Chart of account conversion SLO tool, method for a Production system

Hi All
We have a requirement like we want to use Chart of account conversion tool for a production system where transactional data are present.
We have used this COA conversion tool for best practice solution not in a production system.
we want to know the difference between these two methods like production and non production system.
Provide me some process document on the SLO service tool for the same

Hi Mrinal
I'm wondering the same? How to go on in productive system after to use the conversion toll?
How did you manage?

Hi William, and all forté subscribers.
    Thanks for your answers.
To discuss on honest basis, let's say we don't plan to buy any product yet.
But the 'small' forté code management is source of many problems.
We're interfacing the 'workspaces handling' with text-based source control
tools, and this (can) allows proper 'control'. Shame we can't build forté
applications from proper text files :)
Our issues are more about understanding the hierarchy between projects when
it's not documented. Therefore, quite a reverse-engineering point of view,
despite we stay in a " forte TOOL code " level.
For your information, we have Select, used as " reference " model, and as
    interface to Express.
For the Issues I've expressed, here's my (current) status.
I learned 'b-tree' repositories have become standard for 3.0 (despite 2.0 had many),
and therefore we're extremely waiting for 'R.4.0' code management.
We've got a way to " visualize " plans depandancies from an exported workspace,
but this doesn't allow 'update' (lacks forté workspace cross-verification facility).
We've got another way to export a 'workspace' in both 'wex' and set of 'pex's,
and building the import script from the wex file using an intelligent grep/sed script.
    Thanks for all your suggestions,

    Subject: [REQ] Assisted management tools/methods
for plans hierarchies (imp/exports, supplier plans management & external
    APIs control)
    Hi,
I'm looking for cross-projects investigation tools, to
provide graphical understanding and management of
forté source code. Viewing/updating plans dependencies,
as well as managing external APIs calls are my
    requirements.
I am not clear about this question. But I will give my best shot. Are
you looking for some form of "source profiling" or "reverse engineering"
tool where by it reads the Forte TOOL code and turn that into UML which
then can be displayed in graphical form. My understanding is that
SELECT's Enterprise has this capability for C/C++ code. They also work
closely with Forte so they might have something that will work with TOOL
    code.
In order to manage international developments between
sites, applications have been split into 'components'.
Therefore, and to keep it simple, each component comes
out of a separate dedicated repository.
At integration and build time, those sets of source code
are merged together, supplier plans updated and
    forté applications built.
Controlling UUIDs at export time keeps simple the reload
    of new delivered versions.
But my issue is in the physical process to actually
(get) deliver(ed) those sets of source code.
Forté fscript allows to export classes, plans, or
    workspaces.
Only 'plan exports' (pex) can provide a way to only
deliver plans which have to be delivered.
(i.e. without test projects, stubs or third party
products plans which could be part of the workspace).
Therefore, whereas an export script can easily be
automated (list plans, and then for each plan find it
and then export it with a meaningful name), the import
process can't, because of plans dependancies.
In order to assist that process, I would like to know if
any of you did find ways to :
    1) Display in a tree view the plans hierarchy for a given
workspace, or for a given repository baseline
I don't think you can do it in Forte 3.0. But my I understanding is
that they will have this capability in Forte 4.0. But Forte people will
    have more information.
    2) Export from a given workspace plans as separate
files, as well as related import script (with proper sequence)
    3) Get from a set of pex files a plans hierarchy and a
    proper import script.
Current workaround has been first to 'batch load' all
the pex files until having them all loaded
(first go loads top providers, then more and more as
    dependancies are resolved).
Another one has been spending time grep'ing from pex
files the 'includes' lines and designing on paper
the tree. But that's long and evolving.
    Thanks for ideas and suggestions,

Maybe Hamish Speirs can explain it - it was his post in another thread that gave me the idea and commands to try (see http://forums.novell.com/forums/nove...r-10038-a.html).
We had a confluence of changes at the beginning of the semester (Sept) that no doubt helped contribute to the problem and yet also mask the real cause to a certain extent.
    1. The Thawte cert expired and was replaced with a new cert - Thawte does not support doing renewals on NetWare. This happened around the start of Sept.
    2. School semester begins. Thousands of students return.
    3. We use Pcounter for pay-for-print and it uses httpstk to provide a webpage for students to authorize print jobs.
    4. Printing activity in general goes way up.
    5. All printers are Secure.
    6. Apache, iPrint and httpstk all use the same Thawte certificate
    7. The print server was also hosting the netstorage service which also uses the Thawte cert (via apache).
    8. The print server was recently (August) virtualized (via p2v using the excellent Portlock Storage Manager)
Eventually I built a new NetWare vm to host print services and got a new cert so at least the netstorage and print services were no longer running together. I suspected at that point that the likely source of the abends was NetStorage since Nile and SSL were almost always involved in the abends.
After the separation the issues continued - so it wasn't netstorage's fault. Desparate searching of the 'net lead to H.'s post. The rest is history!
It has now been 9 days up uptime without a single nile/ssl related abend ( I had one abend in pcounter but services survived).

