Document Sharing

Hi…
So, one of my fav apps is good reader. They just released an update that allows for document sharing so that, for example, if you get a pdf attachment in one of your emails, you can open it in good reader.
When a single-page pdf comes in via email, that document is "open" in the mail view window. Because of this, I've been unable to "open in good reader."
With a multi-page pdf, I see an icon for the file. If I touch and hold on that icon, I get a dialogue that allows me to open into good reader. But, I can't seem to do this for single-page PDFs.
Am I missing something? How do I accomplish document sharing on a single-page PDF?
Thanks!

I use DropBox, but this doesn't really solve my issue here. Drop box is great if I'm at home on my mac and can save a file to drop box for later viewing on the iPad.
However, if I'm NOT at home, and an email comes in with a single-page pdf attachment, and I want to be able to open it in GoodReader, there seems to be no way to do this using the Document Share feature.
I've suggested the feature update from Apple, but if anyone else has a solution, let me know.

When in a document shared review envitronemnt, the Sign Document menu is grayed out, I want to be able to place my initials in

The contents of the folder-level JavaScript file can simply be:
// Create and set the value of the identity.initials property
    identity.initials = "GWJ";
You can then retrieve the value in your dynamic stamp JavaScript to the the value of a field, something like:
// Code in calculation of a text field in a dynamic stamp
    event.value = identity.initials;

Yes I have, doesn't address the issue of mapped drive connection at logon. And it's not acceptable to install a client on every PC just to share a drive but that's besides the point and a point that some might argue ..
I think I figured it out.
Use the user "guest" with password "guest" and the gues account can always log on. I say always after trying successfully about 4 times on two different PCs. so don't take it as gospel. I'll update other thread.

  • Reader locks up IE when viewing Reader Extended documents (Shared Review)

There seems to be a problem when viewing some reader extended documents that have shared review enabled over WEBDAV.  This has been going on for quite some time, and I can't seem to find a consistent solution for it.  I have had many different clients report the same problem, always within IE.
    Here is what happens:
You click a link to view a pdf that has shared review enabled, and has been reader extended.
A gray screen comes up with a progress indicator.
When the progress indicator comes up, the document displays in the background and a "Welcome to Shared Review" window appears.
You click ok to the Welcome window, and the document reverts to the blank gray screen and you are stuck.  Occasionally IE locks up at this point as well.
    Here's what I know:
The problem occurs when the file is viewed in IE.  The problem does not seem to occurr in other browsers such as chrome or firefox.
The problem does not occur when the same file is saved to the desktop and opened within the desktop version of Reader or Acrobat.
The problem occurs with both Reader X and XI
The problem occurs on both Windows 7, and Vista (at least)
The problem occurs on IE 9 and 10
The same problem has occurred on at least 20 computers in 5 different network environments
The problem often times occurs on the second view of a document, and then prevents you from ever viewing it again.
    What I've tried
Uninstall IE and all copies of Reader & Acrobat
    Reinstall IE
    Reinstall Reader
    Update Everything
    Turn off "Speculative Downloading"
    Turn off "Fast Web View"
none of that seems to help
Sometimes i can get it to work temporarily by clearing the temp internet files in IE and then viewing the document again.  Sometimes it will then start to display fine, but later reverts to the gray screen.
    Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Thanks for the intelligent reply Pat!  I was sure that I would receive a comment asking if i've tried rebooting.  I'll post back with results asap.

  • Documents shared from Pages only open in browser?

I showed my wife how to use the new Share (collaboration) feature in Pages. She sent me a link to a Pages document via Messages, and I received the link in Messages. But clicking the link opens the file in Safari. While that is ok (it works),  I'd prefer to open the file in the native Pages apps on the Mac or iPad. Is there a way to open shared files in Pages on the Mac or Pages on the iPad? Thanks!

