Creation of Shortend Fiscal year..

Dear Frenz,
I have an issue regarding my shortened fiscal year.. My client is following 2009 as fiscal year for the period Jan 2008 to Dec 2008.
Now he is closing the books in september and wants to create a shortened fiscal year for oct, nov & Dec..
My question is the that need i create a new fiscal year variant or should i configure a shortened fiscal year in the existing variant only...
Regards,
Shanks...

Hi,
Can you please tell me why does he want to close the fiscal yr and have a new fiscal yr variant for remaining 3 periods?
Assume that he is selling the company to some one else he wanted to continue the same business and he wanted his business to run on SAP, then you will have to creat a new fiscal yr varint which should be "Short end Fiscal Yr" and "Short end Fiscal Yr" should be a yr dependent since he will never use the same kind of Fiscal yr and periods.
Please let me know if you have any concerns,
Hope understood and assign points if you get through.
Thanks,
Vasu..

Company 'A'is getting Merged with the Company 'B' on 15th February 2010. Company 'A' is suppose to submit all the financial details to the Company 'B' on 15th February 2010, furthermore the users with the Company 'A' should not be allowed to post any transactions after 15th February 2010.(Max they should be given 10 days grace period for closing the financial year)
The current fiscal year for the Company 'A' is from April to March. However, as per the above mentioned scenario it is required to have fiscal year from April to February.i.e. a shortened fiscal year.
Please note that Company 'A' is using the version 4.7.
Steps we have already proceeded with
    1. we created a Shortened fiscal year "Z1"from April to Feb 2010 (Monthly basis) wherein we have taken only 15 days for the month of Feb 2010.
    2. we have created an another Shortened fiscal year(weekly basis) wherein we have taken six weeks as posting period.
3.We assigned the Fiscal year Variant to the company code.
4.After assigning when we want to check the details of the assets in the Asset explorer AW01N.the system is reflecting an error "

    Dear All,

    2)  User doesnu2019t want to post the balance 3 months depre and they wants to carry forward for the next financial years continuously. But here the problem is before recalculate assets the difference is only 35 $, but after SAP suggested to Recalculate assets before depre run that is run AFAR then run AFAB they found that the amount is 31000+. Which canu2019t carry forward such a big amount?
Pls help us to resolve this issue.

Since you are on BPC 5.1, I don't believe you can take advantage of multiple hierarchies within the Time Dimension.  So, I would create a report rendering the information you need, with the columns being fixed using properties and EVTIM.  The values for the quarterly and yearly levels would be sums instead of retrievals from the database.

  • How to configure shortend fiscal year

    Hi friends
plz tell me configure of shortend fiscal year
    urgent

    Hello Kavitha,
Background- A shortened fiscal year results when you change from a normal fiscal year to a non-calendar fiscal year, or the other way around. This type of change might be necessary, for instance, if an enterprise becomes part of a new corporate group.
Features:The R/3 Financial Accounting component fully supports the use of shortened fiscal years. However, there are still some points to consider from the perspective of Asset Accounting when you use a shortened fiscal year.
Configuration: Define the length of the shortened fiscal year and the distribution of the periods in the shortened fiscal year. (Refer to  Shortened Fiscal Years).
Determine the rules for reducing depreciation for the individual depreciation types and depreciation areas. This is done in FI-AA Customizing: Valuation->Fiscal Year-> Shortened Fiscal Year).
If the current fiscal year was changed to a shortened fiscal year, start the program for recalculating depreciation (under Tools).
Hope I had beena ble to help you. please assign points.

  • Shorten fiscal year

    Dear gurus,
currently, our company would like to change the financial year end from FY2010 (jan- Dec) to (March to Feb). We are using FIAA and CO. Currently the controlling area code is accross companies. Now, we are in month of July 2010. Therefore, can i extend my period from 12 periods to 14 periods in SAP? i understand SAP has the feature of "shortening fiscal year". However, i would like to have details steps on it.
    Please helps.
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Kee Hwee, Lee

    Hi,
In SAP, the Shortening fiscal year stands for which fiscal year contains less than "12 posting periods" is called as a shortend fiscal year and it would suits to your requirement tentatively for 2 months (Jan and Feb).
But, how do you draw the balance sheet for the whole year for upcomming year?
In Generally, the shortend Fiscal Year would be used at the begining of the SAP use, the business go live is for few months rather than one full fiscal year.
I suggest you to go, to use the Leading and Non-Leading Ledger Concept for the same. So then, you can keep the fiscal year K0, K1, K2, K3, K4 (Any one - Jan to Dec) and create a new fiscal year for your requirement of March to Feb. You do get the reports for both the Fiscal Year Variance at once.

