Converting Line item dimension to non line item dimension

I have some BI 7.0 issues.
For some of the existing cubes I had certain dimension as line item dimension  - I wanted to add some characteristic to these dimensions. I am able to do this change and activate the cube.
But we noticed that the data which is a part of the line item dimension is lost. If the data set is small then we could have done a reload but in my case the volumes are huge, so reloading data is not a possible solution. We actually did the same exercise in BW 3.5 and noticed that the data is intact. We have looked into OSS notes and not found anything so far.
Kindly help me to find a way to convert Line item dimension to non line item dimension in BI 7.0 without loosing Data.

Hi,
the only way to do is to generate a new cube and transfer the data from the first cube via transformation rule. A conversion within the existing cube is not possible.

  • Item Category N (non-stock item) in BOM creation - Preq Generation

    Hi All
I have a material component that is planned in APO and not in ECC6. We would like to keep the one BOM for the finished good. Problem is that when we perform the backflush in ECC6, the system wants to backflush the material and causes errors due to missing stock.
So I assigned the material as a non stock item in the BOM but the system will auto generate  a purchase requisitions for Non stock bom components (item category N) when the process order is created. It is possible to turn off the auto creation of the purchase req for non stock bom components?
    I have tried the following:
    - Explosion type in item data, created new key with 'Switch off planning' indicator set in system configuration
    - created new 'Z' item category with inventory management de-selected
Both approaches causes system error: Puchase data of material in not maintained
I also tried leaving as a stock item with the bulk material indicator selected in the item data. This does not work as the cif will then exclude the component when data is transferred to APO
Funny enough, the system does not generate a purchase req for non stock bom items when using Repetitive Manufacturing. Any help will be greatly appreciated
    kind regards
    Grant brockelbank

    Hello Vivek
    Thank you for your response
The item is a non stock item. I do not want this item to be backflushed at all. This can be achieved using the 'N' non stock item category but the problem is that the system will attempt to generate a purchase requisition when the process order is created.
I do not want the system to generate a purchase req in ECC6 as this item is a planning material that is planned in APO (used for medium to long term planning in a simulation version). We are hoping to use the one Bom for ECC6 and APO planning. The generation of the purchase reqs is a bit of a waste as we will never convert them and there is potential to cause issues for purchasing.
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks again for your help
    kind regards

  • Reset & reverse document with open item managed and none open item managed

    Dear forum,
I would like to confirm the below.
If i have a posted document where the double entry has open item managed account and none open item managed account and where the open item managed account is cleared, how can i reverse this document.
The problem now is FBRA cannot reset and reverse (as the document partly has none open item managed account) and FB08 also cannot reverse (as part of the account is open item managed account and it is cleared).
Besides manually reverse via FB01, any other method?
    Thanks
Moderator: Please, avoid asking basic questions

Which document are you trying to clear using FBRA?  You should reset the "clearing document" using FBRA; not the original document that has one open item and one non-open item.  Once you reset the clearing document using FBRA, you should then be able to reverse the original document (the one that has one open item and one non-open item) using FB08.

  • What  is use of  Item Category N(non-stock item) in BOM creation

    Dear Experts,
What  is use of  Item Category N(non-stock item) in BOM creation ?
    regards
    rajakarthik

    Hi,
This item category is used for components which are not kept in stock if they are used in a bill of material (BOM). Non-stock items can be entered in the BOM with or without a master record. To enter a non-stock item without a master record, you must simply enter a descriptive text.
When you use this item category, the system automatically creates a purchase requisition for these components,
    Special functions
The following functions are supported for non-stock items
    • You maintain purchasing data for non-stock items in the bill of material.
    • In the planning run, the system generates purchase requisitions
instead of dependent requirements for components that are procured directly. When you configure your R/3 System for MRP, you can define whether direct procurement is triggered by the planning run or by production order management.
    • Product costing processes take valuation data from the BOM item.
The system determines the release strategy on the basis of the price data you enter. The material group is required to produce a purchase requisition.

  • Converting a GL account from Open Item Mgnt to Non-Open Item Mgnt

    Hi All,
I have a GL account which needs to be switched from being an open item managed account to a non-open item managed account.  The account has already been posted to.  I have therefore posted a document to bring the balance of the account in local currency to zero and have also cleared the account so there are no open items showing (via transaction FBL3N).
However, when I try to untick the 'open item management' box in the master record (via transaction FS00), I get an error message saying that the balance is zero but open items still exist.  I'm abit confused as the balance of the account is zero and there are no open items that I can see, even though the system is telling me there are!
Am I missing any steps?  Could someone take me through exactly what I need to do to be able to untick the box and set the GL account correctly.
I've already searched on the forum and found advice about changing the settings via OBA5, but when i look at that transaction there are no messages with class FH in there.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks
    James

