  • Need Advice-Adobe Connect and tracking student grades

I know that Adobe Connect can be used as a LMS, I need to know how to track grades for each student. Also each student has to pay for the class, How can I limit or control who logs in to the class. I dont want the link to be passed around for any one  to use. I,ll take all the help I can get. Thanks for any help or advice.

The question is, how do I "track each individuals progress through your training, and you will be able to pull reports that show that."  When I have the reports published to Adobe Connect, all I see are aggregate results.  I can find no way to get individual results.

  • How can I get my web cam to work in Adobe Connect ?

This is actually an end user's question that I am having trouble answering to...
We use Adobe Connect to give online language classes, the end user is one of the students.
I cannot find the right Support answer to give him.
    Problem:
My camera does not work when I connect to Adobe's rooms but camera works fine with other software.
Even though I suspected my old camera was working fine, yesterday I went ahead and bought a new camera.
I thought perhaps my webcam software may have been a problem, so I bought a different type camera with different software.
Even after removing all the old software, same result:
I surmised the problem might be caused by my firewall and security software, so once I tried changing the permissions for Adobe, and my Webcam, but that didn’t work.
Another time, I restarted my computer right before class and then turned off my firewall completely so there would be no interference but to no avail. I’m totally perplexed.
Isn’t there anyone else experiencing a similar problem?   Has anyone else found a solution?
I run Windows Vista with McAfee Internet Security Software.  I always reboot the computer before class and open no other programs other than Google Chrome.
I now have a brand new Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Camera with LifeCam 3.5 Webcam Software.
I test my camera before going online.  It always works fine.   Then I shut down the camera program and login into class.
When I “connect webcam” in the room, the light on my camera comes on (suggesting that it is ON), but only a black image is transmitted to the room.

Check to see if you have Google Voice installed. If so, remove it and see
if your problem vanishes. If not Google Voice, check to see if you have
any other communications software which interacts with your cam and
disable it. This was the problem I had with a similar problem on a Mac.

Thanks a lot Heyward for the swift reply !
I sent the advice out to the end user, but unfortunately this wasn't the
    solution.
    His reply is below :-
The default resolution of my new camera is already set at 640x360, but I
went ahead and tried several lower resolutions (e.g. 424x240; 320x240; and
160x120) but none worked in the room - camera still showed up as black
blank screen.  Also, as far as I can tell, I don’t have the option of
    adjusting the frame rate.
I started playing around with my Internet Security Settings to see if they
might be playing a role. So far, all to no avail.
Hmm...quite a tricky one - webcams always are - maybe if he can find a way
to adjust the frame rate (?).
He's going to fiddle about with the settings a bit more and see if
    something does the trick.
If anyone has had a similar problem and found an ingenious solution,
please jot on a note on this thread.

  • Adobe Connect does not show tool pointer/cursor when sharing Photoshop...

I am an online instructor and one of the courses I teach is a Photoshop course. Each week I host a Live Lecture session where we use Adobe Connect to demonstrate techniques and tools in Photoshop CS6.
I am receiving several complaints from students because Adobe Connect does not correctly show my cursor/pointer when it changes for each tool in Photoshop. All the students see is an arrow with a small icon of a face/monitor.
This is confusing to the students, because I am trying to demonstrate how to use a tool and they are unable to see the actual tool. For example, when I select the brush tool - they should be able to see the brush circle as the cursor. I then demonstrate how to resize the brush - but they cannot see it. Another example is any of the healing/cloning tools. If I select the healing brush tool, they cannot see the circle (brush). I then demonstrate how to record a healing point by selecting the Option (alt) key - but again the students cannot see the pointer change to the crosshairs to record the healing point - as all they see is the arrow with icon at all times.
Students are complaining that they are not able to comprehend what I am demonstrating because they are not able to get the full affect of the demonstration without seeing it how it should be. Prior to switching to Adobe Connect, we used WebEx - which showed the students everything correctly as I was demonstrating it. I was amazed to learn that Adobe Connect does not show everything - especially since I am using another Adobe program within Adobe Connect - you would think they would be fully compatible and able to show everything.
    Thank you

I just saw this option for the first time last week. Very exciting to see it finally in Connect! There is a small amount of lag for the viewers, but nothing that can't be compensated for.

  • Cannot advance through Captivate quiz after publishing to Adobe Connect.

