Consumption indicator and allocation indicator

Hi,
I have a basic question,
In planning strategy we have two parts:
a. Requirements type for independent requirements
b. Requirement type of customer requirements
In the first part (reqmts type for indep. reqmts) we have consumption indicator which controls the consumption of planned independent requirements with customer requirements.
Similarly in the second part (reqmts type of cust. reqmts) we have an allocation indicator. I understand this controls the consumption of customer requirements. Can anybody explain me how this is different from the consumption indicator in the first part and how the consumption of the customer requirements takes place?
Thanks in advance!!
Snigdho

Hi,
1. First Planning indicator :
Controls the consumption of planned independent requirements with customer requirements
2. Allocation indicator:
Controls the consumption of customer requirements with planned independent requirements
3. Both of the values flow from the respective Rrequirement Clas, which is attached to a requirement type.
4. Your question.
Can anybody explain me how this is different from the consumption indicator in the first part and how the consumption of the customer requirements takes place?
The first part deals with how to reduce the PIR only where are the secnod part deals with how the Customer requirement/
Ex: Strategy 40.
Allocation ind and Planning ind will have 1-Consume planning with assembly
if you have a PIR on Oct 30  100 qty, when you create a sales order for 50 qty
after the mpr run you can see the PIR qty reduced to 50 in the md04 screen.
Kindly let me know for any clarifcations..

  • Consumption indicator PIR Requirement class

In OMP6 and in md61 user parameters settings, i see these following options for consumption indicator for requirement class
    Consume only with customer requirements
    Only consume reservations, dependent requirements
Consume customer reqmts, reserv., dependent reqmts
Flexible Consumption for Different MRP Elements (BAdI)
    No Allocation
but in "define strategy" configuration node, I see different options for consumption indicator for the same requirement class
    No consumption with customer requirements
    Consume planning with assembly
    Consume planning w/o assembly
    Consume planning material (w/o assembly)
    what is the difference?

    Hi Swathi,
I hope my explanation can help you.
consumption which you set in planning strategy and per requirement class has different function.
as we know, consumption in planning strategy has option:
    No consumption with customer requirements
    Consume planning with assembly
    Consume planning w/o assembly
    Consume planning material (w/o assembly)
This option has function if your planning will be consumed by sales order or not.
No consumption with customer requirements -> this consumption make your planning will not cosume by customer requirement, such as using strategy planning make to stock (strategy 10)
Consume planning with assembly                  -> This consumption make your planning will be consumed by customer requirement
Consume planning w/o assembly                   -> This consumption make your planning will be consumed by customer requirement, but only use for planning without assembly (strategy planning 50)
Consume planning material (w/o assembly)   -> This consumption use for planning with planning material (Strategy 60)
Consumption in requirement class, is to define what kind of requirement will be consume PIR. (This indicator will be usefull if you set consumption in planning strategy) :
    1. Consume planning with assembly
    2. Consume planning w/o assembly
Actually, for planning strategy planning with final assembly (strategy 40) and planning t/o final assembly (strategy 50) consumption indicator will be set to 1 (consume only with customer requirement).
for strategy planning, planning at assembly level with final final assembly (strategy 70) and planning at assembly level w/0 final final assembly (strategy 74) consumption indicator will be set to 2 or 3 . why strategy 70 and 74 is set to 2 or 3, where will be consume by dependent requirement and reservation?
because with strategy 70 and 74, we plan not the finish good, but in semi finish good level.
so if we already plan in semi finish good, and there is requirement for semi finish to produce finish good, PIR that already create before (in semi finish level) must be consume with dependent req/reservation of finish good (to prevent duplicate production order in semifinish good).

