  • Charm workflow is to manual. Isn't there a better way?

The charm workflow is very manual. After a person finishes his task, he must assign the current processor to the next person in the process flow. It would be nice if this was automated. In many cases (e.g. after development, after testing) It must go back to the change manager. It should not be necessary for this to be done manually. We are on sp17. Is there any way to make the workflow more automated?

    Hi Avrohom,
I understand your idea "the processor is the one who is currently in charge"
and I discussed this topic with some SOLMAN consultants that shares also this idea but when I read the SAP documentation I am not convinced about this.
Your idea is possible to implement and I can explain you how to do this but my feeling is that this is not the right way to proceed.
The processor is the one who is responsible for the delivery of the correction and will organize the communication around it. (depending on the case it might be the developer, an analyst, the change manager or someone else)
There are different functions set-up by sap to cover the different roles (normally on person doesn't play many different functions at the same time).
If you are a player, in CHARM you only have to look the column corresponding to your role and depending on the status you know what you need to do.
On the way reverse depending on the status of a correction the processor or maybe the requester knows who to chase.
We are running with this concept since 9 months without trouble.
    best regards Xavier

  • CHARM Workflow- Z Actions

    Hi All,
We are in process of implementing workflow for CHARM.
Our requirement is to trigger a workflow whenerver there is change in the Status of the request.
After going through various articles and blogs, i am able to process till the step to create a Z action and attach that action to existing Profile.
Although i have create a z action and attached my customized WF Template number in 'Processing types', my workflow is not getting triggered once the status is changed to 'IN development. I have maintained the conditions as well.
All i am confused is, Do i need to put any triggering event ( Currently only 'created' event is getting triggered in system') and yes, which event do i need to put here
    OR
Does system fill the container element ( of type  BUS2000116 import checked) of my customized workflow .I have made my WF template as general.
    Kindly suggest.
    Regards,
    Sangvir Singh

    Hi Sangvir,
One quick and easy way is to check if your action got triggered in the system or not. You can do that using an Action monitor program RSPPFPROCESS (transaction SPPFP).
There you could check the status of the action and if it all got triggered. If the action got triggered correctly, you could chekc in the log what the issue was which did not cause the workflow to trigger.
    Hope this helps!

  • Customized steps in ChaRM workflow

    Hello SolMan Gurus,
I am in a project implementing Change Request Management in Solution Manager. Now my client wants to add an additional customized step in the standard process flow. Let me explain in detail. When a change request has been created, before it reaches the approver my client wants to add an intermediate role who can either confirm or disapprove. Only if the intermediate person approves, should the change request go to the approver.
Could you please help me with this scenario on how to do customization when it comes to add new roles in the ChaRM.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Pan

    Hi Pan,
    1. you need two custom statuses (ie. "Confrmed by Special Group" and "Disapproved by Special Group")
    2. you need two action to set the above statuses
    3. you need to set the conditions of the actions so that the only show up when the status is "New" in the actions toolbox
    4. you need to modify the Change Managers approval action conditions so they show up when the status is "Confirmed by Special Group" instead of "New'
    regards,
    Jason

  • ChaRM actions reset for developer

Hi I am configuring ChaRM workflow.
For the devloper I have not done any changes in the actions, whereas whenever I 'create transport request' through developer's actions after that the available actions are again back to the old one i.e. 'Set to in development' and 'Cancel Procedure'.
Any pointer to the possible problem.
    Regards,
    Smita

    Hi Smita,
did you look to the following note :
Note 919477 - Normal correction reset to status "created"
Is it the same problem ?

