Classloaders in a tiered environment
Hi Everyone,
We are currently deploying our application across 2 tiers. The first tier
contains web-apps running on Weblogic Express 6.0 sp2. The second tier
contains ejb's running on Weblogic Server 6.0 sp2.
The EJB's and Web-apps share a common jar called 'exceptions.jar'. This is
basically a jar containing the exceptions that our EJB's throw.
When using the web-apps we get ClassNotFoundExceptions' being thrown when
weblogic tries to unmarshal an exception that the EJB's may throw. I have
exceptions.jar packaged in the WEB-INF/lib dir of the web app (along with
the EJB proxies), and yet the web-apps classloader is unable to find any of
the exception classes.
Has anyone seen this? I know I can fix it by putting the jar into the
system classpath of weblogic express - but I really don't want to do this.

Tiered Architecture and Clustering
Hi,
Was wondering if anyone had problems setting up clustering in a
tiered environment. What we are looking to do is setup a load balancer
in front of a weblogic presentation tier (Servlets and JSP) that in
turn connect to a clustered application tier of EJB's. Just some
random thoughts:
1) Does the replica aware stub live in the presentation tier?
2) Does it make sense to put another load balancer between tier's? Or
just let the stub handle the load balancing?
Curious to know if anyone else has setup a similar configuration.
Regards,
Rick Mitterer
I have seen several such setups. You do not usually have a dedicated
hardware load balancer between the JSP/Servlet container and the EJB
container. The replica-aware stub is where the EJB client is, which is the
JSP/Servlet container.

Global Application Contexts - Where to set Client Identifier?
Hi,
I am trying to use global application contexts as part of an implementation of fine grain access control.
This is within an eBusiness Suite environment, specifically CRM, so is a multi-tiered environment.
Users access both Forms based screens and OA framework screens.
I believe I need to use global application contexts as users may have multiple database sessions.
Also, all users will login using the same database login account.
Provided I can set a unique identifier for a user that persists throughout all their sessions I can make use of the username and client_id parameters of set_context, below:-
DBMS_SESSION.set_context (namespace => 'XXUOM_CONTEXTS',
attribute => 'EXEMPT_FROM_VPD_POLICIES',
VALUE => l_exempt,
username => USER,
client_id => pi_user_id);
The difficulty I am having is finding a suitable place to set the client identifier.
I am not sure if the value is being cleared by some other code or if the value isn't being set in all sessions.
I am using:-
DBMS_SESSION.set_identifier (pi_user_id)
That I call from after insert triggers on either tables icx_sessions or fnd_logins.
However, the client identifier is always null when I query it from within the application, via:-
SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('USERENV', 'CLIENT_IDENTIFIER') from dual
If I set the value via a personalisation rule within a Form, then the value remains.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone can advise me on where I am going wrong.
AndyIt's a different patch.
The patch support have given me is 9275708, FND_GLOBAL.ORG_NAME RETURNS ENGLISH, EVEN WHEN SESSION LANGUAGE IS NOT.
This patch has been superceded by 12875860, HR SECURITY PROFILE IS NOT SET CORRECTLY.
So we have applied patch 12875860.
I've tried to find out from support what happened to the original patch and why it was removed/deleted rather than superceded.
I have not found it possible to find out what each of these patches does. There's very little documentation on them.
I have raised an SR.
The details are 3-4943519401: How to add DBMS_SESSION.SET_IDENTIFIER() to FND_GLOBAL.INITIALIZE.
The results of:
select fnd_profile.value('FND_CONNECTION_TAGGING') from dual
gives nothing on our Release 11 environment.
select * from fnd_profile_options where profile_option_name = 'FND_CONNECTION_TAGGING';
gives nothing.
On Release 12, the results are:
select fnd_profile.value('FND_CONNECTION_TAGGING') from dual;
ENABLED
select * from fnd_profile_options where profile_option_name = 'FND_CONNECTION_TAGGING';
returns a record.
Many thanks for continuing to look into this for me.