I am after a tool that lets you draw a line/curve between two points, is this or a similar tool available for this product? And where can I get a list of ALL the core tools?
    Thanks in advance!

My suggestion would be to join the Developer Network. This would give you full access to the LiveCycle product suite as well as an easy to install "sandbox".

  • Same logical system name for two productive systems - BW, PI issues

    Dear all,
we have a productive system which serves two companies (different company codes). This system is connected both to BW and PI for both companies.
There is a requirement that these two companies must use their own system, so the whole landscape (dev,qa,prd) will be copied to different systems (different server with different system id).
As a result of the above procedure we wll have two different productive systems, as required, but we wll have the same logical system name for the two productive systems, which must be both connect to bw and PI.
However as far as I know:
    - we cannot connect systems with same logical system name to BW,PI
    - we cannot convert logical system name of the one of the two productive systems as they are productive and so this is not supported.
How can we overcome the problem?
    Please advice.

    Right.

Since you split up systems (or plan to) I highly recommend booking an SLO service (http://service.sap.com/slo). Those people have to the tools and the knowlege to help you. I would not do this on my own.

    Hi,
Are you trying to configure CHARM? In that case, try setting the domain controller as the production system and keep CTC=1.
    This should help.

Yes, it's possible to have all systems (Prod, Dev, QA, ...) within one solution and to have EWA activated.
You need to choose "Put in Solution" from the context menu. See screen shots attached.

  • Disaster Recovery scenario for MSCS Production system.

    Hi
Our production system is on win2008/sql2008 MSCS. We decided to install a disaster recovery system. We will use a database replication software. If we have a standalone production system, not a MSCS system, i know that i can install Disaster Recory system with same SID and hostname and i don't need any homogeneous system copy procedure to switch to DR system. But in our scenario, we have many hostname (sap cluster group, sql cluster group, hostnames of nodes... etc.).
How can i install my DR system (which hostname.. etc.) to make our DR scenario easy?
    Best Regards...

You May have trouble with RFC connections:
So, one possible solution is, your new server name(Host name) should be your message server name to minimise the trouble and you have to maintain this for all RFC connections (to Prod ECC system) to virtual host which could be message server.
If I could think if any other possible issues, I will update.

    Hi Burkhard,
Thanks for the suggestions. Three things:
    1. Using the Null version limits the cipher strength of the tcp/ip stack - we cannot do this.
    2. The sp8e patch set was already applied - we did it last year when it came out to support OS X 10.8
    3. I suspect the real cause is an OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) client. This was released last week. Ian Belton is also reporting the same issue (same abend, same timing). See his post in the iprint general forum at https://forums.novell.com/novell-pro...olid-lock.html
He may have a fix, but it is too soon to tell (3 hours of up time is too short).

  • Stateless EJB Webservices vs Endpoint.publish() API for a production system

    Hello,
I am currently designing an SOA JEE application using JAX-WS Webservices for the synchronous calls and JMS (MDB) for asynchronous access.
It is packaged in a EAR containing one EJB module (no WAR), so I decided first to publish the Webservices using the javax.xml.ws.Endpoint.publish() method via the Spring org.springframework.remoting.jaxws.SimpleJaxWsServiceExporter. It's working very well and I can inject easily spring beans into my JAX-WS webservice, .. but :
    - I cannot see the published webservices in the Weblogic console
    - I have no idea on how the webservices instances are handled (just one ? )
    - Is it robust enough to be used in production in a critical financial application ?
On the other hand, I just have to add a @Statless annotation to turn my JAX-WS classes into real EJB-Webservice aware, but it probably adds overhead in the Weblogic server and it's a bit more complicated to inject Spring resources.
    Any advice will help.
    Thanks
    GM

    Hi Kaustubh,
A topic subscriber only receives messages that are published after it is registered with the topic. Your code for send() creates a publisher that sends the message to the topic before you create a new subscriber in your receive() code. Since that subscriber is created after your publisher has sent its message your subscriber will never receive this message!
Your code will have the expected behaviour if you use a queue instead of a topic. If you have to use a topic, you could create your subscriber and your publisher in the init() method of your EJB and reuse them in your send() and receive() methods.
    Hope it helps.