  • Charm shortcut to redirect to transaction number

    Hi Guys,
i have a tricky question regarding the charm workcenter. If I choose an existing transaction in Charm workcenter (web based) I get a little SAP shortcut and this shortcut forward me direct into the related transaction number in SAP.(Ta: crmd_order )
I would like to use this functionality for automatic email replay within the charm workflow, means I would like to fill the SAP Script form with an URL (consist of a static part and the transaction number ) and this URL forward the workflow user direct into the transaction.
The generating and filling of the shortcut (by an URL)  already works but the shortcut created by me, forward only into the entry screen of SAP and not in transaction crmd_order.
If I compare the content of both shortcuts ( once created by myself and once created by SAP standard scenario) I see the difference and probably the problem:
shortcut of SAP standard:   works and forward me into TA crmd_order transaction number 8000000243
    *AGS_WORK_LAUNCHER pcmd=CRMD_ORDER;pname1=id;pvalue1=DF4DE55AE1AB92F188CB0019BB36EE72;
shortcut created by myself: does not work, forward only into the entryscreen of SAP
    *AGS_WORK_LAUNCHER pcmd=CRMD_ORDER;pname1=id;pvalue1=8000000243;
It seems, the SAP standard translate the transaction number during runtime into a key and only the request with this key works correct.
The URL, which creates my shortcut looks like this: http://myserver.com:8000/sap/bc/ags_workcenter/ags_work_appln?CMD=CRMD_ORDER&%7esolmanwrkgui=SAPSHORTCUT&ID=8000000243
Has anybody an idea? Its a very usefull functionality (if it works) because workflow users don't need personalized queries to find, for ex.,  a change request which needs to confirmed by themself.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help.
    Rayko

    Hello Rayko,
It seems, the SAP standard translate the transaction number during runtime into a key and only the request with this key works correct.
The hexadecimal key is the unique identifier for a CRM Order in SolMan called GUID. You will be able to find the relation between the message number (called object ID) and the GUID in table CRMD_ORDERADM_H.

  • ChaRM: Several maintenance cycles in one maintenance project?

    Hi!
We are working with urgent correction within ChaRM and thinking about to implement the normal corrections as well.
Our ChaRM workflow for normal corrections is characterized by:
a)corrections with different Life cycle (those who will be processed within 1 week, other with 2 week, etc.)
    Questions:
    1) Is it possible to have several maintenance cycles for one maintenance project to handle condition u201Ca)u201D?
    2) What will happen with all the normal corrections and urgent corrections that have a long life cycle (status: in development, test, etc.) when the charm manager set the status of maintenance cycle in u201CGo liveu201D?
    Thank you  very much!
    H. Thomasson

    Hi Holger,
Maintenance cycle and SMI project is a 1:1 relationship.
In status GoLive you will be able to continue developement/work on normal corrections but you will not be able to release any transport requests/create transport of copies so your testings in QA will be limited.
In phase GoLive you are able to import requests into production.
Normal Corrections which have not been released yet are not lost. Depending on your scenario you may switch phases back to "in dev with rel." after you imported into production. It is not necessary to close and recreate maintenance cycles if you use one project for daily/weekly maintenance.
    /cheers

  • Integration of work flow and activities within TMS while setting up CHaRM

    Hi,
    While setting up CHaRM,
After the TMS being setup, activating CTS in project and while in edit maintenance cycle.
How do we set for the status to activities, eg: 'Approve to Production' status in CHaRM workflow with the corresponding approval procedure&import to production?
Your answer will be very helpful.
    Thanks and Regards,

Edited by: Jamuna Nithyanandam on Mar 26, 2009 9:31 AM

    Hi.
I do not really understand your requirement.
You did create a SMI project, activated ChaRM for that project and created a maintenance cycle and task list.
After the maintenance cycle has been activated you need to unlock the tasks/groups.
Now start creating change documents which contain the workflow (for instance "normal corrections" of type SDMJ). You do this either manually or via a change request.
Import into production is possible in phase "GoLive" only.

  • ChaRM - Mail configuration

    Hi Experts
I have customized the ChaRM workflow. before authorise we have added 3 tasks. Now all the tasks is working in the tasklist. Now I am doing the mail configuration. Now i am  unable to trigger the mail for  what i have created the new task. I am able to send the mail on reject & authorise tasks.
I have checked all the configuration steps, both are common.
Please help me to resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance
    venkat

    Hello Venkat,
If I understood your question, you are able to send mail in several statuses, except when the message is created.
If this is the situation, there is an OSS note to solve that. Apply the note [812385|http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/] and see if it solves your problem.

