CU50 difference in Engineering BOM cost and Sales BOM cost

Dear All,
I have material  BOM    M0001 --configurable...finished prodcuct (spe procuremt 52)
M2100-- confifurable --- Phontam (semi finished)
                                                       M8600---- configurable (semifinished) specP 52                                                       R7000---
                                                       R7000--non configurable material
                                                       R7000--non configurable
                                                       R7000-- non configurable.
Now in T-code Cu50  under configuration tab simulation
1.  when i am selecting Engineering Tab and then costing  tab   all materials are picked for Engineering BOM costing.
2. when i am selecting only costing tab (Sales).. then the material R7000--non configurable  qty 54
                                                                                R7000--non configurable  qty 27
                                                                                R7000-- non configurable. qty 18
are not costed.
What could be the reason for not picking the cost for the material R7000
                                                                                R7000
                                                                                R7000
Please help me..
Thanks in advance.
regards
janardhan

Hello Janardhan,
This is standard SAP behaviour. As per details given by you, it seems that material's consfiguration profile have settings of "Order BOM" and "multi-level" in CU43 transaction. So for such settings, system behaves differently for Engineering BOM and sales order cost estimates as given below.
1. Click on u201CEngineeringu201D Button and then click on u201CCalculationu201D  Button : System simulates the cost estimates through transaction CU51. And in CU51 BOM explosion for cost estimate is multilevel. So system will show all the components in the BOM of header material. So you will find all the components listed in Cost estimate simulation.
2. Directly click on u201CCalculationu201D  button : System simulates the cost estimates as it use to simulate in VA01 transaction. Becasue of this, there is NO BOM explosion till last level. System will only simulate the Cost estimate by exploding the BOM till 1st level. So system will show only 1st level BOM components. So you will find only 1st level BOM components listed.
So dont try to check anything in it, as its standard SAP behaviour.

Nachiket.

    Hello,
Sometimes this difference comes because of the selection period which we are choosing.
Try to run IW38 once with the help of Basic start and basic finish dates of the order.
And after that with the help of the period with the same dates range.
You will get the difference also.
the reason is that whenever any Posting is done in the previous month PM order the system changes the basic start date and when you select the current period and execute IW38 it shows the whole cost incurred on the order including all previous cost.
But in MCI8 it does not happen because MCI8 is run through LIS structures. And in this report only the current month cost will be shown by the system.
I hope you got the idea about differences.

  • Difference between the planned cost and the target cost

    Hello guys,
I am really confused between the planned cost and the target cost.As Per the sap help target cost is cost required to produce certain quantity of material. And planned cost even carry the same definition.
So is there any difference between these two cost. Are they same?

    Jitendra,
Genarally in CO we will define Target cost is getting calculated in the Production order based on the "Standard Cost Estimate" after GR. Planned costs are calculated based on the current costs.
    Example:
Assumption: Assembly Material A with Standard Price, Component B and Component C is maintained with Moving average
    Material A Cost 1EA = (component B = $10 + Component cost C = $20+ Activity Price $1) = $31, this is the standard cost estimate for the material.
Now I create a production order on 15th of the month, and the Moving average price for component is now $20 due to subsequent GR with higher price. Now the planned cost for the order would be (20201)=$41, whereas the Target cost would be still $31.
Hope I was able to clarify,

  • WBS planned cost in Sales order cost estimate

    HI Experts,
Can you please help me in below:
Will it be possible to include WBS planned cost in Sales order cost estimate.
    ETO Scenario
Creating Project and booking planned cost
Creating Sales order and assigned the WBS at line item level
WHen i do the sales order cost estimate it calculating cost from Sales order BOM includeing Chars value for KMAT.
I want to know if there is any way to include the WBS planned cost also in the sale order cost estimate.
    Can anyonce please provide inputs.
    Thanks,
    Sudha

    Hi Sudha
Are you saying the WBS Planned cost is in addition to the Sales Order cost estimate? Well, as far as I know, there is no such possibility
you can use Unit Costing feature in Req Class instead of Quantity Structure Based Costing... Then you can enter whatever items you want

