Combobox ~ Empty  by default

Hi,
I have some problems with comboboxes which have not an empty
first line. Indeed, I have 4 comboboxes in cascade which are
informed by a xml file, and i haven't find the option to have the
first line empty, the first element of my xml file is automatically
posted, and so the 3 following comboboxes are.
Thanks for some help

First, this is not a Flex Builder question, so it should go
in the General Discussion forum, instead of here.
Look into the "prompt" property. Perhaps it will do what you
wish. Also, you might try setting the selectedIndex = -1;

  • Reverting USER FORMS back to "Empty" or "Default Page"

    Hi all,
I could really use some help with my situation here.
I have designed my User Form in such a way that it handles *"Employee Recruitment"* Process in an easy and straightforward way.
My User Form has two main Tabs : *"Employee Joining the Company"* and *"Employee Leaving the Company"*.
In other words : IN and OUT process.
The first tab is used to Create the Employee "file", and also update his current Status (if any thing changes while he is employed by the company).
The second tab deals with his Leaving the company (if he either resigns, or is kicked out).
    So far, so good.
However, sometimes, an employee is hired only on a "Temporary" basis. Meaning, a "fixed-term" contract. So, when his contract is up, he leaves the company.
But, what if he decides to COME BACK (or, if he is again re-hired by the company)?
To make it easier, we do not delete any employee's records from our IDM system (even after he has left the company). So, if he ever returns to work, his "*username"* is still in the IDM system, and can be revived.
But.............therein lies the problem. If an employee returns, we need to initiate an entirely new CREATE process for him.
Also, if he leaves the company again (for the second time), this requires a new OUT process.
    (a) Is it possible to initiate a new CREATE-process for a user, whose "username" already exists in IDM? In other words, he has already been "created";
How could I "erase" the previous "Employee IN" User Form, and re-input everything with a fresh, empty form?
    (b) similarly, how can I "erase" everything from the OUT-form?
In a nutshell : is there anyway to revert BACK to an empty User Form (default field values (zero)) ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi chapo.
    thanks for your reply.
*> I assume that when a person leaves the company that their rights in various application will be either disabled or disabled then deleted after a period of time. When this occurs this should remove most of the applications that a user is assigned to and resolve a potential security issue of a returning contractor having access to applications from a previous engagement*
Yes, this is true. Our IDM system is linked to other Resources (particularly Active Directory and LDAP). Naturally, when a user's account is DISABLED in IDM, this will also disable all accounts and access-rights in other systems.
*> In regard to the other information that may be stored. You could create an extended attribute that flags the user when they leave the company. When the person rejoins the company the form then resets attributes based on the existance or otherwise of the flag.*
This is the part that interests me the most. Because : I need the User Form to be "RESET".............in other words, all attributes set back to Default (a fresh, empty form), so the CREATE and UPDATE processes can begin afresh.
Please, could you specify how I could do this?

  • [SOLVED] Is /opt empty by default?

    Hello,
i had some issue installing a third party program. I downloaded it as binary, the only thing to do was to place it to /opt. It was a tar.bz2 file. it contents was opt folder, then PorgramName folder and so on. so i issued:
    sudo tar xjvf archive.tar.bz2
while being in the root(/) folder. everything looked like to run smoothly, but after that i wanted to check /opt and it had 0700 permissions and owner 1003.... wtf? i changed user and group to root and permissions to 755 and opened the /opt directory and the only contents in it was the content from the archive. Is /opt by default empty or did i screw something up? System seems to work normal. I really don't remember what was in /opt nor what permissions did it have before i issued that command. Could this way off unpacking the archive break something?

/opt will be empty unless you install something into it e.g. Java

Are you saying you installed the program without using pacman?  Using a PKGBUILD is the way to go here.

  • Package empty in default host firmware

    Hi All
I received this minor error and do not Know what is this

    Hi Amr,
The reason you see this message is because you have the "Firmware Auto Sync Server policy" set to "auto Acknowledge" or "User Acknowledge" (see screenshot below) and the default host firmware package policy has some empty values.   To clear this fault you can fill out the empty values in the default host firmware policy or what I would recommend is to set the "Firmware Auto Sync Server policy" to "No Actions".
Let me know if this helps.

In logfile it looks like this:

Any idea how to solve it.

