Comcast overcharged yet ANOTHER customer. $280

I just got off the phone with ComcastDoesn'tCare. A couple of years ago, we switched to using our own modem for our Comcast business account. I verified that they would removed the equipment fee - and they did. Or at least I thought they did. They actually only removed it for 2 months, and then added it back on again. I have my bill set to autopay and trusted that Comcast was on the up and up. Last time I'll trust them! Today I was having problems with our service, and went to the support site on line. I checked my current bill to get my account number - and saw the equipment fee charge. It was then that I went back to review past bills and found that I had been overcharged between $9.95 - $12.95 a month for the last 2 years. As a business owner, I assumed it would be as simple as contacting Comcast to get a credit for the amount I have overpaid. This is what we would have done if any of our customers had overpaid us. Needless to say I was shocked when they said they don't refund any overpayments! Then, to add insury to insult, they offered a $30 credit as 'customer serivce'. Unbelievable! I am deaf, so fortunately I have a transcript of the entire conversation. I plan to submit the transcript to the Federal Trade Commission and my state's Attorney General's office. I'm interested in talking to anyone else who's been overcharged by Comcast.

  • Yet Another Customer Service Complaint

    For at least the past ten years, I have been a Verizon Wireless customer, & until recently, I have never had an issue with the company. Their plans have great pricing, the coverage in my area is impeccable, & the representatives in the store have always been more than willing to meet customer satisfaction.
    Until recently, that is. Last year, I upgraded my phone to the LG Rival, after my LG EnV was clearly out of date & useless to me. This is where the issues begin. Clearly, like any young adult, I purchased the insurance on the phone since accidents & loss are bound to happen. By the time summer rolled around, my Rival was having extreme software issues, due to no fault of my own. The phone would often freeze, the screen would glitch out, resembling a TV static screen, the phone would underline random words in red, it wouldn’t hold a charge, the phone would shut off or restart itself for no reason or in the middle of a text or phone call,  or it would completely shift the screen to the left or right so that only half of the screen was visible.
    I took it into the store of course & was informed that the insurance program had switched over to Asurion, & I would have to file a claim with them & wait the specified number of days for a new [aka refurbished] phone to arrive in the mail. Fine, I could deal with that, three days wasn’t too long of a wait to continue to deal with the piece of crap I was holding in my hand.
    My refurbished phone arrived, I shipped the old one back to them, & all seemed well. Until two weeks later, when the refurbished phone started showing the same symptoms as the first. First the charge started failing to hold. Next came the shutting off & restarting, followed by the screen shifting. Once again, I returned to the store. Went through the same motions, filed the claim, waited three days, & was once again gifted with a refurbished version of the EnV.
    Can you guess what was happening two weeks later? I’m sure you can. I went through this five times. *Five*. By the fifth time, they were completely disregarding what information I was giving them in the store, & had simply started shipping a new battery pack. Through November & December, I was in the store every few days, sometimes multiple times a day, seeing as I was not the primary phone holder or account holder. I was continually given attitude, shifted from person to person, & blown off.
    I’m used to this kind of treatment. I’m a twenty-one year old female with a mohawk, facial piercings, & tattoos. In the beginning, never once was I rude, irate, or anything other than courteous, laying out my plight in brief & to-the-point conversations, & simply asking for help. Towards the end, I had started making it clear that I was sick of being [Edited to comply with Terms of Service] around, that I was a long-standing customer who until recently had no issues with their service, & that I expected the situation to be remedied. What kind of service was I paying for anyways?
    It finally boiled down to I could either cancel my contract early, having to pay the fees, or I could buy a new phone at my own expense. My mother, who is the account owner, had finally had just as much as I had, & went into the store with me. Just as I had before, she laid out our problems, was calm with a business-like manner, & wouldn’t you just know it, she was treated much more receptively than myself & offered a different array of options. We ended up using the up-grade available on her line to acquire a Kin-Two for myself, since the available free Wi-Fi at hot spots was something that would [hopefully] end some of the hidden fees I had been receiving with my Rival. We extended our contract & once again purchased insurance on the device.
    A little over a month ago, on January 19th, we were once again hit with a larger-than-expected bill due to data charges. I will accept this as my fault; a little too much status-updating. She called customer service to have a data plan added to my phone. All should be just fine, correct?
    On February 4th, I was at a club with some friends & my phone was misplaced. Whether it was taken, slipped from my pocket, sat down somewhere, the reason is irrelevant. Point is I didn’t have it. We contacted Ansurion to file the claim, & they would not accept it. According to their records, on January 19th, the insurance on my phone was canceled, the same day we had the data plan put on it. We were told to contact Verizon. After doing so, we were informed that they couldn’t name the representative for us who canceled the insurance, because their system does not keep those kind of records. Now began the telephone shifting, from one representative to another as they very nearly refused to let us speak to a supervisor as requested. All we wanted was the insurance reinstated on the phone so that I could get another Kin-Two.
    They informed us that they no longer sold the Kin-Twos, nor did they have any refurbished ones in stock. They said that if they re-instated the insurance [which we would have to pay for] they couldn’t guarantee what phone would be sent, but that I would receive a new phone. No, I didn’t want to be sent a phone that would require a data plan simply to work, nor did I want some outdated phone that would just continue to glitch out a few weeks after receiving, as was clearly the issue in the past. They recommended we call our local store to see if they had any Kin-Twos in stock.
    Guess what our final options were? After speaking to the representative there, we were told that we could either purchase a new Kin-Two in the store at $430. Excuse me? I only paid $75 for the phone to begin with. Next option. I could wait until May when another of the lines under our names was eligible for an upgrade. Going four months without a phone? Not happening. Or, we could purchase a different phone, once again at our own expense. 
    I will admit that by this point, the two of us were pretty peeved. We asked what the cost would be to simply cancel the contract & take our business else where. $95 to cancel just my line, $365 to cancel all three lines. Both options were cheaper than buying a new phone, new insurance & extending my contract once again. Now, I know what some of you out there are thinking.
    “You were given multiple options to work with, & you chose to disregard each option.”
    With the experience & treatment I have received in the past year, & how often I have had to threaten to cancel my contract in order to receive any kind of help what-so-ever, so be it. I would rather pay $95 dollars & take my business elsewhere - say MetroPCS or Cricket where you can get unlimited everything for less than $50 a month. I’m not going to make my family suffer through the cancellation fees & start-up fees elsewhere since they both adore their phones & have no issues with them.
    That doesn’t mean that I am not greatly **bleep** off, insulted, & dissatisfied with what I have had to deal with. I don’t know exactly what policy changes have been made within the company from recent mergers & such, but the website’s claim of “Expect the best customer service at every turn from our employees,” is complete & utter rubbish. The customer service we have dealt with in the past few months has been nothing but, & excuse my French, complete **bleep**. 
    I *will* be cancelling my contract & taking my business elsewhere, & you can bet I will be informing anyone thinking of switching to Verizon of my experience. Friends of mine have been dropping Verizon left & right due to the fact that just because you offer great coverage & plans, doesn’t mean that you can treat the people paying you their money each month like trash. For those who continue to adore Verizon, just wait. 