Initiating report printing from a web page to a network printer
I want to print to a user's network printer from a servlet. My development environment is a single machine so everything works just fine. The production environment is 3-tiered -- database server, web server and client. In the 3-tiered configuration the PrintReport class executes on the web server and seems to get lost. How can I print in the 3-tiered environment and still give the user the chance to change the printer or the print attributes? My java code currently displays a print dialog box to the user in the 1-tier environment.
I don't think you're going to be able to do that from a web page. Imagine if you visited my site and I decided that your printer should print every image in my "Special Donkey Pictures" directory...
You might be able to create an applet that you can feed the webpage into - into a JTextPane for instance, implement Printable and print from that. I say that without any real knowledge of Applets or what sort of security/signing issues there might be with that. -
DMZs in one machine, debate
Solaris Containers are ideal for server consolidation . I have thought about integrating DMZ services (www, mail, dns, db, catalog) into one physical machine. I'll provide a simple scenario.
I have seen examples in various presentations about using zones in a "virtual" multi-tiered environment, where you separate these server roles into containers in one physical machine.
Today, in a highly secured enterprise network archictecture, most of these services mostly run in different DMZs and are usually put into practice through use of switching and VLANs.
So where am I going with this?
Web-example:
You have DMZ:s: WWW, APP, DB.
- The WWW DMZ consist of multiple web servers/lets say they will be clustered zones.
- The APP DMZ consist of 2 app.
- The DB DMZ consist of several database servers.
Now, this is only the production environment. There will be a similar setup for test and development.
In total this gives a minimum of 18 zones in one machine, all need to have strict communcation rules through filtering.
Here's the actual question:
Would it make sense to separate these DMZs physically by adding 3 (3 dmz) physical NICs into that machine and physically connect these DMZ-NICS to a switch, configured to be on separate VLANs?
Is it even possible to do this technically? Is it even sane to have these services running in the same physical machine? I bet some security folks would consider this insane. Can IP filter running in a global zone filter traffic between zones? If not, then my solution could work, sending the traffic out and back in through an external firewall.
I wish to have a debate whether this is a good solution for DMZ consolidation of services.
Thank you.OK, NAT seems to be the solution for now. I will look into that.
I did a bit of research about this and found this paper:
http://www.sun.com/datacenter/consolidation/solaris10_whitepaper.pdf
This is an extract from chapter 8 (by the way, great paper):
"Traffic between zones hits the loopback before it hits the higher layers of the IP stack where IPsec resides. IPsec can be used between zones if traffic is forced to go out onto the wire via the routing table. Firewalls such as IP Filter can not filter traffic between different zones, such as between the zone and the global zone because this traffic is looped back within IP. IP Filtering is the same as IPsec, in terms of hitting the loopback between zones. One way to implement IP Filtering between zones is to put the zones in separate subnets with routers between them so that traffic is forced outside of the system. This introduces a slight trade-off in performance for higher security between applications running in different zones. If using firewalls, install them in the global zone and then configure specific rules for the zone itself. Packets sent from the zone always have the zones IP address as the source address, so this property can be used to filter traffic from the zone."
I might have misunderstood it, or the above is incorrect.
Next step is try to build this with any solution possible. I will post any success. -
Hi:
I know Instance Top has all configuration files and log files in R12. Would you please explain how does it work in one db and two apps tiers environment? How about cloning and patching? I really appreciated your help because i have an interview coming up.
Thank you for your help.Hi,
Key benefit of Instance Home is that as AutoConfig no longer writes to the APPL_TOP or ORACLE_HOME directories, both of these can be made into read-only file systems if required.
All configuration files created by AutoConfig are stored under the Instance Home.
Other benefits include support for read-only file systems and centralization of log files
Thanks,

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it's possible to install SAP onto Microsoft's SQL Developer Edition in Pre-Production platforms. Microsoft state publicly that Developer Edition has all the functionalilty of Enterprise and is essentially a rebadged Enterprise Edition with a development-centric Licensing model.
Furthermore, I understand that Microsoft's licensing documents cite a three tiered environment approach - Dev, Test and Prod - using Enterprise in production and Developer Edition in Dev and Test, as per pretty much any other SQL based environment.
I understand that the SAP system installation can be carried out manually (as opposed to the VBS scripted method), allowing the use of non-SAP provided media for the SQL installation but I'm unsure as to whether it will accept the Developer Edition installation at this point.
Thanks
WHi,
SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 are only tested in the Enterprise Edition by SAP. Therefore, only the Enterprise Edition is supported. The SAP support may not be able to solve problems that occur with other editions
if you want to try to use Developer Edition you need to install it manually check the installation document to install SQL server manually but do it as your own risk as SAP support is concern

