  • Profit Centers & Distribution Rules

    hi experts,
I have created a distribution rule which consists of 5 profit centers as following:
    Sales1 20%
    Sales2 20%
    Sales3 20%
    Sales4 20%
    Sales5 20%
I posted a JE with amount of 2000 to one of my expense accounts with distribution rule tagged in row level.
    Run:
P&L statement with profit center Sales1 is selected (expected result: expense account 400)
    Result:
Empty~NOTHING. (I believe 400 should be showing in my P&L right?)
Please advice me on above statement.

    Hi Lim,
you need to define the distribution rule (remember if it is direct charge or indirect charge), than You can post a document or a JE with a G/L account of expenses or profit and you need to specify the Dsitribution Rule code into the JE row with the G/L Account.
When you run the Profit Center Report and you can see the amount's distributed by Profit Center based on the rule you have defined.
With the Profit & Loss Statement, you can't run it with the Profit Center into Expanded Selection Criteria but you can run only with the Distribution Rule (in fact into the JE you have inserted the rule non the profit center !! ).
This is a limitation and a system definiton of Cost Accounting into Business One.

  • Distribution Rules -Direct Debit

    Hi,
When seting up a distribution rule there is some option called the "Direct Debit"
This acording to what I have simulated is the "Direct allocation" of Expenses or Revenue as seen in the Profit Center Report.
Is this something to do with the Direct and Indirect expense or revenue accounting?
If not what is the use of this feature?
    Regards

Check this link which explains cleary Direct Debit/ Indirect debit in Distribution rules:

  • Distribution rules issue

    Hi,
Could anybody explain what is distribution rule and where it comes into picture. Your help is highly appreciated.

    Hi
Periodic repostings, assessment, distribution, and indirect activity allocation are defined using cycles. In a cycle you define the sender-receiver relationships and the corresponding distribution rules.
During periodic repostings, assessment, distribution, and indirect activity allocation, all sender-/receiver relationships defined in a cycle are processed together iteratively. If you want to process hierarchies separately, you must define a cycle for each level of the hierarchy. You then process the cycles in succession.
    Use
    Distribution:
    Reposting of primary costs
Sender cost centers are credited with a primary cost element
Receiver cost centers are debited with a primary cost element
Information on senders and receivers contained in the document
List of origins not maintained in the CO document

  • Profit Centres and Distribution Rules

Hi, Is there someone who can help me about a problem with cost accounting?
I've set profit centres, distribution rules (created and linked to profit centres), I've linked accounts to distribution rules so the "profit centre report" shows all the expenses related to each PC/DR. I also can see the table with all the parameters I set. My question is: how can I check (or is it possible to check) if a specific cost (account) is more than the limit I set in the distribution rules? In other terms: If I set 10.000 EUR on DR called "training expenses" with account linked "040001" and then I charge this account with 20.000 EUR; is it possible to have a notification or something in the "profit centre report" or in the "table of PC and DR" who tells: "ehy man, you spent too much!!!" (or at least the possibility to have DR values in the PC report?).
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry about the length of my post.

No but you can use the Budget features of B1 to do something similar. If you turn on Budgeting from the System Initialization>General Settings>Budget   You can warn on devations from Budget or block devations from budget, on PO, GRPO and JEs

  • Changing the automatic Distribution Rule from Per to Full

    Hello SAPians,
I have a scenario where the Customer is maintaining the Moving Average Price (I know this is not SAP suggested, I am in the process of convincing to move from moving avg to Std) for the Semi-finished goods and finished goods.
It is Product Cost by Order scenario where Process Orders are using and the settlement rule to the Material and distribution rule is "Per" (Periodic). The main reason Customer had this Per was they would not be able to settle the Order once they settle it in full.
But due to increased issues in month end atctivities due to thie 'Per' settlement (settlement of Process Orders not settling properly in the last month due to the failure of Batch jobs and other reasons). I want to suggest them to use Distribution Rule 'Full' instead of 'Per' because of the following advantages considering the above scenario.
    1. The 'Full' settlement can be settled if the Order is not in Teco or closed status any number of times as long as there is the Variance sitting on the Order.
    2. The 'Full' Distribution rule will not create issue if the variance is sitting on the Order in the closed period because when you do the settlement in the next period, system will allocate the variances from the last period to the Material Receiver in the current Period(I have not yet tested this scenario) and has not been. (Yeah I know there will be issue if the Material has been moved out of inventory before the settlement happens, they have another set up to update the Material prices manually by keeping the track of cost of Material).
    3. So the config change will be the Product cost by Order -> Manufacturing Order-> Define Cost-Accounting-Relevant Default Values for Order Typ --> change the Default rule from PP1 to PP2 'Process orders (periodic settlement)'
Please let me know if what I am thinking is wrong based on this sceanrio and also please give me some more insight if I am missing any points.
Thank you very much for your time!
    -Harter.

    Hi Balaji/Ajay,
Could you please help me in understanding the effect of Variances if I change the Order type to FULL in this scenario (Moving Average price for Finished good Material)?
I checked the configuration and the Variance is only Total Variance that is settling to FI and COPA.
Also client is more concentrated on Variance accumulated per year and not per month.
Let's say I have Order in Period 9 where the actual debits on the Order are $1000 and actual credits are $1200 where balance (variance) is $200 and suppose I missed the Period 9 settlement and I want to settle this Order in Period 10 where I had $100 variance in that Period 10
    Period         Variance on Order                Status
    9              $200                   missed
    10              $100                   not yet
So now when I settle the Order in period 10 (with FULL as settlement type), it settles $300 instead of $100 variance. So if this is the case, if I look at the Variance data, yes the variance data is wrong but if I look at yearly perspective, it looks right but I think I am missing something here, right?
Also what happens if the Order is open more than one year and the same scenario happens, the Variance will be posted to new year which is again issue, right?
Am I in the right direction?
    Please advice.
    Thank you,
    -Harter.