    Absolutely Horrible Customer Service - both in the store and the 800 number.
    My phone quit working - not my fault. I was suppose to get a replacement overnight and if for some reason it didn't arrive overnight, I was assured that it would be delivered Saturday. Today is Monday, no phone. They put the wrong address on the shipping form and they don't know when I will get it.
    They won't send another one because there is a phone out there and they have to get it back first. They know I don't have it. Ridiculous!
    Why don't they have replacement phones in the store. Option 1: phone breaks, go to store and get replaced same day. Option 2: phone breaks, wait for phone to arrive in mail and hope it is the next day. One is more convenient for the customer and the other is more convenient for Verizon. Seriously - It's not brain surgery.
    The lack of concern among the 3 Verizon employees I spoke with was unbelievable. "This is just the way we do things. There is nothing I can do to help you." The store manager doesn't know how Verizon's replacement service works or how long it takes for them to notify FedEX to correct the delivery mistake and get the phone to me! "I can't control FedEX." No but you're the reason they delivered the phone to the wrong address. Rep had the nerve to tell me he would "correct the address mistake IF I wanted him to." Under what circumstance would I not want him to????? Absolutely, no acceptance of responsibility!!!
    Cell phone companies should not be allowed to require two year contracts but should have to provide month to month service. They KNOW they don't have to treat you well or provide service with these long term contracts. They know you have no recourse.