  • Standard Cost and 'What if' cost

    Hi
Standard Cost and 'What if' cost
Please explain what is the difference between Standard Cost and 'What if' cost estimate.
Does anybody has the idea about 'What If' cost estimate.
    Raju

    Hi Venkat,
First of all there is no concept called What if cost in SAP.
I feel you might be talking about the simulation cost.
Simulation cost is a cost estimate done based on certain different parameters which may be different from standard cost.
For example, we may do simulation costing using Plan Version 11.  Normally we will be using Version 0 for standard cost.
Please let me know are you talking about the simulation costing or Cost Object planning.

  • BOM Usage and Sales order BOM

Can some one bring our the difference between BOM usage in the creation of a material bom and a Sales order BOM - To be more specific, when you are creating a BOM using the tcode cs01, I get a field called BOM usage where I can select it as 5 and define it as relevant to Sales and Distribution. I can also create a BOM which is Sales order specific using CS61 tcode. what is the difference between the two? When will the bom created using CS61 explode and when will the other one explode?
Thanks for your reply in advance....

    Hi
while using the material in each dept. the usage differs so for that sap provided this function. for sales bom is used only sales and also that material already exist in the plant. and mm bom the material has to procure from the some third party that all functionality will control throgh the maitaning bom usage.
further your explanation i give below info.
    Text
    BOM Usage
    Definition
This key defines the area (such as engineering/design or production) where a BOM can be used.
    Use
By setting various indicators, you can define the maximum configuration of the item status and define whether an item must be or cannot be processed in a particular area (such as production).
    Examples
A material is used in the areas production and costing in a company. For each area, you maintain a separate BOM with different items:
    Production BOM:
This BOM contains items that are relevant to production. These items are copied to the planned order. Dependent requirements are generated for them, and they are copied to the production order.
    Costing BOM:
This BOM contains items that are relevant to determining the material costs of a product.
When you calculate production costs using a quantity structure, the system automatically determines the BOM and all the BOM items that are relevant to costing, in order to calculate manufacturing costs.
pls find the config table which will give u clear picture about bom usage.

  • Cost of Sales BOM

    Hi SD Gurus,
Need to know how to calculate the cost of the sales BOM that I have created. When I create a sales order for the sales BOM, it explode all the components in the sales BOM. All of them have condition type VPRS which state the cost of the component but the actual FGD sales BOM does not have VPRS condition type in them. The item category for the sales BOM is customised as ZTAI, Banded without pricing.
I tried looking at the header and there is a VPRS conditon but it is for the whole order. The order may or may not include other sales order item that is a Sales BOM.
Am i missing something here. Pls help and points will be awarded. Thanks

    Hi all SD Gurus,
Thank you very much for the fast response.
I think my SD config person did not check the "determine cost" in VOV7 for that item category. Will ask him to do so but am interested in the below suggestion also.
at parent level, in which case all the sub-items pricing components are collated (totaled) into the parent item.
    Dear Kookie,
Can you advise how to perform the above also from a cost perspective, i.e. adding all the VPRS found in the sub items and adding them to the main item

  • Material with  item cat.group ERLA impact on costing and sales pricing

    Hello,
I would like to know if a material which is defined as item category group ERLA and which has two sub-items posted in the BOM with usage 5 with its respective std cost could  be calculated for costing or not?
Can I have some information about the impact on  costing and pricing in sales?
    Thanks in advance
    AB

No the material type should be a FG : it is relevant for sales reporting. For example I call it material "A". In the material master data within the sales screen the item category group ERLA is assigned to "A" . The material A is a grouping material with a sales BOM which contains some sub-items for example B and C which are picked and shipped together. The grouping material is not handled as stock material: only the sub-items are stocked and moved.
The customer could  only require the material A with its price and receive phisically the two sub-items with a unique package unit or with two separate ones.
In this scenario the FG with ERLA item could be estimated for standard cost or not?
    Thanks in advance
    Andrea

