Consume a WebService that exists in SAP ECC 6.0
Hello evrybody,
I have a requirement that I've never done before, I have a webservice in transaction WSADMIN in a SAP ECC 6.0, and I need to consume it from PI but I don't know how, I've worked before with BAPI's and ABAP Proxies but never with WebServcies like this, do you know any documentation or maybe a blog on how to do this?, thanks in advance.
Regards,
Karla
Thanks for your answers, I've used ABAP Proxies before, but in the way of generating an ABAP Proxy of a Inbound or Outbound interface from the IR, now I need to consume a WebService already created in SAP ECC 6.0, and I've never donde this before, I'm trying to understand that using SOAP Adapter I should get the WSDL File of the webservice and upload as an External Definition in the IR, but where could I get the URL to consume the webservice that exists in SAP ECC 6.0, thanks.

Webservice:get data from SAP ECC
hi,
i want webservice.that webservice will fetch the data from sap ecc system.
i need steps for creating webservice.i have some functionality .what can i expose as webservice.
thanks
rajHi Raj,
If we trying to fetch data from SAP ECC system then expsoing as a web service from NWDS (Netweaver Developer studio ) would the best option.First we need to create a Portal Service that invokes the functionalities of the SAP application component( Business solution which uses ECC) using the SAP Java Connector. Then you can create a Web Service from the Portal Service.
If your SAP application component runs on SAP Web Application Server (WebAS) 6.20 or later, then you can directly enable Web Services on the application component by using the application server's native Web Service capabilities.
1. To turn on the WebAS 6.20 SOAP Processor, you need to:
Configure the Internet Communication Framework (ICF) of the WebAS to start the Internet Communication Manager (ICM) and activate the HTTP protocol support
Use transaction SICF to activate the SOAP Runtime Handler: default_host -> sap -> bc -> soap -> rfc.
Once the SOAP Processor is turned on, the RFM-implemented Web Services can be invoked at http://<host_name>:<port_number>/sap/bc/soap/rfc
6.20 also provides a Web Service Browser, which is a BSP web application that can be used to browse all RFM-implemented Web Services in the system, and generate WSDLs for these Web Services.
2. In a WebAS 6.40-based SAP application component, such as SAP Enterprise Core Component (ECC) 5.0, or a WebAS 7.0-based application component, such as ECC 6.0, by default, few Web Services are pre-delivered by SAP. But it is pretty easy to create Web Services in a WebAS 6.40-based system.
Inside-Out Approach: if within the SAP application component there already exist one or several RFMs or BAPIs that suit your needs, you can create Web Services based on them without any additional programming. The basic steps include:
Using the Service Definition Wizard, which can be started from transaction SE80, SE37, or BAPI, to create a (Web) service definition from an RFM, a function group, or a BAPI.
When creating the service, you have the option to rename or hide operations (methods) and parameters, define default values for parameters, and changing parameter types.
After the service definition is created, you need to use transaction WSCONFIG to release the service definition for the SOAP runtime.
Afterwards, by using transaction WSADMIN, you can for any released Web Service, call the Web service homepage which provides utilities for using and testing the Web Service, generate WDSL, configure the logging and tracing settings, and publish the Web Service as a Business Service in an UDDI registry.
Hope these steps are helful to you.

Client consuming multiple webservices that have shared classes
My Java client application is accessing two webservices (ServiceA and ServiceB). Both of these webservices us a shared class (CoolRect). I use wscompile to generate stub files for these webservices. When I try to use CoolRect, it gives an "ambiguous" error. Basically I must declare my CoolRect like:
ServiceA.CoolRect rectA;
ServiceB.CoolRect rectB;
The problem is that I cannot assign one to the other:
rectA = serviceA.getCoolRect();
rectB = rectA;
This generates an "incompatible types" error. These are identical classes from common source base used by the webservices. Is there some way to get wscompile to generate stubs so this isn't a problem? All solutions appreciated. ThanksHi Javier...

Consuming external webservice in SAP

Using the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM
Hello ASUG Community.
I'm working on an SAP-MDM project where we will configure the OCI interface between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM. The business requirement will be to punch out to SAP-MDM's catalog from SAP-ECC for expensed items (e.g., no material master record exists in SAP-ECC).
The data that will be returned to SAP-ECC will be purchase price info, material group, short text, & our global SAP-MDM item number.
The question I've been trying to design around is "where to store the SAP-MDM item number"?
I've looked into creating a custom filed on EKPO but now feel that a configured text field will be the best solution from an SAP-ECC point of view (less effort on the SAP-ECC side from a development perspective, no need to regenerate the EKPO table, etc.).
The question I'd like to pose to ASUG is.... Does anyone have experience or an opinion to offer using this functionality? It seems that I will have to code in a user exit or BAdi to insure that the SAP-MDM item numbers are returned to the appropriate text field on my POu2019s. Or can this be done using the standard OCI functionality?
I found OSS note 1347656 which references BADI "ME_CATALOG_INTERFACE" but I'm not sure if this right path to go down or if this would be the correct place to code non-conforming OCI mapping requiremetns.
Any insight would be most appreciated.
Thanks. Sincerely,
Rich WortmannI would suggest you create a new field for this as you may require thois going forward for reporting as well. Text fields are difficult to report.
Sorry not sure about the BADI to use. -
Possible to consume a webservice with no usable operations defined?
Hi all,
I'm .NET programmer, I wanted to consume an AXIS web service on .NET.
My problem is this:
The webservice I'm consuming appears to have no usable operations defined. (I checked this out using Visual Studio). To be certain that the webservice indeed has no usable operations exposed, i downloaded J2EE and Netbeans and tested the webservice. Again, Netbeans (like .NET) reported that there are no usable operations defined in the webservice.
Once more, I wrote sample web services with .net and java and both work perfectly on Visual Studio and Netbeans and there are completely interoparable.
My question is:
Is it possible to consume a webservice that has no usable operations defined? The webservice company is telling me that it is possible, but I can't figure it out how.
Its very urgent, so please help
Tnx in advanceI have never been able to get CFINVOKE to work without a
WSDL. It looks like CFINVOKE uses the WSDL to create the request:
without a WSDL it does not know to to communicate with it.
Alternatively you could just using CFHTTP to communicate manually,
or make a Java app to talk to it. -
SAP to consume third party webservice that requires saml authentication
Hi All,
I am able to invoke our thirdparty webservice from soapUI, but it is a two step procedure, This is how it works in SoapUI:
step 1) first send below predefined message, embeded with username and pwd in the header:
<SOAP:Envelope xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SOAP:Header>
<wsse:Security xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd">