Something about applet and database?
applet cant write and read from outer files.
but can it read from database?if i don't modify my security policies.zhangv,
We hava a web application with an applet in it that communicates with the server over HTTP. So, you need not worry about security. We use a multi-tiered environment. That is, the middle layer uses an application server (Sybase EAServer) and the backend layer is our database (Sybase ASE 12.5). Our application server fetches the data from the database and streams XML to the applet via a servlet. You can find a wonderful example for how this works in an article on Java world, entitled:
Title: "A J2EE presentation pattern: Applets with servlets and XML"
Subtitle: "Enhance your Web interfaces with powerful XML-configured applet components"

Hope this helps

S_oracle10 - Recovery in LINUX - Urgent
when customizing background images in OBIEE, I have replaced the s_oracle10 folder in linux machine(server) from s_oracle folder in my local machine(windows). so all the jpeg images and icons in the webpage doesnt seem to work.
Is there anyother way to recover the s_oracle folder in linux OS other than re installing the OBIEE in linux machine?
Suggestions are welcome.
Thanks.I'm deployed in LINUX 10.1.3.3.2 ... if you don't have a system back up or a multi tiered environment (dev, QA, stage, lab, training, production) I might be able to zip you the images via email.

Pre-Check Completed at Wed Oct 18 21:22:32 2006Hi,
Its good that u pasted the complete log file. In your environment you have to run this upgrade tool only once from any of the middle tier.
And with respect to your error that u got in precheck is quite simple. All u have to do is just run this script from by connecting to portal schema using sqlplus.
Run dropupg.sql
Location-------- /raid/product/OraHome_1/upgrade/temp/portal/prechktmp/dropupg.sql
Later you re-run the upgrade tool and let me know the status.
Good luck

