Cross reference in Mapping

Hi SAP XI Experts,
Is there any kind of mapping solution for cross referencing the fields in SAP XI Mapping types.
for ex: If u have a structure as follows:
                                Source                                                 Target
Country = UK or United Kingdom -
> Nation/Country =
England.
                                        or England
Is it possible to map by giving the cross referencing the fields....
Thanks in Advance,
Sunil Shetty

Hi,
You can achieve this by using value mapping concept of XI.
You can use standard functions of type conversions and then select Fix Values.
In this table give entry;
eg: For country input value UK then give Nation value as England.
Enter input entries for as much values as u want and then use this Fix Value function in ur message mapping.
You can also use Value Mapping function of conversions.
This has to be filled up in ID.
thanks.

  • How to Maintain Surrogate Key Mapping (cross-reference) for Dimension Tables

    Hi,
What would be the best approach on ODI to implement the Surrogate Key Mapping Table on the STG layer according to Kimball's technique:
"Surrogate key mapping tables are designed to map natural keys from the disparate source systems to their master data warehouse surrogate key. Mapping tables are an efficient way to maintain surrogate keys in your data warehouse. These compact tables are designed for high-speed processing. Mapping tables contain only the most current value of a surrogate key— used to populate a dimension—and the natural key from the source system. Since the same dimension can have many sources, a mapping table contains a natural key column for each of its sources.
Mapping tables can be equally effective if they are stored in a database or on the file system. The advantage of using a database for mapping tables is that you can utilize the database sequence generator to create new surrogate keys. And also, when indexed properly, mapping tables in a database are very efficient during key value lookups."
We have a requirement to implement cross-reference mapping tables with Natural and Surrogate Keys for each dimension table. These mappings tables will be populated automatically (only inserts) during the E-LT execution, right after inserting into the dimension table.
Someone have any idea on how to implement this on ODI?
    Thanks,
    Danilo

    Hi,
first of all please avoid bolding something. After this according Kimball (if i remember well) is a 1:1 mapping, so no-surrogate key.
After that personally you could use Lookup Table
    http://www.odigurus.com/2012/02/lookup-transformation-using-odi.html
or make a simple outer join filtering by your "Active_Flag" column (remember that this filter need to be inside your outer join).

    Hello Archana,
It can be done with a Lookup call in a mapping.
Here's a little article about the topic in the SAP wiki:

  • TCS2 - FrameMaker Cross-reference formats completely ignored...

In RoboHelp I have changed all my cross-reference formats to <paratext>. However, this mapping seems to be completely ignored. What file drives these styles? I can run a template in FrameMaker to strip out the page numbers and autonumbers, but this setup should work in RoboHelp.
    Anyone having the same problem?
    Thanks,
    [email protected]

I think you need to use <$paratext> in the FM to RH mapping (via the edit button)

  • TCS2 - Cross References between linked Frame files not working

    Hi,
All the cross-references in my linked in FrameMaker 9 files work when output in PDF, however, when outputting WebHelp from RoboHelp 8, FrameMaker cross references that reference another FrameMaker file (i.e. not Current) do not work. The format is correct, they appear blue and underlined like every other link/cross-reference, but when moused over in the browser, there's no link to click.  The HTML created by RoboHelp does not point to a file.  For example, here's the HTML for one link not working as shown from within RoboHelp:
    <p class="FM_Bulleted"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7.0pt;">&#160;&#160;&#160;</span>•<span
         style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7.0pt;">&#160;&#160;&#160;</span><a><span
         class="FM_Link">Create Supported App from
    Install</span></a><span class="FM_Bold">.</span>
RoboHelp appears to partially convert the link as <span class="FM_Link"> appears in the HTML  but I think there should be more information in the <a> definition, such as in the HTML created for a link that references a topic created from the same FrameMaker file.
    <p class="FM_Bulleted"><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7.0pt;">&#160;&#160;&#160;</span>•<span
         style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7.0pt;">&#160;&#160;&#160;</span><a
         href="#XREF_17096_Creating_an">Creating an App</a></p>
I've ensured all the cross-references in each framemaker file in the book have the same format and are mapped to <$paratext> in the project settings. I've also tried importing the FrameMaker book instead of linking it and the same problem persists.
Any ideas on how to make RoboHelp create the link correctly?   Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Jacquie Finney

Most of the major cross reference issues have been resolved in TCS 2 with further improvements in TCS 3.
Please ensure that you have all the patches of TCS 2 installed on your system.
If the issue is still there, there could be an altogether different reason for cross reference not working or the issue might have been fixed in TCS 3.
The reason or workaround can be analysed once the sample files with the issues are provided.
It will be great if you could share a small sample FM document containing the cross reference and target having the issue. If the cross reference is across documents, then a FrameMaker book along with its FM files can be shared in a zip format.
You can mail the documents to me at magrawalATadobeDOTcom

