I'm in south east london (se11) not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, I have to use my phone as a modem just to post this message. heres what the hub's log says:

  • Constant Red Broadband Light

I have a problem with my broadband.
On the 15th October I rang BT and requested my connection to be
transferred to my new property on the 28th October. I then received an
email stating that connection would be made on the 5th November.
I then rang BT again stating that this date was incorrect and the
changeover date should be the 28th October and immediately received an
    email confirming this new date.
On the 28th I moved into the new property and the broadband was
working fine. The 5th of November arrived and the broadband stopped
working (going from a blue power light, a blue broadband light and a
blue wireless light to blue power, red broadband & blue wireless).
Since the 5th I have had 3 engineers come to my property, all of
which have found no faults at the property (including the router) and
almost daily calls from India but I still have no connection.
I would appreciate your help immensely! Any thoughts?

    Hi TerryTeo,
Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum.
A red broadband light usually indicates a problem with authentication.  Can I get you to check what details you are using within the hub manager?
Open a web-browser and type http://api.home or http://192.168.1.254 in the address bar and then click Go, or press Enter.
    Click Settings
Enter Hub password and click OK
    Click Advanced Settings
    Click Broadband
    Click Internet
Under the 'broadband username' section make sure that the username you are using is [email protected]
Please check this and then get back to us to let us know where we stand with this.
    Cheers

  • BT Broadband - Red Flashing Light on Home Hub and ...

(Posting on behalf of a friend).
    Good morning,
Having recently got a the latest home hub (recieved as part of upgrade to broadband package) I currently do not have a working broadband connection. Have been unable to get BT on the phone so posting here (hopefully for a resolution).
The Homehub 5 goes through its start up procedure then goe straight to a flashing red light. It has been installed just over a month and was working at the start of this time.
We have tried leaving it to cool down, removing the phones so only the broadband is plugged in and even resetiing it through the procedure identified in the help documentation. Each time, the same result.... flashing red light!
According to the BT website, the flashing red broadband light means probelm with the broadband line. Is there anything we can do on our end or should we try BT again?
    Thanks in advance,
    K.

  • Broadband light blue, can get connection between d...

ADDED ADSL SETTINGS TO END OF THIS EMAIL
Please Help - getting desperate !!!
I have a BT Home Hub 3 and use wireless connectivity to communicate to the following devices -
    MacBook Pro
    Windows Laptop (used rarely)
    iPad
    Wireless printer
I intermittently experience a problem where, although my broadband light on the Home Hub was blue and I could get connection from my laptop/ipad to the Home Hub (i.e. on the MAC I can see the BT Home Hub on my Airport indicator and its a bona-fidae connection), there was no internet connectivity.  This was an intermittent problem - some days I could surf fine, other days I couldn't get any internet connectivity.  Also it is device agnostic - i.e. when the problem occurs it effects all my devices, when it is not evident all my devices work.
I went through the customer support helpline in september and the intermittent problem could not be solved.  An engineer came out and replaced my Home Hub in September and things seemed to improve until December  when the problem re-occurred and  I was sent another new home Hub 3.  This didn't solve the issue and at present I would say that 2 to 3 days a week I (randomly) get no internet connectivity.
Throughout the course of investigations several things have been tried with the customer support folks  - these include -
Line checks - these confirmed broadband connectivity to the house was mostly fine
frequent resetting of the Home Hub
re-configuration of the Home Hub <-> device channel number. This was done several times and with different 'departments' in BT Support - e.g. once I got connected through to the 'MAC OS' folks who recommended use of channels 5,7 for Macs.
repositioning my devices to make them closer to the Home Hub (no difference as the home hub is very close to where I work in the house anyway)
switching on/off my Plasma TV!! (no difference)
on occasion these things have brought internet connectivity back on-line, but the intermittent problem invariably comes back.
This has become a real pain and its becoming impossible to do any planned work from my home office - any assistance greatly appreciated

There is nothing wrong with your ADSL connection statistics.
Try connecting to the home hub using an Ethernet cable to your computer.

  • Broadband light flashing red

On my Gateway all lights are green except for Broadband 2 which is flashing red.  We have restarted the gateway multiple times and checked the wires.  Please let me know what else I can do.  Thanks!

Call 1-800-288-2020 to schedule a service call for your flashing red broadband2 light. This is a (4) hour appointment window available 7 days a week with morning 8:30-12:30, afternoons 1-4, and evenings 4-8 depending on opening slots.  Someone 18 or older needs to be at residence during this time frame, once tech arrives unknown how much time will be needed to resolve.

  • Self install Uverse Internet red blinking broadband light

I've been trying to setup my new Uverse internet service since my activation date (7/21 after 2pm) and the broadband light will not go solid green. I've tried all of the troubleshooting steps I could find and still nothing.

    Hi ,
I am sorry about the issues you are having installing your service, but I will be glad to help. Try testing on the other phone jacks in your house. It can take a few minutes for it to sync up, but it should take less than 1 minute for it to start blinking green. I will also send you a private message to look into this issue further.

