D2G Gingerbread Update - Touchscreen Issue

Hi all.  Ever since the 4.3.3 update, there is a portion of my touchscreen about 1/4" wide that won't respond.  With the phone upright it's on the right side, with the keyboard extended it's at the top.
It's driving me nuts, because I can't tap icons that appear there.  When driving I can't use the notification menu because I can't pull it down.  And I can't properly fill out webforms or navigate.
I've done the factory reset.  No difference.
Does anyone have any info on what might be causing this?

Same issue here the right side of my touchscreen is out of comission also. I went to verizon and my options were to buy a used phone, buy a new device at full price because I am not available for upgrade till October. Oh yeah my third option was use my old phone if i still had it. It seems to me that this is more than just individual user issues. It is pretty sad that there seems to be no one that actually is listening to these complaints. Where the hell has customer service gone in this country was that outsourced as well? Is there a way to take that ** "upgrade" off of my phone it was working fine before. Maybe I will "Netflix" Verizon as well when my contract is up. I never had any problems with them prior to this. I will file a complaint with them and see where that gets me. I was even willing to sign a new contract and was told i couldn't do that either. I have looked on the internet about this issue as well and it seems as if there are WAY MORE folks having the same EXACT problems with their Droid2 as well.

  • D2G Gingerbread Update??????

I love my droid 2 global but I really think that gingerbread is going to be much better on it than froyo is. So I'm hoping that verizon/motorola will soon come out with an update (though I'm sure the droid x and incredibe will get updates before d2g and its not going to help that verizon is going to be preoccupied with the release of the Iphone and the new 4g phones). Also I've decided that as soon as I'm due an upgrade I'm changing to htc. Sorry moto you make great hardwear but I think I will like sense way better than this semi-motoblur thing.

From my experiences with Gingerbread, it's honestly not that big of a jump from Froyo, mostly some minor UI changes that may even be overriden by MOTOBlur.  I believe there are some speed and battery life adjustments made as well, but probably nothing really noticeable.

  • Gingerbread update - Bluetooth no longer working in car

I have seen people complaining about this issue on other forums - lots of phone models and car models are affected.  My bluetooth was wworking perfectly for hands-free calling prior to the Gingerbread update.  Bluetooth stopped working the day I received my Gingerbread update last week.  I've tried everything I can try.  Apparently there is no resolution to the issue yet.  Verizon tech support could not help - they told me to contact HTC.  HTC tech support had no clue.  I want to revert back to Froyo, but apparently that's not possible either.  I am VERY frustrated.  I loved Android, but bluetooth in my car is a very important feature for me.  Might be time for an iPhone...
If anyone has any solutions for this issue, please let me know.  By the way, I have read in other forums that a factory reset does not work - it keeps the same phone software.  It's something that changed in Gingerbread that is causing the problem.  I would love to get rid of Gingerbread.

    Smitty,
I don't have Gingerbread (yet, and I'm thinking that's a good thing at this point), but I've had the same problem with my DInc before with my 7 week old new car.  After an initial successful link-up and upload of my phone book, my phone wouldn't maintain a connection either.
Here's my suggestion for you, because It's my current work around to get my bluetooth connection to work:
    1) Unpair your car bluetooth and your phone so you can start from scratch
    2) Re-pair your DInc and your car
    3) When your phone connects to your car, you'll hopefully get a pop-up dialogue box on your phone asking to link to your phone book.  At this point, say no to the phone book link.  You *should* hopefully have a good bluetooth connection now, and you'll still have the ability to dial from your phone book.  If you don't get the pop-up, well...I'm out of ideas.  Sorry.
I don't know what capability that pop-up dialogue box on the phone supports, but it sure screws up my bluetooth connection in my car.

  • Someone please clarify some things for me about this Gingerbread update.

