Company code merge, take over salesorganization, purchase org and plant

Goodmorning,
We have to merge two company codes. The management would like to keep the same salesorganizations, purchase organizations and plant,
Does someone know if it is possible to link a plant, purchase organization and salesorganisation  from one company code to anothher one. If so which problems can we expect?
Who has experience with this?
Or is it better to define a new salesorganization, purchase organization and plant  and perform a conversion.

Little confused with the functional objective behind what you are trying to do.
From Finance prospect all that you should be concern about is that if there is any open PO  for which the MIGO is done and MIRO is pending. And from SD side you need to see if there is any open SO for which the billing is pending.
Then you need to chalk out a plan to migrate those transactional data.
For all other FI related migration as long as you are maintaining the history of the Record at transactional level there should not be any probelm in the future.
For MM and SD related Migration please create Balance sheet GL account sepertely and track the upload(example Initial Upload 1 for MM and Initial Upload 2 for SD).
if you are having seperate GL account you will be flexible enough to back track the entry posted if there is any problem.
Regarding the MM and SD merger to the best of my knowledge there should not be any problem. But it is definately worth consulting this with SD and MM consultant once.

  • Central Purchase Org and Multiple co codes

    Hello everyone,
                          We are working in SRM 5.0 classic deployment and PDP scenario. We have an issue. We have central purchase org and multiple co codes. So one purchase org will be responsible for all the co codes. In the backend system, pur org is not assigned to any co code since it is a central pur org. Now in SRM , we created a root org, under the root org we created different companies and at the same level i.e under root- purchase org is created and then purchsae groups. In attribute BUK of purchase org, all co codes are assigned. When we check BBP_ATTR_CHECK for this purchase org, we get an error- "company cannot be determined. So we'll not be able to shop. Please let me know if anyone has ever worked on this scenario and whatz the solution? Suitable points will be awarded for the useful answers. Thanks in advance.

    I would not suggest this as an approach. First question is what kind of accounting reports do they need on plant level? Is it AR/AP items per plant or complete set of financial reports include BS and P&L statement.
    WERKS field exists in BSEG, so I guess some report can be generated to represent open items on this level.
    But if you need deeper division in the company on this level, then segments or business areas should be used.

  • Company Code Merger

    We are performing a company code merger at the end of this year. We currently use two operating company codes but we exist as a single legal entity. The smaller company code will be discontinued and all operations will be in the larger company code. There is no requirement to continue reporting the smaller company code as a separate division within the single company code.
    This is obviously a lot of work. Does anyone have any SAP 'standard practice' documentation on the best approach for this?

    We did a company code merge a 3 years back.  We found no standard guideline.
    In addition to Murali's comments, you must have concern for the production (discrete/repetitve/process) orders. We are discrete manufacture.  ALL order were DLV or TECO (big processes) and settlement run. WIP orders recreated (We completed as much as possible to minimize WIP); Sales order recreated in final company and new demands created for POs and Prod orders.
    Inventory - Inventory account balances will have to be moved to final company code books. We combined the plants at the same time so all inventory moved from one plant to the final plant, with these steps:
    1 - released new cost estimates, pointing the obsolete plant at the final so all inventory was the same.
    2 - used the "initial inventory load" program, ran a 562 to remove all inventory
    3 - then ran a 561 to load all inventory.
    4 - Journal entries were written to clear the "initial inventory load accounts"
    Not a pretty process - but do-able with few side-effects

  • SLO for company code merger

    Hi, I understand that the SLO allows the ability for merging of multiple company codes, eg A1 and A2 become B1 (it also allows conversion from old to new values, eg C1 becomes D1...)
    However, does it treat records intelligently, eg
    A1 has $100 loans payable with A2
    A2 has $100 loans receivable with A1
    SLO merges A1 and A2 to B1
    After SLO, what do you get?
    - nothing, or
    - B1 has $100 loans payable with B1
       B1 has $100 loans receivable with B1

    I am part of the SLO Team.
    Yes, SLO has many services in regards to Company code. We do Company code merge, CC deletion, CC Split, CC Rename etc.
    As the business requirement is unique for each customer, we have lot of flexibility in deciding the outcome/result of the new company code.
    From your above example, YOU can decide how you would like to maintain the new CC B1.
    You could either close both loans prior merging or also cancel it out as both CC are merged.
    Generally for any CC service we do a complete analysis of your system and decide how to merge the CC.

    Then you assign all plants to your P Org. This assignment is must. You may assign Porg to your company code or not.
    If you don not assign P org to company code , while creating PO you have to enter the company code.

  • Merging take over comany with existing company

    There is one scnerio, existing company having SAP 4.7. Company buy the 3 compatitor companies who were dealing in same product line and want the SAP to be implemented in those companies also. I need information how SAP can be implemented in those companies, it will be new implementation or coping all master data in SAP and what documents need to be prepared.

    I am agree with you, My client company take over 5 companies in last 4 years. Now they want all companies should work under SAP, as main company already has SAP.Some products are same some products are different. Client using same plant (one commanplant) for distribution. So in global roll out project, whatwould  be the deliverables, phases and approximate time for implementation, team size would be required. It is mid size 5 billion company, 4000 employees.

    Purchase Organisations can be based on material type.
    purchasing org is where negotiations & vendor finalisation is done by the procurement team. this purchasing org is responsible for all material types.
    you have decentralised policy of procurement. raw material is managed at corporate level, centrally. and non-stockable, fast moving items are managed at plant level.
    You can have a individual purchasing org for each plant and assign it to them. a central purchasing would be assigned to all plants. You can keep the central purchasing org as reference purchasing org.
    when you want that the prices fixed by central pur org should be applicable to all plants, then you need to create contract (OLA) in reference pur org. this contract is applicable to other plants by default.