How to Configure Multiple Portal Middle Tiers with a Load Balancing Router
Hi,
Portal version trying to install 10.1.2 on Windows 2003 boxes.
I am following the guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/portal.1012/b14037/cg_advnc.htm#i1046354. I have InfraStructure installed on a different box and am trying to install 2 Portal Midtiers each on separate boxes and using LBR. The above document is kind of confusing as I am trying to following
5.3.1 Step 1: Install a Single Portal and Wireless Middle Tier (M1)
5.3.2 Step 2: Configure OracleAS Portal on M1 to Be Accessed Through the LBR (AND FOLLOW ARE THE STEPS 1 to 14 in sequence)
if I follow 1 to 14 steps in sequence the information is not consistent what is being listed in the following sections
5.4.1 Create Virtual Hosts
5.4.2 Configure OracleAS Web Cache
5.4.3 Register OracleAS Portal with OracleAS Single Sign-On
i.e.
ptlconfig -dad portal -sso -host www.abc.com -port 7779
ptlconfig -dad portal -sso -host www.xyz.com -port 7779
as in the above steps it says to run
ptlconfig -dad portal -wc -site
and ssoreg command that always fails because I am running it from midtier as it gives error saying invalid username/password
as oppoesed to steps listed in point 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Can someone please privide the steps in sequence I need to follow when installing 2 midtiers with frontend LBR and one infrastructure. I am trying to follow the architecture listed in the above link.
Any help is really appreciated.
ThanksHi,
Will appreciate any inputs on the following.
I am planning to install Infrastructure and one Midtier BI Forms Reports Discoverer, Portal on one windows box and the second midtier BI Forms Discoverer, Portal on the second windows box.
Please correct me if I am wrong on installing and configuring the mid-tiers as following are the steps I have compiled going through the document and want to make sure this time I do it right.
As I'll be installing BI Forms Reports Discoverer, Portal so wondering when I install the second midtier do I need to unselect all Portal, Forms, Reports, Discoverer or just the Portal I need to unselect.
Also in the host file of both the windows boxes do I just need to keep the LBR IP Address entry and remove the rest.
LBR:_
Computer Name: bigip5.prd.com
IP Address: *167.123.2.5*
Listen Port: *80*
Invaidation Port: *9401*
Infrastructure:_
Computer Name: portal1.prd.com
IP Address: *167.123.2.6*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7777*
Application Server Control port: *1800*
M1 (Portal & BI Forms Reports Discoverer):_
Computer Name: portal1.prd.com
IP Address: *167.123.2.6*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7778*
OracleAS Web Cache Listening Port: *80*
OracleAS Web Cache Invalidation Port: *9401*
OracleAS Web Cache Administration Port: *9400*
Web Cache Statistics port: *9402*
Application Server Control port: *1810*
M2 (Portal & BI Forms Reports Discoverer):_
Computer Name: portal2.prd.com
IP Address: *167.123.2.7*
Oracle HTTP Server Listening Port: *7778*
OracleAS Web Cache Listening Port: *80*
OracleAS Web Cache Invalidation Port: *9401*
OracleAS Web Cache Administration Port: *9400*
Web Cache Statistics port: *9402*
Application Server Control port: *1810*
First to create MetadataRepository and then Install Infrastructure and then follow the below steps to install Midtiers
Install and Configure of M1 (Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer):-_
*5.3.1 Step 1*: Install a Single Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer (M1 i.e. portal1.prd.com)
*5.3.2 Step 2*: Configure OracleAS Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer on M1 to Be Accessed Through the LBR
*1.* Configure LBR
*2.* Follow Section 5.4.1.1 to create the Virtual Host for bigip5.prd.com (LBR) and portal1.prd.com (M1)
*3.* Define a site that matches the virtual host entry for bigip5.prd.com (LBR) on Webcache of M1
*4.* Use OracleAS Web Cache Manager on M1, to map the site bigip5.prd.com (LBR) to middle tier portal1.prd.com (M1).
Follow steps 5 and 6 as per the document
*7.* Configure bigip5.prd.com (LBR) to accept invalidation requests from the OracleAS Metadata Repository on a separate port i.e. 9401
*8.* Change iasconfig.xml on M1
*9.* run ptlconfig -encrypt
*10.* Register the URL changes with OracleAS Portal by running ptlconfig -dad portal -wc -site
*11.* No need as it is http only
*12.* Run the follwoing
MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\sso\bin\ssoreg.bat
-site_name bigip5.prd.com
-mod_osso_url http://bigip5.prd.com:80
-config_mod_osso TRUE
-oracle_home_path MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1
-config_file MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\Apache\Apache\conf\osso\osso.conf
-admin_info cn=orcladmin
-virtualhost
*13.* Edit targets.xml to enable monitoring of the LBR's front-end host and port settings for OracleAS Portal
+<Property NAME="PortalListeningHostPort" VALUE=http://bigip5.prd.com:80/>+ and then run
MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M1\bin\emctl reload
*14.* Test the setup
Install and Configure of M2 (Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer):-_
*5.3.4 Step 4*: Install a Single Portal and BI Forms Reports Discoverer (M2 i.e. portal2.prd.com)
*1.* As I am installing on wiondows so will not set IASCONFIG_LOC environment variable as I can just copy the iasconfig.xml file from M1 to M2
*2.* Run OUI on M2
*3.* Clear the selection for OracleAS Portal but don't know if I need to unselect Forms , Reports, Discoverer also.
*4.* Enable OracleAS Portal
*5.3.5 Step 5:* Configure the New Middle Tier (M2) to Run Your Existing Portal
*1.* Create both virtual hosts as done on M1
*2.* Copy dads.conf, oradav.conf, cache.conf, web.xml from M1 to M2
*3.* Re-register mod_osso on M2. To do this, perform the following steps by copying osso.conf from M1 to M2
*4.* Synchronize the DCM by using the following command
MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M2/Apache/Apache/bin/ssotransfer MID_TIER_ORACLE_HOME_M2/Apache/Apache/conf/osso/osso.conf
*5.* Run dcmctl updateConfig
*6.* add the necessary mod_rewrite and mod_oc4j directives to the httpd.conf and mod_oc4j.conf files respectively
*7.* Restart Oracle HTTP Server on M2
*8.* Access the OracleAS Web Cache Manager on M1 and follow steps 9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 for Webcache seetings and clustering.
Also will appreciate if can get some info on the following:
*1.*
When I configure the Webcache as per the Document but if I bring down one Midtier Instance the requests are not going to the other Instance that is up and ignores the case whether an instance is down. Any idea how what and where do I need to provide any setting which in case of instance is down routes the requests to the one that is up.
*2.*
What exactly happens when it says To enable monitoring of the LBR's front-end host and port settings for OracleAS Portal edit target.xml. Is this for LBR to find if an Instance is down or not and route the requests appropriately.
Thanks again for all the help. -
Printing issue in a 2-node clustered environment
Hi,
We have 2-node Apps Tiers (PCP enabled) with print queues running on each node. When users run a job to print a job using the same program; the print queue to the printer gets messed up.
For example: user 1 prints 10 items to printer A and user 2 prints the same set of 10 items but with a different numbers. The final outputs on the printer goes out of sequence -- 20 items printed with a combination of items from user1 and 10 items from user2.
The question is, in a PCP environment, is there a way to isolate the print job ..ie to allow the print job to complete on that printer and block it for other users/print jobs?
Environment: 11.5.10.1, 10.2.0.3, RedHat 4.x, 2-node PCP enabled apps tiers.
Thanks,
SubrotoHi,
The question is, in a PCP environment, is there a way to isolate the print job ..ie to allow the print job to complete on that printer and block it for other users/print jobs?I do not think can be controlled from the application (unless you use incompatibilities -- See the link below for details).
http://forums.oracle.com/forums/search.jspa?threadID=&q=Concurrent+AND+Incompatibility&objID=c3&dateRange=all&userID=&numResults=15&rankBy=10001
You may also check with your printer vendor and see if you can control this at the Printer/OS level.
Thanks,