  • Best Practice for legally required Chart of Account

    Dear all,
our client has a global defined chart of account. Now they are going to implement the SAP template in France, Belgium and Russia. These countries have legally required chart of accounts. What is best practice to fullfill these requirements in SAP.
    1) Do I use the alternative account number?
    2) Isn't this field on the central level of the account master data record? How do I manage to realize the different number for Russia and for France at the same time?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Best regards Timo

    Hi,
the best way proofed by real life is to define new chart of accounts for the country specific accounts. Then to assign this chart of accounts as country chart of accounts in company code parameters.
Then you can use field alternative account number in company code segment of G/L accounts.
Just keep in mind that the assigment should be 1:1, i.e. one operative (global) account is assigned to one local account and one local account should be assigned to one operative account.
You can't change the alternative account number if there is balance on that account. You can just repost the balance to another account, then change alternative acccount number and then post the balance back. For some accounts its difficult to do such excercise so I use short ABAP which changes directly the field in table SKB1.
You can also define financial statement strucutre based on local chart of accounts - which is usually easier for maintennace, because you can use intervals. Just do not forget check "Alternantive accounts" in RFBILA00.

  • Source for Same GL Account(SKA1) used in multiple Chart Of Accounts(T004)

If Same GL Account is used in multiple Chart Of Accounts. Does SAP Source it from a single GL Account source or it creates a completely new records for the GL Accounts in all the Chart Of Accounts independently. Lets take for an example Accounts Receivable GL Account if this is used for many Chart Of Accounts does the GL Account for Accounts Receivable has the master record and all the Chart Of Accounts use the same GL Account master record for that Accounts Receivable Account.

    1) So Inorder to find one GLAccount I need to know the Chart Of Accounts of that GL account I am looking for as same GL Account number with same name can exist in different Chart Of Accounts.
    2) You referrred GL Code. Is that synonym for GL Account Number.
I am little stuck with the name
what is the difference between General Ledger(Is that nothing but a Chart Of Accounts) and General Ledger Account.
GL Account in SKA1 as it seems like  "GL Account for Chart Of Accounts" instead of "GL Account" as every GL Account   has to be accompanied by Chart Of Accounts.
Example: If I say "Accounts Receivable "  as GL Account I dont know whether that is in Chart Of Accounts1 or Chart Of Accounts2

  • No corporate chart of accounts is defined for your chart of accounts

    Hi
I want to know what can be the reason if GLs exist at the chart of accounts level and not at the comany code level even though the company code is assigned to the chart of accounts .
When I go to create the Gl at CoCd leve it says 'No corporate chart of accounts is defined for your chart of accounts'.
Please suggest,  (the Chart of accounts has been copied)
    thanks

    hi,
the chart of accounts are three types
    1.operating chart of accounts
    2.Country chart of accounts
    3.group chart of accounts
Charts of accounts can have three different functions in the system:
    Operating chart of accounts
The operating chart of accounts contains the G/L accounts that you use for posting in your company code during daily activities. Financial Accounting and Controlling both use this chart of accounts.
You have to assign an operating chart of accounts to a company code.
    Group chart of accounts
The group chart of accounts contains the G/L accounts that are used by the entire corporate group. This allows the company to provide reports for the entire corporate group.
The assigning of an corporate group chart of accounts to a company code is optional.
    Country-specific chart of accounts
The country-specific chart of accounts contains the G/L accounts needed to meet the country's legal requirements. This allows you to provide statements for the country's legal requirements.
The assigning of an country-specific chart of accounts to a company code is optional.
    Use
You can enter a group account number as additional information in the G/L accounts of the chart of accounts you are using. The system checks whether the group account number exists in the corporate chart of accounts.
    Example
If the structure of the chart of accounts is predetermined by national legal requirements, you can define a corporate chart of accounts. All accounts receive a group account number which is the same for all accounts of that particular type in various different charts of accounts.
For consolidation purposes, you can define the balance sheet and P+L by using group account numbers, i.e. they do not need to be defined differently per country.
