DL380 G9 with P440ar maximum number of drive

I will consider to order one DL380 Gen9 with HP Smart Array P440ar (26x 1.2T )
front 24 drive
rear 2 drive for OS
my questions is Smart Array P440ar support below configuration or not
23x drive RAID 6 group
1x drive hot spare
2x drive RAID 1 group forOS
If support, any limitation of logical drive under this RAID 6 group ?
I need to create 3 x logical drive under it
I think this hot spare drive for this RAID 6 without any problem, how about it can recover OS mirror if rear drive failure

  • Problem with reached maximum number of connections to database

    Dear Experts,
Our Production system was not responding properly last week.
The below was the reply from the Basis team.
"It seems that we have again problem with reached maximum number of connections to database. We have extended this number to 100 this year and now it seems that it’s not enough again. It seems that something is running on Production, which takes over too many connections."
They have increased the number to 200 as a work around.
Do we have any means to find out, which component or application is causing the issue.
Please advise me if any better way is available to correct the issue.

  • How to design Storage Spaces with a large number of drives

I am wondering how one might go about designing a storage space for a large number of drives. Specifically I've got 45 x 4TB drives. As i am not extremely familiar with storage spaces, i'm a bit confused as to how I should go about designing this. Here is
how i would do it in hardware raid and i'd like to know how to best match this setup in Storage Spaces. I've been burned twice now by poorly designed storage spaces and i don't want to get burned again. I want to make sure if a drive fails, i'm able to properly
replace it without SS tossing it's cookies.
In the hardware raid world, i would divide these 45 x 4TB drives into three separate 15 disk Raid 6's. (Thus losing 6 drives to parity) Each raid 6 would show up as a separate volume/drive to the parent
OS. If any disk failed in any of the three raids, i would simply pull it out and put a new disk back in and the raid would rebuild itself.
Here is my best guess for storage spaces. I would create 3 separate storage pools each containing 15 disks. I would then create a separate
Dual Parity Virtual Disk for each pool. (Also losing 6 drives to parity) Each virtual disk would appear as a separate volume/disk
to the parent OS. Did i miss anything?
Additionally, is there any benefit to breaking up my 45 disks into 3 separate pools? Would it be better to create one giant pool with all 45 disks and then create 3 (or however many) virtual disks on top of that one pool?

    1) Try to avoid parity and esp. double parity RAIDs with a typical VM workload. It's dominated by small reads (OK) and small writes (not OK as whole parity stripe gets updated with any "ready-modify-write" sequence). As a result writes would be DOG slow.
Another nasty parity RAID characteristic is very long rebuild times... It's pretty easy to get second (third with double parity) drive failure during re-build process and that would render the whole RAID set useless. Solution would be to use RAID10. Much safer,
faster to work and rebuild compared to RAID5/6 but wastes half of raw capacity...
    2) Creating "islands" of storage is an extremely effective way of stealing IOPS away from your config. Typical modern RAID set would run out of IOPS long before running out of capacity so unless you're planning to have a file dump of an ice cold data or
CCTV storage you'll absolutely need all IOPS from all spindles @ the same time. This again means One Big RAID10, OBR10.
Hope this helped a bit :) Good luck!

  • Maximum number of drives OSX will mount?

I have seen that Apple says that OSX can mount an "Unlimited" number of volumes. Does that mean then that I can hook up lets say 100 hard drives?
In a nutshell I am running into an issue having 24 drives show up in OSX SL. Only a maximum of 16 show. I am using an SAS Expander capable RAID card. The Raid GUI show all 24 devices but OSX does not. I am trying to figure out where the failure is happening...