  • Flow material product cost to sales order cost and no explosion of structur

    Hello,
We have a business requirement - Business is currently performing product costing at material on monthly basis using quantity structure (with help of avaiable bom and routings). Material costing nicely gives the cost with clear split of material cost, labour cost, external cost etc. Then at sales order level we want to do the preliminary sales order costing. The reason for sales order planned costing is, we are performing result analysis revenue based by comparing planned cost. Business is saying, we already calculated the material cost, labour cost at the product level and same should be as it is transferred to the sales order planned cost and we just want to add the overheads.
The cost already calculated should directly pass to sales order and the order should not explode the BOMs again or try to find activity prices from routings. Then with the already available values of material, labour costs, system should only add the overheads via costing sheet.
The cost compenent structure exploded in material should be passed to sales order and not just the total cost.
There are several reasons I believe sap should not allow this behaviour. I seek your inputs to validate the same.

THIS SHOULD BE POSSIBLE WITH "TRANSFER STRATEGIES" - TCODE OKKM.
GO BY THE BELOW GIVEN PATH AND TRY.
READ IMG DOCUMENTATION FIRST, THEN TRY.

  • Pick & Pack and Sales BOM components

We have noticed that pick and pack will put sales BOM component items on the list even if all the component items are not available to complete the parent Sales Item. If we are not watchful, we can inadvertently ship a partial kit - i.e. ship only a left shoe if the right shoe to complete the pair happens not to be in stock.
Does anyone know of a way to ensure that pick and pack only allows/recommends complete Sales BOM's? Same issue exists for Deliveries.

    Hai!
    SP_Trans is a Stored Procedure.

  • COPA and Sales BOM

We create a sale order for a pack. The pack is created with sub-components A, B, C. When the sale order and the follow up documents (billing...) are created the sale BOM explodes and the attached sub components (A,B,C )are seen in the sale order. However only the quantity is displayed for each of the lower level components (A,B,C). The value is zero. The condition is attached only to the higher level component i.e.-pack. Thus the line item for the pack component has the qty and value.
There are no conditions attached to any lower level components (A,B,C).
We want to carry the document to CO-PA with quantity and value. The quantity needs to be the quantity of the sub components (A,B,C)
The value that needs to be carried to CO-PA is the value  for the pack component - apportioned to the sub components (A,B,C) in the ratio of the sub component quantity.
Any suggestions how this can be set up in SAP.
    Thanks....

    Hi,
Assign COGS condition type with COPA Value field in transaction KE4I.

  • Cross Selling and Sales BOMs as results

    Hello,
We are expanding our use of Cross Selling.  One of the requests is that cross selling return a list that includes items that are setup as Sales BOMs.
    For example:
    Cross selling is setup for:
    Sales Org/DC/Division/Material
    1000/01/01/ABC
    Alternate Materials
    AAA
    BBB
CCC - CCC has a BOM with usage 5 and when entered on an order normally, it expands to items CCA and CCB.
Create an order and enter material ABC
Cross Selling shows with the three options above.
Add a qty of 1 for material CCC and copy it to the order
Item CCC is copied to the order, with the correct item category but does not then have the subitems of CCA and CCB.
Is there a way to make the item added via cross selling explode the sales bom, or will this not work?  I know that BOM items cannot initiate cross selling, but wasn't aware it didn't work if it was a result of cross selling.  Thank you.

    Thank you for the response.
The item category is configured correctly, as the BOM does explode on the order correctly when entered manually, it only fails to add the sub-components when added as a result of the cross selling.  The note you specified is not applicable to our system, we are currently on 4.7 and not upgrading to ECC6 until this summer.

  • Issue with Formatted Search and Sales BOM

    Good afternoon,
One of our customers uses a Formatted Search on the Sales Order row to lookup the Project Code stored against the Item.
This works very well, except for when a Sales BOM is selected.  I assume the FS lookup is working correctly, but the screen is quickly refreshed to list all the component items related to the BOM.  This process appears to overwrite the contents of the Project field.
We wish to keep this functionality, but retain the FS lookup results in the Project column.  Could the order of the process be changed so that the BOM refresh occurs prior to the FS lookup.
    Thanks