  • Yet another customer getting screwed on a phone return

    I bought a brand new phone in April of this year. In July it stopped working so I took it in to the store and they ordered a replacement to be shipped to my house.  When I got the replacement I followed the instructions in the package and returned the defective device by taking the box to the post office.  The package pick up was confirmed by FedEx by tracking number on July 12. 2 days ago I started getting messages from Verizon that my account was past due- I was shocked to find out my current bill was listed at 875 dollars because I am now being charged $649 plus tax for the refurbished phone I received because supposedly my defective device was not returned. On top of that, the automated bill pay I set up through my wireless online account in July had not been working at all although I had received no notifications. I immediately paid the past due bill amount but not the value of the phone. 
    Monday morning I called customer service and spoke to someone who confirmed that the phone had been picked up by FedEx but not entered back into the system by the warehouse.  He gave me a line about "sometimes the label is damaged and they set it aside to deal with when they get a call looking for that device." He also told me that the cost of the phone would be put on hold on my bill and I wouldn't have to pay it. 
    For the last two days I've been getting messages from Verizon that my account is past due and scheduled to be disconnected, although there is no further information about when this might occur.
    I also emailed Verizon yesterday through the help contact info on the website. I'm now posting this here because I see they do this exact same thing over and over. 
    My question is to anyone else who has gone through this and not created a forum post- how did you resolve the situation? I'll be contacting the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint on Monday if this problem has not been resolved by then. I expect the value of the phone, the tax charged to me for the phone, and the late fees for July, August, and September to be returned to me.

    It's great that you saved the tracking number for your package as that really helps us with the process of locating the information with FedEx. Did you ever see if FedEx showed the package as delivered? Based on your details it sounds like FedEx lost the package and luckily we have a process to report this over and get the credit on your account. Did they advise you if they were filing this investigation for you? If not I would ask that you please follow me (MariaC_VZW) and send me a Direct Message with your details so we can get this taken care of as soon as possible.
    When you're advised of a late payment and we confirm with financial services that there's an open investigation for the credit, we place a hold for five days on those funds to avoid disconnection. The past due alerts can take up to 24 hours to stop. Did they exceed that time? Please update us on the status of this trouble so we can avoid any disruption of service that isn't your fault to begin with.

  • Yet another customer with Photoshop CC crashing on opening!

    Photoshop CC keeps closing as soon as it opens on my PC. I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled over five times since starting my subscription to CC two days ago, to no avail. I have thoroughly cleaned my PC, followed all the advice I can find about resolving the problem, but no luck. There have been a couple of variations: the aspp has opened and then asked if I wish to migrate my CS6 setting to it - I have tried both options, but the app just closes. I also manage to open a photo ready for editing. but as soon as the photo appeared in the editing window I was asked if I weanted to svae it and the app then closed.
    I am at my wits end and increasingly annoyed with Adobe. Can anyone please help before I am faced with the inevitable choice of cancelling my subscription?

    I spent about four hours today in discussions the Adobe Technical Team trying to sort out the problem. There was no standard solution and the issue was about to be escalated when a solution was found by Syed Faraz on the team. I have just been testing its robustness and so far so good.
    Unfortunately I have no idea what caused the problem as my desktop was temporarily taken over. However, so far4 so good and I was much impressed by the patience and determination shown by Mr Faraz.

  • Yet another customer unable to set up account in eprint. come on guys... a little help?

    Printer installed fine.  I received the page with my eprint printer number and instructions directing me to register at eprint center to add the printer numer. 
    Eprint center will not let me create an account.  fields allow for inputting of information, but submit key does nothing.  I receive an "Error on Page" message.

    Thanks.  One would think that as much as they advertise the wonders of "eprint" --  that they would fix problems with it quickly.  One would think....

    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 and looking for yet another way of customizing the display of an attribute of a view object.
    I have two tables: BILL and AWARDS, with composite foreign key relationship (on the LDAP_UID and TERM fields) between them, as illustrated below.
    The BILL table:

When tom.smith logs in and chooses the 200902 TERM, the master and detail are joined on tom.smith=tom.smith and 200902=200902, so the $2,000.00 of Perkins loan is retrieved for him:

    Perkins   $2,000.00That works fine but not user friendly: the values in the TERMS column are a bit cryptic and need to be displayed in plain English, i.e., 200902 should be displayed as "Spring 2009" and 200906 as "Summer 2009". The display hints in the VO can not handle this. The only other way I know is writing a method in the Row class of the VO to do the translation. And this is the result:

    No rows yet   Obviously, "Spring 2009" is used not only for display, but also for joining the master and detail tables. Of course "Spring 2009"!=200902, therefore no detail is retrieved for the user.
    Question is: is there yet another way to customize the display, that does not affect the join of master and detail tables?