Thanks for the reply. I was trying to get one question answered about the OS but since you asked here's more info. Each drive is just that one drive one partition... All I want to do at this point is have them show up so we can pull data off them as needed instead of using single bay hotswap devices as we have in the past.
I currently have a MacPro 1,1 with a Newer Technology MAXPower RAID mini-SAS 6G-1e1i. OSX Snow Leopard OS. At this stage I am NOT trying to raid anything. I have a 24 bay SAS expander box with an Areca "controller" that feeds the SAS cable to the 24 bays. This card supports up to 128 devices through SAS expanders. When I fill the expander with 24 drives only 16 mount. I was thinking that OSX SL was maxing out at 16 volumes but Apples spec sheets says unlimited volumes in OSX (all versions). Also the internal bays do not seem to have an affect on the 16 number. I can have one or two internal bays filled with varying partitions (I have tried 1-4 meaning a total of 17-20 mounted volumes are showing in OSX.
The webGUI is showing ALL 24 drives in the SAS Expander. OSX is only mounting 16. All the bays work as I can remove drives from the upper bays then the lower bays will mount. It seems the card is working, the GUI is working, but something between that and the OS is limiting to 16 drives.
I am in contact with OWC but it is slow going as they are mixing my support question with another customer with totally different hardware...sigh.
Maybe there is a limit to the number of automatic "pass through" devices? Would PCIe 2 slots make a difference (I am not interested in speed just total drives mounted, although they are already seen by the GUI now)? I am not at the office till later in the week to try other things but thought I would post incase I am missing something simple.

Try to write your own cell editor.
There attach an InputVerifier to the JTextField of the editing cell.
The input verifier can watch for the size of the input and if too many characters you can show a JOptionPane.Dialog.

  • Maximum number of podcasts?

    Dear all,
For some reason, iTunes refuses to upload more than 3 episodes of a particular video podcast to my 5G iPod.
    The podcast URL is:
    http://www.29hdnetwork.com/index.xml
and contains a large amount of episodes.
I have iTunes configured to update all episodes automatically, but despite this I cannot find a way to transfer them all to the iPod.
Could someone please try out this podcast and see if this works for him/her? Is this perhaps a parameter dictated by the podcaster? That would be silly.
    Thanks very much!
    -Wouter.

    Dear btabz,
At the moment I already have it set to 'Automatically update all Podcasts' and 'Update: all episodes'. So I'm afraid that can't be it..
UPDATE: just now, a new episode popped up, which was downloaded and transfered to the iPod successfully. This could mean the actual problem is not so much to do with a maximum number of podcasts, but rather with transfering older podcasts. The weird thing is, this works perfectly fine with other video podcasts, like Tiki Bar TV.
    Cheers,
    -Wouter.

  • Maximum Number of NICs and Ethernet Ports

    Dear Friend,
I am looking into constructing a Sun system with the maximum number of ethernet ports.
Q1: is there a Solaris 8 specific maximum number of ethernet ports that it can support?
Q2: i know you can get quad ethernet cards, but anyone know of cards that offer more than four per card?
Q3: assuming the cards will be PCI, which sun machine offers the maximum number of PCI slots?
    I really appreciate your help
    many thanks

    Hi Rukbat
    Thanks for your response.
    > A1: There isn't any limitation within the OS.
    > Your limitations are from the hardware of the system.
Indeed, I did not think there would be a limit from within the OS. I have had a research sun machine with some 12+1 ports, an ol'Ultra-10 actually. i got upto that many ports by using three qfe's and there is one port already on the system (hme0)
    >If you have too much packet traffic for your cpu modules
    > and RAM, you'll have delays, data corruption, or even
    > system panics.
one accepts that there would be delays - naturally. but I am not sure why there would be data corruption or even panics. that to me sounds very very serious.
the ultra-10 seems to be working ok; I never saw it crash once. But I must confess that the traffic load is not THAT high.
    > Long time ago, there was a general rule-of-thumb
    > for the QFE cards:
    > -- one cpu per TWO ethernet ports,
    > if the modules are faster than 200MHz.
erm erm I would say that is pretty low, but I would not call myself an expert on this really.
    > I'm sure there is a similar suggestion for QGE's and fast
    > cpu's in this 21st century.
i would like to think that one modern cpu should be ok for about 10 ports with reasonable traffic load. I am judging this by the old Ultra-10 I have built, beside which I have no supporting evidence.
    > A2: There are no Sun-qualified adapters with more than
    > four ports per card.
    i am surprised at that.
    > Third party hardware? you'd be on your own and need
    > support from those manufacturers.
    yes I agree
    > Besides, there is only so much room on the card's
    > backplate if you want to actually plug in the wires.
I take your point about the physical space on the backplate. I have found one company that is knocking up 6-port devices, and from what I gather, that is as much as one is gonna get.
    > A3: A Sunfire E6900 would be able to be configured for 32

    > domain, and an E25k can give you up to 72 PCI slots in
    > a single domain.
that is a good hint actually. that is the high-end range I think.
in any case, I think the sort of machine I would be looking for is in sun's mid-range of servers. something like a V440, which has 6 PCI slots for use. I could potentially have (6x6)+2=38 ports. It is also capable of taking four 1.593-GHz UltraSPARC IIIi processors, and my gut feeling is that the four processors will be ok to support 38 ports.
I am still open to take advice of course. Indeed I would very much appreaciate further thoughts!

