  • Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2

    Hi
I am upgrading oracle 10G to 11GR2 in AIX 5.3 Environment with SAP ECC6 , I have just just installled Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 according to the "Database Upgrade Guide -Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". After database software installation , in upgrade manual in section 3.4.4 it says, you need to install current patch set for oracle database 11g R2 and referencing a SAP note 1431799.
I have just read note 1431799 which says Current Patch Set for Oracle Database Release 11.2 is not generally available for SAP customers until December 2010, also I donu2019t find the note 1522330 as mentioned in 1431799.
Please let me know how I can get current patch set to apply with Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 (Is it in SAP service market place?)
I also want to upgrade my installation to oracle 11.2.0.2, please let me know where I get the patch set to upgrade from 11.2.0.1.0 to 11.2.0.2,
    or
I have to live with 11.2.0.1.0 and apply SAP Bundle Patch ( SBP)

    Abu Al MAmun,
I understand from your posts that you recently upgraded to 11.2.0.2.
I am having the same difficulty, of finding the current patch set for 11.2. Could you please let me know how you worked around it?
    Thanks,
    Siri
    Hello Everyone,
I did read the post on to how you have to install the current patch set for 11.2.
But honestly, it pretty much flew over my head.
I am trying to upgrade our SAP AIX 64 bit test system from Oracle 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2.
And so far I have downloaded all the required sw for the upgrade, except for the current patch set 11.2.
This is what I have right now:
    1) Oracle 11.2 AIX 64 bit upgrade sw - 51038805_part 1 to 51038805_part 7 and 51039800.
    2) Database Patches -->Oracle 11.2.0.2 -->
    All they have here is
    a. Database RDMBS - SAP_112020_201012_AIX.zip and b. SAP_112020_201101_AIX.zip
    b. OPatch - OPatch_11201_Generic_v3.zip and mopatch-2_1_6.zip
    c. Database Vault - DV - >Generic - p9656644_112020_Generic.zip
If I am not wrong, the Database RDBMS files are nothing but the SAP Bundle Patches that have to be installed after installing the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2 using MOPatch.
But I did not find the currrent patch set 11.2.0.2.
Could someone please explain the process to me in detail? This being my first time , I am finding it a bit hard to catch up with some of the stuff.
    Thank You!
    Siri

  • Exception not throwing to action class in Unix environment

    Hi
We are using Weblogic Server 9.2.3.0.
One of our EJB is not throwing exception to calling Action class in Unix environment. Its working fine in Windows.
Somehow the EJB is swallowing the exception.
any idea? I suspect it may be environmental issue?
    thank you

Thanx for your reply.. I just found a solution and would like to share that with you. There are some default request parameters passed by the portal to the action class. "strutsAction" is one of them. If you print this parameters, you will see that it contains the complete url of your action. Now you can use String manipulation to extract the value of the parameters.
I know its a crude solution. But it works fine.

  • Install the latest patch set for Oracle 10.2.0.4.0

    I install SAP PI 7.1 EHP1 on Windows Server 2008 (RC1).
I already installed Oracle DB software 10.2.0.4.0
Now I would like to install the latest set for Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
I downloaded the following files from Service Marketplace:
    - p8559467_10204_MS_WINX8664.zip
    -p7592030_10204_WIN_GENERIC.zip
    - Opatch_10204_Generic_v5.zip
    - and 3 Patchset files (Patchset_10204MSWINX8664aa.bin, Patchset_10204MSWINX8664ab.bin, Patchset_10204MSWINX8664ac.bin )
    Question:
    1) What is the procedure/order to install the patch set?
    2) Where (in which directory) should I put the 3 Patchset files and which commando should be used here (opathc apply)?
    Thank you!

That one is for updates 10.2.0.<4 to 10.2.0.4. Since you are already on 10.2.0.4 that one is no more necessary.

    See Note 1137346 - Oracle 10.2.0: Patches/patch collections for Oracle 10.2.0.4
    Basically you will
    - patch Opatch
    - unzip the patch to a directory where <sid>adm has access
    - stop all Oracle Services
    - then execute opatch apply

  • User defined classpath setting using "-Djava.class.path="

    Hello,
    I am invoking a JVM from a C++ application ( say A ) which inturn will be started by another C++ application ( say B ).
The class path for the JVM is set by "-Djava.class.path=" option in application 'A' which will actually supplied by parent application 'B'.
I want to know how to do it ?
I tried with the following things but it doesn't work.
// the application 'A' gets classpath string from appication 'B' the "classpath" variable ( which is a string ) gets from application 'B'
// this is in application 'A'
// "classpath" variable in application 'A' holds the class path string optained from application 'B'
    "-Djava.class.path=" classpath ; ---(1)
    // "-Djava.class.path=" %classpath% ; ---(2)
    // "-Djava.class.path=classpath" ; ---(3)
All the above tries are failed in first 2 tries the application even doesn't get compiled and in third try the appilcation doesn't set the classpath even though it is get compiled.
Do any one have any Idea !!

    Hi,
I am not quite sure if I got your problem correctly...
Your application A has a variable called classpath containing the classpath recieved from B. right? Now you want to call the JVM with that.
I think what you got to do is something like
    sprintf(myclasspath, "-Djava.class.path=%s", classpath);
this will build the correct string for the JVM in myclasspath. And that one can be used to call the JVM.
    Does this sound right??

  • CLASSPATH setting for IAS installation?

