CSKA & CSKB Tables -Cost Element+ Controlling Area, Cost Element Category

I have few questions on Chart Of Accounts and Controlling Areas and CSKA(Cost elements (data dependent on chart of accounts)) and CSKB (Cost elements (data dependent on controlling area)) Tables--
1) One Chart Of Accounts has one or more Controlling Areas. Is there any situation where One Controlling Area contains many Chart Of Accounts.
2) CSKA Table contains all the Cost Elements under the Chart Of Accounts. So does all these Cost Elements appear under CSKB Table. Are there any Cost Elements which doesn't fall under any of the Controlling Area and only exists under Chart Of Accounts Level in CSKA Table.
3) In CSKB Table How do we know the corresponding Chart Of Accounts for the Cost Element.
4) In CSKB Table Cost Element Category depends on both Cost Element and Controlling Area. So does a Cost Element can be Primary Cost Element for one Controlling Area which happens to be GL Account and Secondary Cost Element for some controlling Areas.
5) Are there any Company Codes under the Chart Of Accounts which doesn't belong to any of the Controlling Area and doesn't have any Cost Elements.

Hi,
1) One Chart Of Accounts has one or more Controlling Areas. Is there any situation where One Controlling Area contains many Chart Of Accounts. Never
One controlling area can be assigned to many company codes, but all must have been assigned to the same chart of accounts only. This is the pre requisite for the so called cross company controlling
If some data exists in CSKA table, it mean that, it must have been created as a CE in any of the controlling area
3) In CSKB Table How do we know the corresponding Chart Of Accounts for the Cost Element.
In CSKB, you wont get the correspondant COA for the given controlling area. If you want to know it pass field value CSKB-KOKRS to table field TKA01-KTOPL to get the assigned COA
4) In CSKB Table Cost Element Category depends on both Cost Element and Controlling Area. So does a Cost Element can be Primary Cost Element for one Controlling Area which happens to be GL Account and Secondary Cost Element for some controlling Areas.
You cannot create a secondary cost elemant using a key matching with an GL code in cross company controlling. In case of both company codes assigned to different controlling areas this can be possible
5) Are there any Company Codes under the Chart Of Accounts which doesn't belong to any of the Controlling Area and doesn't have any Cost Elements.
Only In case of CO module is not active for the a company code
Note: If you have more queries, post it separately rather than asking all in one thread. and be specific with your requirement with the actual scenario.
Thanks,
Srinu

  • Tables for g/l account, cost element and cost grouping

    Hi Experts,
I am finding for a table which has g/l account against cost element.
Finally, I need to find their relevant cost grouping so that I know which g/l account is relevant to the cost group.
Which table can I find for these information?
    Please help!

    Hi
The Link between GL & Cost element is not required because GL Account No  = Cost element No
Cost Ele is stored in CSKA & CSKB Tables.. Cost ele groups are stored in Table SETLEAF

  • Compounding Controlling areas and Cost Centers

    Hi,
We have only one Controlling area value, say ZC11. I am looking at an InfoObject Master Data table for an InfoObject, and it seems that there are no differences in the records with the Controlling area and Cost Centers with those of blank Controlling areas and Cost Centers.
Is it necesary to define the compounded InfoObject of the Controlling Area to the Cost Centers in this case? I understand that compounding is for use if there are many different Controlling Areas for the same Cost Centers.
What would be the best approach on this?
    Thanks,
    RT

    Hi Bhanu,
May I ask what would be the core change of the SAP InfoObject? I would think that modeling wise, it would be beneficial to not compound if there was just one Controlling area.
I am actually uploading data and I am getting an error that lists the error "value Cost Center/Controlling Area/ Company code is not permitted for characteristics Company Code". I am sending only the value Cost Center but somehow it is looking for the Controlling Area. Should I be sending both the Controlling area and its correspdoning Cost Center?
    Thanks,
    RT

  • Cost object Controlling - Transaction KKBC_HOE

    Hello CO experts
Can anyone let me know or provide me the documentation for CO summarization report.
I defined hierarchy in the customization (SPRO) but it seems that it is not complete in all respects.
I always get "Hierarchy does not exist".
    Thanks and Regards
    Subbu

