Displaying test step and results

While running a test stand sequence, what
I want to do is have a window that displays certain items. During my
sequence I would like to have a window that is updated any time I want
something displayed. Example: I want to tell the user that a voltage
measurement has been taken and its value. So I would tell this window
the step name and the voltage measured so the user can see what is
happening during the test. Or, I want to display the status of the
major subsequences so the user sees the test is running. I would
tell this window the subsequence name and the status. Each time
something is displayed in this window the list should be appended so
the user can scroll back in time to see the status of everything. The
window should stay on top and not be closed until its told either
programatically and/or a button. Also each new UUT should clear the
window. This could be a labview vi or a cvi function or something in
teststand. I tried using a postUImessage method and it works but it is
not very informative or visible. This would be perfect if it would run
in a larger window with a scoll box that gets updated. An example
program or sequence would be great. I will take what ever I can get.

another way is to customize the operator interface, and using the "PostUIMessage" functions inside the test.
I give you the c files of the CVI operator interface, customized for displaying in the lower window.
The modified files are "exedisp.c" and "engine.c".

Step status, number of steps and result container

Hi All.
I have several problems with my OI.
1. I am using my own execution viewer, its build up on UIMessages, that is executed from my custom step types as a poststeprun. The problem is that when poststeprun is executed then the status expression is not executed. I can see one solution, that is to evaluate the status myself in the routine that writes to the OI. I think this is not a good solution, because it takes time, and status expression will do exactly the same afterwards. So any other ideas ?
2. Is there any way that I can count how many steps there is in my seq, this number should be used to "count down" in a progressbar on the OI.
3. How do I "enable" more variables to be included in the result container, I have my own "test result container" that I want to be included in the normal result cluster, so I afterwards can get the results in the processmodel. I tried to build something in SeqFilePostStep, but the problem is that this is called after every step... so you need a lot of controlling to take care of while and for loops.....

Due to the execution order within a step's execution a post step substep will be called directly after the code module itself has run.
You could evaluate the status as part of the step if you wanted, or you could move to using a post step callback in the sequence, then you could get a handle to the step, and in theory (I've not tried this) use the step's adapter to get to the adapter API and find out the path to a custom substep (rather than a post step substep) and run this, thus giving you a generic method of calling into the step after the status is resolved.
Counting the number of steps in a sequence is part of the sequence object (such as runstate.sequence) where you can call a method (use an activex/COM adapter to call an action step) and call the method GetNumSteps (this is based per step group, so run it out 3 times)
There are a few methods of including more variables into the resultlist - try looking at the AddExtraResult method of the Execution object, used in the process model sequencefile (from the sequential model, go to the test uuts entry point, and open the sequence call setup result settings (8 or so down in the main step group). That calls into the ModelSupport.seq and the Setup Result Settings sequence. In there are two pre-conditioned action steps that say if there is a property of the step called "x" then add it to the step result element in the resultlist array and call it "res x".

Is there a possibility to create online test within a learning net or learning object. I am able to create a test element within leaning net, but test elements are not interactive and the test answers and results are not stored. Where as if I create an online test, it is not attached/related with the leaning net. kindly help

Display test result before post action

Hi,
I have a test sequence file that is constructed as when test failed, in Post Action, it will jump to a sub-sequence. And, what I found out is that the result status for that test step in the executation pane was not displayed until after the sub-sequence finished executing (the test steps for sub-sequence was not hided from the operator). I want to know if there is a way that I can modify the TestStand so that the test step result can be displayed in the execution pane before test step go into Post Action?

I wonder if performing an Engine.PostUIMessage using UIMsg_RefreshWindows to force a refresh of the UI windows would do the trick.

My iPhone 4 fails to restore. Using iTunes, at step 3 of 4, displays "Restarting Sync" and goes to step 1 of 4, and then forever.