We use Adobe Connect to present live on-line webinars to our students. We have been using Captivate to survey the students at the beginning and end of each class. I created quizzes in Captivate and published them to our Connect server. Most of the time the quizzes work fine. But some students are not able to click the submit button and advance through the quiz. Any ideas why some participants wouldn't be able to complete Captivate quizzes?

I will try that with our classes today. The weird thing is that we have 3 meeting rooms that we use these Captivate surveys in, and the same student can complete the survey in one meeting room but not another.

  • Viewing video recording that I have downloaded off of Adobe Connect 8

    Good Day
I have an Adobe Connect recording (of a training that took place), that I want to make available off line. I can view the recording via Adobe's Media player but the learners do not have the media player.
I then went to Adobe's Website to download the latest version. On the home page (middle right), one can see a section "Download", I clicked the "More" button (to the right of "Download"), but nothing.
I eventually found info on Adobe's Media Player, BUT it is not good i.e. it says that they do not support it anymore.
That is a bummer.... where to from here? How do I get my learners to view an FLV file?
Then to make matters worse I opened the video clip in Adobe Premeir only to find out that it does not import the audio. I then imported it into Adobe Media Encoder (to convert it to a wmv). No luck. It seems to leave the audio out all the time.
Anybody out there able to answer these two questions?
    Dimitri

You can easily go to Adobe Connect Central and access the recordings page for the room that was used to make the recording. You can then select make offline. Once you select that Adobe Connect Host Add-in will launch and will require that the entire meeting be played. While it is playing it is making a local copy on your local hard drive as a single FLV file. That FLV file can be played using Adobe Media Player that comes with the Adobe Creative Suite. You can also play FLV files with many free players by using Google to search for free FLV players. Your choose on that. The other option is to use file converters from FLV to any other format you desire. There are free video file converters and some for pay. Your choice on that one. Again...Google search for video converters. I convert from FLV to MOV or AVI or M4V all the time. Then you can send out the video file in any format that matches your customer/student player.

  • Web Link function on Adobe Connect

I am using the web link function on the adobe connect. When I share the link and click browse to the link opens on my page but not on the students. They can copy and paste the link into a browser but I am wondering if there is a way to have the link open on there screen instead of having them copy and paste.
    Help!
    Vanessa

When using the web links pod in Connect, if a Host or Presenter uses the Browse To function, it should force everyone in the room to have that URL open in their web browser. However, Pop-up blockers can prevent this from happening. If a Participant in the meeting uses the Browse To function, then it should only launch the link in that individual's browser.
I don't see any options in Connect to change that functionality, so I would suspect that something on your students' computers is preventing the link from opening.
Are your students able to open hyperlinks in the chat pod, or in a object in the Share pod (PPT or PDF with hyperlinks in it)?

  • Can I generate a captivate 7 quiz to adobe connect as a android app?

HI everybody, I would like to generate a quiz for adobe connect 9.1 with captivate 7 as an android app, how can I do it? is this possible?
After a slide presentation in  classorm course (a phisical one) I would like to generate for the student a 60 question quiz with cap 7, not as a Html format but transforming it as an android app with PhoneGap, am I crazy or can Idream on it?
    Ugo... :-)

You can package your CP project as an App:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/captivate-app-packager.html
but then its a standalone file. It can't be delivered through Connect as an App itself...and until Connect handles xAPI/TinCan, there's no way to get the user's input back to the Connect site.
But Connect has a mobile App too:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/captivate-app-packager.html
I've no idea how well it would work for this, but I'd hope you could upload your CP-based quiz to Connect then access it via that App.
Users would likely need to have a web connection...

  • FMS error with Adobe Connect server

I have a Adobe Connect server that freezes often.  When it is hard rebooted, I see "FMS_CON_BROKEN" error and since FMS is broken, the health check fails and the server hangs.  Is there a fix or at least a place to look for an exact issue?  I have this on Windows 2003 Sp2 .

The server shouldn't have issues with streaming multiple Presenter courses. Each server is designed to handle upto 500 concurrent connections, so if you have more than 500 students trying to access the presentation at the same time, you will likely see issues. If that is not the case, then you may have a firewall issue or something else causing the issue. Do you have any Anti-virus runing on the Server? Have you looked at the Logs to see if there is any insight there as to what happened?

  • Adobe Connect Open GL Issues & connection Problems

    Hello again,
I figured I would pass on these two Connect links that shows the challenges that I have been having with Adobe Connect.  The first shows me teaching the Pen tool to a class  and notice that the path does not show up in Connect.  This was brought to my attention by a phone call by one of my students.
The second is the Dave Cross presentation.  In the beginning I had a heck of time getting him connected.  We tried several browsers and had both video and audio connection challenges.

