Could not find java.exe

I've installed the jdk 1.4.2 with netbeans, but as i try to execute netbeans i received an error message saying "could not find java.exe"
What do i need to do to fix this error? thanks

Okay, I just moved to a Mac, which automatically has the 1.4.2 jdk installed. So I downloaded 5.0 and NetBeans 4.1. I set the platform for a certain project (I wish I could change the default, but I don't think it will let me) to 1.5.0 but still get an error when I try to use generics and the like. What am I doing wrong?

The installation dir default valyue for the latest JRMC is C:\Program Files\Java\jrockit-jdk1.6.0_29-R28.2.0-4.1.0

  • Eclipse give following error :could not find Java 2 runtime environment

When I try to start eclipse it is giving me following error could not find Java 2 runtime environment. It was working fine untill I installed a new verson of eclipse although I am not whethar that is the source of problem.
When i give java -version command in command prompt it shows
    Registry key 'Software\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\CurrentVersion'
has value '1.4', but '1.6' is required.
    Error: could not find java.dll
Error: could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment.
My java Home ,classpath , and path are all set as I say it was earliar woking fine.
    Please Help.

I know this is a relatively old post, but some people can stumble on this page when doing a search for this problem.
Anyway, I ran into this on my PC after I installed Sybase which had an older jre.
    Solution:
    1. Run regedit
    2. Look for Java Runtime Environment
You may have to do multiple searches. Eventually you'll find one with the version number.
    3. Modify the value and change it to the correct version number. (in your case, you would have changed it from 1.4 to 1.6).
This is much quicker than reinstalling Java every time installing something that uses an older version of Java hoses up the registry value.

Consider going to a Windows forum
(or better yet, to Microsoft's web site or to a local book store)
and learning about Vista's "User Account Control".
At least do a Google search on it.

  • Could not find .java and .class files...

I am working on Windows Vista operating system.
I am able to access the .java which I created and also .class files from the command prompt.
But I am not able to find those files in the bin folder in Windows Explorer.
I want to delete some .java and .class files. When I use the delete command on the command prompt , I am getting ---- could not find the file.
    Can anyone help me...

    Hey everyone,
    I found the answer!
If the command prompt application is run as administrator(since it is windows vista), the created .java files as well as .class files will be stored and can be seen in the bin folder.
However, I could not locate the .java files (and also corresponding .class files) which I created previously.

First, a question: You are showing a prompt of a dollar sign, which is not the default Windows prompt. Please explain - are you using a shell program of some sort, or ?
    Try this:
Verify that your Test.java source file exists and is correctly named, with the extension of "java". Change the current directory to that directory. Compile using the full path to the javac.exe file - it appears that the command should be:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\javac Test.javaIf that compiles, then run the program like this, from the same directory - include the period after classpath and the surrounding spaces:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\java -classpath . TestIf these commands work, either the command shell or the Windows path environment variable have a problem.
The path variable in your original post and reply #2 are both wrong. The only Java entry that belongs in the path variable is the path to the javac.exe file, which appears to be the default:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin
Also, clean up your classpath, none of the bold entries should be there:
    .;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_01\bin;C:\javamyprograms\Privacy-PolicyStudy;C:\javamyprograms;C:\jdk1.5.0\bin;C:\jdk1.5.0\Myprograms;C:\aima;C:\Downloads\junit3.8.1\junit 3.8.1\junit.jar

There is an existing Bug 8431390 - WLST NOT WORKING IF WE USE NON-DEFAULT INSTALLATION (WL_HOME OUTSIDE BEA_HOME)
As per this bug, the issue can be reproduced as follows:
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Install WLS 10.3GA (essex) kit in a non-default fashion (WL_HOME outside BEA_HOME)
    2. Go to ur $WL_HOME/common/bin directory and execute wlst.cmd
    3. It exits with the following exception:
java.lang.RuntimeException:could not find the OffLine WLST class
    Hope this helps.
