Delete only "Recovered Messages", if any.
Hold the option key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
    Select "Library" from the dropdown.
    Library > Mail > V2 > Mailboxes
    Delete "Recovered Messages", if any.
    Empty Trash. Restart.

  • I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through internet connection. When I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear. Setting are for remove from server when moved from Inbox. Any idea what I can do to actually delete them?

I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through regular internet connection. Lately, when I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear, downloaded anew from the server and marked as unread. My e-mail Advanced Settings are selected for "Remove from server when moved from Inbox." Even when I access the e-mail accountfrom my desktop and delete the e-mails, the re-appear on my iPad. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to actually delete them?

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

Yeah not a problem. It does seem though that if you did not have a Time Machine backup then you may not be able to recover the deleted folder :/ But for future reference to prevent any of this, a Time Machine backup is a great investment.
What it does is create an entire backup of your computer anything from personal information down to the screen saver.
What you first need is a new external hard drive (I would recommend a 1TB or higher just to prevent running out of space soon).
after that, just plug in the drive to your computer.
once it is plugged in, in the top right hand corner, close to the wi-fi symbol, you should see a symbol that looks like a clock with a backwards arrow around it.
click on that and select "open time machine preferences"
just turn the button to the "on" position, and select the backup drive and Time Machine does the rest
    very great tool

  • How do you disable the shortcut key in Mail that deletes all mail in the trash folder

Is there a way to disable the shortcut key in Mail in Mountain Lion that deletes all mail in the Trash folder in all accounts: <shift><command><delete> ?
I did it once by mistake and it deleted all my trash - it is very difficult to restore when there are thousands of messages in various emaiil accounts.
    Thanks

While you can't (so far as I know) remove it - you can assign a different (& less likely to be used accidentally) one via System Preferences - Keyboard - Shortcuts.
Go there, create a new one (or 2) for Mail only, and give it the exact name(s) if the menu item(s) in question, capitalisation & ... included.
Below is on 10.6, but the idea's the same

  • Something wrong with my email it keep eat up my hard drive.  how can i get into the system and delete the mail folder

how can I delete the mail folder in the hard drive.. it keep redownload the emails and eat up my hard drive

If you have your mail set up as an IMAP account, then it will download everything that is in your Inbox (on the online site/server) again and again. You can move your emails to another folder online after you've read them or you can also delete them online after you've saved the ones you want to keep.
If you have your mail set up as a POP account, emails are downloaded once and then reside on your hard drive; you can indicate in Mail Preferences > Accounts if you want the messages online deleted immediately or after one week, etc.

How do I clean up mail in my icloud?  I have already deleted old mail (from all my e-mail accounts) on all devices, and emptied the junk & deleted files, but it still shows that I am at max on my icloud. What do I do to free up space? (photos & apps do not take up that much room).  When I go to manage storage on any device & it will display how much room each program or app is using, it still shows that my e-mail is taking up the most room.  Is there a way to actually log on to the icloud server to manage what it stored there?  If so, how do I do it?  Also, on a related subject,  why does my mail not sync accross all devices?   ie. when I delete an email on one device, why do I still see it on all my other devices?  How can I change this?
I have an iphone5, ipad2, ipod 4th gen, ipod 3rd gen, all running on my same apple id - but I have a PC not a Mac home computer - is this part of the problem?  Looking to upgrade to a Mac sometime this year...
    Thank-you for the help!

I do have the Time Capsule and spoke to Apple Care here in Sydney about it yesterday.  They told me my mail is not backed up there unless I create a special folder. I just tried ringing them again but Apple Care is closed today...
Mail is backed up automatically. If you make backups automatically, open Mail application and then, open the Time Machine app (in /Applications/Utilities). You will access to the Time Machine interface, and you will be able to see all your mails of all the backups you have, and you will be able to restore them. It means that your mails are backed up onto the Time Capsule

  • Mail app will not open at all. I cannot even delete a mail account.  Wondering if daylight savings time has caused an issue.

When I click on the mail app it either immediately crashes and brings me back to the home screen or it opens briefly and tried to download all previous emails and crashes in the middle.  When I try to delete a mail account it says it can't because it is syncing.  I closed mail using the double click (which only shows a black white box) and I have rebooted three times.  The time changed today.  Could it be a bug?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How to delete all mails with one klick?

It's annoying to delete every single mail.
How to delete all mails with one klick, like in the paperbasket?
    Thanks

If the emails have been previously deleted (I.e. in the trash folder), tap Edit at the top of the list. You should see a delete all button at the bottom. If the messages are in a standard folder, they need to be handled one at a time.

  • TS3992 on iPad: How can I delete my Mail storage from my iCloud backup?

on iPad: How can I delete my Mail storage from my iCloud backup?

Did anyone ever provide a resolution, because I am having the same problem.
My iCloud backup said yesterday that over 500 MB was being used by the Mail portion of the backup. So I went into iCloud.com, deleted all of the mail in my Sent Mail folder, then emptied the trash entirely. When I did that, it got worse; it said that 1.2 GB of the iCloud backup was taken up by the Mail backup. That doesn't make any sense. That is actually the opposite of what was supposed to happen.
Today, it is back to saying that Mail takes up 609.4 MB of space in the backup, but there is next-to-nothing in any of my iCloud email folders. What is going on?
Any suggestions you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

  • I've deleted my Mail app. How to get it back?