    Dave Cross: http://experts.adobeconnect.com/p5xsltgn0zf/

It sounds like a network issue. You say you have connected in different locations, did you connect in a location where others were not having the issue? Could your IT staff work with you to identify why you may be having connectivity issues?
If everyone was experiencing the problem, then I'd be inclined to say it was an issue with your Connect account, but being isolated to you, it seems like the problem may be local. Sometimes wireless routers get overwhelmed in busy environments, and may cause some individuals to see temporarily lost connectivity. Other times it may just be a wireless router going bad. If you are hard wired, then it may be router that is beginning to fail. Be sure that when you test other locations, you are connecting to different hardware.
Since you are running the add-in, I don't believe the browser should make any difference.

  • Information Disclosure in Adobe Connect

I have a licensed Adobe Connect deployment using Named Organizers in a mixed environment where staff and students have user accounts.  The issue is that when a Named Organizer adds registered users to a meeting room they are shown the email addresses of all registered users as a pick list.  Even worse is that when the meeting invite is sent, all email addresses are sent in the 'To' field.  This presents an issue in that student email addresses are protected information under federal and state laws.
Are there any registry hacks or a work around that would mask the email addresses from the 'Available Users and Groups' selection window and place any invited participant's email addresses in the BCC field of the system generated invitation emails?
As I understand the various privacy laws, using Adobe Connect in an education or Health care environment is illegal so long as the email addresses are visible.

The e-mail address that is shown is the Username, which is the e-mail address by default. If you change the setting to allow anything to be the Username, then that would show instead of the e-mail.
This can be done at Administration > Users And Groups > Edit Login and Password Policies.
However this will mean that you will need to update everyone's login to be something other than their e-mail.
As to the actual e-mail, you may need to reach out to Support to see if there is anything that they know of to change the setting to do a BCC e-mail.

  • Adobe Connect Pro Reports

I'd like to run and download a report that lists the
completion status for each student in each course enrolled. I can
do it one student at a time, but the output is not downloadable.
I'm using the Adobe Connect standard tools off the UI. Is there a
more sophistocated way to access the content in the Adobe Connect
database? This is pretty useless as is for what I need. A simple
report will probably take a day's worth of manual labor... unless
    I'm compleley missing something.
    Thanks,
    Sherry

I realize this discussion is a couple of years old but I am having a very similar problem and just as much trouble trying to solve it....so I am really hoping to find some help here!
I work as a corporate trainer for an organization of 800+ employees.  A new part of the annual performance evaluations, the employees are going to enroll & participate in recorded training classes that are available to them.  The Training department has created the list of several dozen courses which the employee may choose from.
My problem is this - my department & I need to generate a report that displays the users who have participated in any training over a set period of time.
For example: "100 employees took 17 classes in the month of July".
I have fiddled around with the "System Usage Report" and a few others but they are not as helpful or as inclusive as we need them to be.  The only option I am seeing at this point is running separate reports for each course and then compiling all of that data into one master list.  I feel that will take an obsene amount of work, especially for something that will have to be regularly (like every month).
Any assistance or insight that anyone can offer is greatly appreciated!

  • FYI - For all preview clients of Adobe Connect 8

Hello! For anyone who is part of the Preview Release of Adobe Connect 8 that wish to modify their account, please see the following statement from the Prerelease team here at Adobe:
Adobe offers select customers and users an opportunity to discover and try the new meeting client interface of Adobe Connect 8 ahead of its general release. The Customer Preview program does not allow for modifying account quotas or customizing account URL.
Note that the regular Adobe Connect trials will be upgraded to Adobe Connect 8 upon launch. Please contact your Adobe account manager or reseller if you need special assistance for your product trial.
In short, this means that URLs or Quota limits on Preview accounts cannot be modified. This limitation does not apply to accounts which are not part of the Preview program.

• Accessibility and Adobe Connect

I have a class that is interested in watching an educational webinar I'm presenting in May. The class has deaf students and the teacher was wondering if Adobe Connect has captioning or any other options to make the webinar more accessible.
    Thanks for your help!

There is a Closed Captions Pod here: http://www.adobe.com/products/adobeconnect/extend.html#3
You can find all the accesability info on Connect here: http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/compliance/index.html#adobeconnect8