  • Maintaining internal word cross references in word import

I'm using RoboHelp 9.0.1 trying to import Word 2007 (docx) in order to generate a WebHelp. I have adjusted my style mapping in order generate an appropriate TOC with books and matching sub chapters, which works fine. However, internal Word cross references from the original Word document are not transformed into hyperlinks.
I have already tried/verified the following:
    - The "convert cross references to hyperlink" option is checked in the RH-Word import settings.
    - I also tried fiddling with the Framemaker options as it is suggested in another thread (see beneath), with no success.
    - Within the Word source document I tried both options with "use hyperlinks instead" when creating cross references.
    - The RH-HTML source, in all of my attempts, does not show any links in the corresponding locations.
What may I be missing here? According to another, similar thread, the feature should work and is really not that challenging:
"RH9 - Can not create ANY links in linked Word documents"
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/854095?tstart=0

In my testing, I got a link in the RH topic, but it wanted to launch the target Word doc instead of jumping to the desired RH topic. I'd say this sounds like a bug - so go ahead and report it.

  • Converting cross references from Frame

I am importing my Frame files by reference in RoboHelp (using
Technical Communication Suite). I have mapped my "Heading &
Page" cross reference style to the <$paratext> building block
to drop the page numbers from the cross references. I cannot for
the life of me get these to import correctly. When I import the
chapters, the cross references still contain the page numbers. In
addition, they are not hyperlinks, as they are in Frame.
Double-clicking on the imported cross reference links does nothing.
I am desperate to get these to convert properly - I have 34
chapters to import from my user guide!!

Yes, I applied all of the patches and same problem.
What I did yesterday afternoon was to save the source FM file
as MIF and take a look at the markers. The cross reference markers
that were failing to move over had an \xod at the end. I posted in
the Framemaker forum and discovered that this was the hexadecimal
for a carriage return. As for why there would be a carriage return
at the end of some of my cross reference markers I have no idea and
I assure you it was not because I hit ENTER.
However, I have been having some success this morning in
deleting the cross reference markers and reinserting them. Of
course, this messes up all of the other cross reference pointers
throughout the book. It may be that if more than one cross
reference is made to a single source (e.g., the marker is used more
than once) the \xod appears. I am not yet sure. In between the
time-consuming and focus-grabbing Force Updates and the frequent
RoboHelp crashes during the Force Update process it takes some time
to discover. Framemaker never had a problem keeping track of my
    cross references \xod or no.
I still have the problem of two cross references right next
to each other causing a Fatal Error when I try to compile. So I
have to add some spurious word like "and" and it won't even let me
make this word white. So I basically have to rewrite my source
    document.
Any patches planned? Also, please consider an upgrade to the
server hosting this board: it is extremely unresponsive.
    Thank you,
    Z.

  • Word cross references not converting to hyperlinks

The cross references (i.e. {REF Welcome \h}) to bookmarks in
my Word document are not converting to hyperlinks in the HTML when
I have "Convert references into hyperlinks" checked when importing
the Word document (either in doc or docx format). This did work
with the older version Robohelp 5. Is there a setting I'm missing?
    Thank you!
    Pat

You said you've tried mapping styles.
I solved a similar situation. This involved a FrameMaker book imported by reference to RoboHelp. A cross reference to the paragraph style "Figure Title" was not getting converted.
I realized that in RoboHelp, I had mapped "Figure Title" to "None" or no output. (I do not want figure titles appearing in the online output, only in print).
Therefore, since the style was not mapped, the content was excluded and the cross reference did not get converted.
A different situation, but perhaps it can point you in the right direction.
Try changing the cross reference in FrameMaker to the next nearest heading, table title, or figure title. See if that makes a difference.
Make sure all the styles from each of your FrameMaker files is mapped to a RoboHelp style.

  • Cross references invisible space causing unwanted wrapping

I have a document where I have created an index of meticulously mapped the page numbers using cross references. However I have a massive problem where the cross references take up WAY more space than they should.
Have a look at the following screen shot:
Notice how the numbers could easily fit on one line, however they start wrapping way before they come in contact with the other side of the text frame.
This is very frustrating!!! Can anybody tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?
    Thanks.