  • Fiscal year varient creation in BI

    Hi,
I ahve report where we have already fiscal year varient coming from R/3 it is V3 for specified periods like if i give
Fiscal year varient 007.2008 it will add all the last 6 month + this month value and disply on the screen now the client want to cahnge the pattern in BI only instead of 6-6 months they would like cumulate the value for 3-3-3-3 . Can anyone will give me an idea how to create the varient for Fical year only Bw  for this 3-3-3-3 values..
    Thanks

What you need to do is to create 4 RKFs
RKF 1 - is key figure + cmod date variable qtr1
RKF 2 - is key figure + cmod date variable qtr2
    etc..
I take it you are going put a selection of fiscal year into the report so
create 4 date variables all of user exits
    cmod date variable qtr1
    read the selection of year
concatenate year and 001 into date low
concatenate year and 003 into date high
    cmod date variable qtr2
    read the selection of year
concatenate year and 004 into date low
concatenate year and 006 into date high
    etc etc
You shoudl be able to code the ABAP yourself based on that info

  • Cost element creation: no fiscal year defined for given period

    Please advise.

    hi.........
    1. first check whether fiscal year variant assigned to company code and controlling area is same.
    2. check whether fiscal year variant is year dependent or not.

  • Open and Close periods/Fiscal years

    Dear All
We are in the process of FM-BCS implementation, we observed thre is transaction code (FMOPER) for open the Budget periods. This is working for Budget workbech (FBMM) only. But at the time of Actual Postings even period is not open in FMOPER system is allowing for actual postings.
Kindly suggest where we can control actual postings through period open/cose option in FM-BCS.
    Thanks in advance
    Rao

    Hi Rao,
You need to be aware of all the impact of the use of PBET (Period-Based Encumbrance Tracking) before activating it in transaction OF39. This is not a simple change, it impacts all your integrated postings that come from all other areas (FI, CO, MM, SD) into FM.
You cannot use any FM update date other than the POSTING date when PBET is active.
One common error when you activate PBET is FI_E050 - Posting date/period 00/00/0000 is earlier than existing
    date/period 00/00/0000.
If you want updating to take place on the delivery date, you must return profile to Fiscal Year Based (non-PBET) updating.
This step will also eliminate the error FI_E050.
Part of the basic PBET logic, aims at recording a detailed change history of every single document in FM.
For more details on this, please also refer to the program documentation  and chapter Public Sector Management -> Funds Management -> Recording Actual and Commitment Data -> Period-Based Encumbrance Tracking.
The standard functionality when PBET is active is to use the system date as the FM posting date. However, you do have 3 options to overwrite this:
    Document Creation:
    1.- Version Management (PR/PO)
2.- FM updating date is the document posting date.
    Document Change:
1.- System use FM_TRANS_DATE date as FM updatign date, if this date is not filled, system use system date as FM updating date.
If customer want to change this logic, the FM updating date is decided by one of the following three steps, in order shown.
    - Version Management (PR/PO): Posting date of version
    - Transaction FMOD to override the update date by user
    - Activate user exit EXIT_SAPLFMFA_004 so that a popup screen is
displayed that permits entering the FM posting date, you could
manually set the date found in the document header to a later date.
      - you could manually set the date found in the document header to a
    later date (System date  SY_DATUM).
PBET is Periodic-based encumbrance tracking and it is a function that monitors encumbrances per period, with a change record issued for each change made within a period. This function belongs to Funds Management Area (PSM-FM).
If PBET is active, system does not allow posting to a date earlier than the present date, you will receive error FI_E050 in case this is not satisfied. Follow are two comments form the code which indicate same:
"No new dates can be earlier than the original or new account assignment line items".
"Ensure that new fm update dates are not older than original date or if a change, this change must be latest date in document"
To use or not to use PBET is customer decision and this impact that the period is verified more strictly than without PBET. Maybe you should consider with your consultant if using PBET is the best solution for your business processes.
    Best Regards,
    Vanessa.

