E-Recruitment Installation - new client required??

Hi Experts,
We are implementing E-REC and I am not sure if we should install it with a different client than the one we use for HR. How do you decide? Does it need to be a different client?
If so, do you need to maintain user ids and authorizations in both clients?
How does the Portal know what client to reference when pulling data?
Thanks for any help!
Shane

Hello Shane,
i have to admit that i never thought /heared of that option. Usually you decide between installing on the HR server (same client) or you install on a seperate server. For the first option there is a synchronization on the server for making employees to internal candidates for the 2nd you use ALE data distribution.
The decision is usually based on the data-/systemsecurity policies. An e-recruiting system as connected to the internet. This is often a no go for a combined installation. Installing in another client does not really improve the situation.
In e-recruiting 300 you had the 2 options keep the hr system behind all firewalls and install e-recruiting on a server in the dmz of the firewalls or break down some firewalls for the combined installation. That's why nearly all 300 installations i ever had to do with are e-recruiting standalone installations.
For 600 when using Webdynpro there is a new option you can relay the outside e-recruiting access over a special server via a trusted rfc to the server with hr + e-recruiting behind all firewalls for better data security. Some customers even use this constellation for an e-recruiting standalone instalations although i am not really convinced of this idea.
So in most cases the system landscape is decided by infrastructure and data security / data policy experts. The harder your company policies and the data security laws in you country are the more likely they will request the standalone version.
If the experts mentioned above give their ok for combined installation your start analysing you user structure (who has users for the hr system, will hr tollerate everyone getting a user on their holy cow?) and of course your authorization structure (if you use e.g. managers destop with structural authorizations for manager reoporting you will definately get a challenging project with a combined intallation) and your data structure if you use interal hiring you will need (in standard oriented implementaions g) an employee dataset. if you have subsidaries which have to be integrated in the e-recruiting but not using the same hr core system using a combined installation is in my opinion much more tricky.
When you checked all these points, discussed with network infrastructure guys, the data security policy guys and the hr system owner you make your decision. Both solutions have their advatages and also their challanges but the stand alone installations have in my expirience the majority.
I admit sometimes it works much easier. You go to the HR guys and say "hey we install e-recruiting and plug your system with all organisation, comp. benefit and payroll data to the internet" - 30 seconds later they decide for the standalone version.
Hope that helps you at least for setting up your decision process.

  • Oracle client required for Essbase Installation

    Hi
    I installed Essbase server and EAS server with foundation services in one Windows Machine.
    My RDBMS (Oracle) Is installed on a different Machine.
    Do i need to install Oracle client on my Essbase machine to configure with RDBMS? or Oracle Client installation is not required to configure with RDBMS?
    Thank you.

    You don't need the Oracle client if you want to configure the foundation database as it uses JDBC drivers which are included in the foundation installation.
    The Oracle client is useful if you want to set up Oracle ODBC connections to be used with essbase SQL data loads.

  • CUA Requires new client?

    Hi,
    I need to setup CUA on a 3 system landscape. We use client 400. Does CUA require a new client to be setup or do we set it up for client 400? Please advice.
    Thanks

    Hi
    Sap will not prescribe that one single client to maintain the cua, you can use any one system as parent client and add child systems. for this system it is not required to create client.

  • Mandatory deployment after new client installs

    Is it possible to have an application package mandatory for all new clients? We use Ghost to create our standard images and, after the technician adds the new computers to the correct domain, they install the SCCM client. There are a couple of applications
    that need to be in the domain before they're installed and the techs manually pull them down from SCCM currently. I'd like to automate this process for them, but I don't want the applications to push out to every PC on the domain again since they already have
    them.

    Hi,
    With the new application model, the application will not actually deploy again if the detection method detects that it is installed already. You could use inventory as well to deploy the application to computers not having it already for instance.

  • Creating NEW CLIENT,USER and PASSWORD Please

    Hi ..
    I am having this problem ,I am from SD-module. I am trying to work with sending and receiving IDOC's . Here i have problem with creating another logical system.could u please assist me in creating another client/user/password on my existed system.so that i can be able to send an idoc from one logical system to another logical system.i would appreciate your efforts.
    regards,
    SURIYA.