    Hello Jayaraman,
It seems that you are just missing the data collection step ( summarisation step), which is a prerequisite, before executing the summarised analysis report KKBC_HOE.
Till the time , data is not collected in the defined hierarchy, we keep on getting the message as   "  Summarized object does not exist :"
    The steps are
    1.  Define / Create summarisation hierarchy - KKR0 - I believe, you have already done this step.
    2.  Data Collection for the above summarisation - KKRC -  for required hierarchy / subhierarchy / period -  ( Menu path - Controlling - Product Cost Controlling - Cost Object Controlling  - Product Cost by Period  - Information System  - Tools  - Data Collection  - KKRC - For Summarization Hierarchy )
Request to test this for a specific material / period / order type initially , to avoid long run times, and once satisfied / successful, collect the full data by executing the job in background.
    3. Execute report KKBC_HOE
    Hope this helps.
Please do not forget to award full points, if satisfied and successful.
    Cheers

  • CJI3 Report - Balance in Controlling Area currency after settlement

    Hi Friends,
When I run CJI3 report for one of my projects, the system displays the actual costs in Controlling Area Currency and Object Currency. Controlling Area currency is USD and Object Currency is EUR. After settlement, for one of the cost elements, the CJI3 report shows 0 EUR actual costs balance under Object Currency and displays 19.5  USD actual costs balance under Controlling Area currency. This seems to be coming from PM05 order and the the posting dates are different.
Why there is balance shown in Controlling Area currency (USD) (may be due to exchange rate difference according to me..)?
How this issue can be resolved so that I can go ahead to close the project?
One more thing related to the same issue, when I run CN41 (Structure Overview0 report), it shows a difference actual costs balance (3201USD)? Why is it different from CJI3 report? Which report is correct?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Balakrishnan

you need to check two things -
are you settling the PM05 order to WBS before settling the WBS itself
    or
there seems to be another account to make provision for exchange rate fluctuation - check that out

  • 2 Controlling areas - Intercompany postings

    Hello Experts,
Our client is looking at the possibility of having more than One Controlling area and Chart of Accounts. Say for instance, the Production Plants are in different Controlling area and using different COA, whereas the Sales companies located in different countries having a Separate Controlling area and Chart of accounts.
I do certainly understand that the system will be very very complex. However, we would like to know if there would be any issues while doing Intercompany transactions like delivering from Production plants to Sales companies / Delivery directly to the customers located in sales company's country.
I came across some write ups saying Cross controlling area costing is not possible.. But would that restrict the Intercompany billing as well?
I do not understand this clearly. Can anyone please explain the Pros and Cons of following the above Org structure.
    Thanks
    Prasad

    Hi
I dont have any doc as such.. But, it will be the usual inter co billing scenario which I am sure, your SD guy would be aware of.. there is no spl process for your case..
In Inter co scenario, you have 2 choices
    1. To follow the sale-purchase route
    2. To use an inter company STO
in (1), you create SO in seling company and PO in purchasing company... Using IDOCS it can be automated... I am not detailing it here
    (1) is used when the Material No is not same in both the companies.... Another drawback of this is that you cannot see Stock in Transit when your goods have been despatched from A but have not reached B
    (2) is used when Mat No is same in both the companies... Adv is that you get to see stock in transit till the time B posts Goods receipt in his system
The no of transactions are also less in this case
I personally prefer (2)... Your SD/MM guys wud be aware of both.. I guess you should not worry on that front

There are basically two types of customers:
    1)Credit worthy
    2)Normal customers
Coming to credit worthy customers these customers we can believe and we will give some credit ness for them. For such a type of customers we are going to set them some credit limit.Based on that we will give service to them till that limit. It the limit crosses we will get the messages while creating orders for them.
Their credit limit can be set in FD32 T.Code.
Automatic credit check will be maintained in OVA8
    Follow these steps:
    1. Go to IMG - enterprise structure - definition - financial accounting - define credit control area.
    2. Assignment of company code to credit control area & sales area to credit control area.
    3. Go to OVAK select ur sales document type and in the check credit column choose from A B or C. D is for automatic credit control for which you have to maintain the credit group and risk categories.
    4. In FD32 you select your customer and click on STATUS icon and press enter. here u maintain the credit amount allowed. but this is done by the Finance people.
    5. Now when you create the sales order and if the amount exceeds the credit limit then u will get the message as you maintained in the TC OVAK.  Normally the system starts doing credit checks from the second sales.