Alright... Someone please help me with some information. I hate to sound like I'm living under a rock, but I'm confused about this update I keep hearing about. How do I know which update I have? A couple months ago, maybe, I was just tinkering with my settings and selected "about phone" and it said there was an update available, so I downloaded it, and it changed the appearance of my home screen and different other things, but my phone worked just as good as it did before, so that is all that I noticed about it, that it looked different and I liked it, so I was happy with it. A couple of weeks ago I started having problems out of the blue with my multi-touch keyboard. I googled this forum and made an acct and someone named Cody was helping another user with the same problem, which was selecting space while texting and it taking away the keyboard leaving you to select the text space again, only to hit space and have it go away again, which forced me to use periods after every word so I could avoid hitting space. Anyway, he said to turn word prediction off. It worked for the guy he was helping, and it worked for me as well. I was happy and thought everything was back to normal. Well, a few days later I noticed that while texting if I hit the period symbol, exclamation point, question mark, or any other symbol or punctuation mark, it freezes what I pressed on my keyboard and the keyboard will not go away. I can exit out of text messaging, and get back to my home screen however the keyboard is still frozen on the screen with the symbol pressed down. Also I have an issue with my camera flashing on and off when I am trying to take a picture, and it will not let me snap a shot. I push the buttom down to auto focus and it just flashes on and off on the camera screen, the flash will sporatically come on and off and it's just all shot out, just out of the blue. I went into settings for my text msging and just unchecked everything, to see if that would help. I wrote 2 msgs using punctuation purposely and had no problems. But, my camera still will not work. Is this all because of this update that I downloaded? I just see a lot of people complaining about Gingerbread update and I don't even know what I have. I also had no clue that it's a good idea to reset your phone before or after an update. I didn't do this. I just updated my phone. Will it do any good now to reset it to its original state? I don't understand that at all because it would seem like if I reset the phone to factory.... wouldn't that take away the update that I downloaded anyway? I'm so confused someone please set me straight! Sorry for the long post but really I am just trying to understand what's going on with my phone. Thanks for any advice/help.

    Welcome to the forum.
OK, as far as which version you have, it sounds like you got Gingerbread. If you go into About Phone, GB is Android version 2.3.3 and the System Version is 4.5.596....
As far as the Keyboard issue, many have had success by turing off the word prediction, as I mentioned. Others have not. Some have had luck by first doing a Clear Caceh procedure (see below). The next step after that is a Full factory reset (which is what Verizon will likely have you do if you get them involved).  Personally, I have yet to need to do the Factory Reset - others have and even go as far as recommend it..  So I would start with Clear Cache and see if that helps. If not, do a Search for "In and Out of Factory Reset" using the search feature above. You really need to undertsand it before blindly jumping into it. Good luck.
    Wiping cache partition
    Power off
    Power On Holding Home Key
When Andy with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
Wait for it to finish and select reboot system

  • Touchscreen issue since IOS 5.1

Is anyone else having problems with the touchscreen since installing IOS 5.1? It seems like the calibration is off.
I am also unable to install apps. Ive tried restoring and soft resets but nothing seems to work.
Am I the only one? or does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks

Sorry -- no fixes for you but I, too, am experiencing this problem with my iPod Touch 4th gen. I even did a restore and reinstall from iTunes to see if there had been in installation issue (I had an installation issue over wi-fi where the Apple logo appeared with an empty progress bar for most of an hour). After a couple of re-boots it finally kicked in but with the touchscreen issue.  The restore didn't resolve anything. Kinda got a gut feel like the updates for the Ipad 3 screen resolution is what is causing the problem on the small screen of the iPhone/iPod. My iPad 1 isn't having any issues. I don't know if my wife's iPod is problematic or not. Both her iPad 1 and iPod 4 were updated last weekend but haven't heard any reports.

  • Should Verizon provide a roll back option from the gingerbread update?

Simple and straightforward. Do you believe That verizon should provide a rollback option from the gingerbread update?
    My vote would be Yes.
    Here is some reasons why
1 First and foremost the update should not have been forced.
2 When making significant changes to the operating system like gingerbread has Motorola should have the decency to contact Droid owners And inform them of the changes they attend to make.
3 The update wasn't really necessary.
4 ethically I believe that verizon should provide a roll back option.
5 regardless of what the fine print says in the contract just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is ethical to do.

Talk about beating a dead horse.......
I was President of the GB Sux Club after it came out. At least a dozen bugs and glitches were created after I installed it.
    But, you know what?
In the weeks that have followed, as apps have been updating (you should check the Market for available updates if you don't have them set to auto), and I check daily, something interesting has happened.
Most of the bugs and glitches have mysteriously gone away.
Is/was GB the "problem"? It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't the problem.
After GB, my phone did and does bizarre things from time to time that makes me wonder how they could be caused by a conflict the O.S. is having with a 3rd party app.
    The 3G dropping issue notwithstanding.
There are some issues, yes. But, I contend apps are the main "problem".
Can going back to Froyo (if it were possible) do more harm than good, if 3rd party apps are updated for GB? That's above my pay grade.
I did a reset after GB and it solved nothing. I defiantly refused to un-install all apps, or reboot in Safe Mode.
I did NOTHING but let the developers update their apps and right now, my phone is largely bug and glitch free, again.
In politics, there was the saying, "It's the economy, stupid". In Android, "It's the apps, stupid". (Not speaking to anyone in this forum).
Yes, the evil empire has it right when it comes to the stranglehold they have on which apps are allowed on their tiny iphones.
But, you know what? If, OEMs did the same, the Android experience wouldn't be the frustrating situation it is at times, ESPECIALLY after EACH update.
    In my opinion.