    That works!
    I found the chapter where transient attribute is explained and an example is given creating a transient attribute in the entity object. It turned out that transient attribute works both in entity object and view object. I did it in the VO and it solves my problem.
    I spent hours of time before posting that question, trying two different ways but neither worked. Your one sentence saved me a lot of time. I do appreciate you help very much!

  • Carbon - yet another terminal emulator

    What is carbon?
    Carbon is yet another terminal emulator aiming at minimalism, speed, functionality, and aesthetics. As an added bonus, the code is very modular.
    Carbon is built on xcb instead of Xlib. There has yet, to my knowledge, a terminal emulator built like this. This should prove to provide a faster and more responsive terminal.
    Features
      * Support for managing different colour themes.
      * Ability to install custom escape sequence handlers.
      * Daemon mode much like urxvt, possibly with some degree of detaching/reattaching support.
    While I haven't figured out how I'm going to handle configuration, I will utilize custom escape sequences to control certain settings. For example, unless I find it unsatisfactory, carbon will provide a shell script for theme changing/previewing, relying on escape sequences to tell the terminal what color theme to use.
    The code it somewhat suckless inspired, it will utilize a config.h file by the time its done. However, I have a somewhat bigger aim on making carbon modular than most suckless projects. The terminal emulator back-end should be easily reusable other projects.
    Current status:
      * I can create a tty and read and write from it.
      * I can parse CSI escape sequences (but I ignore them for now)
      * I can read keypresses from a windows and send the appropriate character to to the tty (at time of posting, this is not committed to repo).
    Not really worth running as it doesn't draw to the screen yet, but its getting there.

    Sorry, I really wasn't very clear, and I'm not positive how to say it.  I'm perfectly happy with being able to scroll through history.  That's a useful feature.  But consider this situation: You're checking out the git man files.  This gives you a page far longer than your terminal is, and you work your way down to the command you wanted to check out.  Then, when you quit, I prefer if the info stays on your screen instead of removing the git man page and going back to what you had before calling man.  Hopefully that makes sense.  If not, think the default behaviour of screen (prefered) vs. xterm.

  • Another Customer that Regrets Staying with VZ

    Been with Verizon for several years, and was satisfied with FIOS service. From the value paid for services, sadly can't say the same. We cut the cord last Fall and had Triple Play bundle -- we still had to subscribe to a TV package to watch / record shows on cable networks, as well as pay the $5 monthly fee to rent the cable card. We were no longer under contract, but the "barebones" Triple Play without STB, DVR service still cost $124.99 --> $150+ with fees and taxes.  Like everyone, we constantly get mailers for these great offers, which of course, are only available to New Subscribers. Called in to cancel service & switch to Comcast Xfinity. The customer representative convinced me to stay with Verizon. He arranged for service to be cancelled the day before the install. After the call, we decided to downgrade to the Custom TV plan -- also was frustrated how all the promises made by the representative wasn't documented in the automated emails that were delivered much later that day. Called back the following day and spoke with an awesome representative who was incredibly helpful to ensure we were getting the best value in services and stayed in our budget (already invested in building out a HTPC and tuner - which we had hoped to recoup in savings when we returned the STB and dropped DVR service). The representative sent follow-up emails IMMMEDIATELY and during the call of the promises of $350 prepaid Visa gift card & installation, activation fees would be waived -- they still have to send a technician out for ??? (On day of install, everything was up and running...the tech didn't even know why he needed to come to the house) After the "install," we decided to change the channel packs. For whatever reason, the My Verizon portal is SUPER SLOW. We wanted to change the channel packs, and inadvertently changed the internet speed from 50/50 to 25/25.  Called back the following day, which was a HUGE MISTAKE. We had received a promotion to upgrade to 75/75 with Quantum FIOS gateway router stated as "Free." The customer representative was definitely shifty ... the representative gave me a quote for the first monthly bill - but assured me that whatever promised were made previously would be honored & to disregard the $60 + in fees (which are broken up into 3 monthly charges) ---> WHY DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR ANOTHER INTERNET ACTIVATION & INSTALLATION ???? The representative REFUSED to send any follow-up communication, stating he didn't have access & "not to worry." I was totally furious when I received the email with preview of first monthly bill with the new changes -- which didn't arrive until later that day.  FINALLY received the first monthly bill. The bill is 8 pages long.... obviously the rep hid the "Free" router ... now we're going to pay $185 for the next 3 months. In addition, the bill contains charges for random "deferred" charges from 2010.  At this point, I'm willing to pay the ETF, 3 weeks into service (as we didn't get the first monthly bill until 2 weeks after service). FWIW: the quantum router is worse than the older router. And watching FIOS TV is a horrible experience, with audio constantly dropping.  OH: I love the daily reminder calls at 7AM every morning that we haven't returned our equipment. They now have new policy: $650 penalty EVERY MONTH is charged. BYE VERIZON...