    Hi
    You can create a client using transaction code SCC4. Then you need to perform a client copy, use transcation SCCL to perform a local client copy from client 000 using SAP_ALL/SAP_CUST profile.
    Once you are done with you need to check whether the parameter login/no_automatic_user_sapstar is set to false (0). This can be achived in transaction code RZ10. You will have to restart the SAP server if the parameter value is altered(if not already 0).
    Once the parameter is set then u can login to the client using user SAP* and password "pass". For performing client copy u will log into the destination client that is the client newly created and using SCCL perform the client copy.
    Using BD54 u can create a logical system and in transaction SCC4 you can assign this logical system to the new client.
    Once you are done with client copy then DDIC user will also be there with the master password given during installation time.
    Using transaction SU01 you can create new users according to ur need and assign the roles/profiles as required.
    Once this is done you can peform the IDOC sending and recieveing activity in between those clients.
    If any more queries feel free to ask.

  • Oracle Client required?

    I am running 10gR2 Standard Edition Server on my computer. When I go to install ODT.NET, it want's to install another Oracle Client in a new Oracle Home.
    It did the same thing when I loaded the beta of ODT.NET earlier this year. Having two Homes was a pain.
    Since I already have all the Oracle Networking I will ever need in my current 10gR2 home, why does ODT require a new Client installation??? I'd rather it just use the home that I already have.
    Is there some way to install ODT without creating a new Home?
    ...don

    Mark,
    Thanks for the response!
    The last time I tried to install ODP, I pointed OUI to my existing Oracle Home, and after the install all my client applications (TOAD, in-house programs, etc) could not find the Oracle DLL's to connect. SqlPlus still worked and my database was still available, but that's all.
    So, I've tried installing to a new home and had to deal with two sets of tnsnames.ora's, etc, and I have also tried installing to the existing home but lost my OCI connectability. Apparently I am doing something wrong. Any ideas???

    With the code, you've presumably logged on to the database. To insert objects on to a new report you'd want to use code along the following lines:
    private void AddTableFromDataSet(ref CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rpt, System.Data.DataSet ds)
    ISCDReportClientDocument rasReport = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
    // Convert the DataSet to an ISCRDataset object (something the ISCDReportClientDocument can understand)
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRDataSet rasDS;
    rasDS = CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataSetConversion.DataSetConverter.Convert(ds);
    // Add the dataset as a data source to the report
    rasReport.DatabaseController.AddDataSource((object)rasDS);
    // Add a field to the report canvas
    // Note: This is quick and dirty. No positioning, resizing, formatting, etc.
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ISCRResultFieldController rfc;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable crTable;
    CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRField crField;
    rfc = rasReport.DataDefController.ResultFieldController;
    crTable = rasReport.Database.Tables[0];
    crField = crTable.DataFields[2]; // Hardcoded field "Customer Name" in the Customer table from Xtreme Sample Database
    rfc.Add(-1, crField);
    // Save the report template to disk (without data)
    //object path = @"c:\documents and settings\administrator\desktop\";
    //rasReport.SaveAs("test.rpt", ref path, 0);
    //MessageBox.Show("Done!");
    For more info, see sample apps on the following link:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/IgBmBQ
    Also, consult your 'Report Application Server .NET SDK Developer Guide" and  "Report Application Server .NET API Guide". I'd provide the appropriate links, but you do not mention the version of CR you are using...

  • SAP* and DDIC passwords for new clients in Sol Man 4.0

    Hello all,
    I just recently finished a Solution Manager 4.0 on Windows 2003 server box. Then, I performed some of the post installation steps until I had to create a new client. So, I went to scc4 and created a new client. When trying to get access to this new client through SAP*, the default password did not work and the entries were not created in the table usr02. Also, I tried to insert the missing entries into the usr02 table, but had no success after all.
    I hope some of you can help on this, because I am stucked on it.
    Regards,
    Luis Alberto Zeró