  • Clarifications on company code merger

    Dear SAP Experts
    We need to merge two company codes i.e XXXX & YYYY into one new entity(Thailand). Legally both entities will be closed by 31st Mar 2011 and merged into newly registered entity on 1st April 2011 (FY V3 - April to March). Their existing VAT Registration is also canceled and taking new VAT Registration number for the new entity which will be active from 1st April 2011.
    The new entity will be using the same name and company code i.e. XXXX (say XXX Company Ltd) iin SAP and company code YYYY closing balances and open items will be Merged into XXXX on 1st April 2011.
    My requirements are:
    1. Can we use the same Production Client post merger as the company code is same (XXXX) before merger and post merger? Is there any legal/statutory obligations with respective to SAP?
    2. How to handle open items & intercompany transactions of company code YYYY?
    Client using ECC 5.0 version and New GL is active.
    Both the company codes are using same Operating Concern, Controlling Area, Chart of Accounts, Chart of Depreciation, Currency & Country.
    Addl Info :
    Valuation area at Plant Level
    Cost of Sales Accounting is active
    Only One ledger is in operation i.e. OL - Leading ledger
    No Non Leading Ledgers are active
    Material ledger is not in use
    The volume of transactions are very less for the company code i.e YYYY hence they are not interested to proceed to create new company code and transfer the balances of both company codes in to new entity and they are interested to transfer the open items/balances to company code XXXX on 1st April 2011.
    We referred previous posts and didn't get the required answers and posted with our requirements with all the details to avoid miscommunication. Even we referred SAP SLO service and kept it is an final step.

    My suggestions to your requirements:

    => You have to create new company code  XXXX after post merger and you can update new VAT and other statutory obligations in the new company code
    2. How to handle open items & intercompany transactions of company code YYYY?
    => Make a final data of all the Master datas, remove duplicate Master data e.g. same customer / vendors. Discuss with each Business Owner and finalize the open item after doing year end closing and posting necessary adjustments and intercompany transaction posting.

    Want to know information about company code currency changes.
    Our company code currency is SGD and now want to change to USD.
    Our fiscal year is Jan-Dec and we are in SAP 5.0 version.
    Can you let us know whether itu2019s possible to do the change?
    If so, how and can we perform this activity in the middle of the year.
    How to take care of the open items like PO,SO,Vendor ,Customer, which we have already posted in the system with our SGD currency.
    And if not, do suggest and alternate/workaround.
    Heard about,  that this can be achieved with PARALLEL CURRENCY activation.
    Not having much idea about Parallel Currency.

    Hi,
       A change of the company code currency is possible. The change is only possible as at year end (the actual running of the programms can be done mid-year provided certain customising has been done prior to the first posting in that year).
    All items will get changed from old local currency to new local currency.
    You can read the documentation in Spro > Cross-Application Components > EMU > Local Currency Changeover.
    This is a very complex procedure so be sure to read all the documentatin first.

  • ME54 - Restrict by purchase org and release code

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement that wants to allow one user to have multiple plants and for one for each one a different release code.  Well release codes are controlled by auth M_EINK_FRG and plant is controlled by M_BANF_WRK.  Because plant and release code is not in the same auth if I give multiple plants it will allow the greatest release code for all plants using M_EINK_FRG.  Has anyone every figured out how to restrict different plants to unique release codes within one user.  Did you use some sort of custom auth or user exit?
    Our ideal situation would be able to restrict by purchase org but unfortunately it appears that the tcode ME54 does not call the auth M_BANF_EKO so we cannot restrict by purchase orgs.  Has anyone thought of a way to get around this.

    I believe what you want to achieve may be done through the PO release strategy - since PO releases are based upon the release code and the strategy. A PO for a certain purchase org could be defined for a certain set of release codes.

    I presume you are runnning iTunes on either an OS X 10.7 or OS X 10.8 system. Move the cursor to the very top of the screen so that the menu bar appears, then click the blue box with the arrows at the very right corner of the menu bar, or press Shift-Command-F. That will switch iTunes back to a normal window, which it should then remember for future launches.

       I'm very confused about having to start another Apple ID due to the new update !  I would like to change over my current iTunes purchase history and store credit to my new account and retain my original organization avoid further aggravation.  Is there a way to due this?  AND, what's going on with the lag on this website?  It's been very slow for the passed several months.

    Due to the update I had to start a mobile me account just like everybody else did unless they had one before.  But now when I open iTunes on my iPod, I can't access my original ID which has my credit!

    I have a requirement of having separate text apart from the one in Chart of accounts level in the GL account, which would vary for every company code as these companies are existing in different countries.

    As we are implementing for multiple countries each have a different nomenclature for the same account in there country, however the required language is english only.

    Hi,
    Is there a transaction code or standard report in SAP  to display exception messages by material and plant? I see the exception messages by individual material and plant in MD04 but I need to see a collective view. I tried Collective access in MD04 and MD46 but they are not giving me exception groups but I need exceptions listed out by material and plant.

    I have never seen such a report.
    MD06 does support fine tuning the output display, once the list has been generated.  If you use this feature, the resulting display is the entire list as created by selecting the initial parameters (such as exception group), but with the specific items that contain your selected message highlighted.  If you are addressing the messages interactively, you can select the review (glasses)  screens, and scroll through just the ones which contain your  selected exception message(s).
    To try this, execute MD06.  Select the groups as necessary.  Execute.  Wait for the list.  Now, immediately, select 'search' (binoculars).  Experiment with the output.
    As mentioned in the previous post, if MD06 does not meet your needs, you will need to have a custom report written.