    We're pulling the plug.  Got an antenna for about $100 (we get 65 free stations), got a Channelmaster DVR+ for around $300 (it has everything a cheaper TiVo has but with NO monthly fee EVER), and got a terabyte hard drive for around $60.  Expensive up front, but we're paying nearly $200/month for a home phone we never use and a TV lineup with channels we don't watch!  We'll keep high-speed Internet, but I'm hoping to save at least $100/month after we regain what we spent in equipment costs and for paying a six-month early termination fee.  With our free channels, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix, we'll be paying only $30 a month. We also switched to Republic Wireless--unlimited calls, text, and 1 gb of data for me is $25/month.  If I don't use all the data, I get a refund on the next month's bill.  For my husband it's unlimited calls, text, and .5 gb of data for $17, again with a refund for unused data. I'm thinking that the days of these big companies gouging everyone are coming to a close as people wise up.

    iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    Upgrade seemed to be fine, at first . . . now I keep getting distortion on songs. It seems to be quite random and just because a song has been distorted when I've listened to it once doesn't mean it will be when I listen to it again! It's driving me insane. Is this yet another bug or have I done something wrong (apart from upgrading to 7.5).

    If you have a Windows based operating system such as XP -
    It seems to me that you are suffering what I am having the same problem with - the program takes up to much of your computer's processing usage. If you go into your task manager and watch performance as ITunes runs - you will see how much of the total computer usage it is taking at any given moment - that's why your songs are distorted, slowing, garbled, etc - the usage on mine spikes from 11% - 93% AT ANY GIVEN MINUTE! I have no idea why, but I have found that by going to your "Control Panel" and clicking on Quicktime you can adjust audio output to help. Click the audio tab, click Safe Mode Wavout only (checkbox) / Then adjust the "Rate" to 96kHz / Then adjust the "Size" to 16 bit. Close that and shut down and restart Itunes - it might help a little for you.
    Maybe someone out there can help us find out why we are suffering with all the CPU usage trouble and how to adjust that spiking.

  • How to clear customer open items by another  customer open item

    I have a problem, we need to assign  and clear the open items of one customer with another customer from same company code. is it possible?
    for eg: I have a customer X whose Debit balance is USD1000 and Cusomer Y is having Credit balance is 1000. Customer Y is agreed to settle the amount to customer X.
    since customers are not related , we dont maintain any relationship in SAP. how do we post and clear the open items?
    please let me know the procedure.

    Hi,
    When the moment you finish choose open item for 1st customer and then you have to press F7 (Charge off diff.) new screen comes then press F6 (Choose Open Items), then enter required data for 2nd customer (such as customer code, doc number, etc). You can post partially, and residually for this clearing posting.

  • Yet another No Service iPhone 4, second hand

    Hi all,
    Apologies for yet another topic about the No Service issue on the iPhone 4. I bought a secondhand iPhone 4 16GB 2 days ago after having a 3GS 32GB for 18 months with no problems. iPhone 4 was just over a week old when I bought it (warranty date shows when it was first activated), on the O2 UK network like my old one.
    All was fine for 2 days, was receiving and making calls and texts etc with no problems. But since late afternoon yesterday the phone has mostly said No Service. It occasionally goes onto O2-UK but with no bars of signal so calls and texts still fail immediately.
    I've tried all of the tips I can find online to resolve this, airplane mode on/off, reset network settings, restore from backup, restore as new phone, hard resets. But nothing's working.
    I can take out my SIM and put it into my 3GS, in the same location, and get 5 bars of signal, all my texts come through. Then put SIM back into iPhone 4 and straight away, No Service.
    I've made a Genius bar appointment for tomorrow afternoon, but I'm wondering what happens regarding the fact that I'm not the person who bought the phone in the first place? Will this be an issue?

