Hi,
Thanks for the below inputs.
I have one question.
We are planning to implement MLS in Oracle R12.1.3.If we get the Item data in Chinese Languages and start doing the conversion.
How the data goes to _TL tables with language as Simplifies Chinese for china item data.
Any pointer on the above point will resolve my confusion.

UTF8 character set conversion for chinese Language
Hi friends,
Would like to some basic explanation on UTF8 feature,what does it help while converting the data from chinese language.
Would like to know what all characters this UTF8 will not support while converting from chinese language.
Thanks & Regards
Ramya NomulaNot exactly sure what you are looking for, but on MetaLink, there are numerous detailed papers on NLS character sets, conversions, etc.
Bottom line is that for traditional Chinese characters (since they are more complicated), they require 4 bytes to store the characters (such as UTF-8, and AL32UTF8). Some mid-eastern characters sets also fall in this category.
Do a google search on "utf8 al32utf8 difference", and you will get some good explanations.
e.g., http://decipherinfosys.wordpress.com/2007/01/28/difference-between-utf8-and-al32utf8-character-sets-in-oracle/
Recently, one of our clients had a question on the differences between these two character sets since they were in the process of making their application global. In an upcoming whitepaper, we will discuss in detail what it takes (from a RDBMS perspective) to address localization and globalization issues. As far as these two character sets go in Oracle, the only difference between AL32UTF8 and UTF8 character sets is that AL32UTF8 stores characters beyond U+FFFF as four bytes (exactly as Unicode defines UTF-8). Oracle’s “UTF8” stores these characters as a sequence of two UTF-16 surrogate characters encoded using UTF-8 (or six bytes per character). Besides this storage difference, another difference is better support for supplementary characters in AL32UTF8 character set.
You may also consider posting your question on the Globalization Suport forum which pertains more to these types of questions.

Sender FILE Adapater Content Conversion: Header and Item Data
Hi
I need to pick a file and do the content conversion. The XML structure which should be formed should be in the below format. I have a CSV file which needs to be converted.
Kindly suggest how can I maintain parameters for Header and Item level data in Recordset structure.
How can I specify in Recordset parameter which is Header(Customerno, Doc type and Address) and Item level(Line Item) data.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<customernumber></customernumber>
<documenttype></documenttype>
- <Address>
<name1></name1>
<name2></name2>
</Address>
- <LineItem>
<material>100016</material>
<amount>1000</amount>
</LineItem>Hi Swetank,
The file after conversion should have one Header and you can have any number of line items.
Once you choose File Content Conversion in the message protocol header while configuring the Sender File Adapter, you get the following enteries in the Content Conversion Parameters:
Document Name
Document Namespace
Document Offset
Recordset Name
Recordset Namespace
Recordset Structure
Recordsets per Message
Key Field Name
To maintain the Header information, Some entries are mandatory, i.e.
Recordset Name: Here please specify the name of the structure. It is included in the XML schema.
Recorset Structure: Here you need to enter the sequence and the number of substructures. Since Header is one but you can have many Line items, you will write:
customernumber,1,documenttype,1,Address,1,LineItem,*
this format is clearly explained in the link provided by Divya.
And in the Additional fields you need to write the name of fields corresponding to different Recorset Structures and also add some property to it, like fixed lengths, use some separators etc.
and Most important field is:
Key Field Name: If you specified a variable number of substructures for Recordset Structure, in other words, at least one substructure has the value *, then the substructures must be identified by the parser from their content. This means that a key field must be set with different constants for the substructures. In this case, you must specify a key field and the field name must occur in all substructures.
Here you need to enter LineItem as it is the only Recordset Structure with an *.
I hope this solves your problem,
Thanks and Regards,

Dear all,
Would like to ask for the advice of Data conversion of BP code and Item Code.
Any guideline ?
i know it is not suggested to do so, but i really need to change the bp code and item code.
Thank you very muchHi Tac,
once journal entries are linked to any master data, the code cannot be changed anymore. If you are just implementing & have a very low number of transactions, you might consider creating a new database using copy express & then just import your amended codes & start working with tha new db.
Alternatively, you could group all the 'old' codes in an appropriately named BP/item group (e.g. DoNotUse_BP) & mark them as 'on hold'. Then create new master data with the correct codes use opening balances. The master data could carry a header udf where the old & new codes are referenced.
If you do this, be careful if you use FIFO items, you might want to import the already posted transactions using the now item codes to recreate the layers, instead of starting with 1 opening layer.
All the best,