    Hi guys ..
    i thing you can check in Document Installation guide Solution manager  on Page <b>108</b>
    If you install a new ABAP or ABAP+Java system, in most cases you do not need to perform the client copy for
    the ABAP stack. SAPinst creates three ABAP clients during the installation, client 000, client 001, and client 066.
    You can use client 001 for production.
    The following procedure describes how to perform a client copy manually. We recommend that you
    use client 001 as source client.
    <b>Caution</b>
    If you want to use a client other than the default of 001 as your production client, you have to reconnect
    the Java part to the production client as described in <b>SAP Note 937323</b>.
    <b>Procedure</b>
    1. Maintain the new client with transaction SCC4.
    2. Activate kernel user SAP*:
       a) Set the profile parameter
          Login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 0.
       b) Restart the application server.
    3. Log on to the new client with kernel user SAP* and password PASS.
    4. Copy the client with transaction SCCL and profile SAP_CUST.
    5. Check the log files with transaction SCC3.
    6. Deactivate kernel user SAP*:
       a) Reset login/no_automatic_user_sapstar to 1.
    <b>Caution</b>
       You create SAP system user SAP* on the new client
       before resetting
    <b>login/no_automatic_user_sapstar.</b>
       b) Restart the application server.

  • ABAP proxy client call PI with new client 120 in old business system

    Hi all

    CRM client 100 is already configured in the Business system talked above but now we need the same business system to be configured for client 120 as well.

    Will it work or we need to do some extra configuration for communication channel.

    > since sender is client proxy you don't need to do anything in case of receiver proxy you will be needing reciver communication channel of XI adapter type .
    for proxy based communication your application system(other than PI/XI) should be able to make a proxy call to XI or receive a call from XI .for this purpose you need to make some settings at R/3( or CRM level)

  • Creating new client (via SCC4) doesn't create defualt users (SAP*,DDIC,...)

    I've created a new client (100) via <b>SCC4</b>. After this, I've tried to login at this client with <b>SAP*</b> user and password <b>PASS</b> (i've also tested with the password that i've changed at installation). The message that the system displays is "<u><b>Name or password is incorrect</b></u>". I've been querying the SAP table <b>USR01</b> and the user is not created for this client (only for clients <b>000</b>, <b>001</b> and <b>066</b>). What can I do to login at the system with client <b>100</b>?

    Hi Raphael,
    Thanks for choosing the SRM forum for this question.  But Netweaver or Web Application Platform would be more appropriate for this question.  You can also look for SAP Notes in the BC-CTS-CCO area.  See if Note 41839 helps.

  • Need to clean up my UAT server to add new clients

    In our UAT system we have two clients and need to create few more clients for new projects with existing space, I want to clean up some data.
    Please i need answers for below questions
    1) suggest how can i start cleaning up the server what type of data can be remove ?.
    2) Do we have any program to estimate how much space required to new client.
    Regards

    Hi Ram,
    suggest how can i start cleaning up the server what type of data can be remove ?
    Are you asking to clean up data at the client level or you are asking how to claim space in on the server level?
    Do we have any program to estimate how much space required to new client?
    Yes, when you perform a test run before starting client copy it'll show the estimated space needed ?

  • What key FI config & tables in an SAP installation a client-wide

    Dear Experts,
    I from an SAP Procurement background.
    We are considering utlising an existing SAP installation/client to deploy and SAP in a entirely new legal entity, that is a subsidurairy of the group company.
    What key SAP Finance objects in a client can we not change as this would impact others companies already deployed or cannot not be changed once set-up in a new client?
    If we were to choose to simply copy the global template, deploy this in another client, but stil have the ability to conduct intercompany activities with the other group companies in the another client, what are the key elements that we must retain/keep in synch with the group SAP client?
    I hope you are able to provide me a very high-level answer.
    Thanks,
    Sheena

    Hi,
    Most of financial configuration is company-code dependent. That is, when you want to add additional company code to your project, you can use copy funcitionality, and all the relevant FI configuration will be copied to your new company code. You should only consider the cross-company components, like EC and CO (assuming that you have only basic SAP modules, and not other ones like FM, SEM, etc.). There you have to define to yourself whether this new company will join under the same 'roof' of cross-company objects (Controlling area, etc.) or not.

    Eli