    I spoke to o2, they checked my SIM is activated and said they don't need a record of my IMEI number. Still saying No Service so will have to see what the "Genius" says tomorrow!

  • Yet another Mac Book Pro (A1211/2.33 GHz) freeze problem

    I have yet another freeze mystery, if people fancy having a crack at it.
    I had this notebook for about 4 and a half years and it served me well until 2 months ago. It is a 15' MBP from December 2008 (A1211) with a 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo and 2GB of RAM.
    Now I constantly get lags or freezes while I am using it.It manifests itself via the beachball and a frozen screen. First, I thought it was the hard drive but I replaced it with a tested new one and I still get the same behaviour. The reason I thought it was the HD is that it seems to freeze often when there was a lot of access to HD or memory. For example, firefox would cause a freeze quite often when it was trying to access the cache or history. I get the same behaviour when trying indexing my music for the genius feature. Often when I close applications, it will halt the system for about 2 minutes.
    I think the number of lags also correlates with temperature. I am pretty sure that the notebook's heat diffusion properties has deteriorated strongly over the past year as it seems to be using the fans a lot more extensively. The heatsink seems to get really hot these days as well. So my next step would be checking the thermal paste on the heat sink. Before I am going to do that, I want to consider any remaining options as dismantling the laptop up to the heatsink is a bit of a pain.
    My gut feeling would be that it has to do either with the memory or maybe some 'bridge' that transfers the data between HD, GPU, CPU and memory. I am aware that bridge is the wrong word and I am simplifying the architecture of the mainboard too much, but I am sure you get what I mean. The data rate between some of those is inhibited.
    The reason why I am saying some is that often the system seems overwhelmed by the amount of commands, just sits there and then resumes executing all of them as it had taken a break. This can be easily seen when streaming video in a web browser. I often get the beach ball and my whole screen freezes, but the movie, or at least the sound, keeps running in the background. After a while it usually resumes and shows the movie at the current playing position. Sometimes it doesn't recover, not even after 30 minutes and I have to switch it off.
    I hope I provided enough information for you guys to have a think about this.
    Any help in this matter would be gratefully appreciated.

    I've followed the directions since they seem to make sense and am waiting for the next Pinwheel of Death. They seem to be saying the same thing you are Chris, but ascribe the problem to 'permissions' which are fixable (gasp) via the OS disc utility.

Unfortunately on these days I'm in a country that Apple don't have any retail store here and for sake of time I prefer to fix it myself to DHL it to the nearest country to use its warranty.     Sorry for yet another grey folder thread, but here goes:
    Today, earlier, installed Firefox update, along with some addon updates for that program. Quit Firefox and attempt to relaunch, relaunch fails. Reset computer, thinking that will do the trick, I now have grey folder with question mark.
    Resolve attempts: reset pram = fail; apple care cd = will not launch/fail; disk utility from original install disks = fail; cannot get repair of disk or permissions to work, continually get error about "failing on exit"; safe mode launch = fail
    So, I've done everything, and I've come to conclusion that I am f***, and my HDD is fried (but I hope I am wrong).
    So, dear gurus, my question(s)
    A) Is my HDD salvageable at all? is there some trick to getting the AppleCare cd to work? Anything?!?!
    if not, then B) How can I recover my documents/music/pictures? Long story short, there are several things on there that never had a chance to make my back up schedule, and I desperately want to keep them. Any way to make/copy a disk image to save the docs/imgs, or Firewire them to an external hdd? Do I need to consider a professional HDD rescue?

    Looks like a mechanical failure, and Apple won't cover the replacement due to a drop it sustained a year or two ago (the power cable was in, and it fell on the connection point, denting that in, Apple states there is a critical board their and that it would be $950 Tier 3 repair which I can't afford). So I'm going to try a Firewire Migration and a few other things and see if that works. If not, oh well. Thanks everyone for the ideas!