This is very frustrating!!! Can anybody tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?
    No, and yes.
No, I have no idea why the normal paragraph composer does this. I've reported it as a bug in the past.
Yes, if you switch to the World-Ready Composer, the bug goes away - the WRC doesn't have this bug. Seems like the normal paragraph composer thinks of the variable as longer than it really is, while the WRC doesn't have this problem.

  • ODI : how to raise cross reference error before loading into Essbase?

Hi John .. if you read my post, I want to say that you impress me! really, thank for your blog.
    Today, my problem is :
    - I received a bad quality data file from ERP extract
    - I have cross reference table (Source ==> Target)
    - >> How to raise the error before loading into Essbase !
My Idea is the following, (first of all, I'm not sure if it is a good one, and also I meet issue to do it in ODI !)
    - Step 1 : make JOIN between data.txt and cross-reference Table ==> Create a table DATA_STEP1 in the ODISTAGING schema (the columns of DATA_STEP1 are the addition of columns of data.txt those of cross-references Tables (... there is more than 20 columns in my case)
    - Step 2 : Control if there is no NULL value in the Target Column (NULL means that the data.txt file contains value that are not defined in my cross reference Table) by using Filter ( Filter = Target_Account IS NULL or Target_Entity IS NULL or ...)
The result of this interface is send to reject.txt file - if reject.txt file is not empty then a mail is sent to the administrator
    - Step 3 : make the opposite : Filter NOT (Target_Account IS NULL or Target_Entity IS NULL ... ) ==> the result is sent in DATA_STEP3 Table
    - Step 4 : run properly the mapping : source : DATA_STEP3 (the clean and verified data !) with cross reference Tables and send data into Essbase - NORMALY, there is not rejected record !
My main problem is : what is the right IKM to send data into the DATA_STEP1, or DATA_STEP3 Table, which are Oracle Table in my ODISTAGING Schema ! I thy with IKM Oracle Incremental Update but I get error, and actually I don't need an update (which is time consumming), I just need an INSERT !
I'm just lookiing for an 'IKM SQL to Oracle" ....
    regards
    xavier

Thanks john : very speed !
I understood better now which IKM is useful.
I found other information about the error followup with ODI : http://blogs.oracle.com/dataintegration/2009/10/did_you_know_that_odi_generate.html
and I decided to activate Integrity Constorl in ODI :
    I load :
    - data.txt in ODITEMP.T_DATA
    - transco_account.csv in ODITEMP.T_TRANSCO_ACCOUNT
    - transco_entity.csv in ODITEMP.T_TRANSCO_ENTITY
    - and so on ...
    - Moreover I create integrity constraints between T_DATA and T_TRANSCO_ACCOUNT and T_TRANSCO_ENTITY ... so I expected that ODI will raise for me in E$_DATA (the error table) the bad records !
However I have one issue when loading data.txt into T_DATA because I have no ID or Primary Key ... I read in a training book that I could use a SEQUENCE ... I try but unsuccessful ... :-(
Is there another simple way to create a Primary Key automaticaly (T_DATA is in an oracle Schema of course) ?thanks in advance

  • Dreamweaver Site-wide Cross Reference

I'm sort of new to Dreamweaver and I use CS4.
I was asked to take over an existing web site and to maintain it.  It would be very helpful if I could produce a cross-reference to see where each class, for example, was used within the web site.
I would alos really like to get something that would produce a site map.  I understand taht was available in the older version.  Is there another alternative out there?
    Thanks,

The site I am looking at is a mess by any standards and I might have to start over, but I was asked to make some changes and not to rewrite. IN fact, I would loive to be able to create a site map becuase I think about 10 of the files in the site are active.
The reason want an Xref is that I think it would be helpful to know where a class was used within the site as opposed to being surprised by the changes it makes.  Since no Xref seems to be available, maybe I need to learn even more about CSS & Dreamweaver than I thought.
I will check out XENU and I appreciate your help.  Thanks.

  • Trouble with Cross-References

    FM11 / DITA 1.2
What could cause a particular cross reference to consistently NOT work? I know that's vague. I'll try to give a more specific example:
Let's say I have a collection of xrefs across several XML files in a DITA map. Some xrefs might even point to the same item (usually a <title> tag with an ID attribute). On output to a book with FM components, particular xrefs just will not work (they output as "unresolved"). I can fix it manually in the FM file, but I'd rather it work correctly in the first place, especially since I deal with translation in to several languages, and if I can't get an xref to just work, I have to fix it many, many times.
I've tried deleting the xref and starting again; I've tried changing the ID attribute in case there was some kind of conflict...I still have trouble with that particular xref (and this happens with more than one xref). What else can I try?
Again, I know this is vague. I'd be happy to elaborate on relevant points. I just don't currently have time to write a massive description and I want to get this question out.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ohnehosen...
Are you up to date on your FM11 patches? It's hard to say what could be causing this problem .. does sound strange.
While this shouldn't be the problem, you might try linking your xref to the container "topic" element (topic, concept, task, whatever is the immediate parent of the title you're pointing at). While in theory you should be able to xref to a title, that's not really the intent, your cross-ref is referencing a "topic" not the title within the topic. The same goes for a figure or table, you reference the fig or table element not the title within those elements.
I'd assume that the code in the FM-DITA plugin was designed to work by referencing the container ,it probably wasn't tested the way you're doing it, and there may be some flakiness that would cause this to not always work.
Give it a try .. let us know how it goes.

