Custom Dictionaries/Spellcheck with spaces

I have a bit of a predicament. I have a list of 4,000 names. I have a 320 page book. I need a way to be able to verify that names are spelled correctly throughout the book. Now, I have all the names in a .txt file ready to import, but, when I import it, InDesign sees the space and imports both the first and last name as different words. I've tried both single and double quotes around the name thinking it might take it as a phrase. It does not.
Does anyone have any suggestions? The Index function really doesn't do me any good at this point because I need to compare spelling and find errors rather than index.

This is not going to be easy, because common names can be spelt in many ways (Ann, Anne, Laurence, Lawrence, Macintosh, McIntosh, Mackintosh) and many of them will be accepted by a standard spell check. A quick suggestion: use the FindChangeByList script. Set up a 'FindChangeList' file with unique numbers in the 'changeTo' bit. Quickly done in Excel - your names in one column, consecutive numbers in the next. You'd better add a prefix and/or suffix to the numbers so that it's easy to find them (and only them) again. For example, Aaron Aardvark would probably be no. 1, so in the column next to his name put 'z0001'. No. 2 would be 'z0002'. This will be list 1. List 2 the other way around: 'z0001' in the 'find' column, 'Aaron Aardvark' in the 'change' column. Use concatenation to put in the
invariable bits (like '{findWhat:"). Save the Excel sheets at tab-delimited text files. Run the FindChangeByList script using list 1 on a copy of your ID file. Properly spelt names will be converted to codes.
Now run a GREP search for all instances of two consecutive words with initial caps (GREP gurus please step in here). This bit will be largely manual, but there shouldn't be too many because all correctly spelt proper names will be excluded from the search. Correct any that you find misspelt. Then run FindChangeByList again using list 2 to convert codes back to names.

  • Adding Custom Breadcrumb for SharePoint 2013 Custom Master-Page With A Custom Separator.

    Hi All,
    I have successfully converted an HTML file to a SharePoint 2013 Custom Master-Page with relevant style sheets. But when I used within the SharePoint site I could not find the breadcrumb. So I want to know how to do that? For that breadcrumb I need a custom
    separator like an arrow like in the below.
    As you can see the separator is a custom built one. To have this custom separator in my HTML I have used the following code snippet.
    <div class="breadcrumb-desktop">
    <span class="breadcrumb-links"><a href="#">SharePoint Site Home</a></span>
    <span class="breadcrumb-links"><a href="#">Sub Link 01</a></span> Active Page
    </div>
    The styles are as like in the below.
    .breadcrumb-desktop {
    width: 100%;
    font-family: Arial;
    padding: 23px 0 40px;
    float: left;
    font-size: 0.75em;
    line-height: 1.25;
    .breadcrumb-desktop > span.breadcrumb-links:after {
    content: " \203A ";
    white-space: pre;
    I have tried the following code snippet within the SharePoint site as
    <!--MS:<asp:sitemappath runat="server" sitemapproviders="SPSiteMapProvider,SPXmlContentMapProvider" rendercurrentnodeaslink="false" hideinteriorrootnodes="true">-->
    <!--ME:</asp:sitemappath>-->
    But it did not display as I wanted.
    So how am I supposed to insert these to my Custom Master-Page's breadcrumb and style them? Please could someone help me to solve this?
    Thanks and regards,
    Chiranthaka

    Hi Chiranthaka,
    Please use the following code snippet in your html master page.
    <div class="CustomBreadcrumbs">
    You are here:
    <!--SPM:<SharePoint:AjaxDelta id="DeltaPlaceHolderPageTitleInTitleArea" runat="server">-->
    <!--SPM:<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="PlaceHolderTitleBreadcrumb" runat="server">-->
    <!--MS:<asp:sitemappath runat="server" sitemapproviders="SPSiteMapProvider,SPXmlContentMapProvider" rendercurrentnodeaslink="false" hideinteriorrootnodes="true">-->
    <!--ME:</asp:sitemappath>-->
    <!--SPM:</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>-->
    <!--SPM:</SharePoint:AjaxDelta>-->
    </div>

    We can also customize a breadcrumb control, then add it in master page.

