Changing the Number range intervals

Hi Gurus,
I have query on changing number range intervals in PA. Earlier number ranges has been set at the time of implementation and recently they added one more company and they ask me to set a number ranges for new employees with the new series.
While inserting new number ranges for personnel number it is saying that transport need to be done manually, and it is giving the following message.
*In the target system, all intervals*
*of selected number range object are*
*deleted first so that only the exported*
*intervals exist after the import.*
*The number statuses are imported with*
*the value that they had when exported*
*Dependent tables are not transported or*
*converted.*
If it delete first then export means will it affect the exisiting number in the productions system. Because already other employees are numbers are maintained in the same server it should get affected.
Kindly clarify the same.

But the problem is in production client if i enter the transaction code PA04 it is giving a error as " you are not authorized to use transaction PA04"
What should i do if it throw this kind of error. Even i am not able to use SPRO option in production server.

Using T-code PE03, the feature numbkr was changed i.e the return value has been changed from 3 to 2(internal no. assigned)
Error found when performing action using T-Code PA30 is -could not find interval for the number range 2.

Mass deletion of document number ranges intervals for several company codes

Dear experts,
We are running version ECC6 and are about to go-live a lot of company codes simultaneously. We would like to delete satndard number ranges intervals for these company codes.
Is there a way to delete the number ranges intervals (which have not been used) for several company codes at the same time ? I'm looking for a transaction or a program similar to OBH1 (used for the creation of number ranges ).

I am also not aware of such T.code to delete number ranges for a company code.
Alternatively, you can go to FBN1 in change intervals mode.
From the Menu Select all and Press Shift + F2 (Delete interval).
Ofcourse, this have to be done individually for each co. code.

Have you already created any GL accounts under the current number range?
If yes, then once you change the current number range to the new range you will not be able to edit any GL that you have already created and doesn't fall under the new number range.
Example: If you have already created an account with the number 208888. Now you change the number range from 180000-209999 to 180000-199999, then the account that you had created does not fall under the new number range hence you will not be able to change anything for this account 208888.
If you have created GL accounts under the old number range but it also falls under the new number range then there is no problem for Example: If you have already created an account with the number 190000, and now you change the number range from 180000-209999 to 180000-199999, the account number 190000 still falls under the new number range so you will still be able to make changes to it.
If you have not yet created any GLs like above then there is no problem at all You can easily change the number ranges without any worry

Transporting Number range Intervals

Dear SRMers
System Information: ECC 6.0,
We created Z Number range objects in ECC system A and transported them to ECC System B.
The custom objects were transported, but the number range intervals did not transport to the target system. My question is do we need to transport the number range intervals for the custom objects seperately?

Usually best practice is to not transport number range but to recreate it in the target system.
However, technically it is possible.

The number range for sales documents

Hi all,
I have difined a new number range intervals, but the "current number" doesn't match with saved sales documents' number.
I guess that's because there are old saved sales documents are remained in the system which had saved before I defined a new number range intervals.
Is there any way to delete past saved sales orders so that newly defined numbers are going to be assigned?

ok, so now I understand that I can't delete saved sales orders from the system if these are important documents such as billings.
so If it's impossible to delete old documents in the system, I still need sales documents' number to match the numbers which I have newly defined.
For example, I recently defined a interval no. as below,
Interval No. From Numer To Number Current Number
Z1 010000000 019999999 010000503
I have assigned the interval no. "Z1" to a sales order type. and then created a sale order using the sales order type.
The sales order No. showed "010000504" which looks fine. But when I go back to the customizing to see how the "Z1"'s current number has changed,(I expected it to be "010000504"), I find the current number now became totally random number such as "010000913".
From here, again when I create sales orders, it is "010000505", "010000506", "010000507",,,,,and so on.
But the current number doesn't change at all from "010000913".
I'm lost and need a kind help from SAP pro.

How to change internal number range into external number range

Hi All,
There is a number range in the system which was assigned internally by mistake earlier. Now, I want to change the internally assigned number range to external number range.
Can anyone please let me know, the procedure to change used number range from internal number range to external number range and from external number range to internal number range.

hi Mehak,
you can try to simply change the range from ext to int (and vica versa). If that does not wrok, than you can delete the range and recreate it with proper settings. But you have to take into account that if you have a range as external from 1 to 10 and for example numbers 2 and 5 are taken already than you recreate the range 1..10 as internal, than you could have some problems. Probably best is in this case to recreate with other interval.

Reset the Current Number in the Number Ranges

Hello Friends,
Is it possible to change the current number in the number range based on a condition?
My requirement is, I have generated the number using the Function Module NUMBER_GET_NEXT. If the user clicks on Save then the number generated is saved. But if the user doesnt click on save, the number is not saved but the number is wasted. Now if I create a new number that will be the next number in the sequence. I want that if the user has not clicked on save then the same number should be generated again, so that the numbers are not wasted.

I don't hink it is possible with the number ranges.
Yes, as you said some numbers will be wasted in between.
But in real PRoduction we don't click just like that on SAVe button wasting the numbers.
Check the Tcodes SNUM and SNRO.

We have a requirement where we need to change the existing number range for object type Job Family.
The number range begins from 500* series. Now this needs to be changed to 90000000 number range.
Now the question is what would be the impact if we delimit the objects with earlier JF number range and
create the job families as part of the job catalogue with 90000000 number range.

But my doubt is , the number range is newly created. have 250 subjects inside , User already maintained the intervals in the config box. So i need to transport this higher box. If i am transport this , whether all other number ranges get deleted? including SAP standard also?

I tried to maintain number ranges in SNRO & SNUM there the changes are saved but I am not able to capture the license and receive the same error again. Please help.

Just check if you have maintained number range for the correct year as shown in error.
Goto SNRO/SNUM enter the object ID and click on number range .Maintain there for that particular year.

So the month view displays six weeks.

Urgent : Unable to maintain the Number ranges for Excise Groups

Hi CIN experts............
In Development server I created 3 excise Groups (E2,E3 and E4), the same I was transported to Production.
J_1IRG23A1, J_1IRG23A2 object number ranges are Excise Group specific.
When I go to Tools - Number Ranges to maintain number range for J_1IRG23A1, J_1IRG23A2 objects I didn't find these excise groups.
Im able to see these Excise groups in Tools - Number ranges in Development server, but not in Production.
Can any one guide me something to resolving the issue ?