    Hello,
In your case, though balance is ZERO, they are not cleared against each other. It is the reason you are still facing the problem.
If ther is no open item management check box, then copy program RFSEPA02 to ZRFSEPA02 and append the initialization control.
If there is already open item management but you want to remove then copy RFSEPA03 to ZRFSEPA03 and append the initialization control.
    Do the following steps:
    1. Block the account for postings (all check boxes) in FS00
    2. Run the customized Z program (Give the company code and account number)
    3. Unblock the account for postings (remove all check boxes) in FS00
Take help from your ABAPer to stopping the initilization error check.
    Hope this solves your issue.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Change GL Account from Open Item Managed into non-Open Item Managed

In the former R3 environments, release 4.6 there was the program RFSEPA03 to turn off open item management.
However, in ECC 6.0 this program is blocked and there seems to be no possibility to change a GL account back to non-open item mgt.
    Please comment,
    Kind Regards WR

    Yes .. I Agree with you ...
Actually I accidently, did not check the GL first, but run the ZRFSEPA02 first .... because of that, my GL is check as an open item and as a recon account too ...
    any solutions ?

  • Schedule line confirmation date for 3rd party sales( non stock item)

    Hi ,
While creating an sales order i have a stock  item and 4 non stock items . All the non stok items are similar to 3rd party sales as they are services . While created the sales order for the no stock item the confirmed schedule date is given as 12 days in the future or in one case after month .
Can  someone please help me in understanding how the dates are being calculated . I havent created any PO for the non stock items.
I would like the confirmed date to be picked as the system date.

    Hi,
There can be multiple reasons for this.
You have not mentioned the material type. Anyhow, first check Material Master
Purchasing view> GR Processing Time field
Sales / general Plant > Set up time and processing time field
    If MRP views are maintained
    In MRP2 View > Scheduling.
In case you do not want availability check to be carried out
Untick Availbility check and TOR check boxes in VOV6 for the schedule lines determined for these materials.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need negative quantity non-inventory items on Credit Memo

    Version: (2007A)
Description of requirements: (Please provide a detailed description)
Our customer issues many invoices with a negative quantity line item for a miscellaneous non-inventory item. These non-inventory items are used to reduce the amount of the invoice regarding miscellaneous credits to their customers.  These are not discounts.
When the customer wants to credit these invoices, they canu2019t create a Credit Memo based on the invoice because SAP wonu2019t allow this if there are line items with negative amounts.
When they create a credit memo not based on an invoice, they arenu2019t allowed to enter a negative quantity for a line item as they are for an Invoice. They are forced to create a credit memo not based on an invoice the inventory item line items and an invoice or Journal Entry for the negative quantity line item to debit back the miscellaneous line amount.
    As an example:
Invoice line item one for inventory item: qty one, price 100,line total $100.00
Invoice line item two non-inventory item misc credit: quanity -1, price 10, total -$10.00
    Invoice Total $90.00
In Order to provide the correct credit amount, they have to create a Credit Memo not based on an invoice for line item one, qty one, price 100 u2013 value -100 and an invoice for the non-inventory item for qty one, price 10 -  value 10.00.
This creates a net credit for the customer of 90.00
This looks ridiculous to their customers when they see these transactions on their statements, creates extra work for the users and there is no link between the three documents.
By using inventory items for these miscellaneous credits, they can assign a sales revenue of their choice. They have multiple sales accounts and the GL posting is determined by the item group for the item. By assigning the desired item group to these non-inventory items, they can control which sales account is updated on their marketing documents when using these non-inventory items.
If they were to use the Freight items, they would need a separate freight setup entry for combination of item group and miscellaneous credit. Because they have so many Item Groups and types of credits, they would need a great many separate Freight Charges to choose from.
All of the above pertains to all of our customers. This customer has a custom add-on and their marketing documents are all created from custom objects.  They hit a button on the custom sales contract screen and an invoice is created.  When they hit another button on the screen, the selected invoice is credited. They have legally binding contracts for fixed quantities to be shipped, so we decrease the quantity shipped when creating an invoice and decrease the quantity shipped when a credit memo is created. The contract is fulfilled when the exact quantity contracted for has been shipped. Because the credit memo fails, we canu2019t update the custom objectu2019s remaining to be shipped, rendering it inaccurate from that time forward. (reducing the quantity shipped is part of the Credit Memo creation process).Creating Credit Memos and Invoices from the interface fixes the inventory count, customer balance, etc., but we have no way of fixing the sales contractu2019s quantity shipped & remaining to be shipped or linking the contracts to the documents created from the interface.
Business needs: (Please describe the impact on your business, if the functionality is not realized)
Examples: (Please describe a typical example, how the functionality should work.)
Credit Memos should allow negative quantities and line total amounts for non-inventory items, the same way that A/R Invoices do, so that credit memos can be based on invoices that have negative quantity non-inventory line items.
Current Workaround: (Please describe the workarounds you are using at the moment)
    Please see above
Proposed solution: (Please suggest how the new functionality should work)
Credit Memos should allow negative quantities and line total amounts for non-inventory items, the same way that A/R Invoices do.

    Hi Sean......
System is behaving properly as per its logic. Infact it does same in all the previous or upcoming versions.
If you have Item Type GRPO for Non Inventory Item it does not create any accounting but you can see the same during AP invoice.
GRPO for such type is only optional. For further clarification you can discuss this with your CA what he suggests. But i suggest you to raise AP invoice also for getting Account effect. Just see doing this in test DB you get your answer......