Install Windows Server 2012 R2 VM on Storage Spaces with Storage Tiers
Hey guys
In my small/medium sized company we will soon update to Windows Server 2012 R2. I would like to implement virtual servers using Hyper-V. I didn't find a lot of information about Hyper-V in combination with storages spaces and autoamted storage tiers.
And this is very confusing to me as it seems to me that this would be the best practice as it is the most cost-efficient and most elegant solution.
My ideal scenario:
With Hyper-V I virtualize two Windows Server 2012 R2 instances. So two separate virtual machines.
I use the following disk setup:
1x cheap HDD 40GB for hyper-v server 2012 r2 core.
2x SSD 200GB (enterprise-grade)
2x HDD 4TB (7.2k, enterprise-grade)
Step 1:
I will install Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 Core on the 40GB HDD. Via command line, I will create a storage pool with automated tiered storage using the SSDs and the HDDs in mirrored mode the following way:
With Tiered Storage, I create a storage pool containing the SSDs and the HDDs. Then I create storage space A (1TB) and B (3.2TB) with the SSDs in a mirrored setup and the HDDs in a mirrored setup. The SSDs for the „hot files“ and the HDDs for the „cold files“.
Step2:
Ontop of the storage space A I want to install the first Windows Server 2012 R2 instance with Active directory. On storage space B I want to install the second Windows Server 2012 R2 instance for a business application to run on it.
Conclusion:
The SSDs are mirrored and therefore one SSD can fail.
The 4TB HDDs are mirrored and therefore one HDD can fail.
I have a fast and easy scalable environment.
But in the Internet I found many information that it’s not possible to install an operating system onto a storage tier.
Question 1:
Is this setup possible?
Question 2:
If this setup is possible, why is not everyone doing it?
Question 3:
Is it possible to do Step 1 over a GUI from a remote machine?
Question 4:
If the creation of Storage Tiers in the Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 is not possible. Would it work to use a Windows Server 2012 R2 as a parent system on the 40GB HDD? To do Step 1?
I would gladly get some feedback of people knowing Storage Tiers well.
Thanks a lot!I would absolutely prefer a GUI. But a Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard Licence allows you to run two VM machines.
It also grants you a physical installation ("POSE" in the licensing documents). You can buy one copy of WS2012R2 Standard, install it on the hardware, enable Hyper-V, and then operate two virtual machines with WS2012R2 Standard ("VOSE"
in the licensing documents). The only restriction is that the management operating system (POSE) can only run services and applications meant to manage the virtual machines and/or the management operating system. The Hyper-V Server license is the same way
so it's not really any different.
In short, given the benefits of the GUI at your stage of learning, you have no solid reason not to install the full system and take advantage of it. You can disable the GUI later once you get your footing. Or not. Whatever suits you. However, in response
to your Question 3, you can do this all remotely. Once you get WS2012R2 installed in a guest, you can use it to manage the management operating system if you want. There are many options.
But then I would also need to have redundancy on the 40GB HDD as if this HDD brakes, all others brake as well?
Yes, you're going to want some redundancy for the management operating system. But, you've listed 5 drives in your original layout. You don't really have a 5-bay system, do you? Is there an empty sixth bay? Could you not get two 40 GB drives instead of one
and use hardware RAID-1?