    Hi
I am trying to install IAS 1.0.2 on Solaris. Everything seemed to be going okay until near the end, when I am informed by the installer that the SSOHash Class has not been loaded into the database.
I have attempted to follow the advice on metalink about using loadjava to load the classes manually, but it still errors. I believe that I may have the CLASSPATH set incorrectly. The installation guide states it should not refer to an existing Oracle home, but I did not have a CLASSPATH set up with my exisiting DB configuration. It does not advise what it should be set to.
Please can anyone advice what it should be set to if my directory structure is something like oracle/app/product/ias/ etc
    Thanks in advance
    Tim

  • Recommended OPEN CURSORS setting for Oracle serving a web app

    G'day
Hopefully Phil is still lurking here, so might see this.  Or anyone else that knows about Oracle.
I've always thought the default for "maximum pooled statements" setting for an Oracle DSN - which is 300 - is way too low to be sensible for a web app (which, let's face it, any CF DSN is going to be used for!).  I usually find I end up with it up around 1000-2000, depending on the sizeof the app, and how busy it is.
I'm adequate with monkeying around with Oracle, and have needed to do a moderate bit of that sort of thing in our dev environment, but I am by no means a DBA, so it's all very seat-of-the-pants.
So I'm keen to know what other people have their maximum pooled statements / open cursors setting set to for their Oracle-driven web sites/apps.
One of the reasons I'm asking is that I wonder if it might be worth while to suggest the default for CF9 is upped to 1000 or so..?
    Thoughts / comment?
    Adam

I personally would not set the limit any higher than 300, and I'd consider keeping it even lower.
Each pooled query / open connection is imposing resource-burdens on both the CF and the Oracle servers by creating what might be thought of as "a very crowded restaurant."  Most of them are just standing around, but they nevertheless are occupying the restaurant, and the potential exists that every one of them might try to order a burger-and-fries at exactly the same time.
The "number of pooled statements" should be such that your SQL-server can actually handle that number of simultaneous requests, both in terms of active searches and of maintaining the still-open result sets.  Beyond that point, incoming web requests should be forced to wait.  Set an "occupancy limit" to your proverbial restaurant such that everyone could come in and be timely served at the same time.
Categorically, if you plot out response-time graphs about such things (SQL servers, virtual memory subsystems, and so on), they exhibit a fairly-linear performance curve up to a point, after which "the elbow- or knee-point is reached" and beyond that point it becomes exponential in a very, very bad way.  I saw this happen in a batch-processing subsystem long ago on a very small mainframe:  (yeah, I'm makin' these numbers up...)
    Number of Jobs at Once
    Completion Time per Job
    1
    30 seconds
    3
    40 seconds
    8
    9 minutes
    12
    4.5 hours
It was just-about that bad.  And what I did to (dramatically...) address the problem was to impose simultaneous-job limits on that subsystem.  As long as the number of simultaneous jobs was constrained to "less than 3 at a time," a workload of 12 jobs could be reliably completed in (4 * 40) seconds, whereas if all 12 jobs tried to run at once, the computer would have reason to file a lawsuit for abuse.

    Hi Ramesh,
Firstly, go to "http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Software Downloads -> Database Patches -> Oracle -> Oracle 10.2.0.4  -> OPatch"  then download and install OPatch_10205_Generic_v0.zip
    Secondly, go to "http://service.sap.com/swdc -> Software Downloads -> Database Patches -> Oracle -> Oracle 10.2.0.4  -> Database RDBMS -> Generic (32-bit / 64-bit)" then download and install "Pre-Upgrade Information Utility utlu102i.sql (zipped)" and "p8350262_10204_Generic.zip"

  • How to set or change character set for Oracle 10 XE

    Installing via RPM on Linux.
I need to have my database set to use UTF8 and WE8ISO8859P15 as the character set and national character set. (Think those are in the right order. If not, it's the opposite.)
If I do a standard "yum localinstall rpm-file-name," it installs Oracle. I then run the "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure" command to set my ports.
Every time I do this, I end up with AL32/AL16 character sets.
I finally hardcoded ISO-8859-15 as the Linux 'locale' character set and set this in the various bash profile config files. Now, I end up with WE8MSWIN1252 as the character set and AL16UTF16 as the national character set.
I've tried editing the createdb.sh script to hard code the character set types and then copied that file over the original while the RPM is still installing. I've tried editing the nls_lang.sh script to hard code the settings there and copied over the original shell script while the RPM is still installing.
    Doesn't matter.
HOW can I do this? If I wait until after the RPM is installed and try running the createdb.sh file, then it ends up creating a database but not doing everything properly. I end up missing pfiles or spfiles. Various errors crop up.
If I try to change them from the sql command line, I am told that the new character set must be a superset of the old one. It fails.
I'm new to Oracle, so I'm treading water that's uncharted. In short, I need community help. It's important to the app I'm running and attempting to migrate from to maintain these character sets.
    Thanks.

I don't think you can change Oracle XE character set. When downloading Oracle XE you must choose to download:
    - either the Universal Edition using AL32UTF8
    - or the Western Euopean Edition using WE8MSWIN1252.
    See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/install.102/b25144/toc.htm#BABJACJJ
If you really need UTF8 instead of AL32UTF8 you need to use Oracle Standard Edition or Oracle Entreprise Edition:
these editions allow to select database character set at database creation time which is not really possible with Oracle XE
Note that changing environment variable NLS_LANG has nothing to do with changing database character set:

is there a set of document which I can give to my DBA or any best practice guide ?

    Hi Manu,
There is not much out there. Basically you have to set NLS_LANG to a UTF-8.
    The CMS must have
User with the following privileges enabled:
    u2022 create session
    u2022 create table
    u2022 create procedure
Alternatively, a user with the CONNECT and RESOURCE roles enabled, and the Admin Option setting disabled for both roles.
There is a installation guide that contains some info.