Error facing in Date format in Chinese languaga in Webi Document
Hi,
In Infoview, when i am launching the webi document from a China location(China user) after giving the date as input in the promt window i am facing a Date error "aaaa-n-j h:mm:ss" in Chinese language.
so i think my date format is not in sync with Chinese date format.so if it the case what configuration changes to be done in infoview to resolve such issues?
Note: however this webi docuement is used by multiple users from multiple countries.
So what settings needs to be done in Infoview inorder to mitigate these date format issues. (i.e when opening a webi document in a different country in their local language)
Please help me in resolving this issue.
Thanks & Regards,
Kishore.Just for a workaround, If date format DD/MM/YYYY is not giving error, enter date in this date format despite profile format, or change user profile to that.
And check for user-exit with hard-code format validation. -
How to catch multi language's data in MSSQL and data isn't garbled
Hi everyone, I'm Taiwanese PHP developer, sorry for my poor English.
I have 3 language's data:Simplified Chinese,Traditional Chinese, and English in our mssql2012 database.
If I want to use ADODB to catch data,The Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese will be garbled.
I try to use mb_convert_encoding($data,
'UTF-8','BIG-5'),
the Traditional Chinese is ok, but Simplified Chinese is still garbled.
Do anyone have suggestion?
This is my output:

//echo $key2."=>".$arr_str."<p />";
$results[$key1][$key2] = mb_convert_encoding($arr_str, 'UTF-8','BIG-5');
$results[$key1][$key2] = mb_convert_encoding($arr_str, 'UTF-8', 'BIG-5');
return $results;
$sql = $_REQUEST['sql'];
$usedb = $_REQUEST['usedb'];
if($sql==""){
$sql = "select * from HCP";
if($usedb == ""){
$usedb ="oci8";
if($usedb == "mssql"){

$mssqlconn->Connect($hostname, $username, $pw , $dbname);
$mssqlconn->debug = false;
$results = $mssqlconn->GetArray($sql);
$results = encoding_data($results);
echo "<pre>",print_r($results),"</pre>";
print_r($usedb);
?>Hi Yun Chen,
Not knowledgable on PHP programing, but as far as I know The BIG-5 is specific for traditional Chinese, so that's why you got garbled character for simplified Chinese.
As the Chinese character encoding wiki says, there're newer standards such as
GB18030 and
Unicode which have separate code points for both simplified and traditional characters. I believe this may be a good starting for you to make the conversion work.
Regarding your description, this is not some specific question on SQL Server. I would suggest you post your question on a dedicated PHP forum. It is more appropriate and more experts will help you.
If you have any question, feel free to let me know.

We are receving a column values (example: Product Description) which is in a chinese language. Those rows has to be converted in to a English and load it in database custom table.
Any possibilities?
Thanks & Regards,
BalakirshnaPl post details of OS and database versions.
Oracle is not a language translator :-) You will need to perform the language conversion outside of Oracle and then feed the data to Oracle so it can load it.

How to header and item data of sales order using bapi interface
hi friends,
i am geetha, i having a problem like how to upload sales oder header and item data through va01 tcode using BAPI FUNCTION MODULES.
i need bapi function modules for header adn item data and brief explation on that , how to pass importing and tables parameters to get exact output .

geetha.Use : BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2
Sales order: Create Sales Order
Functionality
You can use this method to create sales orders.
You must enter at least sales order header data (via ORDER_HEADER_IN structure) and partner data (via the ORDER_PARTNERS table) as input parameters.
Enter the item data via the ORDER_ITEMS_IN table. You can allocate item numbers manually, by filling in the relevant fields, or the system does it, according to the settings for Customizing, by leaving the relevant fields blank.
If you have configurable items, you must enter the configuration data in the ORDER_CFGS_REF, ORDER_CFGS_INST, ORDER_CFGS_PART_OF and ORDER_CFGS_VALUE tables.
Credit cards can be transferred via the BAPICCARD structure, on the one hand, data for card identification, on the other, data for a transaction which has taken place in an external system.
Once you have created the sales order successfully, you will receive the document number (SALESDOCUMENT field). Any errors that may occur will be announced via the RETURN parameter.
If no sales area has been created in the sales order header, then the system creates the sales area from the sold-to party or ship-to party, who has been entered in the partner table. If a clear sales area cannot be created, you will receive a system message, and the sales order will not be created.
Notes
1. Mandatory entries:
ORDER_HEADER_IN : DOC_TYPE Sales document type
SALES_ORG Sales organization
DISTR_CHAN Distribution channel
DIVISION Division
ORDER_PARTNERS..: PARTN_ROLE Partner role, SP sold-to party
PARTN_NUMB Customer number
ORDER_ITEMS_IN..: MATERIAL Material number
2. Ship-to party:
If no ship-to party is entered, use the following: Ship-to party =
sold-to party.
3. Commit control:
The BAPI does not have a database commit. This means that the relevant application must leave the commit, in order that can be carried out on on the database. The BAPI BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT is available for this.
4. German key words:
The following key words must be entered in German, independantly of
the logon language:
DOC_TYPE Sales document type, for example: TA for standard order
PARTN_ROLE Partner role, for example: WE for ship-to party

You can find further information in the OSS. The note 93091 contains general information on the BAPIs in SD.