  • Determination of Consumption indicator in Material document (MSEG)

My question is about how the Consumption indicator gets set in a material document.  Everything comes from somewhere in SAP...
I have two movement types, 901 and 900.  900 is configured to be the reversal movement for 901.  Both these movement types have Consumption posting indicator "G - Planned withdrawal (total consumption)" in OMJJ movement type configuration (field T156X-KZVBR).
When the 901 movement is done, the consumption indicator in MSEG is [[blank]] (field MSEG-KZVBR).  When the 900 movement is done, the consumption indicator in MSEG is V = Consumption.  Why are they not the same?  How does the entry in MSEG-KZVBR get determined, if not from T156X-KZVBR?
Other information:  both movements are delivery movements.  901 is typically done from transaction VL02N Delivery change or VL06G Goods issue due list, while 900 is done using transaction VL09 Reverse delivery goods issue.
Thank you in advance if you are able to help.

    @Esther,
For the delivery in question, LIPS-KZVBR is blank.  This corresponds fine to the related field in MSEG being blank on the goods issue.  But where could the the "V" indicator on the GI reversal come from?  Both movements are for the same delivery item.
I have tried clearing out the "G" indicator in the movement type config (T156X-KZVBR) for first the 900 reversal movement, and then the 901 GI movement too, and still they post the same way, with the 901 GI having a blank and the 900 reverse GI having a V.  Based on this I'm ready to conclude that the movement type config Consumption indicator does nothing, which shouldn't be the case?
    @Indraneel,
I'm aware of the configuration of account assignment categories in Purchasing (in table T163K) and the Consumption indicator there, but how could that be playing a role in these Delivery-related movements?  If there's a connection, maybe that's the missing link I'm seeking?
Thank you both for your replies!

  • Consumption indicator in transaction MD61

    Hi,
I would like to know where I can control the setting of the consumption indicator (PBPT-VERKZ) in transaction MD61, Creation of planned independent requirements (the consumption indicator is found in the header of the transaction).
I want it to be set to 3 (Consume customer reqmts, reserv., dependent reqmts) and I am using planning strategy 40 for my material.
    Anyone knows?
    Regards,
    Ola tornblom

    Krishna,
I have tried to change the consumption indicator to 2 and 3 for requirements class 101, which is the requirements class used by requirements type VSF (for planning strategy 40).
It does not affect the default value of the consumption indicator in transaction MD61, for some reason. I think these are two separate settings, and the consumption indicator settings in the requirements class is not the same as in transaction MD61.
Try for yourself and you will be surprised!
    Regards,
    Ola

  • Consumption indicator

    Dear all
ours is planning with final assy(stratagy is 40)
while creating PIR through md61, what is the consumption indicator to be used 1 or 2 or 3
    what is the difference
in our case it is taking bydafault it is taking 1 (consume only with customer requirements)
when can we use forecasting in MD61
In addl data what is the use of acct assignment category

    q1.Consumption indicator :
*The consumption indicator controls which requirements (customer requirements, for example) are used to consume planned independent requirements
*.This consumption indicator is only dispalyed int he md63 screen - this is displayed as per the configuration set up for the strategy.
    q2:account assignment category
*The account assignment category determines which account assignment data (such as cost center, account number and so on) is necessary for the item.
*Let us say if we are working with a MTO configurable material then we will have a sales order as the account assighnment category.
    revert back for clarification.

  • Consumption Modes and Planning Materials

    Hello Gurus,
will you please explain Consumption Modes and Planning Materials with plain words.
    thanks very much

    Hi Zhang,
    Consumption mode
An indicator in demand management that controls the direction on the time axis in which sales orders or dependent requirements are allocated and consume planned independent requirements.
Consumption can take place with planned independent requirements that are before or after the sales order.
    Planning material
A planning material is required in the planning strategy "planning with planning material."
Non-variable parts for similar finished products can be planned using this strategy. The planning material is then assigned to the material master record of the finished products to plan. Planned independent requirements are created for the planning material. Incoming sales orders consume the planned independent requirements of the planning material.
I hope it will help you,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • Plan Assessment and Allocation for Service Orders (CS)

    Hello,
I'm trying to run plan assessment (KSUB) and plan allocation (KO9E) for a service order (created via IW31), but I'm not able to do it.
I can do assessments (KSU5) and allocations (KO8G) with real values, but since I'm not able to do it in plan mode, I can't have comparative values between real and planned values (no value is flowing to allocation secondary cost elements).
Can anyone let me know if this is some sort of limitation for Service Orders? Because I checked SPRO in transaction code KOAI and for this type of orders there is no Indicator for Integrated Planning, nor it's possible to assign a planning profile.
Many thanks for any help you can provide!
    Regards,
    Cátia

I created a SAP message and they confirmed that this is not possible.