    Hi,
The SET variables hold the member values. These values should be passed from the DM package. So, you need to add this dimension in the prompt statement of the advanced script of the DM package.
    Hope this helps.

  • Empty view/ default condition

    Hi,
I am using ADF/BC4J and have a ViewObject base on a query that is working as it should, but takes a little long to render. What I would like to do is to first render it with an always false condition (ie: where 1=2). In SQL it works great, but it does not shorten the time needed for rendering in the application. I suspect this to be due to the fact that when a WhereClause is used the query upon which the ViewObject is based is treated as a sub query in a from clause, which still needs to be executed.
So, how can I forbid a ViewObject to refresh/execute until some conditions (for instance an argument being present) are met?
    Thank you for your help.
    adsm

Go to the pagedef.xml file for your JSF page.
locate the view under the executables section in the structure pane.
    look at the refresh condition property and set it to ${adfFacesContext.postback}
This will cause the query to be executed only when the page is postback - which means not on the first time you invoke the page.

this is the thing I have to do.
Give  me solution to give saveas filename as empty after opening the excel on the browser.
<b>User has to enter his own filename it is allowing but I ahve to give filename default as empty space.</b>
    Thanks in advance
    Rama Krishna

    Hi,
    try
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename="+ filename);
This should force your browser to open the file in the same window.
And I had the problem with empty file name in save as, too. For our purposes, it helped to shorten the filename. But as I was told this depends on IE and OS versions.

  • How to use FlashVars to set the default option on a combobox

We are using XCelcius to display data in an XML file that is populated by another program using the Web Services approach.
On our widget, there is a combobox that allows the user to select a specific range of data.  In Xcelcius, the value of this combobox can be defaulted using the Behavior->Default Options->Combo.
This is good, but this also means hardcoding a particular value.  What we'd like to do is set the Default Option on the combobox via a FlashVar.
Is this level of behavior exposed via the FlashVars so we can define the default option in our HTML file?
    Thanks for reading.

unfortunately you cannot dynamically set the default option in 'Any' selector - so your Flash Vars approach will not work

  • Empty XML properties

In the weblogic-ra.xml that we are shipping with our RAR file, the
<ra-link-ref> and <native-libdir> are just included for completeness, but
don't include any values. They are being treated as non-null values in 6.1
beta. I think there should be a test for both null and an empty-string,
especially for the <ra-link-ref>, since an empty value will cause the RAR to
be deployed, but no JNDI entry is created. These are just 2 examples that
we have discovered, may exist for other cases.

    Hi Detlev
Thank you very much for your two answers. I will be looking into your answer regarding multivalued properties in the beginning of the next week.
    Regarding this question:
Sorry, I wasnt precise at all. I am thinking of ComboBoxes when it comes to leaving the default value empty. When I use ComboBoxes, the form automatically selects the first value (and when I use Browsers, the input field stays empty as default).
But I would also like to enable the user to select more than one value from ComboBoxes and Browsers. But that doesnt seem possible.

  • Saved VI file size changes when data is visible on a graph but not the default value

If a VI is saved when data is visible on a graph, the file size is larger; even though the default is set to be a blank graph.  I have tested this in LabVIEW 8.6 and 2009.  If you load the larger file, the graph is blank as expected.  If this behavior is by design, it appears odd to me.
    To duplicate the issue:
    Create a blank VI.
Add a Sine Waveform VI and set the number of samples to 1,000,000.
Add a Waveform Graph VI that spans the entire monitor and connect it to the output of the Sine Waveform VI.
Save the VI and note the file size.
    Run the VI.
Save the VI and compare the size to the original size.
The VI file size is larger.
In the Waveform Graph, select “Reinitialize to default value.
The VI file size returns to It’s original size.

Your obeservation is correct, and expected behavior.
This behavior is useful when you have inputs that you would like to set as defaults for the user.
Obviously, if there is a value to be saved, it will require some memory to store the value.
If the input is left empty by default, that memory is made available again.
It may not be easy to think of a good use for this for a graph, but think about for numeric or string controls.
What if the user isnt sure how they should input a certain parameter or value?
You could store a default value so they could see how they should input their value.

  • How to set a bookmarks default folder?

How can I set a default folder for bookmarks that I don't have to choose every time between "Bookmarks folder", "Bookmarks toolbar folder" and "Unsorted bookmarks" when clicking the star on the address bar?