Data conversion for New GL - Going live during fiscal year
Hi Experts,
My client is going live on Oct 1 (fiscal year in Jan -Dec). So for data conversion we need to load P&L and BalanceSheet as of Sept 30, 2009. I need your help to resolve few open issues. (we have activated Doc Splitting with Zero Balance and Segment )
1) When we load P&L balances - how can I assign Profit Centers to all these P&L iitems .
2) What is the procedure (best practices) to assign Profit Centers to all the Balance Sheet items since we are going live during Fiscal Year
3) When we process open items (AR, AP) in month of October how the Profit Center assignment will work?
(My client will be using Profit /Cost center terminology first time, so we need to map all the B&S and PnL items to Profit centers)
4) What is the best way to map all the Balance Sheet GL accounts to Profit Centers.
Sorry for asking too many questions. Any help would me very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Sam1) When we load P&L balances - how can I assign Profit Centers to all these P&L iitems .
Each P&L account balance has to be upload with cost centre, then automatically PC will be triggered.
2) What is the procedure (best practices) to assign Profit Centers to all the Balance Sheet items since we are going live during Fiscal Year
Let client decide the profit centre for balance sheet items, since they knows which balance relates to which pc
3) When we process open items (AR, AP) in month of October how the Profit Center assignment will work?
While uploading AR,AP balances, each line item to be uploaded with profit centre, automatically in october PC assignment will work.
(My client will be using Profit /Cost center terminology first time, so we need to map all the B&S and PnL items to Profit centers)
4) What is the best way to map all the Balance Sheet GL accounts to Profit Centers
Try to identify each balance sheet gl balance to each profit centre, this will help in future reports. otherwise put in common pc -
URGENT help please. Problem creating Chinese language text field in Adobe LiveCycle.
A client requested to create an employee details form in which few text fields has to be in Chinese language. I selected "Arial Unicode MS" for that fields. In final PDF I am able to insert text in Chinese text fields in Acrobat. But I cant insert text when i opened the final PDF in Adobe Reader. (only these Arial Unicode MS fields are disabled). All other fields (English) are in Arial font., they are working in both (Acrobat and Reader). As these forms will be distributed to people who may don't have Acrobat and only the Free Adobe Reader. Can someone please advice me how to solve this problem.

I just got a nano 7th generation but came in chinese language and don't understand
Hi
I new at this, I just got the nano 7th generation. Took it out of the package and discover that is in chinese language and don't understand and don't know which one of the setting in the one for changing the language.
Can anyone help one
AnnieHey there amontalvo,
It sounds like your default language needs to be changed on your iPod Nano 7th gen. These instructions should help you get that reset, from the following article:
iPod: Changing the display language
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1824
Reset your iPod—Depending on how much you've used your iPod since selecting the language, simply resetting your iPod may cause it to forget the current language setting, enabling you to select a new one. See How to reset iPod for instructions.
Note: When you reset your iPod, all your music and data files are saved, though you may need to reset some customized settings.
Update your iPod software—If you haven't updated your iPod software recently, use the latest version of iTunes and update the iPod software.
Go to the main menu—Disconnect your iPod from your computer, then press the Menu button until the menu title says "iPod," regardless of the language displayed. This means you are at the main menu.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Error in Chinese language translation In Forms....
We have our application based on Oracle and d2k.
Standard language is English. Thus all the labels and data in the Form and in the Tables are in english language. Now we wish to generate one of the forms in chinese language which will change the labels in the form to chinese letters.
Approach we followed:
All the corresponding english lables in The Form Screen are generated in the Chinese language in the excel file. We have imported the .csv file with corrsponding lables in our schema. and the data is populated in the tables.
Problem encountered:
All the data in the tables is shown as junk values. ie, ???????
NLS_LANG has been set in the registry as
"TRADITIONAL Chinese_Hong Kong.UTF8".
I have this feeling that i am setting the wrong lang setting.
let me know if this is correct and what else can i check so that i can junk characters paves ways to chinese characters.
When i try to insert in the tables thro SQL.... it does not allow and the char are still ?????????????????????
Kindly suggest.When i have done the changes as suggested by u, i am not able to launch SQL...
message is:
ORA-12705: invalid or Unknown NLS parameter value specified.
When i open google site.. the screens are in chinese .. this shows system has accepted the chinese character set.
My previous settings allowed me to connect to SQL but the data was junk characters like ???????????????