    Hi,
Check the condition on the loop for you workflow. It seems its getting into infinite loop.
Also check for the possibility FM which might be triggering your workflow is getting executed in an infinite loop. So it might trigger multiple instances of the same workflow.

When you setup the wireless and ethernet in the computer.. ipv6 will be on automatic.. this is wrong for the latest TC firmware and airport utility. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4597
Go to the wireless and ethernet setup in preferences and change ipv6 to link local.
Once you do the big backup by ethernet the wireless will function fine for incremental.. it is obviously not estimating the size correctly..
A full back-up on the iMac would be about 650 GB.  The partial updates that I have been trying start out at 115MB and keep growing indefinitely.  The original back-up never finished nor have any of the follow-up attempts.
The first estimate should be the full backup but it will keep growing as the backup advances.. I would also delete any inprogress files to make sure it is not messing up .. delete even a sparsebundle if there is one for the imac on the TC and start afresh once you have ethernet connection.
    See A10 here.
Pondini may have some other clues there to give you an idea of why the backup is slow or not finishing.. there is a lot of issues with TM when it decides not to work.

  • Maximum number of iTunes accounts associated with one credit card?

We have a 20 person sales force and will be updating their iPhones and iPads to iOS 5 at a meeting in February.  We want each sales rep to have their own iCloud account for backups and storage.  So, we created 20 new iTunes accounts for each of them using the same company credit card.  To avoid any problems when we do the rollout I wanted to find out what the maximum number of accounts that iTunes allows you to register with one credit card?
    Background Information
Currently, our sales force uses a company ID and password to download apps.  This allows us to keep the accounts and location settings restricted for security purposes in case a device is lost.  We have since created 20 new user accounts under one credit card for our sales force.  I did not do this, but worked closely with the individual who set them up.  They shared that iTunes only allowed three accounts to be created per day with the same credit card - I assume that's for security purposes.
In the end, all were able to be registered without a problem.  My concern is that when we update the devices, which will be over a period of 1-2 days, will there be a limitation to activating accounts under the same credit card, as there was when we created the accounts?  I'm doing the research now to avoid what could be a significant problem if not properly prepared for.
If there's another solution for this, please feel free to share.  Our objective is to remove the reliance on the company computer for syncing and give the sales force more freedom.  We will still be locking the location for security purposes in case the device is lost/stolen - the iTunes password will be shared between the company and sales rep.  They also won't need to ship the device back to our office if there's a problem, as they would be able to restore with iCloud.
    Thank you!

Thank you for the reply!  That is helpful to know.
My follow-up question is this: we somehow managed to add 20 people to one credit card within one month without any warnings.  Should we anticipate encountering a problem?
In the interim, someone in our office is going to try and log into iTunes separately with each of the 20 accounts and download an app to see if there are any problems.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Plsql dynamic region with more than the maximum number of items

    Hi,
    I need suggestions! :)
I have to make a page with many many items. We have a table storing the content of a SQL script, each statement is an individual row in the table. The page I'm trying to make must display each statement in an individual textbox/textarea (and two others items for different attributes).
In a dynamic plsql region, the maximum number of items seems to be 1990, after that, a "Page not found" is launched. So, after 643 statements, I reach the limit...! :(
A solution could be to generate "custom" textfield or textarea (htp.p('<input type=text name="stmt1" value="StmtText">');), but, is it possible to access their values when the page is submitted ?
Second solution is to make a pagination every 600 statements, but I don't like it!
    Anything else ?
    Thank you!
    Jonathan

    Anton,
at least to my knowledge there you will have the same limitation. Because the limitation is that the f procedure of APEX doesn't have more parameters to support more fields. It's not a limitation of the APEX Builder.
It would only work if you assign all your items to the same name, so that they are transfered in an array, like the tabular form.