  • How to create custom dictionaries in Adobe Reader

    I am trying to create a custom dictionary and use it in Adobe Reader.
    I found some information in a blog about the custom dictionary that is created and stored in the following location "C:\Users\PIN\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary\all\added.clam" and called added.clam.
    I am not sure if there is a way to edit the CLAM file or create a new one from scratch.
    When downloading the dictionary pack for multiple languages, is it one file or can one take one of them and modify it with a set of one’s own word and in-house acronyms so that it can be distributed to our in-house users.

    Thanks Pat.
    I want to create a custom dictionary that will support all our users when they access the “forms document” through Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
    The issues I am having is file names and location of the files.
    The default dictionary name under Custom Dictionaries has a .clam extension.
    Is there a way to edit this"?"
    Does it contain the index settings for all the other added.txt and excluded.txt dictionary files"?"
    The default location is under a user’s C:\Users\PIN\ AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Linguistics\Dictionaries\Adobe Custom Dictionary.
    This is buried under the users profile and we need to be able to update these files on all the users workstations prior to log on.
    This could be done by redirection of the new custom dictionary. What is the location of that setting in the registry"?"
    Is there is a way to append to the dictionary file so I do not come along an replace any setting that a user may have made to the dictionary"?"
    This would be done to the .clam or .txt file outside of the Adobe Reader application.
    What is the “All” setting in the dictionary"?"
    Does that imply the program will look through all the dictionaries.
    I am not finding a way to create a new dictionary name that would appear under the preferences\spelling\dictionaries list. Is there an Index file that would point to a newly created Dictionary folder"?"
    Being able to create a new entry and have it checked, and then directed to a new location, would allow the original dictionaries to work as is and also connect to this newly created and selected dictionary.
    This would alleviate some of the challenges mentioned above.
    Is there a way to configure this with the Adobe Customization wizard"?"
    I do not see the feature.

  • Deploying custom dictionaries to Office 365 users

    Hi All,
    We are currently in the process of migrating some of our user accounts to Office 365 during which we have discovered that once these account are migrated they are no longer using the organisations custom dictionary we deploy via group policy to
    all users. If we clear all of the values out of "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" and then add the dictionaries in as per the below article's instructions Word will use our custom dictionaries.
    However we want to avoid clearing all of the values out of "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" because this will mean that any custom dictionaries our users have manually added will be lost.
    (http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/12/16/deploying-a-custom-dictionary.aspx)
    Below is the result of GPP registry items we have in place to set custom dictionaries.
    However after Office 365 it appears users are logging into Office applications with their Organisational account and we're seeing the following registry changes and the custom dictionaries are
    no longer applied:
    If you add the registry items in the article to the above key once the users have migrated to office 365 it doesn't work.
    Any advice about how we can get our custom dictionary deployed to all of these users without wiping out all of their custom dictionaries would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Joe

    Hi,
    Since I don't have the exactly same environment, I suggest you try to manually transfer the user's dictionary, after the dictionary is added to Office 365 Application, check what changes have been made in the Registry settings, maybe this can let
    us know how to modify the registry keys to accomplish the migration.
    To transfer the custom dictionary, copy the custom dictionaries to your transfer location. If you've saved other custom dictionaries in different folders, copy them too.
    On the new Office, open Word -> FILE -> Options -> Proofing -> When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs -> Custom Dictionaries -> Click "Add" and browse to the dictionary file, open it. After the dictionary is added
    to the new Office install, check the registry settings under "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\1.0\Custom Dictionaries" to know what changes have been made to let it take effect.
    This method doesn't bring you to the direct solution but may be a way to find it.

