Create border around Grid/GridItem

Hi,
I am stuck with a problem and no idea on how to proceed on this.
I have created a Grid and want to draw border around it so its appearance is like table. The borders are just not appearing. Can someone provide any direction what I may be missing.
Here is the code
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" layout="absolute">
    <mx:Style>
        Grid
            horizontal-gap:-1;
            vertical-gap:-1;
            border-color:#000000;
            border-style:solid;
            border-thickness:5;
        GridItem
            border-color:#000000;
            border-style:solid;
            border-thickness:5;
    </mx:Style>
    <mx:Grid x="31" y="24">
        <mx:GridRow>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" colSpan="2" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
        </mx:GridRow>
        <mx:GridRow>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="120" colSpan="2" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" colSpan="3" height="11">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
        </mx:GridRow>
        <mx:GridRow>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="100" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
            <mx:GridItem width="120" colSpan="3" height="30">
                <mx:Label text ="Nitin">
                </mx:Label>
            </mx:GridItem>
        </mx:GridRow>
    </mx:Grid>
</mx:Application>
I even tried using the graphics to create border but it is not working
private var bgColor:uint
= 0x000000;
private var borderColor:uint  = 0x666666;
private var borderSize:uint   = 2;
private var cornerRadius:uint = 0;
var grid:Grid = new Grid();
grid.graphics.beginFill(bgColor);
grid.graphics.lineStyle(borderSize, borderColor);
grid.graphics.drawRoundRect(0, 0, grid.width, grid.height, cornerRadius);
grid.graphics.endFill();

• Creating border around dynpro screen

Hi
I want to know how we can create a border. My dynpro screen is occupying 70% of screen area. I need to create a border as we do in word documents.
Regards
Vishal kapoor

Hi Vishal,
My repsone maybe a lil late. but the better way will be to use a "Contextual Panel" UI Element. Create a "FreeTextArea" sub-UI-element in it. Within that, embed all your UI Elements or Groups. It will look really good with a Blue Shaded Border or so.. try it n lemme know if its ok.

• How can I create a white border around figures that are in an image? (CS 6; examples+image included)

Hi,
I have CS6 and am wondering how to create a white ("comic style"?) border around figures in an image, as in the examples below. I don't wish to include the black shadow of the border, just the white part.
Examples:
Here's the image I'd like to alter, making a white border around the outline of all five figures:
I researched for quite a while but could find no instructions. It would be very much appreciated if someone knows and would be kind enough to share the technique! Thank you.

If you make the image a layer (opposed to Background)...
You could Select the blue with the Magic Wand as Semaphoric says, then fill with white.  Then choose Select - Modify Selection - Contract, and mask or delete the remaining pixels.  The Contract operation will give you a nice border the size you choose.
For extra credit, you could use Refine Edge to make the selection more accurate.
Click to see the image  against a dark background.

• When I have a border around a group of cellsand remove it, it also removes the grid lines. When I go to print the sheet, there are blank spaces where the border had been. I'm sing a MacBook.

When I have  a border around a group of cell, how do I remove it. If I outline the cells again and then show in the Inspector NO BORDER, it removes not only the borderbut when I go to print it also the grid lines.

What application are you using? Numbers? Excel? Something else?

• How to create a border around JCheckBox?

Hello,
I would like to set a border around a JCheckBox. I don't mean the little square arround the check symbol, I mean the whole component. Does anyone know how to do this?
More details:
What I am trying to do is to use a JCheckBox as the renderer for a column in a JTable. However, I would like the values of this column to look like the column headers. In other words, I am trying to create a "row header". However, when I try to set the border of my JCheckBox to the same thing as the header renderer component, it doesn't show up that way. If I just use a JLabel as the renderer, I can set the border and it shows.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you for your help.

• Creating a border around objects?

This should be simple but as a human being I'm useless and I can't figure it out
I want to create a border around images like the triangles on
this website.

Baby steps please, as I said I'm an invalid

I'm 73 you will get that math soon hopefully you also get to 73 some day take your time. By 15 I had to take it in school.
Equilateral triangle have three equal length sides and all three angle are 60degree  only these will expand with equal size borders added on the three sides.. Some triangle will expand with two equal size borders other all the borders will be different sizes. Symmetric things like squares and circles expand evenly.

• Create a white border around round object

Hi there,
I am a relative newbie to photoshop - I am trying to create a border around a logo that has rounded edges. I have used to stroke tool and it creates the border. However, when I try and save it and use it it still has square edges.
How do I get rid of the square edges and make sure that you only see the rounded border?
Thanks!

Images are created with square pixels and so all image formats are either square or rectangular.
What you need to do is create a transparent background for your round logo with border.
Then you need to save it in a image format that supports transparency. (hint: jpegs don't support transparency)
Quick way to do this is double click the background layer in the layer panel to unlock it. (assuming you only have 1 layer?)
Then select the area outside your logo that you want to make transparent and hit the delete key.
You should see a checkerboard pattern. This pattern is only to to show you that this area is transparent, it won't print as a checkerboard.
It also depends on how the image is being used as not all applications support transparency.

You should also ask this in the iPad forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

how do you create a border around text?

Can you be a little more specific about what you are trying to do and the application that you want to use? The methods can vary depending on the application and who published it. For instance, if you're using Final Cut Pro here is a discussion describing how the border can be created.

• How can I create a border around an image in cs6?

I would appreciate advice on how to place a border around an image in cs6.
Thanks in advance.