  • Oct 22 Gingerbread update

where's DROID CHARGE 2.3.5 GB update this is ridiculous already this phone has so many issues n u do nothing about it! WHERE is GB? my phone reboots 20 times a day :'( and dies so quick!!! I just called Verizon rep n she said that they are freezing the charge from exhange cuss Verizon doesn't wanna deal with the droid charge anymore n thinks of it as a loss cause n profit and wants all to waste our money on the new nexus this Is what the rep said n he sounded honest! !

They are not freezing the Charge because they do not want to deal with it. I posted the information below on the other Gingerbread update thread, they are freezing it because they are getting ready to roll out Gingerbread and believe that the update will fix many of the problems that people are having.
I went to my local Verizon store today to have my Droid Charge replaced due to some issues I've been having with it recently. I was told by the employee there that I could not have my phone swapped out because they have just issued a freeze on swapping out the Charge due to pushing Gingerbread out, and that it should be out by no later than the end of the month. Being one of the lucky ones that got caught up in the Fascinate update debacle, I take this with a grain of salt, but the thing that keeps me hopeful is the fact that Verizon won't let you switch your phone out. I don't see them doing this unless the update is imminent, otherwise there would be a major backlash. The employee promised that the issues I was having (phone freezing, not recognizing SIM card at times, and losing network coverage) would be resolved with Gingerbread, so I just needed to be patient a little while longer. I question whether or not the update will fix my problems, but I will give it a shot. Thought everyone might find this info useful/promising!

  • ARRGGGG Gingerbread update - Phone keeps turning off!!!

All was well until I updated to Gingerbread. Now my phone either turns itself off and restarts or goes into a black sceen which can only be recovered by removing the battery or while in the middle of a conversation I will get the Verizon startup jingle playing in my ear ....I never lose the call but I can no longer hear the other person though they can hear me saying "Hello? Hello? Hello?".....Grrrrr Verizon/Samsung
And I'm almost positive that Verizon's solution will be to reset the phone to the factory settings, which quite honestly is a pain and instead up feeling like you have upgraded, you feel that you've taken a step backwards....losing information and having to reinstall your apps.....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I love being a beta tester!!!!

Thanks everyone for your feedback after the Gingerbread update. Since there are several people having this same issue, I would like to submit feedback to our product team for this issue. Can you please send me a PM with your MEID, software & baseband version, and how often this happens? Those can be found in Settings>About phone. I only need a few examples, so just the people that have already posted in the forum please PM me. Once we have a product issue submitted, our product team will work with Samsung to duplicate then resolve this issue.
    Thank you,

  • FSCM via WS-RM (without PI ) - Update termination issue

    Hello experts .
We are trying to integrate SD with FSCM ( credit management) using WS-RM (without PI).
Details of the issue and steps followed so far.
    Ideal Scenario :
Once we create / change a sales order ( in SD ) , the interface Creditworthinessquery_out (WS Consumer ) gets triggered (in SD) and the subsequent response CREDITWORTHINESSQUERY_IN(Provider) is triggered from FSCM (with the details of creditworthiness).Once the query response in received an notification is triggered from SD to FSCM (asynchronous service).
After receiving the query response the functionality of credit check happens while creating / changing the sales order .
    Configuration steps followed in SOAMANAGER
We have created end points for all the relevant service interfaces (Providers) , and also created logical ports for the respective consumers.
During the creation of logical ports - for the consumers we used the WSDL (of the providers) as the inbound message action.
(This has been done to all the services query , notification that are relevant in our integration).
    Current behavior / issue .
While creating sales order the sales order is not getting saved (getting updated in the database).System allows us to complete the sales order creation process and also we get a message as sales order saved successfully. But then there is a update terminated express document that pops up. Sales order is not getting updated in the database.
When I see the logs/traces in SOAMANAGER I see that the query out is successful , query in has the right response (in warning state though) . But no notification is being triggered ?? 
How to overcome this update termination issue ?
When we see the SM13 log , it points to SLD issue (LCR 010: Internal error in SLD API). why do we need a SLD without PI