It all started with a blank screen on a frozen iPhone. Doing the sleep and home button reset seemd to solve the problem, but then the apple logo started to show in the middle of calls, and finally, mail, camera, facebook and pulse apps failed to start, returning to the home screen after a few seconds. So it looked like a restore with ITunes was the solution. I was able to back up the iPhone. The restore process sems to start fine, but the process cycles forever, at step 3 of 4, display "Restarting Sync" and goes again. It seems it can´t pass from step 3.
I have tried doing the restore from recovery mode with the same result. IOS is 6 and ITunes is 10.7.
An interesting thing, is that as I kiled the restore process and disconnected the iPhone from the USB cable connected at the Mac Book and then used the phone as "Normal" it seemed that all the data and settings where restored, but not the apps; camera and mail keep failing to start, but the interesting thing is that the battery drains very quickly, in a matter of 4 hours.
Any suggestions or ideas will be very welcomed.

Try Recovery Mode:
1. Start iTunes.
2. Plug phone into a USB port on the computer, not an external hub or keyboard port.
3. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes detects the phone in Recovery Mode.
4. Follow the prompts to restore.
If recovery mode doesn't work, you likely have a hardware problem that needs service/replacement

If your subsequence is in a separate sequencefile, then check the properties of the sequencefile to make sure that the record has not been disabled.

I understand the charter on this is to "check-in" once every time the program is turned on, and then once every 6 hours after that, or, once every 24 hours presumably. But the phone-home-effect is over-stepping these basic parameters. If a user turns their browser off and then on, Firefox is still obligated to "check-in" even if it just checked in 3 minutes prior. If the coding is not pre-designed to overstep, or act excessively in a redundant focus, the instance of once every six hours or once every 24 hours, is still overmuch if a user has been doing this (non-voluntarily-participating) for 9 months or longer.

How do you add totaltime for all test steps in the report

We are using xml reporting with the horizontal.xsl. I see the totaltime property in the xml file. I was able to un-comment some code in the stylesheet to display the module time for pass/fail steps. I would prefer to see totaltime for every step.
Alternative is to write some Labview code to extract test step name and associated times from the xml.

If you can able to understand the Horizontal xsl, it is very easy to get show the available fields in the XML in the Report. Through LabVIEW also it is possible to extract the required
Fields from the XML, you have to design an XML Parser in the LabVIEW to
parse the Step Name and it's time

sample) can able to parse the Test Step Names, give the Report XML file
Path as input, it will parse Step Names.
What makes me unclear is, how can you use LabVIEW to show the total time?

Hp Photosmart C6180 display is blank and no lights

Hp photosmart C6180 display is blank and the console lights do not light up.
windows 7 64bit, 12 gig i7 3400 2-60gb ssd,raid 0 ,3 sata 6 drives ,dvd
i was having color issues not printing,magenta will not print,new cartridges tried, cleaned through hp software,still no difference.
Unplugged printer to move to desk, code came up improper shut down,would not respond to any input from panel or pc through software.
unplugged and let it set for 3 minutes plugged in again restarted screen came up and froze in the default ready to print screen. console would not respond to any inputs even the power button.
Unplugged again using the attempted the hard reset as mentioned on the community boards holding the power button.
Printer started no display,ran a print job no problem, color picture no problem, no magenta still but it did print from pc. Console has no lights on. power button will not respond.
Tried the # 6 button hold unplugg and replug routine.nothing same results.
dismantled the side to unplug the logic board and remove cmos battery and let it set for an hour. reinstalled noting that none of the capacitors looked bulged anywhere on the board.
Plugged power supply in lights up at connector, plug into printer ,no lights after a few seconds the printer goes into self test and sits there no display ,no lights on. Tried to print diagnostics, printed everything but magenta band of color , software shows no problems.
aside from taking the printer apart and using boiling hot water to clean the magenta print head circuit, what happened to the display? what can i do now with out spending more thanthan this is worth? i have some technical skills so time is not a problem.
i do have a new email address as well so please let me know in this forum, i will change default address asap.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the hardware has failed. I can't recommend any other solutions that you haven't already tried. The next step would be to service or replace your printer.