Good question. Someone sent me the link to a draft Pages document, which I could not edit on the Web. I downloaded the document onto my iPad and edited that copy using the Pages app. I emailed the link to the revised document to the original author. Using an iPad, that person could only download my version of the document, edit it on her iPad, and print the final result.
Following your suggestion, the original author opened my email on a Mac AirBook, clicked the link, and was then able to make her revisions using Safari. After she closed the document tab in Safari (I have no idea whether that step was necessary), I returned to the still-running Pages app on my iPad. After a delay of a second or two, my document acquired the original author's new revisions. When I modified the document once again on my iPad, the original author was able to follow the link in my original email to get back to the shared document in Safari, where she saw my latest changes.
So, going from an iDevice to a Mac via a shared iCloud link works, relying on Apple's Web iWork tools. If you want to go the other way, the recipient of the Mac email has to download the Pages document onto his iPad and send a link to the iPad copy back to the original author. Then both can collaborate using the shared iPad copy. Thanks for the idea.

  • Office document sharing failure on server 2003 (SMB issue?)

We have a major issue running Office 2003 and 2010 on Windows server 2003 in a corporate AD environment.  Since upgrading workstations from XP to Windows 7 we find that many users loose locking of Excel and Word files between 20 minutes and 6 hours
after opening.  This allows a second user to open the file, save it, then the original user saves and the first users changes are lost.
We have tried everything we can think of, removing AV software from severe and client, patching completely, wiping serve rand building from scratch, etc.  We have run out of ideas from Microsoft tech support, cannot get any joy from our account manager,
and are out of ideas.  Office 2013 also seems to have the same problem from our testing.
The issue is active for files from Excel and Word, and does not matter whether it is a file format in the legacy 2003 format or the newer 2010 format.
FYI - This cannot be replaicted using Widnows XP on the same network / server / document - It is specific to WIndows 7 !
Has anyone had this problem and can anyone help?
    ...Jon.
    ...Jon.

    Hi Jon,
When opening an Office file, a temp file will be created in the same folder. A second open session will check if any related temp file is already exists and if it does, Office will prompt that the file is "in use".
Thus please first check if a temp file will be created (it is a hidden file) when opening an Office file - have a try with creating a new shared folder with Everyone - Full Control for the test and if this will work, check permission settings of the original
    shared folder.
If you have any feedback on our support, please send to [email protected]

New to apple devices first ipad, any help gratefully received 'googling' is no help.

    Hello Bluemax22
If you are getting prompts to authorized moves, you could have issues with permissions to those items and folders. Check out the article below to troubleshooting further.

  • Site & documents shared with me

    Hello,
I am a member of different site collection & admin shared some documents & folders from different different site collections. Is there any way so that i can see all the sites & document which is shared with me in one place like we have an app
"Table of contents " but the problem with this app is it shows all the documents & site within a single site collection not from a different site collection. So i want something which can show all the sites & documents which is shared with
me from different site collection in a single place.

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, there are two method to share docuements: Share a document and require sign-in; Share a document, but don’t require sign-in.
What you said is to the second method which is share a link to the external user.
However, external users cannot create their own personal sites (what used to be referred to as My Sites). This means that they do not have their own SkyDrive Pro document library.
It is impossible for external user to see all the shared documents from different site collection in a single place.
If you’re wondering what types of users qualify as external users and what rights an external user has, see
    What is an external
    user?
If your organization is using one of the Office 365 enterprise plans, see

If still no help, for quick and accurate answers to your questions, it is recommended that you initial a new thread in Office 365 forum.

  • Jabber Video Size with Telepresence Document Sharing

    Hi!
I can successfully share my pc's desktop in telepresence (c40) to the jabber for iPad.
However, the problem is that when I enable full screen sharing on presence - nothing changes on iPad - I still having a small desktop picture (not a fullscreen)
    Anyone solved this?

    Hi Randy Watson,
Using IP addresses is not an option since we use GeoDNS for media traffic.  I do not believe the proxy settings for the client will work as when configured on the client means that to login via the client those credentials go through a proxy, which is not the case for our service.

  • How can I organize multiple iWorks documents shared with me via iCloud?