  • Q1: Secondary Index. Q2: Fiscal Year /Period

    Hi gurus,
I have two questions need your explain:
Q1: To improve the query performance I am going to create some secondary indexes on an ODS, I am wondering whether this action will remove the data from the ODS therefore I have to reset the data loading process and if these indexes can be maintained while data loading automatically ?
Q2: About fiscal year /period which technical name is 0fiscper. we know in sales order header, item also purchase order and billing ODS or CUBEs, FY/Period are existed in those models. but there are still some other dates e.g. delivery date, goods issue date, goods recieve date, document date, posting date and so on. So which date is used to generate FY/Period ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
1)The creation of index have no effect on the data stored and you need not delete or relaod the data.
System will adjust the index with every data load to the DSO automatically.
2)Fiscal year period depeneds upon the module from which you are using the data and you can tweak the logic for this suit your need.
If the data source is providing the fiscal period values then well and good.
If not then generally its mapped to those dates which are driving date of the query or the date which is going to be used by the user for the input selections in the report.
for example if you want sales based on the posting date in the reports and user just wnt sale till month and not date then.......you map posting date to fiscal period in the transformation and use them in the reporting.
This can vary too...there is no hard fast rule for what date it should be mapped...and it all depends upon the reporting requirement
The good design practise is to fill it with the same date which is filling calday and calmonth objects. This will keep granuarlty as same...but if you want some other selection in the report then you can map calday to some other date and fiscal period to some thing else.

  • Purchase order not appearing as commitment for next fiscal year in KOB2

    Hi Experts
Any help on this is highly appreciated. Our Fiscal year 2008 is ending on 27th september and fiscal year 2009 will start on 28th September.
We have some purchase orders created with delivery date as 30th september which falls into next fiscal year. Somehow these purchase orders are not appearing as commitments in KOB2 report even with data ranges for next fiscal year.
However we have many similar Purchase orders with delivery date in fiscal year 2008 with same internal order as account assignment and they are correctly appearing as commitments in KOB2 report.
Can you please let us know what could be the reason for purchase orders with delivery date as 30th september not appearing in KOB2 report.
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi Ashok
Thanks for your continued support on this. I was going through these notes today.
One observation I made was cost elements in our system were valid till 27th september only when problematic POs were created. However their validity was subsequently extended after the creation of Purchase orders. This might be the reason for system not recognising these POs as commitments.
SAP Note 534993 seems to suggest that we need to run report RKANBU01 for all such purchase orders to redetermine commitments.I am in the process of testing this out in our systems.
Could you please let me know if my understanding is correct. Thanks again.

    Santosh

  • Fiscal Year Not allowed while creating the Process order (COR1)

    Hi Friends,
My Indian client is following the Fiscal year of 2011 for the period of April 2010 to March 2011). We have gone live one month before. But now the problem we are facing is while creating the process order (T.Code COR1) system gives the error message "Fiscal year 2010 is not allowed".
    The Diagnosis shows as below
Fiscal year 2010 is not allowed
    Message no. F5568
    Diagnosis
The fiscal year entered (2010) is different from the fiscal year derived from the posting date and fiscal year variant (2011).
    System Response
    Error.
    Procedure
    Correct the fiscal year entered.
I have Checked the Controlling area version. Fiscal Year 2011 starts from 01.04.2010. This issue is only at the time of Process oder creation and not in other module like FI, MM, SD, PS, QM and PM. I have checked with V3 Variant also and there is no problem with that.
Can any one help me where the setting is missing or what whould be the probable reason for this issue.
    Regards,
    Deva

    Hi Prakash,
Thank you for your reply. I have checked the MMPV and MMRV set up and that is fine with fiscal year 2011. We are also processed lot many Material receipts for the fiscal year 2011. I have checked with OB52 for finace it is opened for the entire year of 2011 from 2009 for all periods.
We are facing only when we try to create the process order. When we enter the starte date as 24.11.2010 the derived period shows as fiscal year 2011. But entered fiscal year shows as 2010. We are not entering any other dates in the process order.
Is there any other probablity the date is picking from any Production related set ups??
The costing version fiscal year 2011 starts from 01.04.2010. So no problem with Controlling area. I have Checked the Factory calendar. The calendar starts from 01.01.2010 to 31.12.2010 for the year 2010.
Is there any other possibility of the missing settings or problem in date control???
    Regards,
    Deva

  • Fiscal year imp

    hi!
i have one queition , in fiscal year varient creation we enter periods,
and in year shift bar we enter also 0 or -1 or +1 can any one explain
about how can we using this with detail.
    thank u
    chinna

    Hi,
If your fiscal year matches with calendar year(Jan01-Dec31), then you dont play with year shift operator, it is 0.
But if your fiscal year doest matches calendar year,  then you use year shift operator and give values 0,-1 or +1 to make sure that all the periods/months belong to same fiscal year
Eg:If your fiscal year is from Apr01,2007-Mar 31,2008 and you want your fiscal year to be 2007, then you use year shift operator 0 for apr 2007-dec 2007 and -1 for jan 2008-mar 2008
If your fiscal year is from Apr01,2007-Mar 31,2008 and you want your fiscal year to be 2008, then you use year shift operator +1 for apr 2007-dec 2007 and 0 for jan 2008-mar 2008
    Hope that helps...