What are the different types of credit checks?
    By Sunilmadho
    Credit Check can be :
    1) Simple Credit Check
    2) Automatic Credit Control
Automatic Credit Control can be at various levels :
    1) Order
    2) Delivery
    3) Goods Issue
Automatic Credit Check is of many types :
    1) Static
    2) Dynamic
    3) MaximumDocument Value
    4) Maximum Open Items in percentage
    5) Oldest Open Item in number of days
    6) Crtitical fields change
    7) Highest dunning level, etc.
    You can create more.
Credit Check happens only in SD module, never in FI. Because the stage of the check is in the sales cycle, which exists in SD. FI guys will check the credit master sheets of the customer, the MIS, the analysis etc, review the credit limits of customers. But the check will happen only in SD, while creating order, delivery or doing the goods issue.
All business have their own credit management needs, SAP allows you to specify your own automatic credit checks based on a variety of criteria.  You can also specify at which critical points in the sales and distribution cycle the system carries out these checks.

    7)Select the status tab.Press enter.
8)Maintain the credit limit in the field.Save.
9)Go to OVA8 T.Code and then click on open orde

  • Same Cost Element in multiple Controlling Areas

Can a same Cost Element under the Chart Of Accounts(CSKA) used in multiple controlling areas under the Chart Of Accounts or it should be used only by one Controlling Area. Then as Cost Element category is under CSKB (Cost elements (data dependent on controlling area)) it depends on Cost element and  controlling area. So can a Cost elemtnt in different controlling areas has different cost element category. Is that possible as in that case COst ELement becomes GL Account in one Controlling area and doesnt have GL Acvcount in another.

Yes.  Provided it's the same chart of accounts being used across all of the controlling areas.  In the case of primary cost elements, you will still need to individually create the equivalent G/L accounts in every applicable company though.

    Hi,
As process you should clear the down payment first and then vendor thry F-44.
It should not be asking you for default cost centre untill there is validation rule set.
    hope this helps you.

  • How to derive value on Controlling Area on Cost Element or any other entity

    Hi Experts,
I want to derive a value of 1000 on the controlling area when we create a cost element. I have tried DERIVE_CELEM  but it seems that Controlling area can only trigger Derivation on other fields once it is manually populated.
Any ideas if this could be possible?
    Thanks
    Riaan

    Hello Kaustubh
Just wanted to understand why you want to default the controlling area? Its a key field and changing it as attribute will have lot of issues.
One way you can try is to create a Change dummy CR and keep it in executable mode. User can copy the CR and create their own. Other ways is use the BRF+ and try to default the controlling area.
One more point, normally you have one or two controlling areas so I really don't see any need for changing the data model and do the coding for populating controlling area,

  • How to extend cost element to controlling area?

    Hello all,
I created a new cost element via FSP0 and then created cost element via KA01.
Now whwen I am trying to do cost center assignment in OKB9, it throws me error that cost center in controlling are not exit for today's date with error message KI217
I made sure the cose center's validity date cover's today, so why does it show me that error?
Do I need to extend the cost center for perticular controlling area? if yes than how acan I do it?
    Regards,

    Hi,
if you want to extend validity period for Cost centre - KS02  & for Cost element KA02 and select particular Cost centre & Cost element - go to edit in main menu - select Analysis Period - press F6 - and change valid period as per your requirement
but we can't change one controlling area to another controlling area ,
if you do not want use cost centre , cost element whatever already created - just go and Block/lock for posting
    Thanking you
    Regards