    I've just installed zsh and did some minimal config and cd works, so try commenting out your config one by one until you find the culprit ... or wait for somebody who actually knows something about zsh :-)
    [karol@black ~]$ cat .zshrc
    # Lines configured by zsh-newuser-install
    HISTFILE=~/.histfile
    HISTSIZE=1000
    SAVEHIST=1000
    # End of lines configured by zsh-newuser-install
    # The following lines were added by compinstall
    zstyle :compinstall filename '/home/karol/.zshrc'
    autoload -Uz compinit
    compinit
    # End of lines added by compinstall
    Edit:
    # cd not select parent dir
    zstyle ':completion:*:cd:*' ignore-parents parent pwd
    What does it do?
    Edit 2: I can cd just fine using your config. (should have tried it earlier ...) The only difference is I'm not using the syntax highlighting
    source /home/dodo3773/.zsh/zsh-syntax-highlighting/zsh-syntax-highlighting.zsh
    because the path doesn't exist on my computer.

  • Bug in the copy cluster roles wizard - CSV reparse points cannot have names with spaces

    Hi All,
    I have identified a bug in the copy cluster roles wizard in 2012 R2, which is preventing me from migrating my clusters from 2008 R2 & 2012 to 2012 R2.
    The bug surfaces when you attempt to copy a VM role from a 2008 R2 or 2012 cluster that has a CSV reparse point name that contains spaces as follows:
    The role appears to copy across fine, but once you've migrated the CSV and brought it online followed by starting the VM, the VM configuration resource promptly fails along with the VM.
    The issue can be spotted inside the copy cluster roles wizard, where it presents itself by removing all text after the first space in the name to read "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV" rather than "C:\ClusterStorage\CSV
    Test Disk 3" as follows:
    The bug only appears for VMs on CSVs with a reparse point name containing spaces - all other scenarios succeed.
    After searching through the registry on the new cluster, you can clearly see that the VM role hasn't been correctly copied.
    It shows a value called SharedVolumeMappings with the data C:\ClusterStorage\CSV|<guid>|<integer>
    Whereas it should show the data C:\ClusterStorage\CSV Test Disk 3|<guid>|<integer>
    If you modify the data in the SharedVolumeMappings value in both
    0.Cluster\Resources\<VM guid> and Cluster\Resources\<VM guid> keys, the VM will start and work correctly.
    The problem for me is that I have many VMs on many different CSVs all with spaces in the names of the reparse point! Its not feasible for me to go through the registry for every copied VM on every node of the new cluster, as this would take a very long time
    and would be prone to errors that could cause further problems.
    Can anyone provide any help on this? A hotfix for the issue would be great, if anyone from Microsoft is reading :-)
    My deadline to get the VMs migrated to the new cluster is the 21st February, so I would really like to have a solution to the problem before then if at all possible.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Hi Subhasish,
    Thanks for the reply, glad that its something that is reproducible!
    Do you have any idea of timescale? Or is it likely that I will have to modify the registry as above to get this working?
    If I am going to have to modify the registry, please can you let me know if the resolution I have tested above is safe and viable? Or are there other settings that I will need to change to make the cluster fully aware of the proper path to the CSVs for its
    VMs?
    Also, is there a known procedure for renaming the reparse point whilst VMs are running on it? This would allow me to negate the issue before copying the roles to the new cluster :-)
    Thanks again,
    Tom

  • Problems with spaces in file or directory names and Word.exe

    Hi
    I'm trying to open a file with Word from my java aplication, and I have a problem with some file/directory names.
    I have this
    String cmd = "c:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office10\\WINWORD.EXE" + " " + path;
    try {
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
    } catch (Exception errorea){ }
    Here is what happens:
    if path is something like this: "c:\people\info.doc" , there's no problem, Word opens the document, but if path contains blank spaces somewhere, it doesn't work. For example:
    path = "c:\Documents and Settings\info.doc"
    path = "c:\Hi everybody\info.doc"
    path = "c:\tests\test results.doc"
    with the above examples it doesn't work :( Word tries to open "c:\Documents", "c:\Hi" or "c:\tests\test".
    Can anyone help? thanx a lot ! : )

    Hint: use the variant Runtime.exec(String[] args).
    Create a command array, with each token in a separate argument. The entire filename with spaces goes into one argument.

