Course Tracker in Flash

Hi All,
       I am looking out for an swf output for my course.
1) Screen 1:
A user login Screen - Once i enter my user name and password i will enter into the Screen 2
2) Screen 2:
Screen 2 Displays with my User name on Top and Frame out looks like
  Course
      Lessons under the course
      1)
      2)
      3)....
      Towards the right side i want to view whether the lesson is Completed/Not Started/In Progress (which has to call from the database)
             followed with Date and Duration.
Please let me know the steps to be followed to make this output.  (To make this output format what do we need to use like.. flash, xml,sql database...)
Thanks and Regards
Ranjith Kumar.

Hi
What you are hoping to do is relatively easy to achieve in Flash.
All visual elements can be created and displayed in Flash, however due to your requirement for each tutorial's status (Completed/Not Started/In Progress)
this logic state would have to be stored within a database.
Also, if this is a multi-user environment you would have to provide user-account access to differentiate user progress at every stage.
Hope it helps.

    Do you want to save the data between sessions? If you wan to save between sessions, do you want the user to be able to log in from anywhere or always from the same computer?
    If you want to save the user data from session to session, then you'll need to save out the data to an external file. You can save this data to the user's computer or to an external data base. In either case you will use the ExternalInterface class. Look here for more information on this: http://www.adobe.com/livedocs/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/external/ExternalInter face.html

  • Tracking in flash/Swf :: Help me please :)

    This is my first time working with Ad Tracking in Flash and I
    want to make sure I'm going about it correctly.. I can't test it on
    my side, so I want to know it's right when I pass it on to the
    client.
    I've gone through the tutorials on Adobe and here's what I'm
    working with:
    Rather than attaching the clickTAG function to a specific
    object, I've added it to the code (on click function) in the 1st
    frame of the document as such:
    function doClick():Void {
    getURL("clientsurlishere", "_blank");
    if (clickTAG.substr(0,5) == "http:") {
    getURL(clickTAG);
    ..since I don't have a way to test it (or do I?), is this
    going to work? Or does it actually have to be attached to the
    object? It's set up so that a few movies and images within the
    document are clickable (which is why it was better, and easier to
    update in the future, to set up the code in the 1st frame rather
    than on each object).
    Also, would I add it to an ad/page that is using XML to add
    all links to the site? And do I add it to each URL instance or is
    there a way to "blanket" any and all clicks from that are included
    in the XML? .. Here's an example of the line of code in the XML:
    <plan logoImg="images/plan/logo.png" learnLink="Learn
    more" learnLinkURL="
    http://www.clientURL.com/"
    planBuy="images/buy_btn.png" planBuyURL="
    http://www.clientURL.com/buy/">

    Does anyone know how to do video tracking in flash? I want a

  • Visually add tracking to Flash content

    Visually add tracking to Flash content, directly from the creative workflow, without manually tagging each piece of content. This will dramatically shorten analytics implementation times, allowing you to focus on the impact of your creative work.

  • Redirection loop - can't access courses/tracks without quitting iTunes

    At times when I’m on the Clemson on iTunes U site, I find myself being directed back to the initial page repeatedly when I try to access a course. This usually happens on occassion after I’ve been logged in for a while.
    Upon selecting a course page to enter, the web browser that I used to access Clemson on iTunes U becomes active as if it is sending me to Clemson on iTunes U for the first time. Once the site loads, I try to select a course page to go into and I begin this loop of being redirected to the initial page of Clemson on iTunes U again.
    In order to get around this, I have to close/quit iTunes altogether and log back in via Clemson University’s credential script. Do you have any idea why this might happen or how I can fix this?

    Had exactly the same problem on 2 Macs running OSX 10.6.8.
    On both Macs, Firefox is the default Browser and Cookies and Scripts are allowed for iTunes.com.
    However, Safari Preferences - Privacy - Block Cookies was set to "Always".  I changed this setting to "From third parties and advertisers".
    Now iTunes allows me to view my Account Information.
    Hopes this helps someone.  I couldn't find this fix posted anywhere.

  • Track flash errors on remote machine

    Hey,
    I'm wondering may I run Adobe Scout to track the flash errors on remote machine?

    You can remotely profile with Scout, so long as the machine running Scout is visible to your remote machine (it has to be able to connect to it). See the section "Local and remote profiling" in the getting started guide for Scout:

  • CP8 flash crash in IE8 near end of course

    My Captivate 8 course (published for Flash) keeps crashing in IE8 near the end of the course:
    I removed two slides from the end of the course, republish and did not receive this error. The problem seems to be related to the course duration. How can I resolve this issue without removing content from my course?

