Device Central and Dreamweaver

Hello,
Can I use Device Central with Dreamweaver 8? Also, can i use
itr to develop (either in DW 8 or CS 3) WAP site withoiut using
Flash, or does the site needs to use Flash?

Device Central only works with DW CS3 (not DW 8 or earlier).
You don't need to use Flash to use Device Central. You can make a
WML page in DW CS3 and then preview it with Device Central. Here
are the steps:
In DW CS3, choose File > New > Other > WML.
The WML file will only display in DW's code view.
Enter some text between the <card> tags.
Save the file and then choose File > Preview in Browser
> Device Central.
The WML code displays in the selected phone emulator.

Hi, I have a question.
(Quick explanation) I have dreamweaver cs6, I created an android app, a run the emulator and everything seems to be ok with the app, I download the .apk and everything ok so far, but when i wanted to upload it to Google Play i need to sign it, but I search all the web somehow to sign it and i did not find anything to sign an app made with dreamweaver and Phonegap, just those made with Eclipse.
My question:
Is there anyway to export driectly from Dreamweaver to Eclipse as a project? so i can export it and sign it...
if Not, How can i convert those html files made with dreamweaver to Eclipse files, so I can use Eclipse to sign and generate the keystore file
or, How can I generate a keystore file to sign an app made with Dreamweaver?

Device Central on Dreamweaver 4.0

The Device Central utility in Dreamweaver 4.0 appears to only emulate website appearance on smart phones. Is there a way to set it so that it emulates tablet computers? I'm particularly interested in Samsung and Amazon tablets.

Here is a tutorial on Device Central CS4.
It shows the correct way to download new devices.
But here is what I notice: Device Cental CS3 (the last version I had before CS5.5) does not seem to be able to download any new profiles beyond some really old devices. There is no iPhone, iPad or Samsung Galaxy. Device Central CS3 also crashes frequently on startup.
I have never used it. Websites I'm building for certain devices also have to work on regular browsers, so I will test on my iPhone 4 and my iPad, but my main target is my browser.
I also have JavaScript in several of my websites that dynamically reformats a website for mobile devices. Device Central doesn't seem to be able to show that. So reality™ may be better than Device Central anyway.

How to uninstall old versions of CS3, CS4, CS5 of Bridge, Device Central, and Extension Manager

I want to delete the old versions of these files, but Adobe says I need to use the installers in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers, but there are no relevant files in that folder. Any ideas on how to do this properly on a Mac.

That is correct Dancingjewel. Migrating/transferring/copying Adobe applications is not supported and often leads to unexpected behavior. To resolve this you will want to attempt to completely remove the current installations utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool and then reinstall. If you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available at Other downloads.

CS5 Device Central and Trial

I was wondering (because someone hinted that it might be so) does the CS5 device central installed with the Flash CS5 trial expire with Flash after 30days, and then require you active it or flash to use it; or can you continue using it.

Any update? Can I actually use CS5 Device Central to view pages with media:handheld stylesheets like I used to be able to in previous versions? Everything is a useless Flash player view.

Forms central and dreamweaver CS6 - trouble with contact form

So I'm a noob. I created a simple one-column layout in DW CS6 and cannot seem to get this Forms Central contact form template to align correctly. I'm sure it is something simple (CSS related). Any help would be appreciated. It is inserted in the beginning of the body tag - here take a look.

Hi,
Try to insert the embed code inside one of your <div> tags say the div-content tag after your <p>..</p> tags.
The embed code should work inside <div> ... </div> tags according to the layout defined there.

Preview in device central not working

Running Dreamweaver CS5 on mac and when designing the site and i click preview in device central, nothing happens, nothing loads up, it's like it just doesn't work

I just looked in the libary folder for device central and found that there isn't anything listed in there, i'm gonna do a re-install
okay i uninstalled dreamweaver and installed it again and it still doesn't work

Creation of flash file from Device Central failing

Hi,
I'm currently trying to create a new flash document from Device Central and the application is throwing the following error:
Cannot create new document. The xfl template document is either missing or corrupted.
I am also unable to test my flash files in Device Central via Test Movie.
This function was working fine until a couple of days ago.
Has anyone had any similar issues? I am running Master Collection CS5.5 for Mac.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

For anyone who has this problem in the future, I have managed to get it working again by doing a complete reinstall of Master Collection.

Device Central won't work for any Apple devices

I know I probably have a setting wrong somewhere, but I've Googled this to no avail.
I have a flash file and I'm trying to view it in the iPad emulator in Device Central. I have it as a project, Flash Player 10 & 10.1, ActionScript 3.0, but when I click Control -> Test Movie -> In Device Central, and choose iPad, iPhone 3GS, or iPhone 4 profiles created by Adobe, it says that "The file type is not supported on this device!"
I'm sure I'm exporting it wrong or something but I can't figure out what settings I'm supposed to be using. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Amber,
That is because the devices you mentioned do not support Flash and also have not been profiled to support Flash emulation.

Removed unneeded languages - now can't run Device Central?

Hi there,
I can't run Device Central at all - I get the following error (attached as image)
I suspect this is because I removed some unneeded languages using Monolingual.
Surely if I'm developing for the English-speaking market, DC shouldn't fail to start at all because I don't have Thai script, for example.
Urgent help required as I now have a mobile project to complete!

Some quick additional notes.
I'm running Mac OSX 10.4
I have DC CS3 and DC CS4, the first from a Photoshop Elements install I believe and the second from Flash CS4, my main workspace.
I've just tried running the CS3 version of Device Central and this seems to work fine.
But obviously I'd like to run the CS4 version for it's new features, for better integration with Flash, etc.

Was Device Central removed? Is there an alternative?

I use to use Device Central to test artwork from AI to see how it might display on a phone. It appears Device Central has been removed from CS6. Is there some other alternative? Is it accessible some other way?

f(euphamish)ing technology. Beautiful promotion of growth and wealth of mind to the student’s like me, that spend the thousands of dollars to
eventually come back to a program that doesn’t even exist anymore. Adobe reciprocates mediocrity by charging us a ton of money while vomiting

Device central 5.5 keep crashing.. why?

once device centraol 5.5 started, i clicked "Connect to online library".. a dialog appear.. "loading 0-799" .. then suddenly it crashes and simply close the program..
Please advise .. how to fix it.. need to do some testing via flash cs5.5
On the same machine, i have installed device central 4, and could see the online library perfectly. But i cant use Device central 4 to test Flash cs5.5 work.

Hi Nandi,
tried the following but still same result.. crash and close app while updating
1. delete cs5.5 and copy cs4 directory
2. copy cs4 and rename as cs5.5
3. delete cs5.5, start device central, and copy device directory and device.txt from cs4 over to new cs5.5
I notice, cs4, device.txt show 129 .. but cs5.5 device.txt show 299. And in both method 2 and 3.. the device.txt automatically updates to 299 once i start apps.
If you have a cs5.5 directory that is working, maybe can send over as a zip.. I try to extract and try to load the apps.

IPhone in Device Central

In Adobe Device Central in Dreamweaver 5.5 there is an iPhone simulator. I see there is a grey band at the bottom that is for the buttons. But in my web app I don't want that buttons. Is there to see the simulator without that band?

The most reliable method is to use the Apple iPhone SDK, as I have found the other emulators are not accurate. For example, they display Flash content...