  • Cross Reference Source text options

Creating a Cross Reference linking to a Paragraph. In the paragraph where the cross-reference source is inserted, may the cross-reference link be applied to existing text in that paragraph so that the cross-reference destination text does not appear? Text anchors can be created to accomplish this, but that is an extra step (I can create a cross reference linking to a paragraph all in one dialog box). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi, Seir:
I agree that it's confusing. Here's how I do it:
To create a text anchor at the insertion point location:
    * Open the Hyperlinks/Cross-References panel's menu (also called "flyout menu." It's the small icon at the upper-right of the panel, below the double-arrow (>>) icon that collapses the panel.
    * Choose New Hyperlink Destination. THIS SHOULD BE NAMED NEW TEXT ANCHOR!!!
    * Choose Type: Text Anchor
    * Name the anchor as you like Click OK.
To create a cross-reference to a text anchor:
    * Place the insertion point where you want it.
    * Click the Create new Cross-Reference button on the bottom of the Hyperlinks/Cross-Reference panel.
    * Choose Link To: Text Anchor
    * Choose the target document
    * Choose the text anchor
    * Choose the Cross-Reference format
    * Choose Appearance properties
    * Click OK
I'm not sure what could cause the straight/curly quotes problem other than perhaps the font doesn't have curly quotes. Have you tried other fonts?

  • Display cross-references' linked documents filename in the xref panel

Our company creates technical manuals consisting of five chapters, all named the same, except with a different prefix. For example the "ABC Widget" manual has an introduction chapter named "ABC 1 - Introduction", a safety chapter named "ABC 2 - Safety", etc. Many times I re-use documents for creating subsequent manuals using the "Save As" command. So the "ABC 1 - Introduction" chapter would be saved as "EFG 1 - Introduction" for the "EFG Widget" book. For all the internal xrefs it saves a whole lot of time since all of the xrefs are preserved. But for cross-document references it creates a problem. For example, if the "ABC 1 - Introduction" chapter has a xref to "ABC 2 - Safety", when I save the Introduction chapter as "EFG 1 - Introduction" it will still retain the xref to "ABC 2 - Safety".
Right now, the only way to see if there are xrefs pointing to latent docs, is to check each one manually. If the xref panel displayed a column indicating the filename of the linked documents, I would be able to tell at a glance if that xref was pointing to the wrong document.
    Thank you.

    Hi Van,
I fear, I expressed myself not very clear. I try again.
We have DITA structured documents. However, lastest status often was saved in the FM document. The xml documents often are not representing the final status.
When I open the FM8 document in FM9 everything looks pretty good.
But: When I want to save the document as xml with FM9, I'm getting errors regarding the cross references.
The cross references which were created in FM8 - doesn't matter, if a valid xml document or a FM document - always look the same.
(BTW: I don't think that in structured documents cross references always refer to elemts with a unique ID.)
example from xml which was created with FM8:
    <xref href = "#id08B4A0R30E9" type = "fm:Chapter">"..."</xref>
the only difference in the FM document is that the element is called fm-xref there, as it's not an external url.
in FM9 those cross references are totally different.
example from xml which was created in FM9:
    <xref href = "#id08B4A0R30E9" class = "- topic/xref">"..."</xref>
When saving the FM documents with the cross references from the first example as xml in FM9 (we don't have FM8 anymore), I get an error that the attribute type is not defined.
When having a xml document that was last changed with FM8 and opening/ saving this with FM9, there is no error.
At the moment I do not know how to solve this issue.
And also I'm not sure weather the same problem might accour again with change from FM9 to FM10 or else.
It is a great effort to make new cross references just because we upgraded from FM8 to FM9. (And of course always at most inconvienent time.)
As we are thinking of upgrading to FM10, it would be good to know before, if there are any similar issues to expect.
Or if there is an fix for FM9 or FM10 to avoid this at all.
    Regards,
    Anna