To add to the previous responses, if you want this only for 1 image on your page, you could either assign a specific ID or CLASS to the DIV that holds that image and assign CSS for that in particular like this:
HTML
<img src="./your/path/to/img.jpg" id="imgwithborder" />
CSS
img#imgwithborder{
border: 1px solid black; /* will render a 1px solid black line on all 4 sides */
Alternatively, you could use inline styling to achieve this:
HTML:
<img src="./your/path/to/img.jpg" style="border: 1px solid black;" />
Good luck.

• Turn off border around subreport that was created programmatically

I have inserted a subreport into a reportdocument using:
boSubreportClientDocument = boReportClientDocument.SubreportController.ImportSubreport(strSubRptFile, strSubRptFile, boSection)
This works fine, except it puts a border around the subreport.  How do I programmatically remove the border?
(This subreport was not inserted using the designer)
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
The border in not set from the subreport level, but from the main report level. Every object placed in a report, subreport, parameter, formula etc. has a generic ReportObject assigned to it. So after adding the subreport, you will need to loop through the report object in the section of the main report's  where the subreport was added...
So just say you added the subreport to the first section of the detail area you could do this to turn off the border:
// Loop through all report objects in the detail section area.
foreach (ISCRReportObject repObj in rptclientdoc.ReportDefinition.DetailArea.Sections [0].ReportObjects)
      // Check to see if it is subreport type
      if (repObj.Kind == CrReportObjectKindEnum.crReportObjectKindSubreport)
      // clone the report object
      ISCRReportObject newObj = repObj.Clone (true);
//modify the line style
newObj.Border.BottomLineStyle = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.CrLineStyleEnum.crLineStyleNoLine;
      newObj.Border.TopLineStyle = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.CrLineStyleEnum.crLineStyleNoLine;
      newObj.Border.RightLineStyle = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.CrLineStyleEnum.crLineStyleNoLine;
      newObj.Border.LeftLineStyle = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.CrLineStyleEnum.crLineStyleNoLine;
// tell the report to update the report object.
rptclientdoc.ReportDefController.ReportObjectController.Modify (repObj,newObj);

• Border for Grid Layout

Hi Developers,
Does anyone know how to put border around each cell so that a gridlayout can look like a table?  I used CSS to add border on the sides but what i exactly want to do is create a border around each cell so that when I run the report, I see a table instead of one big red box.
Thank you for all your help and suggestion!!
Raj

yes, like Mike already said.
Additionally I would put these into a class
myClass.sapUiMlt.zenControl {  border: 2px red solid;  }
and assign this class to each grid component you want to have the inside borders. otherwise automatically
all your grid cells will show borders.

• Can't get rid of white border around image

http://www.gunnar.ca/laminatepage2.htm
I created a rounded corner in photoshop for my table. I
created a cell in the bottom left corner of the table and placed
the gif. There is a thin whit border around the outer edge of the
gif, so it doesn't look genuinely rounded. Can anyone tell me how
to get rid of that so it looks like the table is actually rounded?
Thank you!

Because the table containing the GIF has a border. In your
styleA.css
stylesheet, the rule:
.border {
border: 1px solid #E5E5E5;
adds a border to the table. Delete the rule. Of course - that
may affect
other things that use the .border class. Or - delete the
class from the
table tag.
Several problems with the page:
styles.css cannot be found
sideNavStyles.css cannot be found

• Thick border around hyperlink in exported PDF (in some PDF viewers)

We are seeing an issue with the formatting of hyperlinks once a report is exported to PDF.
The problem is that the resulting PDF shows a thick black border around the hyperlink, but only when viewed in certain PDF viewers.  For example, the formatting looks fine in various versions of Adobe (both Reader and Acrobat), but when viewed in PDF Converter Pro (our company's new standard) we see the thick black border.
Also, GSview completely chokes and refuses to display the PDF.  Not sure if this error message is a red herring..
The problem occurs in PDF's created by the following Crystal environments:
- Full version of Crystal 2008 designer (even though Print Preview looks okay)
- A .NET web application built on Crystal 2008 components
- A .NET Windows application built on Crystal 8.5 components
It seems that our PDF output file has had this problem for at least the two years that we have been generating these reports, but was not noticed until we switched to a new standard PDF viewing application ([PDF Converter Pro|http://www.nuance.com/imaging/products/pdfconverter.asp]).
Initially, I thought that Crystal was relying on our installed PDF creation tool to generate the PDF, but I understand from this thread that Crystal uses its own PDF engine:
[Version of PDF export Engine|Version of PDF export Engine]
Any advice would be appreciated.  From what I have learned so far, I think our best option might be to find a way to get users to use Adobe Reader to view the problematic PDF files.
Edited by: Shannon Wagner on Sep 23, 2009 5:16 PM - (Removed GSView output since it seemed to be messing up the format of the post.)

Hola,
does anyone know if this bug (and yes, it is a bug), has been fixed in any later version of crystal reports ?
I am using Crystal 2008 and any object with a defined hyperlink is getting a black border written into the PDF when the settings on the control explicilty say 'None' for all 4 borders of the object. This is true when the pdf exported from CR is viewed on the latest versions of Snow Leopard (Mac OSX 10.7) on any Mac computer.
This is a posting for a mac forum circa 2009 which still applies at the the time of my posting here - http://hintsforums.macworld.com/archive/index.php/t-106893.html
The problem is that the PDF exported from CR is being generated with the following settings for the border of the affected objects:
/Border [ 10 10 10 60 ]
if the top,left,right,bottom border in CR is set to 'None', then the reports designer should actually be outputting this:
/Border [ 0 0 0 0 ]
if you open the PDF in TextEdit on the mac and make the above change, the borders disappear. However this is obviously not a suitable work-around for an end-user.