During import, Designer attempts to match fonts in the PDF file with fonts that are available on your computer. If the file contains an unavailable font, Designer displays a dialog box showing the missing font and a suggested replacement. You can accept the replacement font or change it.
This font substitution is not permanent. Designer must map the unavailable fonts every time the form opens. You can make the font substitution permanent by selecting File > Save As and then selecting Permanently Replace Unavailable Fonts before saving the file. This method is recommended for permanently substituting fonts.
You can also set up a font-substitution table in the file ConvertPDF_FontMap.txt in the Designer installation directory. If you add a font-substitution rule to this file, all occurrences of the substituted font are changed to the new font when you import a PDF, regardless of the font-mapping table and regardless of whether the substituted font is available on your computer.
ConvertPDF_FontMap.txt is empty by default. Each entry you add should have the following syntax:
    input_font=Designer_font
where input_font is the name of the font used in the input PDF file, and Designer_font is the name of the font that is installed on your computer. Asterisks (*) represent wildcard characters. For example, the string *Cour* refers to all font names that contain the string Cour. Question marks (?) represent single-character wildcards. Adding wildcard characters before and after the input_font name accounts for any slight variations in the name of the font in the form. For example
    *Arial*=Arial
    *Helv*=Arial
    *Cour*=Courier New
    *=Times New Roman
Processing occurs in descending order. The last line in the example converts all remaining fonts to Times New Roman.

  • Programatically set runtime menu to default

I am trying to set the Runtime menu from a custom menu back to the default menu.  I write a string using the RunTimeMenuPath property node when the VI is idle.  All the basic combinations failed: empty string, "default", "default.rm".  When I open the VI and verify the menu change, the string I specified cannot be found and the menu is then reset to default.
Is there another way to set the RunTime menu back to default other than the RunTimeMenuPath property?

Found the solution to this problem.   The reference that I was using was generic Virtual Instrument and gave me at RunTime Menu Path as a string.  There was no way to clear the menu.  When I obtained a VI Refnum instead, setting the path to <Not a Path> changed the Run Time menu to the default.

  • A solution to hiding tool pane by DEFAULT in Reader DC

After I upgrade to Reader DC, there is always a tool pane when I open a pdf file. However, it is useless for most people at most time.
Although we can turn it off by clicking the arrow or use shortcut shift+F4, it cannot be turned off by default.
I do not understand what those people are thinking. How can they come up with such design!
One VP replied that it may take ~3months to fix this -- this is too long if they really want to fix the problem, only by switching the default setting.
Anyway, after searching this forum, I found one solution by tmmcentyre to hide the tool pane
This is only an ad-hoc solution, but works well for me.
Hopefully Adobe can consider this ugly design seriously, and fix it asap.
I just want to spread this solution so that people like me can find a solution to get rid of the annoying tool pane.
    From:
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1817184
    Thanks to tmmcentyre
Go to the install directory, i.e." C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader\AcroApp\ENU". Create a new subfolder (I used "Disabled"). Move 3 files from the "ENU" folder into the new "Disabled" folder: AppCenter_R.aapp & Home.aapp & Viewer.aapp. Open a PDF and no more Tool Pane!  I originally moved just the "Viewer" file but if you clicked on "Home" or "Tools" on the toolbar you couldn't go back to the "Document." Moving all 3 files takes care of that issue. Like a lot of people I don't and won't ever use any of the tools. I just want a reader. Let me know if this works for you.

I created this solution because I had problems switching back and forth between "Home", "Tools", and "Document" after applying the move/delete fix:
I edited the XML file "Adobe/Acrobat Reader DC/Reader/AcroApp/ENU/Viewer.aapp" to contain only this line:
    <Application xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/acrobat/app/2014"title="Viewer" id="Viewer" majorVersion="1" requiresDoc="true"minorVersion="0"/>
    What this does (for me):
The right hand pane <RHP> is completely hidden (no unhide available) at Reader startup.
To use a tool you have to switch to "Tools" and select a tool. If the tool places content in the <RHP> the pane is shown. In any case, if you switch back to the document, unhide is available again afterwards, although with no content, except from some tool you might have activated in the current session.
This solution deletes the <Layouts> for the <RHP> resulting in the <RHP> being hidden (and empty by default).