  • Total Broadband connectivity issues

My mum has been having a problem with her broadband for ages her telephone is really really crackly and her home hub 3 has a constant flashing purple broadband light it might go blue and work onece in a while we had an engineer came out and he said he tested the line and everything was fine, He said my mum needed to get cordless phones rather than have a plug in extension into the living room, I explained that we had disconected everything and then connected the hub at the main socket in the hall but the problem was still there he said it was because of the extension and made his goodbye's and was gone so she is paying for broadband but cannot use it, so today I disconnected all extensions and phones and connected the home hub to the master socket and waited for most of the day and it made no difference she still cannot get a steady blue broadband light, I then removed the hub and reconnected the extensions and phones and sure enough even without the hub the line sounds like frying chips my personal oppinion is it may be the cable from the house to the pole as mum hasnt been on BT for years and her line still comes into a green GPO box in the hall and the cable on the outside wall is really old grey 2 core cable which looks like bell wire from a doorbell, she only joined bt earlyer this year.
Please can someone offer some help as we are getting to the point of telling BT to shove it because we do not want mum to go out and spend a fortune on cordless phones because that will not fix the problem

even if you use the master socket with nothing conencted to the extension sockets the extension wiring is connected and may well be the cause of your problem.  the only way to eliminate your extension wiring is to conenct to the test socket

  • Mobile broadband connection issue

I just bought MBP (first ever and was so excited ) and connected my mobile broadband dongle to it.  It told me to install software and then go to Network Settings and "enable" the device.  The device does not appear in the list, only wifi/ethernet/firewall, not my USB Broadband.  Does anyone know why?  Have installed it twice and restarted and everything, but I plug in the USB dongle and it gets recognised but I cant connect, it works on my old computer tho...

USB is not inherently a Mac Networking protocol. To make it recognizable as one, there needs to be some software that is run to configure the USB device and make it appear as a Network device.
Check in the downloaded software for a setup or configuration program, and run it.

  • Unable to connect to Total Broadband suddenly - re...

I should start off by saying the only reason I am not using a Home Hub with my Total Broadband is because about a year ago I had to get it replaced and BT in their incompetance managed to send me a business hub instead.
I was going to send it back but then I read on the forums (see posts like http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/BT-Broadband-with-non-BT-Home-Hub/m-p/350297/h... that any username/pass would work so I just kept it as I needed the connection to work without waiting another week for a new replacement.
So for a year or more I've been running fine with a business hub using some [email protected] username and junk password.
Last night, in the middle of watching something on iPlayer my internet suddenly cut out and when I look at the hub, the Internet light is now Red (even though the 'Broadband light is green). The hub status page tells me DSL is connected fine but no internet connection.
And for a while at least (can't reproduce now for some reason) When I tried to visit a web page, I got redirected to the hub gateway page saying 'unable to connect your broadband with that username/password please set up your connection details correctly' or something to that effect.
Needless to say, I've tried rebooting and reseting the hub many times and tried every possible suggested username/password pair I can find online for people running non-homehub hardware, despite the fact that apparently it shouldn't matter on a Total Broadband line which authenticate by phone number anyway.
There are no reported outages in my area and I have a perfectly fine DSL connection according to the hub, just no Internet/PPP connection.
I'm really hoping someone here has some good advice about this situation because I am absolutely sure if I have to phone BT customer support it will take me an hour just to convince them I don't have a home hub but no it's not my fault for using third party hardware because they supplied the **bleep** thing.
Has anyone else had the same? Can a fault on the line cause this or has BT suddenly changed their authentication scheme overnight? Given a lack of others complaining about this I guess not.
Any help gladly accepted although I feel I may have to grit my teeth and pick up the phone soon...

In case it helps anyone else:
BT live chat were helpfull and suggested using [email protected] and a host of other settings.
That didn't change anything so I'm getting a replacement (hopefully a homehub this time).
I'm still none the wiser about why this suddenly happened - it's plausibly a fault in the hub but given the fine DSL connection it seems likely that is not the issue.
But never mind. If the new hub works I'm happy enough.
And after my comments about BT phone support, I feel I should say that the live chat experience was significnatly better although I guess for most people it is not an option (as they don't have an alternate internet connection!).
    Thanks imjolly for the reponse.

  • BT Infinity Connection Issue (On Going)