  • Problem with non-database item

I have a 10g rel 2 form that has a post-query trigger that populates a non-database item. The non-database item has a when-validate-item trigger which I only want to fire when the user changes something in that field not at query time because it causes the form status to be changed. How can I either prevent this trigger from firing in query mode or test within the trigger that I'm in query mode so that the logic won't get executed?

Put this at the top of your when-validate trigger:
      If :system.mode = 'QUERY' then
        return;
End if;I have found that post-query activity often causes ALL when-validate triggers at the item and block level to run. So you may need those three lines in every when-validate trigger.

  • DTW error The non-inventory item cannot be defined as by-product

    Hello all,
I just used DTW to upload some BOMs. The majority of them went through fine, but I got the following error message on a number of items.
The non-inventory item cannot be defined as by-product [OITT.pricelist][line:9], 'row no.9', Application-defined or object-defined erroroproductTrees.
    What does it mean?
I have checked the relevant items, they all are not "non-stock" item, and their Item master data look fine.
I was not trying to import anything relating to price or pricelist, so I don't think [OITT.pricelist] was actually relevant to the problem.
I could add those items manually onto BOMs in SAP.
Has anyone gotten this type of error before? Please could you share some of your experience ?
    Many thanks
    Yang

    Yang,
This could happen if you are using comma delimited files and there are some commas left in any of the fields you want to import. This makes the column values slipped and could cause weird error messages like this.
Open your file, highlight all and with CTRL+H replace all commas to nothing.
    Hope it helps.

  • Change GL acc to NON open item Management

    Good day all
We have a couple of GL accounts that the client want to change from open item management to NON open item management.
I was told to  1. Block the GL accounts
                        2.  Clear the balances,
                        3.  Customize program RFSEPA03 to Z program and run
                        4.  Move balance back to GL account
                        5. Unblock GL account.
My question now is, I can change the open item setting after the balance is cleared and save the changes, so why do I have to use program RFSEPA03 then? Is there any other purpose for program RFEPS03 other dan taking the "tick" out of the OPen Item Management box?
If I do it manually, it will save me development time as the program wont be needed in a customized format.
    Please advice.
    Kind regards
    Lu

    Hi Gopal,
You can maitian a gl a/c without line item display to do so follow the path
    sap easy access-accouting-financial accouting-general ledger-master records-gl a/cs-individual processing-centrally, or trans code FS00
then open the gl account in the required company code and click control data ,then  click change and under account management in company code u can un check line item display and save the changes.
Make sure line item display is off for recon accounts as the line item are maintained at customer or vendor level and for bank a/c line item should always be ticked on .
Hope this is helpful if so  reward points.

  • Unit of measure for Stock and Non-stock Item in CJ20N

When I attach Material to an activity (item Category N   Non-stock item) in Project Builder (CJ20N), It is peaking its Base unit of Measure as unit. Now when I try to change it, it is showing an error
Item category N: Only base unit of measure M allowed
    Message no. CO344
But for the same material if I change the item Category to L   Stock item, then it allows me to change the unit.
Please guide me regarding this Behavior. Is there any customization, by doing which it will allow me do the same for Non-stock Item or It is not Possible.

firstly I am assuming that the activity is internal processing type - doesn't matter really
now to attach a material select actvity and from the template area click and drag material which will open the material detail screen in the work area
because it is a non stock item I am assuming text description - in the requirements qty you enter the qty and next to it the units - changeable
if you choose a material number maintained as material master then obviously the unit will be from the material master.
If you are using an externally processing activity then in config check OPUU for the network type and see if order unit has been populated - that might be the problem

  • Asset procurement & Non stock item procurement

    Hi,
I want to procure Asset items. For that do i need to maintain asset master & material master both. Than create Purchase order with AAC as A. Will the PO be framework order or standard PO?Can anyone pls let me know the steps
Also for non stock items do i have to do GR. In that case the goods are coming to stock as i have to give storage location during migo. What is the procedure?

    Hi,
For procuring Assets, you will have to maintain Asset master & material master both in your system. You place a PO for the material (which you define as your asset & want to capitalize) & maintain AAC as A- Asset. Then at the item level, you assign the asset code to the masterial. After you post the GRN, the debit entries are posted to the asset.
You have to post the GR for non stock items as well as stock items. The non stock item will be consumed dirctly to the acount assignment you have mentioned. For stock item, the inventory posting will be done. For stock item, the storage location will flow from the PO (if mentioned) otherwise you will have to post it yourself at MIGO in tab 'Where' at Storage Location'.

  • Pick List with Non Stock Items

Is there anyway to edit the Pick List so that it displays Non Stock Items?
Our client does not want to track certain Items as Stock and as such they are all created as Non Stock. The Pick List is required to show that stores that the Non Stock Items are included, however they are not displayed.

    Hi Kevin,
As the name suggests, the Pick list will only work for Items which are Inventory Items.  A non inventory item is not recoganized to have the need to be picked.
Therefore a NON-INVENTORY Item cannot be made to print / be available on the Pick List.