  • Charm--Ina ction while creating request

    Hi all,
All the configuration for charm is done and now in charm workflow ima facing some issues.
In action while creating a change document in solman its automatically creating  a workbench and customizing request in satellite system.
With reference to tutor ,I can select the request which i want. But in my case there is no such option existing while creating the request. Is there anyway to define the option like that.
FYI: In this i created two maitnenance cycle like one is for custtomizing flow and another is for workbench flow. Due to this reason is it creating a two requests insatellite system.
    Configuration : Solamn7.0 with sp level 12
    Regards
    Vijay

    Dear Vijay,
Before SP13 there is always by default two TR created
    one for workbench &
    one customizing
But the empty got deleted automatically.
Now after SP13 onwards you can choose the option by checking the box for customizing or workbench req as required.
    Hope this resolves your doubt.
    PLEASE REWARD POINTS.

  • Updating Solution Manager - Charm Non-regression Tests

    Dear Gurus,
we plan to update Solution Manager from SP18 to SP25.
One of our concerns is related to Charm. Actually, due to code changes in the Charm workflow, we'd like to ensure there won't be any regression. what would you suggest?
    1) Adding additional mandants to the sandbox system (one for every system in the transport route)
    2) Creating virtual systems in TMS
    Sincerly,
    Ludovic

I will try to clarify the issue.
As regression test, we would like to simulate a Charm workflow within the sandbox environment. The original Workflow is based on validation steps accross DEV - INT - QUA - PPD - PRD.
Question is : can I define virtual systems in TDM/CHARM like I would do to bypass a system during transports in order to simulate our complete landscape?
    Kind Regards,
    Ludovic

  • Workflow error in ChaRM using Group Approval

    Hi,
I am using the Group Approval in ChaRM's requests for change transactions, as explained in detail in Michael Vollmer's blogpostNew ChaRM Feature with SP 10: Enhanced Approval Procedure Functions
I am also using the workflow crm_rfc_aprv (WS17100016), which sends out workflow tasks during the approval procedure.
Since I have assigned organizational units to my approval procedure, I always receive an e-mail from the Workflow User with title "Workflow 12345 set to status ERROR" for every ticket.
This is because somewhere in the code behind the workflow, a user is searched based on the business partner in the approval step. But an Organizational Unit is never linked to a user, you cannot assign the BP Role "employee" to an organizational unit.
It would be nice if the workflow could send workflow tasks to all the users assigned in the organizational model to the organizational unit. But currently, I am most concerned with getting rid of the workflow error e-mails. I really don't want to get an e-mail for each and every ticket.
Does anyone know if there is a way to solve this? Maybe some way to link an organizational unit to a (dummy) user anyway?

    Hi Karthik,
Yes, my organizational model is maintained.
There are three BP's + Users assigned to the organizational unit.
The SP10 Enhanced Approval Procedure completely works, those three users are able to set the approval for the "Center of Competence" organizational unit to "approved" in the RfC ticket.
However, the workflow behind it never goes looking in the organizational model. It just sees "business partner 632", and checks only the data of BP 632, and doesn't find a user on it. So the workflow goes into error, and sends a mail about it to me...
For approval step 1 everything goes as normal, there is a specific person assigned to the step, the workflow finds a user on the person's business partner, and sends a workflow task / mail to that user.
Below are screenshots of tx PPOMA_CRM, the approval block in the RfC ticket, and the correct and error mail as seen in the tx SOST list.
    Kind regards,
    Joyca

  • Approvement workflow in ChaRM

    Hello,
In ChaRM, we use the approvement workflow messaging. Automatic mails are sent (smartform) when a change request needs to be approved, when the developper can start working, etc.
In our development system, everything runs fine, the mail is sent with the correct text.
In the production system, the mails are sent, but the content of the mail is in a PDF attached to the mail. This is not practical at all for the users.
ChaRM customizing and smartforms are the same on the two systems. What settings do I need to change in order to have the content of the mail directly in the message, without any attachment ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
I am sorry, but this functionality was in fact set up in our company by a SAP consultant.
I have some knowledge on ChaRM customizing, but I would be absolutely incapable of giving you a step by step guide for this.
PS: Sorry, I took the wrong user.