  • What is "WITHDRAWAL:" and "ALLOCATED" in Forecast tab in RRP3

    Hello Gurus,
The quantity and date in withdrawal and allocated in forecast tab of RRP3 does not match with MB51 of ECC,
also pls clarify exactly how it is determined.
    Regards.

Hi there!  Withdrawal and allocated quantities distinguish between two concepts - forecast consumption and forecast reduction.  The withdrawal quantity represents the amount of forecast which has been "reduced" and the allocated quantity represents the amount of forecast which has been "consumed".  Consumption becomes reduction when a sales order / delivery is PGI'd.  Or, when an SO is canceled, the consumption is simply reversed and no reduction occurs.
Forecast reduction prevents "over-planning" for a given time period, meaning that the system "remembers" how much was shipped out to the customer so that the forecast shows in the system as "fulfilled".
For example, consider a day which has a forecast of 10.  There are open sales orders of 5, and another 3 were ordered and shipped today.  Assume also that there is no forward/backward consumption.  SO's consume forecast for the same day only.  In this case, the allocated quantity would be 5 - for the currently open orders.  The withdrawal quantity would be 3.  And the remaining unconsumed forecast for the day would be 2.
Not sure why there may be inconsistencies with ECC, however.  If you give more specifics on the nature of the discrepancy, I will try to respond with some additional input.

  • Difference between Withdrawal Qty and Allocated

    Hi!
Can anyone tell me the difference between Withdrawal Qty and Allocated in tcode RRP3 in tab Forecast?
In tab detail I have the Plan Qty (Forecast) and the Withdrawal Qty that most of days is the same quantity as Plan Qty and no value in Allocated. The category text is Forecast is this cases.
In other days, I have Withdrawal Qty different from Plan Qty and values in Allocated. I see that the allocated values are from orders or deliveries because the category text is SalesOrder or Deliv. and I see the ECC document number, but what means Withdrawal Qty in this and other case?
    EX:
date                  material    location     category text  Plan Qty  Withdrawal Qty  Allocated
    12.03.2009     1270999     UN02     FC req.            726         726                       0
    17.03.2009     1270333     UN02     FC req.          1.478         410                     60
    17.03.2009     1270999     UN76        SalesOrder     0     0                             40
    17.03.2009     1270999     UN769     SalesOrder     0     0                             20
    Regards,
    Teresa Lopes

    Hi Teresa,
The forecast tab shows the consumption scenario.
It has Planned Qty. , Allocated Qty.,  Withdrawal and remaining.
Planned Qty. is the qty in forecast keyfigure
Allocated is the qty. allocated to the sales order by the system.
Withdrawal is the qty. totally deduced from the forecast once the order is PGIed.
Remaining is the qty. left in forecast
    Example:
If the strategy is 10 ( sales orders do not consume forecast)
You have a forecast of 100 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 0
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 100
You create a sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 50
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 100
You create a delivery for this sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 50
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 100
You PGI the delivery for this sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty:0
    Withdrawal: 50
    Remaining: 50
The same above thing when the strategy is anything else except 10 like 20, 30 or 40 ( sales orders consume forecast)
You have a forecast of 100 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 0
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 100
You create a sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 50
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 50
You create a delivery for this sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty: 50
    Withdrawal: 0
    Remaining: 50
You PGI the delivery for this sales order of 50 PCs
    Planned qty: 100
    Allocated Qty:0
    Withdrawal: 50
    Remaining: 50
    Hope this helps.