Failed Test Steps reported multiple times in Report

Running Multiple Numeric Limit Tests in a for loop, and when a test step fails, the result is reoprted multiple times in the report (sometimes repeated as many as 5 times for one failure). Thought it had something to do with the fact that it was a multiple numeric limit test, but each test only checks 2 limits. Also, sometimes the result appears indented in the report, almost like TestStand thinks it is starting a new section, in the middle of a test. Any ideas? Please advise.

I executed the attached sequence file which has Multiple Numeric Limit Test with 2 limits in a for loop and generated ATML 5.0 report using tr5_horizontal stylesheet to display. The results appeared as expected in the report with failures shown for each iteration in the loop.

Advice on constructing a test engine and formatting a spreadsheet test file to perform command line interface testing on a range of products through telnet or serial interface and output pass/fail results.

If I understand correctly, you want to do the following:
1. Create one or more tab-delimited files that specify a series of query strings (that LabVIEW will send to your products) and expected reply strings (that LabVIEW will look for in response to each query)
2. Run your LabVIEW program (the test engine) and have it execute one or more test scripts from file using either TCP/IP or serial communication to your units under test
3. Track how many of the queries are met with the expected response, and output an indication of whether each step passed or failed
If this is close to correct, then I've attached a sample test file and LabVIEW VI as an example; I chose the TCP/telnet method because it allowed me to use the ni.com Web site to simulate my tes
t hardware. If you happen to own the LabVIEW Internet Toolkit, there's a VI called "Telnet Play Script" in the Telnet palette that does something fairly similar using TCP. The same general model would also work for Serial communications.

Random test questions quiz results not working

I have a project with random test questions. It's published in HTML5...Each time I play the project in preview, the test results are accurate and correct at the end...However after I have published the project to my site, all the random test questions are NOT accurately scored in at the end of the quiz...It's tells me basically I got all the questions wrong, when in fact the on each questions my display is clearly stating it's correct.
If I move the question out of the random test questions and back into the main project...it is scored correctly, but once it's back in the "pools" area, it is scored incorrectly in the final tally as a random test question...Don't have a clue why this is...it's really been time consuming trying to fix it...and my fortune so far fixing anything to do with Captivate is really low! Buggy! I'm using Captivate 8, so have no idea...
Anyone have any idea what is going on?

It would appear that the only way to adjust the pause is to add time to the
slide as I am unable to slide the pause back. But changing the slide of 3
secs to 3.1 does work.
Is there an easy way to do this for ALL slides or do I just have to do it
one by one.

InDesign CC Step and repeat user friendliness

With the Step and Repeat function in InDesign:
Currently when you enter a value in any of the three boxes (count/vertical/horizontal) and the value results in the objects not fitting on the page, you'll receive immediate feedback in the form of a pop up error box:
Cannot add objects beyond the bounds of the pasteboard. Please decrease the offset distance or reduce the number of duplicates.
You then have to click OK, or press enter to acknowledge.
It would be a lot more desirable for any error message to display only at the end of the process—AFTER you've click the Step and Repeat OK button.
It's extremely irritating to get regular warnings while you're trying to typing in the values, especially when you use step and repeat a lot.
Reguarly, I can even type in the first value Count without receiving an error (noting that the dialog box remembers Vertical and Horizontal values from previous use).

Occassionally I still have to use Quark 8. The Step and Repeat doesn't have this annoyance.
Given Adobe's normally exemplary usability standards this one seems like a no-brainer to me.

Hp Pavilion dv6 Notebook , Driver display stopped working and has recovered

Hi, I have a problem with my driver display....
I installed the Autocad program , and after 2 weeks, every time that I open the Autocad, after 4 or maybe 5 min. the screen goes black and after that a note shows up saying: Driver display stopped working and has recovered. I Try to update everything using the Hp support assistance and still i have the same issue. I don't know much about the computer and the driver so I will appreciate if somebody give me a solution.