Application architecture in secure environment
Hello,
I am currently designing an enterprise application that will use a DBMS back-end. My environment has the DBMS and Web (Tomcat) servers sitting inside a very strict firewall, allowing only port 80 access. I need to know what is the best architecture to use for my application, given the several tiers and the firewall.
Should I use a 3-tier, with the DBMS being 1 tier, the business logic in a servlet, helping circumvent the firewall, and the UI in an applet and/or HTML/JSP page?
Thanks,
haighaigYou first have to have a look at the security policies
so you can see what restrictions your company has.
These policies and the requirements of the busines-
case reflect the architecture you design. From a tech-
point of view, you can have from 1 to a lot of tiers...
If you are using a DBMS, Tomcat and Apache and your only restriction is the port 80. So you integrate
Tomcat into apache and apache then forwards the
requests to tomcat what is kept within the server. It
is again a question of your policies and business
requirements (performance, scalability, availabilit
etc) how your DB-server looks like and where you place
it. While using JSP and servlets, you can talk to any
DB-server reachable by the network.
The use of applets has as well be dicsussed and
depends on your target audience, because some
companies drop applets with the firewall and these
people can in this case not profit from your web-
application. -
Deserialization issues in CEP environment
Hi,
I'm running Coherence in a CEP environment, though I'm not making use of the CEP API inside the Spring context. The cache is initialized in this most basic way:
CacheFactory.getCache(SomeAbstract.class);
It resides in bundleA, where SomeAbstractBase.class also is. There are several implementations of this base class across multiple bundles, and I would like to make use of Coherence to store these instances.
I was expecting deserialization issues so I figured this would work, but it doesn't. What am I doing wrong here? What is the best approach to do this?
Map<Long, ClassLoader> classLoaderMap = new HashMap<Long, ClassLoader>();
public SomeAbstractBase put(SomeAbstractBase so) {
ClassLoader old = cache.getCacheService().getContextClassLoader();
try {
cache.getCacheService().setContextClassLoader(so.getClass().getClassLoader());
classLoaders.put(so.getId(), so.getClass().getClassLoader());
return (SomeAbstractBase) cache.put(so.getId(), so);
} finally {
cache.getCacheService().setContextClassLoader(old);
public SomeAbstractBase get(Long id) {
ClassLoader old = cache.getCacheService().getContextClassLoader();
try {
cache.getCacheService().setContextClassLoader(classLoaderMap.get(id));
return (SomeAbstractBase) cache.get(id);
} finally {
cache.getCacheService().setContextClassLoader(old);

Setting the CCL of the CacheService is a one-shot deal, it cannot actually be changed once set (you have to shutdown the service and restart to do something different).Completely forgot about this as you mentioned in another thread.
You can also set the bundle CL as the CCL for invocations, but this may not always be necessary.How do I do this? I want it to be flexible enough to accomodate any future implementation that will be deployed in the osgi environment.Implement BeanClassLoaderAware, then when you make the call do something like:
ClassLoader saveCcl = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
try {
Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(beanClassLoader);
// do call here
} finally {
Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(saveCcl);
Note that if you are invoking OSGi services then Spring-DM will do this for you if you set the appropriate attribute on the reference definition.
We use hessian in our product which has much the same requirements as you and we actually found that it was difficult to avoid doing DynamicImport-Package: * in the bundle doing the serialization.