<product:ProductYEAR>2010</product:ProductYEAR>
</product:isProductAvailable>
</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
after sending this above request, we are getting the desired response:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:product="http://mytp/myfunctionality">
<soapenv:Header>
</soapenv:Header>
<soapenv:Body>
<isProductAvailableResponse xmlns="http://mytp/myfunctionality">

</soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
If we want to implement the same functionality using abap consumer proxy, do we need to invoke with two different requests,
is there any efficient way, where we can specify the values of <wsse:Username> and <wsse:Password>, and invoke with original payload.
is there any config in SOAMANAGER, to specify the saml releated settings, for the consumer proxy.
what could be the simplest way to consume this webservice in sap.
thanks in advance, BJagdishwar.Hi,
Please create logical port using wsdl directly it will apply required settings in LP. You can also ask for client certificate which you can apply while calling 3rd party services. To me this seems X509 client certificate authentication.
You can also create LP manually by giving SAP SAML authentication and save. Next time when you edit LP you will be able to see plenty of option to configure required settings.
Please note that not all security methods are supported by SAP.

To implement SAP HCM module in existing SAP ECC 6.0
Hi,
I have SAP ECC 6.0 system already implemented 2 years back.
I am planning to implement SAP HCM with OM, PA, SAP Time management, SAP PAYROLL in existing SAP ECC 6.0 system.
I have currently 3 system landscape for SAP ECC.
I would like to know what change/addition is required in above landscape to implement SAP HCM module in existing SAP ECC 6.0
Do share your view.
Regards.Hi.
As per you, Already designed Landscape. Why dont you follow you existing Landscape which is alredy proved for other modules.
Normally Dev/Quality/Production clients will there..
If more that depends upon flexibility in Each client and defining different business for testing and production interfaces purpose.
Better use Existing only remaining modules already sucessfully running in Production Right???? -
Consuming a webservice in ABAP ECC 6.0 without using XI/ PI
Hi Experts,
I wanted to consume an external webservice without using XI / PI.After doing my homework and search on sdn I came to know that we can consume webservices in ABAP using proxies using SE80(Enterprise Services).
I am trying to create a client proxy with the URL of webservice.It asks me the option to choose between URL or HTTP.
I am selecting URL and in the second screen it asks about the package details and after that it finishes.Later I get an error message stating "NO VENDOR SPECIFIED".Its not allowing me to create a proxy.
So, here are my questions.
Does anyone faced the same kind of problem?
Can we really consume a webservice without using XI / PI or any other middleware?
Is it possible to consume the webservice only with URL or WSDL file ?
Please let me know the exact process.
Thanks in Advance.

How to handle data that got from SAP by Webservice?
Hi, Gurus.
I am working on IFbA with ABAP and Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
I've developed a function module in R/3 system and created webservice, connected the WSDL address to the form. The problem is how can i handle data that got from SAP by Webservice?
It's Ok if i bind the dataconnection node to the form element, but how can i handle data without binding to the form element? I mean that how can i use the data retrieved from Webserivce in the Javascript, please give me some sample code or script method.
Thanks.Hi Yang,
If you are using Web Service, then the binding will be done automatically.
It can't grow automatically, what else should i do to achieve this?
1.Select the table(make sure you are not selecting subform) in Hierarchy view
2. Under table select the Row which is having the required fileds for data
3. In the Binding of that row, check the checkbox "Repeat Row for each item data" and under that check the Min Count which will set the default row **** to 1

SAP ECC 6.0 webservice exposure
Hi,
Do we need to buy netweaver stack separately to publish webservices from SAP ECC 6.0 or is it already supported.
I plan to integrate IBM Datapower with SAP ECC 6.0. Since Datapower does not support SAP adapters, if webservice support is not there we need to see if we need to also use IBM Websphere Transformation Extender or if customer is willing to buy netweaver stack?
Kindly reply.Hi,
You can call web services in an ECC6 system without a J2EE stack.
By the way, Netweaver can be abap or java or both. It is wrong to speak about Netweaver stack when you want to speak about the J2EE stack. ECC6 is based on Netweaver 7.0 abap stack...
All of this is explained in http://help.sap.com