    ================
    ===Long Story===
    ================
On the 25th of January i had BT Infinity installed and was amazed when my download speed shot up to 38MB (from 5), and my upload was a staggering 9 MB (from 0.7). As a gamer, this was at the time fantastic.
However, on Wensday the 7th of March, i came home from Uni to find that my friend's voices on Skype sound all distorted. I decide to do a speed test, which reveals that the speed had dropped down to 3MB download, but the upload was still 8MB. I thought that this was a glitch, so i ran the BT Speedtester and restarted the router and modem etc. No change. Over the next few days, the speed fluxuated between 0-7MB down and 5-8MB up.
Naturally, i contacted BT, who after some convincing, booked an appointment for an Openreach engineer to come over on Tuesday the 13th. The engineer who turned up tested the line and after finding nothing wrong, changed both the router and the modem twice. As baffeled as me, the engineer told me to contact BT again as he was convinced it was something on their end. After 2 hours on the phone (an hour and a half of that on hold), i was told the problem was resolved and all i had to do was restart my router and modem.
I did so gladly, only to find no change in the speed, and another complication. After the problem was "fixed" my HH3 would lose connection every 2 hours, but now, it loses conneciton every 3-5 minutes, 24/7.
However, the Modem doesn't. It's only the broadband light on the HH3 that changes, the green DSL light on the modem stays on. After another lenghty conversation (thank god i dont have to play for these calls) the guy in India was certian it was a line issue, and dispatched another engineer on Thursday the 15th.
The second engineer, who i knew as he was a frind of my father, told me that he had been sent out on a "boost job", whatever that means. Basically, he told me that if he isnt supposed to leave until the problem is resolved. So, after 3 hours of changing routers and banging our heads against the wall with BT, he got them to do a lift and shift.
    No change.
Completely stumped and at 6 pm (2 hours after the engineer was supposed to finish work) i let him go home, since there was clearly nothing he could do.
After another 2 hours on the phone with BT, i now have my own number that i can call BT on that connects me to a manager who has "taken over" the problem. He has dispatched another engineer for Tuesday to 20th to do "triage testing". Mean while, i can't do any work for Uni at home, play any games or even browse the internet.

Sorry, that was hilarious. I pressed the reply button and the page came up saying that my router had lost connection.
    Anyway,
The speed tests i did with the BT Speedtester told me about the rediculas low speeds, but it didn't ask me do do anything further. However, the Speedtester hasn't worked for me since Friday e.g.
    "Test Error
The Performance Tester is currently unable to run a speed test for your broadband connection. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider."
What is a tap3 test? This is the first time i've heard of this.
I have not tried bypassing the Home Hub either. I've been a good boy and only done what BT has told me to.
Do you think that it could help?

    Hi,
Broadband has stopped working with a flashing orange & purple broadband light (7 days and counting)
Have phoned bt but they failed to resolve the issue over phone - resetting, power off/on etc. Tried 4 different branded adsl filters, alternative router but still no connection. • HELP Needed ASAP! Curve Not Turning On, Red Flashing Lights!

    Hi,
I have a Blackberry curve 8310. I plugged my curve into my mac to do a software update. Midway through, my phone shut off and hasn't worked since. The battery is fully charged. The phone is off and won't turn on. Additionally, there is a red LED light blinking twice every few seconds. I think I found an article on blackberry.com's knowledge database that diagnosed my issue, but my problem now is that because the curve isn't turning on/off, it's not connecting to my mac's desktop manager. So I can't do anything the article tells me to do. What should I do now? I need help ASAP!
Here's the link to the article: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB19915
    Thanks in advanced!

Hello Asmro and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
It can take up to 30 minutes for the Mac to connect to the BlackBerry.
I would remove your battery and connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Once it comes up there is no software installed, re-insert the battery and follow the article KB19915.
Let me know how you make out.

  • My bb curve 9380 shutdown and a red led lighting

my bb curve 9380 shutdown and a red led lighting i don't now what hapned but i just modify some apps bay bb desktop softwere please help me and thx verry much

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
If the problem is revealed via the above tests to be your BB, then I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.

  • Intermittent connection issue

I am having connection issues again as I did 2 years ago. The connection gets dropped intermittently. Sometimes the modem has a red light on the internet indicator and other times the DSL blinks and won't sync. The tech gave me a new modem, but I still have the same problem. 2 years ago the problem got resolved when they switched me to another line. I keep a spreadsheet on the tranceiver stats. The margin dB varies 20.2/21 (down/up) to 8.8/21 to 18.1/29 for instance. Line attenuation stays pretty much the same between 51.4/29 (down/up) to 49.4/29. Tranmit power varies 9.3/11.9 to 15.7/11.9 to 16.2/11.9 (down/up). I cannot seem to get someone to fix the line issues coming to my home. How can I get this fixed?

No, it is still ongoing. I have a field tech working on it. I was away for some days so couldn't respond. As you know about the intermittant connect problem because of an unconditioned line. Also, I was unable to obtain 1.5Mb/sec connect speed and Verizon only gave me 1.1Mb/sec. This week I am unable to connect at that speed and is now only 0.928Mb. I don't know why this happened, but I can tell you I am unsatified with this connection. I am really unhappy with not being able to get a measly 1.5Mb/sec connection speed when the rest of the world is getting 50Mb/sec or greater speeds.
As a stock holder of Verizon I am even more disappointed in their neglect with the DSL service. I am working on a letter to investor relations on this matter.

  • Screen Display off with red Notification light

Dear Team I've BB Curve 9320 and am facing display off issue in my phone and regularly red notification light is blinking and keypad light is also lighting. I've visited East Delh(India) and Noida Sec 2 Service center but found there was no service center which address was mentioned there.I tried to update my software but failed into my attempt it's asking password everytime whenever I do a same.   Kindly resolve my issue and share valide contact no. to share my griviance with you people.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall chargerLeave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesRemove the batteryWait 15 minutesInsert the batteryWait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesThis has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happensObtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happensThe results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.  If possible, you could also attempt to boot into Safe Mode:KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe ModeIt may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When/if successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
