Central Domain Controller in Solution manager

Hi All,
We have configured ChaRM successfully for ECC and BI system landscapes, by creating domain links between Solution Manager domain controller and individual domain controllers for ECC and BI systems. Now, we are planning to go for a central domain controller (Solman Domain Controller) for all the satellite systems. So basically, we plan to move the individual domain controllers from ECC and BI to solman domain controller and i guess there will not be domain links required anymore.
With regards to above scenario, please help me with below queries:
1 - Will the above strategy work with chaRM or not
2 - If yes, what are the activities that would be required to be redone in satellite system and solman system
3- Any critical pre-requisites that needs to be checked before we can start this exercise
Please help me with the above queries. Appreciate your time and effort.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Imran

HI,
Yes, you could use solman to be set as the main domain controller; either way with domain links, please kindly have a look
at this expert blog by our Charm expert;

  • Regarding authorization in solution manager for Central system monitoring

    Hi,
I want to Prevent users from deleting Task logs in central system monitoring
    in solution manager
I have assigned the roles SAP_SV_SOLUTION_MANAGER_DISP
But it gives display authorization for everything unable to keep track of
    changes in monitoring
Can anyone please help me to prevent users from deleting task log history
Since I have to keep track of one month data
What can be the suitable role for it ? or what authorization objects i should
make a change to prevent deleting tasklog.
Kindly help me in this regard
    Regards
    Sanjeev.S

    Thanks for your prompt reply
I am not saying about SDDCN
In transction solution_manager  => opertation set up = > central system
    administation
we  will do manual monitoring for sattelite systems in this path. what we monitored
will be entered in task log history.
So what can be the suitable role to prevent the deleting of the task log history.
There is option delete task history. if any one by mistake clicked on that ,all the
records of monitoring will be lost.
so kindly suggest me a suitable solution

  • Solution Manager - Central Monitoring

    Hi,
I keep on hearing the buzz word that Solution Manager would be used as central monitoring from PI 7.1 or later.
Can anyone explain more about this?
I was assuming that solution manager is just to store all the documents and processes.

  • RFC problem (CTS with Solution Manager)

    Hi everybody,
I'm configuring a transport landscape with Solman.
For demo purpose I created 3 clients in a Sandbox system (SBX), which should function like a 3-system-landscape. I created a transport domain in Solman (SM1) and added SBX into the domain (SM1 and SBX are not in one transport directory). The transport routes are configured from SBX:810 - SBX:820 - SBX:830. After I distributed the configuration, I can also see routes in SBX.
I also used SOLMAN_SETUP to generate the RFC connections to every client (READ and TMW), also to SBX:000 and SM1:000.
Then I created a Solman Project and wanted to configure the IMG-Project in "System Landscape" tab (so that I can use this project for CTS). But as I tried to create the IMG, I got an error:
    S:No RFC authorization:000  function module SPROJECT_CREATE_NO_DIA_R.
    Message no. No RFC authorization000
Can somebody give me a hint?
Another problem is, I created a customizing request and a workbench request in SBX:810, I can see them in SE09 in SBX, but in SM1 I cannot see them! I also don't understand here...
I'd preciate any help from you!

    Hello Charlie
Seeing all the STMS queus in Solution Manager is no problem. The way we have set it up is that the Solution Manager is the TMS domain controller and all systems are included into the TMS domain of the Solution Manager.
That makes the STMS queues of the managed SAP systems visible in transaction STMS.
About two years ago SAP showed plans for a new layer for CTS called CCTS (central CTS) which would only be available on Solution Manager and it's purpose would be even more features and central transport request management. However CCTS has vanished from the radar. It's no longer mentioned and at SAP TechED 2011 it was nowhere to be found.
Using CHARM the idea is also that person X creates a request which then a developer Y can use to insert objects into. Why? Segregation of duties is the answer. Creating a request is always done in the managed SAP system, using RFC you will jump to SE01 or another respective transaction to create the request.
QGM and CHARM add another layer (control) on top of CTS, that's how you should visualize it. If you look up presentations on CCTS you will be able to visualy see that.
You can read up on CHARM on https://service.sap.com/solutionmanager
There are also interesting SAPPress books available
The customizing option is to be found in SE09 I believe but I'll check tomorrow and update this reply because I'm on my iPad now without SAP system available.
The obligation is then you must have an IMG_Project in your managed SAP system that has been CTS enabled. Creating such an img project is easy, transaction spro_admin, fill in title, save, go to tab transport request (or something) and enable the project for CTS.
    Kind regards

  • Gurus watch out, challenging Issues with respect to Solution manager 4.0 ?

    Dear Gurus,
i am Newbie as far as Solution Manager is concerned  ?? ?
Plz find time to Respond to these Questions that has haunted me for Long time.
1)What is the Diffrence Between Notification Type and Transcation  type ???
Plz provide me with Eg of each type??
2)What is Fullform of ABA (Notification)?? What is the diffrence between ABA notification and CRM service Transaction ??
Plz Explain it by giving Examples of each type for better Understanding ??
3)This one  really challenging question ??
How do i backtrack a "transaction type" from a CRM Service Transaction or any transaction for that matter ????
    For E.g
Suppose i create a support Msg from a satellite system or even from Solution manager by Going to Help-> Create a Support Message.
    I think its a transaction.
Now if i want to Find to which Transcation type it belongs to ??
then how do i find it ???
    Eg 2
Creating Support msg from Roadmap or blueprint  then which "transaction type" it belongs to ???
Using F1 help didnt help ??
    Plz suggest solution to it.
    Tnx in advance.