    After some extensive testing, we have confirmed that the error only occurs in IE8 and does not occur in later versions of IE. Deleting the slide and recreating it did not help. The only thing that is effective is shortening the duration of the course by deleting slides (it doesn't seem to matter which slides). Also, the crash does not always occur on exactly the same slide. It crashes near the end of the course, but the slide it crashes on varies between test cycles. The link below suggests that the icon means this is a Flash memory error caused by the browser being unable to support the Flash content. Now that I have more information, I would like to re-phrase my post in hopes of getting the attention of Adobe. Is there a way to delete this post so I can start from scratch? (I know people don't like it when you double post but my understanding of the issue has changed since I first wrote it) What do you suggest?

  • Flash just doesn't work right, period.

    Flash has multiple problems over ALL common browsers, including Chrome. Some browsers worse than others. Have the latest version.
    Videos stutter constantly.
    Videos just stop dead in their tracks. Restating gives me a few more minutes and then they may stop again (usually but not always).
    Seems to be OK with standard videos. Problems are with HD videos.
    Have plenty of bandwidth. Right now it is 28 mps. Using Vista (ugh). It is a laptop so cannot revert to XP. Wish I could. I have an unused full version of XP.
    Wouldn't you think as a very old program that Adobe would have fixed everything by now (IF they cared to of course)? Unfortunately Flash is so ingrained that Adobe has a monopoly. So I doubt they will ever spend the bucks to fix it once and for all.

    I just had the identical experience. Both laptop and desktop have the same prefs set from within iCal to sync my calendars and address books. I've synced (sunked?) three or four times now, it appears to be working, but when all is said and done I am left with totally blank calendar on my desktop unit. Both have the latest Leopard upgrades. I also selected "merge all data" when prompted.
    What gives?

  • Basics on using Adobe Flash Player

    I'm trying to get a better understanding of some of the basics concerning Adobe Flash Player.
    I'm developing a web page with some third party software and have been provided with an HTML file to add to the site.  If I try to launch the HTML file either in the web site or stand-alone, nothing happens.  However, the person who provided me with the file sees an animation, apparently because she has Flash Player installed and I don't.
    There's a large user community who will view the site and rather than expect all users to install Flash Player, I'm looking for an alternative.  What I'm missing is how Flash Player effectively creates an animation from the HTML file that I was provided with ... HTML files are by themselves static.  I was hoping that I could somehow convert this animation into a WMV or similar file type that could run without having the site users install any software.
    I'd appreciate any ideas on this.  Thanks.

    Flash content on a web site is usually in the form of a SWF file.  The Flash Player browser add-on will then play its content.  That, of course, requires that Flash Player is installed on the client side.
    The alternative to Flash Player is HTML5, which is supported by all modern web browsers, and does not require the installation of any browser add-on.  See http://www.w3schools.com/html/html5_intro.asp

  • Is there a Flash to HTML5 converter? Or other options.

    Is there a Flash to HTML5 converter Application for desktop/laptop Macs? I have tried to stay the course of 'no flash' but it can be challenging.
    So a sub question could also be, for those in the Mac community who advocate HTML5, what do you do when you come across a site that requires flash?

  • Flash Player not showing up in Safari Plug-ins/Firefox Add-ons

    OS: Mac OSX 10.4.11
    Safari version: 4.1.3
    Firefox version: 3.0.19
    I am trying to do an online training course, but the site tells me I need to install the Flash Player plug-in to be able to view the site. I downloaded the newest version, and thought I had installed it, but I still get the same message when I go to the course website, and Flash Player doesn't show up anywhere in my plug-in/add-on lists for Safari or Firefox. Is there something I'm not doing right? Is my computer just too outdated? Or is this more likely to be a problem with that website. I haven't noticed problems with any other site, but I confess I haven't really been looking. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hello,
    Do you know if your computer is Intel or Power PC based?  If it's Power PC (sometime referred to as PPC) the last version of Flash Player for this architecture can be found here:  Flash Player 10.1.102.64
    Please download and extract the zip.  Navigate to and mount "/Flash Player 10.1.102.64/10_1r102_64/flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg"  You should then be able to install using the normal procedure.
    Thanks,
    Chris