  • How to get my custom controller updated with the global custom controller?

    Hi all,
    I'm new to CRM Web UI and need some advice from the expert. Currently I'm working on component ICCMP_BT_DATES and noticed something weird with this component. When this component is first launch it display the dates of a service ticket correctly. However when I navigate to another screen, save a new ticket and back, the dates are not reflected. When I went in and debug the component, I noticed that the context is still tied to the previous ticket. I think the custom controller is not updated with the latest from the global custom controller.
    My question is how do I get my custom controller updated with the latest.
    Regards,
    Ricky

    You have to bind your custom controllers context node to the event NEW_FOCUS of the collection wrapper on the global custom controller.
    Best place to do this might be the CONNECT_NODES of the context of your custom controller.
    Get the global CuCo with GET_CUSTOM_CONTROLLER() and then the appropriate context node. Now:
    SET HANDLER yourMethod for lr_global_cuco->typed_context->thecontextnode->collection_wrapper activation iv_activate.
    Of course you have to implement a method similar to ON_NEW_FOCUS as it is on many other nodes.
    cheers Carsten

    It is Windows Phone 8.1 (runtime)
    I have some problem of binding custom user controll with list of data. I'll make it simple as I can.

    I need to transfer binded data (string) to custom controll.
    It is strange that if I do not use DataBind, it will work normally. Eg MyCustomControllParameter = "some string" (in my example 'BindingTextValue' property)

    If you use a built-in control rather than your custom control, does binding work? You should verify that first.

    HOMEDIR="/home/panos/Web Site"
    for file in $(find "$HOMEDIR" -type f)
    do
    if [ "$(dateDiff -d $(ls -lh "$file" | awk '{ print $6 }') "$(date +%F)")" -gt 30 ];
    then echo -e "File $file is $(dateDiff -d $(ls -lh "$file" | awk '{ print $6 }') "$(date +%F)") old\r" >> /home/panos/scripts/temp;
    fi
    done
    The dateDiff() function is defined earlier and the script works fine when I change the HOMEDIR variable to a path where there are no spaces in directory and file names. I have isolated the problem to the ls command, so a simpler code sample that also doesn't work correctly with path names with spaces is this:
    #!/bin/bash
    HOMEDIR="/home/panos/test dir"
    for file in $(find "$HOMEDIR" -type f)
    do
    ls -lh "$file"
    done
    TIA

    oops, brain fart. *flushes with embarrassment*
    -- Edit --
    BTW, for this kind of thing, I usually do something like:
    find "$HOMEDIR" -type f | while read file ; do something with "$file" ; done
    Or put those in an array:
    IFS=$'\n' ; files=($(find "$HOMEDIR" -type f)) ; unset IFS
    for file in "${files[@]}" ; do something with "$file" ; done
    The later method is useful when elements of "${files[@]}" will be used multiple times across the script.

  • Customer line items with balance carry forward no opening balance

    Hello FI Experts,
    We have ticket where the user is using a Z* Report for Customer line items with balance carry forward. In 31.01.2007 user has posted some legacy data, latter he was executing this Z* report then user can see the values posted on the same day (31.01.2007) as line items. But he was executing the report on 01.02.2007 then he was not able to see the line item as well as the values posted on 31.01.2007 as opening balance as on 01.02.2007. But if we run the report as on 01.01.2008 then we are able to see the values which are carry forwarded as opening balances. Did anyone have worked on this type of scenario?
    Requirement Here Is:  The values that have been posted on 31.03.2007 which are still open line items should get displayed as opening balance as on 01.02.2007.
    Thanks for helping on this issue.

    Hi,
      Any report will get data from Tables. Please check whether the table you have used to develop this report has opening balance.
    Balance will be carry forwarded only when you run the balance carry forward program. Check whether this was run for the date you have specified. This can be done in the year end.
    If you are checking in the middle of the year, then the balance will not be carry forwarded.
    Regards,
    B. Radhika.