  • Itu00B4s possible to change the Distribution rules for a order type RM01 ??

    Hi Experts:
I need to change the settlement rule which is automatic created at the moment  that you create a Cost colector (class order RM01) transaction KKF6N..
but when I go into KKF6N transaction and I select the "change" option and after that I go into settlement rule screen, I can´t change the distribution rule.
I would need to change the settlement type from "PER" value to "TOT" value.. It´is possible in this kind of Cost colectors??
    Thanks and regards!
    Manuel

    Hi,
Please note that you will not be able to change manually the settlement rule for a cost collector.
When you save, the system creates a settlement rule for the product cost collector.
The settlement rule for the product cost collector always specifies the distribution rule "100% to material" and the settlement type  is always PER (periodic).
Also refer the note 388457 in which one of the paragraph it says "As of Release 4.5, a special settlement rule is generated when you create a product cost collector (with procedure 5: delivery value for product cost collector). You cannot subsequently change this settlement rule".

  • AIAB Distribution Rule for Settlement Error, "Asset cannot settle to itself"

    Hello Everyone,
I have a customer who is getting the "asset cannot settle to itself" error when trying to set up a distribution rule to settle the remaining items of a Line Item Managed AUC to multiple Assets.  The Asset numbers and AUC number do NOT match.  Here are the steps that have been followed.
Created an Internal Order, #2000####. (1998)
    Created the AuC asset. #600####(2011)
Created Settlement Rule (Sender – Internal Order, Receiver - AUC) (2011
    Settle Internal Order to AUC.
    Create Assets. (2014). #900###1 - #900##99 etc.
Create Settlement Rule (Sender – AUC, Receiver – Multiple Assets)  This is where my customer gets the error.
They were able to settle other items from this AuC to Assets last October.  It seems very strange to me that the Internal Order was created in 1998 and the AUC was created in 2011 but as I said, this was working at least last October and possibly in March of this year.
    Thanks for you help.
    Rick

    Hello Stacy,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but I just had a major implementation go live on the 2nd so I've been rather busy.  I opened a ticket with SAP on this and this is what was found.
Joachim from SAP Support explained that the AUC had been settled to itself last year, that is the posting the program was throwing the error on.  My assumption is that we were able to settle AUC's to themselves prior to our March upgrade.  This explains the problem and we have a resolution.  We are transferring AUCs that this has happened with to a new AUC and then settling the new AUC as usual.
I believe SAP fixed a bug that had previously allowed AUC's to settle to themselves in one of the updates but because this AUC had a record from the past where it settled to itself the program was validating old line items and that is why it throws the error.
Ramnik's suggestion was another option but we didn't want to change the message to a warning because we didn't want anyone to settle an asset to itself.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Rick

  • Distribution Rule in Incoming Payment of Invoice

    Hello Experts,
    I'm running SAP B1 8.81 PL05 and I have the following problem.
I issue an A/R Invoice + Payment  and I have in the "Payment Means" a discount. The final result is an issue of two different journal entries - one for the invoice and another for the payment discount.
The problem is that I want to have a Distribution Rule associated with the Incoming Payment discount and I can't find a way to associate it - the solution of associating a distribution rule to the account is not possible because the Distribution Rule changes according to the sales employee.
    Help would be very appreciated.

    Hi Thomas,
From the SAP help, you can know what is the use of this rule.
    Defining Distribution Rules
    Use
For cost accounting, this setting is mandatory.
Use this procedure to define distribution rules to distribute amounts between different profit centers.
    Prerequisites
    You have defined profit centers.
Note: If you delete a distribution rule for one profit center (100%) this does not automatically delete the profit center.
You can also look up this key word to find more info. For examle, you can find SAP note 1236348 to see if it fits you.

  • How to add the distribution rule at AR Invoice in SAP 2007B PL10

    Hi All,
I want to add the default distribution rules of each item at marketing documents via DI API when item's warehouse changed? Now, I'm using the SAP 2007B PL 10.
           Any ideas?
    Thanks and regards,
    Lei

    Hi,
When add the Itemcode, default warehouse and costing codes (Profit Center) are automatically asign by SAP.
When change the warehouse for this Itemcode, the costing codes(Profit Center) are disappear. I don't want to disappear the costing codes, that's why I try to resign the default costing codes when the warehouse change.
At SAP 2005, easily  access the screen matrix in the marketing document and add the required values in each costing codes columns. But SAP 2007, all costing codes are combined in 1 col and those have the other screen.
Do you have any idea to control the costing codes?
    Thanks and regards,

  • Distribution rules in Incoming payment and Outgoing payment

    Hi,
Did anyone know the purpose of having distribution rules in all the outstanding invoices in both Incoming and Outgoing payment.
I try to attach the distribution rules to specific invoice and post incoming payment but it did not appear in the bank journal entry row.
I also try to attach profit center in AR Invoice row but after posting and do Incoming payment, the distribution rules also never show for that particular invoice.
Really wonder how the distribution rule works?

  • Different Distribution Rule on Outgoing Payment cannot be split on Journal

    Hi All,
I created an Outgoing Payment for Vendor for several invoices. Each invoice was assigned to different Distribution Rule. But the journal created summarized all the invoices (only one row for debit AP), and no distribution rule was assigned. Is this a bug? Anybody ever experienced the same problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Marini

    Hi Gordon,
    I am working with version 2007 A PL 42.
I found that Distribution Rule on Outgoing Payment is for Discount purpose. When we fill Discount then it will be posted to Discount Account with Distribution Rule defined.