  • Data Source to upload plan data for CO_OM_CCA_: CC: Costs and Allocations

    Hi Guru's,
We have Data source that which upload Actual data for CCA (0CO_OM_CCA_1 - Cost Centers:cost and allocations).  Every time it is full upload before loading the data deletion of previous load request will be done.
One more information required that i have checked in the BW cube for plan data it is available in the info cube for one cost center and rest of the costcenter i don't have the data now the users are requesting to upload the plan data for rest of cost centers.
Now as per the business requirement the users are requesting to upload the plan data in to the same i am not sure whether it will pull the plan data with actuals in to BW cube. Is there any alternate with the same data source or else is there any specific data source for uploading Costs and Allocations plan data
Please suggest me how can i go a head with this requirement.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Ganni

You can use the same datasource to load plan/budget data to the cube for all the costcenters. And regarding the actuals, you can use 0CO_OM_CCA_9 datasource to load to actuals cube and create a multi on top of both plan and actuals cube for reporting purposes.

  • Steps for implementing PM Order Cost and allocation Report

    Hi experts,
I would like some of the experts to suggest prior steps involved in implementing PM Order Cost and allocation Report?
Is there any specific PM documentatio other then help.sap.com documentation?
    Thank you
    arun

    Hi,
the CO-Sources (and PM is similar there) deliver plan and actual costs in different rows separated with the characteristics 0VTYPE and 0VERSION (this one separating different versions of plan data) in your case you will get in your transactional data:
ServiceOrder   0VTYPE    SWG (i leave the rest of the keys and attributes out)
    SO1000          20             15.000 €   for your plan date
    SO1000          10             10.000 €   that are your actual data
so what wil happen if 0VTYPE is not a Key in your DSO is that first the plan record is updated in DSO and then the second actual record overwrites this value becaus both have the same key SO1000.
You have to define carefully what keys you use in DSO to avoid this. If you can try create a test-Cube on base of the DataSource fields and look how the data are displayed in there because a cube regards all fields as key's.
    regards
    Christoph

  • Distribution  and allocation

    Hi Gurus,
Please could you help me clarify the difference between distribution like top-down and Allocation as in cost allocation concepts?
    Thanks
    Markus Z.

    Thanks Gurus,
Are the concepts the same in the context of cost center ? The online help link showed that it was for profit center. Can I assume these concepts are the same and same meaning in both contexts?
Finally, can I say that both assessmt and allocation effectively does the same things but with conditions being slightly different, as stated by Ramesh?
In lay man terms, can I say that assessment and allocation is like dividing an overhead cost into respective components based on some factors?
    regards
    Markus Z.

  • Used and allocated Shadow Copy Storage space is showing values in GB .

    Hi All ,
This is an production issue and i need an urgent help on this case.
In my environment i am having exchange server 2013 in DAG extended with three sites. On that i am having two mailbox servers in the production site and one mailbox server in remaining two sites.
we have mounted all the mailbox databases in one production mailbox server. Those databases are present in LUN mapped to the production mailbox servers from SAN storage.
    Issue :
Few of the mailbox databases are occupying too much of size on the LUN than it's original size.
Say for instance i have kept the mailbox database called "test" which is present on the LUN with the size of 190 GB.On that whole space the mailbox database is occupying only 100GB but on the diskmgmt and also on the explorer it is showing
only the free space as 17 GB.
Finally we have run the below mentioned command and found that the used and allocated shadow storage is occupying the size around 34 GB.
Attached snap for your reference :
Question : How to reclaim the space occupied by the shadow copy storage to the LUN ? If possible someone tell me why this issue is happening ?
    Thanks & Regards S.Nithyanandham

    Hi,
According to my research and technology, it’s caused by Volume Shadow Copy Service which is used to backup infrastructure for the Microsoft operation systems, as well as a mechanism for creating consistent point-in-time copies of data known as shadow copies.
We can use VssAdmin to create, delete, and list information about shadow copies. More details about Volume Shadow Copy Service, for your reference:
