Conference calling question

I have a quick question. If i call my friend who is on verizon (So i am not charged) and he then starts a conference call with someone who is not on verizon...Do I get charged? or no?

Hello goatguy64.
Nationwide plans include unlimited Mobile to Mobile so if you call a person who has Verizon Wireless service it is is unlimited minutes. If you or that person makes a three-way call to a non-Verizon Wireless user it will deduct from the minutes of the person making a call. So if your friend is making the three-way call to a non-Verizon user, then it will deduct from their minutes (unless they have an unlimited minute plan) and not yours.
Thank you,

  • A few conference call questions

If I make a conference call, it will take double the minutes right? I am essentially making two calls. If I make this conference call at night (I have the lowest plan with 450any/5000n&w), it will take double the minutes from the 5000, right?
    Thanks.

I have to be absolutely sure on this
Just so you know. If you need to be absolutely sure, why ask a forum of iPhone users that are mainly here to help with issues with the iPhone. At the Apple site to boot. Your contract is with AT&T. They have all the info about billing etc. Apple just made the device, after that, it is all AT&T.
Yes others can tell you what they think, what they noticed, etc. But just call AT&T and ask if you have to be *absolutely sure*. Just my advice.

  • Conference call question

How do I set up a conference call with 6 people

The conference call on Verizon Wireless is limited to three parties. You can try a system where you all call one number and enter in a conference call with a pin.

  • Using conference call dial in numbers with iPhone

On my old Blackberry I used to be able to call a conference call dial in number and it was set up so that it would dial both the 1-800 number and then the participant code for the conference call. Anyone know if it's possible to do the same with the iPhone? Of course, with my Blackberry I was dialing in through clicking on the number in the actual meeting invite whereas with the iPhone I am dialing into a number in my contacts list since the iPhone is not yet compatible with Lotus Notes. Speaking of which, I've heard rumors before that the iPhone will one day be compatible with Lotus Notes. Anyone know when that might be? I've ditched the Blackberry but not having my email/calendar/contacts synced with my work system is a big pain.
Back to the conference call question, I tried seeing if I could add a pause after dialing the 1-800 number so that it would dial the meeting password after connecting but that didn't work, even when I added like 10 pauses.

CUCM does not have this capability, if you forcefully need users to enter a pwd you'd need to look into MP or do some UCCX/UCCE scripting for this.
You can use Unity/CUC as a middle man so you can use a supervised transfer and then Unity will let you choose if you want to let someone in or send them to VM, but it won't ask for any passcode.

  • HI I have an Iphone 3GS and the microphone jack works when I play music but not when making phone calls.   please help as I use it for conference calls

Hi   I use my phone for conference calls and use the microphone jack to connect to speakers.      It doesnt work when making phone calls but when i play music on the phone the jack works with the external speaker.

Happy to have been of help. Hope all goes smoothly.
BTW, for the sake of others who may help you here, it's usually most polite if you mark the post that answered your question as being the one that "solves" it, not your own post. That's how people get points here, if a questioner marks their post as either "helpful" or "solving". It's not an issue for me, but for those just starting out in the forums it may be important to them. See:

  • MeetingPlace conference call on CCM MoH

Has anyone seen this, or have any ideas? Have a MeetingPlace Enterprise 5.4.0 system and now and then, people on hold on Call Manager (multicast MoH) can here meetingplace conference calls when they are on hold with the CCM MoH playing. The people on the MeetingPlace Conference call do not hear the person on hold or the CCM music.
The Call Manager and Meetingplace are completely seperate servers. The Call Manager version is 4.1(3) SR4D if it helps.
The network is clean, no errors, and can't find where this problem is coming from. It does not happen all the time and doesn't happen on every meetingplace conference call.
I don't know much about Meetingplace, does it use Multicast for its audio conferences? I thought they were kept local to the audio server unit (?).

For the sake of closing out this question...  The answer was found deep in a Cisco wiki post.
    Suppressing Music-On-Hold
You can configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager to play music for the held party when users put a call on hold. However, if a user places a meeting on hold, the music plays into the meeting until the user retrieves the held call. To prevent this, you can configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager not to play music on hold for calls routed through Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway.
Specifically, make sure you do not assign to the Cisco Unified MeetingPlace H.323/SIP IP Gateway a Media Resource Group List that includes any Media Resource Group that includes Music on Hold servers, as the MeetingPlace IP Gateway can join a multicast Music-On-Hold (MoH) group. Since MeetingPlace is a transmit/receive environment, being put on hold can mean meeting participants listen to MoH, as well meetings in progress to devices configured to participate in the multicast group, resulting unexpected and undesirable privacy breaches.
As an additional workaround/resolution, if the customer is using Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) Version 6.1 and later, verify the CUCM Service Parameter "Send Multicast MOH in H.245 OLC Message" is set to False.

  • Conference call on Iphone

I don't understand how to combine 2 calls for a conference call. I tried the Merge Call button (from memory, I think that is what it is called), and all it did was put one on hold and connect me to the other person, back and forth, it would not combine the calls.
Does it matter who calls in vs me calling out?
Can u walk me through the steps and are there any surprises?
    thanks
    bob

Check the iPhone manual, page 50 http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
    From the Manual:
    Conference Calls
You can talk to more than one person at a time, and merge up to five calls, depending on your carrier.
Note: Conference calling may be an optional service in some countries. Contact your carrier for more information.
    Create a conference call:
    1 Make a call.
2 Tap Add Call and make another call. The first call is put on hold.
3 Tap Merge Calls. The calls are merged on one line and everyone can hear each other.
There is also a graph there that lets you know about adding and dropping more, but I'll let you read that yourself.
    Hope that answers your question.

  • Conference calls technical issues

Hi. I wonder if you can help me. My question and issue is perhaps better dealt with via phone, however, I can give it a shot here: I make group calls from my second account. We have a process whereby the host for the call rotates every week (on average).
Last couple of times someone else made those conference calls, we had a lot of technical difficulties, dropped calls, muted sharing, disconnections and such.
Why is this happening? How can we overcome our challenge?
Thank you in advance for your support.

If asking for help you need to provide full details and not just the problem.
    Call control agent?
    version?
    If CUCM, SW CFB/HW CFB?
By what you mention it sound like codec issues, so start looking into that in first place.

  • What are the "Conference Calls" when you reach level 4?

What are the "Conference Calls" once you reach level 4 on the Apple Support Communities? You can find the "Conference Calls" perk here:

  • Number of concurrent a/v conference calls, and its bandwidth consumed.

I have two central sites and multiple branch sites. Each central site has one Front End pool. we are planning to replace Lync 2013 servers for hosting meetings, conferences ( audio, video and web)
My manager wants to know the number of concurrent audio/Video conference calls that our Lync Front End pools can handle and the bandwidth consumed by these calls. Can anyone here help with this or point me to where to find the right tool. I have tried using
Bandwidth calculator, it was not working well for me.

For Audio, assuming G722 (without FEC) it will be about 96Kbps per stream. So in theory that would be
over 1000 calls on 100Mb, however that doesn't take into account any other traffic that would be on the link.
For H.264 Video it can be anywhere up to 4000Kbps (HD), but it's unlikely that all your end points would be running 1920x1080 resolution and they will all negotiate differently. So without knowing a lot about your environment I would say on average (which
is just that between min to max around 50 video streams) or 128-250 streams at lower resolutions - so traffic through phones and slow connections (320x180-16:9/ 212x160-4:3 to 640x360-16:9/640x480-4:3) and
25-50 streams at the higher resolutions. So HD cameras and rooms systems, etc. Once again not taking into account other things on the network.
With regards to the pool themselves,  follow the hardware specifications required which you can check using the capacity planning tool http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36828 the
supported maximum however for a large conference on a single pool is 250 participants.
As I mentioned it's almost impossible to give definitive numbers because there are so many variables, but hopefully this helps a little.

  • What would happen if site to site conference call using G.729

conference bridge I am currently using is software conference , I am aware that Cisco software conference bridge only support G.711. and my project is a multisite project and site to site calls are via wan not PSTN. so my question is what would happen if a site to site add hoc or meet me conference call is made based on G.729. it doesnt work at all or there are some alternatives. I appreciate any input, thank you in advance

The main problem is that you will need some xcodes or MTPs in order to use the Software conf bridge, but be aware that using G.711 conf through a WAN link will decrease the available bandwidth and it might fail, for instance, G.711 uses 80 kbps, rather than G.729 that uses 24 (3 G7.29 calls per 1 G.711).
Here is the codecs' bandwidth utilization:
    - G.711 call uses 80 kbps
    - G.723 call uses 24 kbps
    - G.729 call uses 24 kbps
    - GSM call uses 29 kbps
    - Wideband call uses 272 kbps
At this point the only option that you have is to get an HDV module and some DSPs and configure a HW xcode and conf bridge.

  • IPhone 6 and 6 plus conference calling

Hello everyone, I'm waiting on my iPhone 6 plus from verizon to come in and I searched a bit for this answer but no one has clearly answered this. Now I know that the iPhone 6 and 6 plus has the advance 1.0 calling feature on it which we can now do HD calling and as well as 6 way calling but I just have a couple of questions.
    1. Is it truly 6 way calling just like AT&T where I can do this with landlines and other networks or is it only with other phones on verizon with voLTE?
    2. If I'm already on a call and a second incoming call comes in, am I able to merge that call to the existing line or I have to tell the caller to hang up and then I proceed to call everyone at once like all CDMA iPhones had done in the past for multiple calls?
Sorry if this has already been answered as I tried searching but haven't had much luck. Thanks guys!

Hey there, lilfool4lif3! Thanks for bringing your questions about conference calling to the Forum. I'm sorry that you've had any difficulty getting this straightened out. Although the iPhone 6 using iOS 8 can support conferencing with up to five other callers, this activity is not yet supported while using Advanced Calling. That said, the process if adding a caller while engaged in a call can be done by tapping the HOLD CALL   Answer, and then tapping MERGE CALLS. Thanks!

  • Playing Annoucement to called party before conference call starts

    Hi,
I have an interesting requirement here.
My customer wants to play annoucement to the participants of adhoc and meet me conference before bridging them in call. The announcement would be something like this "This call will be recorded, press 1 if you want to join the conference press 0 to hang up". If caller presses '1' then the he should be bridged.
Is it possible to use IVR server for this??
For the adhoc conference this is what I thought:
The conference initiator calls an a number to initiate IVR Script, the script asks him to enter the number to be called(conference participant's number), then the IVR script places call on this number(use "place call function"), once the recipient answers the call, IVR will announce the prompt to him "This call will be recorded, press 1 if you want to join the conference press 0 to hang up".
    Questions:
1.Now how to merge this call with the conference initiator call(as conference call) if recipient presses 1??
2.What treatment can be given to the conference call initiator, for the suration when IVR is placing call out? Can we give him some hold music??
2.Is there any better way? Can I use "Call Consult Transfer" function instead of place "call function"??
3.Will it be easier/possible to use Unity instead of IVR server for this?
4.How can the same be done for meetme conference??
    Thanks

yes that works to use the new contact which set by 'set contact info' step.
So now I am able to play prompt to called number after the call been connected.
But I found I couldn't collect entered digit by Called person if I use Menu step.
For instance, if I use 'Menu' to collect the digit from Called person, then when enter '1', redirect the original (or this new) call flow to reception.
My sub steps within Menu step (using new contact session) seems no working.
    Any thoughts?
General idea is: I can use IVR to place outbound calls, play prompts, then collect digits from called party and make sub call flows decision.
    Thanks

  • Using Hookflash to set up conference calls in CUCM 7 with a Sip Phone

    Hi all,
Not sure if I'm going the right way about this or if this is even possible, let me start by setting the scenario:
We have Cisco Unified Call Manager 7 and have recently installed an non Cisco IP based telephone in a boardroom which we have successfully registered to the Call Manager using SIP.
We would like to be able to setup audio conference calls from this SIP phone. It has a flash (hookflash) button which I believe can be used for this very purpose (it signals and offhook/onhook/offhook condition) which can be used to instruct a voice switch that it is requesting services (like conferencing).
However I'm strugging to see how to set this up.
Can anybody offer any advice on this subject?
    Regards,
    Martin

Just an update to the question that I presented when I started this thread.
You really never did say what type of a User Account you are using in your Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7? But based on the information provided by several users, User Account with Administrative Rights seems to be the way to go since all of them were using it and had systems that were running well. I would have expected that based on the Premiere Elements Windows XP requirements. I have yet to have someone come forward to say that they are using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 on Windows 7 with a User Account with Standard Rights and the program is running well. Will you be that one?
Besides me switching from Windows XP to Windows 7 in the near future, what motivated this line of questioning was the report that I had seen of a user with Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1on Windows 7 who was reporting "permission" error messages when trying to archive a project with the Project Archiver (Archiver "Trimmed" and Copy options). Further questioning brought out that the problem extended to the AutoSave feature as well. The user claimed to be saving to an external hard drive (formatted NTFS) with about 800 MB free space. And still further questioning brought out that the error message included a free space and/or permissions error. Yes, there were extremely large file sizes involved here (way over 4 GB)
The story had a happy ending where the remedies were:
    1. User Account with Administrative Rights
    and the major
    2. Formatting the thought to be NTFS external hard drive from FAT32 to NTFS.