    Hi  ,
Finally we are able to solve the update termination issue . But again we are using a work around .
    Situation :
Once we executed the VA01 transaction we were getting update termination issue . After lots of debuggung we found that system was trying to get the Business system details ( Own business system data ) . The table lcrt_clntcache had no values.
    Solution
We inserted appropriate values in the Table LCRT_CLNTCACH (business system data ) and now it works .This is a work around we got as of now.Credit checks are happening successfully and also integration is good .
(typically if we define business system in SLD (PI) , and run SLD_CHECK , this table gets populated , but in our case we are not using PI instead we are using WS-RM)
But now few questions arise .
    a) Why do we need a business system in case we are not using PI ( typically we define business system and technical system in PI )  and instead using WS-RM ?
    b) Is it a good practice to update the table ( as did in workaround above )?
    c) Is this any bug and needs to be consulted with SAP ?
Please let me know your views .

  • Taken Aback- touchscreen issue

I have enjoyed and supported this company's products and services for some time. So, today when I inquired with tech support about my touchscreen issue (non working band of the screen ..the 456 area on the dialpad)...I was taken aback at the very least that I should send my phone in for repair and then PAY for a loaner. hmmm..I just paid 700 for a phone that is now handicapped two months later by what seems to be a common issue, accourding to the forums, and I should fork over some more $$$? Principle alone may make me dust off my Blackberry.

these kind of comments are just besides the point. there is a degree of company loyalty that is ok, but this is a clear shortcoming of Apple's understanding of the mobile market. I am a huge Apple fan (have had Macs for more than 20 years, I had a Newton, and now the iPhone), but I have also had about 30 mobile phones over the last 15 or so years. And I have to say that I have never had a phone before that broke, that needed repair. Or that broke just by falling down (that is what happened to my iphone, one fall out of 1.5 feet and the screen is cracked). What Apple has to understand is that the mobile phone market is not the computer market. Phones have to work and have to survive some everyday punishments, otherwise they are just nice looking but otherwise useless devices. Just take a look at Palms and Blackberrys, the thing about them is that they work, just like Nokias and in the past Ericsson's.

Thanks to all the community members for your input.
Hello Awhoward, adding to what Wildman stated, you would need to have the HTC Incredible device activated in order to have access to the update. This is because this update is available on our network and is the recommended method for obtaining a software update. Also, updates are pushed out to the phone when the become available. You can log into My Verizon under the account owner and do the equipment change to have the HTC Incredible device on the line that has the HTC Thunderbolt on it. Afterwards, please use this link to the instructions on how to complete the software update. If you want, you can change back over to the HTC Thunderbolt and activate the SIM Card. I hope this helps.

  • Muse update installation issues

I have a monthly subscription to Muse and everytime I try to install the latest updates Ihave issues. When I try to install directly from MUSE it tells me to check my network connection - which is always fine. I have tried pausing my virus protection etc. I then try to get help from customer support and the fxes do not appear to work etiher. I haveuninstalled and reinstalled etc with no luck -any suggestions

Try disabling any firewall or antivirus application and re-try updating, also try a different network connection. If that doesn't help, please uninstall and use the following direct download links to install Muse fresh.

  • Very Strange Touchscreen Issue

I recieved and activated my new 8GB iPhone about two days ago and it worked great up until just a few hours ago. I am experiencing the known issue of the bottom 1/2 inch or so of the touchscreen not responding to my touch, which in turn is affecting a lot of main elements of the phone such as SMS, e-mail, iPod, etc. Among that issue, I also encountered a very strange occurrence whilst I was testing the 'dead zone' on my iPhone: Certain sections of the dead zone work if I hover my finger about 2 -3 centimeters from the screen. It is a very strange thing but true, lol. I can even capture video footage of this if it's necessary.
Since I bought my iPhone from an AT&T store, should I return it to them for a new one on the spot or should I do it through Apple? I hope it doesn't come down to the latter since I do not live anywhere near an Apple Store (New Orleans, LA) and I just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T so I'd really hate to purchase a cheap temporary phone while my iPhone is being replaced/fixed.
Edit: Have a Merry Christmas, everyone!
    Message was edited by: Fiyerstorm

I just talked to Apple Support and they are going to repair it for me, it's just I need to wait til Friday since I am broke from Christmas! Once I get paid, then I can dish out the 30 dollars to get a rental iPhone to hold me over. The restore temporarily fixed the touchscreen issue since it happened again hours later.
Also, nobody I know who would have a spare AT&T phone doesn't come to mind so I can't just borrow a phone and start the repair process now, but the wait isn't too bad. At least they do not limit the iPhone rental to just physical Apple Store customers!
Thanks for the help, folks. :V