    Hi Suzzane,
I am no expert in this, but I think I can give you same info. The notification (basis notification) is a function which is provided in each SAP system. The technic is part of SAP_ABA I suppose (that is the reason why we also call is ABA notification). There is the notification type SLFN or SLF1 which is used in the standard. So via Help->Feedback or Help -> Create Service Message, you can create a ABA notification in each system. That's it.
IF you have configured the table BCOS_CUST with a RFC destination you can create such basis notification centrally.
IF the central system is a Solution Manager and has a configured Service Desk, THEN the basis notification is synchronized to an CRM transaction of transaction type SLFN (standard). And if you change the text or same attributes which are known in the ABA notification this is also synchronized back to the ABA notification. The advantage of the CRM transaction is, we have much more attributes and are much more flexible. The advantage of the ABA notification is, you can send it to SAP, we get the info in your ticket system and send you the info back, A batch job in Solman updates all messages which are send to SAP automatically, and then we also update the CRM transaction.
    I hope this is helpful
I do not know what examples you are looking for.

  • Centralized View for all the Project Document in Solution Manager

we assign roadmap to our Implementation project and as per roadmap we upload different documents for the project(e.g. business case, project charter) at different phases of roadmap. can we see all the documents related to a project from a single centralized view??

    Hi B_J,
it is correct, each document has attributes, on the attribute tab in the button bar, there is an icon to generate an url for the selected document. This link is stored in your windows clipboard, so you can past this link in an e-mail or wordfile. The person who gets the e-mail must have access to the Solution Manager via network, he needs no personal user in the system. The link used a service of Solution Manager(check in the Solution Manager IMG at the HTTP services). This service requires a user to read the document. If you have no user, then it is necessary that in the system a default user is assigned to the service or to its alias. Now to your second use case, the approval, you can not bring any information INTO Solution Manager, you can only answer the e-mail, with the info, yes the document is OK, but you can not set a status or an other attribute at the document, that the document is approved.

  • Can PI 7.1 and Central Monitoring on Solution Manager 7.0 coexist

    Hi,
I would like to know if there are any restrictions if any for using PI 7.1 instead of PI 7.0 with Solution Manager 7.0, NWA 7.0 and CCMS 7.0. I would like to know the problems if any we may face for central monitoring PI 7.1 from Solution manager 7.0.

  • Central PI Monitoring and Alerting in Solution manager

According to SAP AG documentation [White Paper|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/104677d9-fc8c-2e10-dc92-c4e660b0dd8c?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true] - the Solution Manager 7.1 onward provides a central PI monitoring for technical componnents and buisness alerts in a single dashboard.
My question is : does the ALE monitoring status also included in this monitor?
does the SAP PI IDoc adapter (ABAP Based) of PI 7.11 can be monitored there as well?

    Hi,
As per the below help.com ALE/Interface monitoring still part of the Business process monitoring.

But again PI Idoc adaptor can be monitored using channel monitor of PI monitoring.

  • Using central Solution Manager for monitoring multiple customers

    Hello,
We are working on monitoring SAP systems of several customers. For every customer we have configured central monitoring on Solution Manager system of that customer. All satellite systems are added to RZ21 and CCMS agents are configured correctly. On the Solution Manager, in RZ20 we have created a rule based monitor specific to the needs of customer, and that monitor is used for the whole landscape of every customer.
But now I need to configure our central Solution Manager system which will collect CCMS data from all satellite systems of all customers on one place in RZ20. That central Solution Manager system should have direct connection only to customer Solution Manager systems and not to their satellite systems. Is this possible? If yes, can you please explain me how to do it or point me to documentation? I was unable to find solution.
To make this more clear I made a picture of desired configuration:

    Hi Dejan,
as far as I know this is not possible.
we had similar issues, every time we migrated a new customer to or datacenter. Our solution was, to register the CCMS agents to two systems for a period of migration.
Sometime ago, I found a question for that an SDN:
Using another CEN for Solution Manager
I know, that this is not your question exactly, but it is the right direction...

  • Windows 2012 Domain Controller: Failed to open the runspace pool. The Server Manager WinRM plug-in might be corrupted or missing

    Hi all,
We have been battling a problem for the last couple of days when we try to add the first windows server 2012 DC to an already existing Domain.
The Server installation goes smoothly and we can add the computer to the domain and its all green.
After we promote the server to a domain controller the WinRM service starts acting up (not responding anymore).
The server manager console shows Remote Management as disabled, and when we try to enable it via the console or Powershell it freezes up.
The AD DS part of the console is saying that there are post-promotion tasks that need to be completed but once we click on the task it takes us to the promotion wizard again, that basically complains that: Failed to open the runspace pool. The Server Manager
WinRM plug-in might be corrupted or missing.
In the Remote Management Event log we see the following entry: "The client got a timeout from the network layer (ERROR_WINHTTP_TIMEOUT)" Event ID 138
We are unable to do anything with the server (demote, add roles, remotely manage...). We tryed the following already:
    1. Recreate from scratch
    2. Checking the GPOs to see if there is anything setup about RM -> came up with nothing
We just ran out of ideas so HELP PLEASE !