    Hi,
I have somehow, by accident (I have no idea how) deleted my Mail app. It is not in my applications folder and I cannot find it in spotlight. Is there somewhere I can download it or will I have to reinstall OS X, which would be a horror?
Any help is very welcome. Thanks!

    Hello,
With Tiger, you need only to do a custom install. See:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301229
then after this custom install run the Combo Update to ensure that Mail is then compatible with your OS version. If you are only using 10.4.8, then you will need to search for the Combo that only takes you to that level. The first one you will find will be for 10.4.9, however.

  • IPad Pop3 email deleting from mail server even though set to NEVER

    Hello.
We are experiencing a most strange behaviour with our e-mail.  We use a web host and access e-mail through POP3.
Two of our users are experiencing similar problems, and this is how their lives are setup:
    1) Outlook 2010, set to remove e-mail from server once downloaded, however, we are manually polling to receive e-mails at will, rather than periodically.
    2) iPad 2 3G - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
    3) iPhone 5 (ios 6) - Set to delete e-mails from server "never".
One of the users is receiving e-mails to their iPad, but not to either of the other two devices, sometimes to the two i-devices but not t Outlook, and sometimes to all three.  Occasionally, they are not receiving e-mails at all.
I have talked to our web host, and in all instances and testing we have done with them, they can see e-mails received, and deleted from the server. However, their logs cannot tell us anymore than that.
    Here's the scenario:
    1) Send an e-mail.  Check the web host e-mail interface and can see the e-mail has arrived in the user's inbox.
    2) Open e-mail on iPad.  Receive e-mail.  Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present, and it is.
    3) Hit send/receive in Outlook 2010.  E-mail not received in Outlook 2010.  Refresh webmail to see if e-mail is still present.  It is not.
So from all indications, it looks like doing a send/receive in Outlook is deleting the message from the server, but it is not being received in outlook.  I should note here that we have done extensive searches to check if the e-mail was received into some other folder, and have setup a search folder of all e-mails received today, just to make sure we weren't missing anything. The e-mails are indeed never reaching Outlook.
If we hit send/receive in Outlook 2010 after we receive the e-mail on the iPad AND HAVE CLOSED THE E-MAIL APP on the IPAD, then we DO receive the e-mail into Outlook 2010, and it disappears from the server.
This would leave me to guess that POP3 is trying to latch on to the e-mail on the server from both the iPad and Outlook 2010 at the same time and is failing, but Outlook is deleting the message from the server before it can actually download it because iPad has POP3 locked.
Anyone have any experience with this?  Any way to stop it from happening?

    Was this ever resolved?

  • Why do I have to delete a mail message three times?

I've been meaning to ask about this for some time, so the problem is not new, but whenever I want to delete a mail from the inbox, I delete it, then I have to delete it from the Mail trash, then I have to delete it a third time from Mail- On My Mac.
I don't mind deleting twice, I understand that messages get moved into a trash folder (and it's good that they're there in case you need to reference them occasionally), but i'd really like to not have to delete the third time.
    Thanks
    Bruce

Why would it go to On my mac?do you have a rule setup so it redirects your mail from inbox to some folder residing in your On my mac?

  • Photos are not deleted from "recently deleted" folder after 30 days

    Hello-
I tried to sync my iPhone 6 today, and iTunes read that there were 2500 pictures stored on my device (nearly double what I actually have). I did some searching online and I found that if I change the date of my phone back 1 month (to Feb. 15), all of the photos that were supposed to have been deleted from the "recently deleted" photos folder had reappeared. I manually went back through and deleted the photos that had reappeared in my recently deleted folder from every month since I got my phone (Oct. '14), and then iTunes said I was back down to 1400 pictures.
Why hadn't the pictures deleted after 30 days like they were supposed to? How can I rectify this?
    Thanks,
    Carson

    Thanks for your quick answers!
I realized that I didn't select the option 'enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account', but, even selecting it, the junk mails are not automatically cleaned. I tried restarting Thunderbird, restarting the computer, and even manually changing the date and restarting Thunderbird, but nothing worked.
I checked the entries in the advanced configuration, and they are all correct.
My aim, as it was with the other problem I posted, is just to help to improve the development of Thunderbird by pointing the bugs. But they are actually really minor issues and not a real problem for me. So don't worry if the problem is not finally solved.
    And thanks again!

  • Mail - Deletion of Mail e-mails

Trying to delete a number of e-mails using delete icon; the e-mails initally clear but on re-use find that the deleted e-mails are still present on the system. Any ideas on how to delete deleted e-mails!!!

    Shootist007 wrote:
If it is an IMAP account Apple Mac Mail doesn't delete those emails from the providers servers (IMHO this is a Bug in Mail) so they just keep showiing up as they are still on the server. you need to go into the Webmail section of your provider and manually delete them in webmail.
Gmail does that with its "All Mail" folder, label, black hole, or whatever you want to call it.
There is a setting in the Web interface allowing you to actually delete what you deleted.
You can adjust the settings of what happens with trashed emails in the Prefs.