    Hi,
I'm just exploring iWorks for iCloud beta (i4ib).  A friend shared a Numbers spreadsheet with me via iCloud.  I can open it and edit it as expected.  So far, so good.  The two of us plan to work on several spreadsheets like this over the next two months.  Going back to an old email to retrieve the link to each file when we need it "just ain't Apple" if you'll allow me to paraphrase a quote from Happy Feet.
We would like to be able to use iCloud to organize the spreadsheets *someone has shared with us* so we could access them using the same Spreadsheet Manager tool in iCloud that we would use for any other spreadsheets *we have created and stored on iCloud*.  So far I haven't been able to discern how to do so and cannot tell if this is a supported use or not.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Have I just managed to miss it in the hints and help available?
In the mean time I've copied the a link for each of the spreadsheets he shared with me to a folder on my Safari favorites bar.  That work around is suitable for very small collaboration exercises but far from optimal for anyone who envisions using iCloud for collaboration on a larger scale.  I thought I'd ask the question before I tried to submit this as feedback to Apple.
    Regards,
    Elise
PS - I used *bold* to emphasize the difference between a spreadsheet I "own" because I created it and one created by someone else and shared with me.

What you want is not yet possible, so you should use the feedback channel to ask Apple to add it.  If Googledocs is better at this (I think it is from what I have read), you should make that point.

  • Whenever a user opens a document shared our SharePoint intranet he is prompted if he wants to open or save the file

We have a SharePoint intranet we use to share documents.  I have a user that every time he tries to open an Office document from this site, he receives the prompt: "Do you want to Open or Save this file?".  If he opens the file and updates it,
the changes are saved locally on his computer and not onto the website.
The issue doesn't seem to be the site or his permissions because if he tries to do this using my computer instead, he is able to open the file, update it and the updates are saved directly onto the website.  It only happens from this specific PC.
The PC is running Win7, IE9 and Office 2010 (same as mine).  I also compared the configuration for the different security zones between the 2 PCs and they look the same (internet, intranet and trusted sites).  I'm thinking there must be a setting
configured differently somewhere in his IE but I'm not sure what else could be causing his computer to behave differently than mine when performing this task.  Any advice would be appreciated...

    Hi,
Did you mean that you wanted to pop up the dialog of "You are about to open: <Name:file name><From:web site>,How would you like to open this file:Read Only, Edit", update the file and save it back to the current SharePoint library ?
    Please check two points below,
Check and make sure add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" is enabled via IE9(32-bit version) Tools->Manage add-ons from your user's PC. if it doesn't appear, please repair or change the Office 2010 from Control
Panel, make sure to install Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Support within
    Office Tools per this
    article.
If add-on "SharePoint OpenDocuments Class" has beed enabled, you need to check and disable the the Word
    Protected View per this
    article, then check result again.
    Thanks

  • WebAnalysis Document Sharing in System 9.3.0.1 Workspace

What's the secret sauce? I've set the file permissions to FULL CONTROL for my groups and users and they cannot open a document published in Workspace! Has anyone done this before and can you share the secret?

    Hello,
If you could provide a little more detail it might help narrow down the issue.
Do the user's see the document within Workspace?
Do they get an error when trying to access the document? If so what is the error?
Are the user's provisioned to be able to access WebAnalysis?
Do the user's have the appropriate JRE installed to launch the WebAnalysis Applet?

  • Emails are not being sent on Document sharing

    Hi everyone,
I have a created a documnt library and made it available for users. The issue is that emails are not being sent when a user creates/Uploads a document and share it with other users. Please refer below screenshot.
Further, emails from approval workflows are being sent properly.
Do i have to look into exchange server or sharepoint needs to be configured?
    Please suggest a workaround.
    Thanks
    -Ahmed Khan

    Hi ,
Based on your description, my understanding is that emails are not being sent when a user share a document with other users.
I have done a test on my SharePoint 2013, I can’t reproduce the issue.
Did all users not receive the emails? You should check outgoing email for a SharePoint 2013 farm.
Here is a link about how to Configure outgoing email for a SharePoint 2010 farm, you can take a look at:

  • Document sharing with other users - Collaboration

Working on a project with a friend and we need to collaborate on several documents.  Is this possible in iCloud.  At first glance it does not appear so.
    Thank you.

Yes it is possible, but not with the basic setup.
Firstly, I assume you are talking about iWork documents, and not any other type of document. Unfortunately iCloud document syncing only works within the same iCloud account. In order to share documents, You would need to our load/download your documents and share them from a third party storage solution such as dropbox or sugarsync.
Downloading documents from such storage solutions is not a problem, but in order to upload them from the iWork app on your iOS device, you will need to use a webDAV server.
