ECC6.0 and XI

hi ,
I am new to sap XI.
now i am planning to install sap XI in my desktop.
one of my friend suggested me to install ECC 6.0 as it contains both R/3 and netweaver components like XI.
i just want to know which version XI is available in Ecc 6.0 and fully functionality is available or not.

ECC 6.0 contains the NetWeaver stack with connectors for XI, EP, MDM etc.
You will have to separately procure a XI license for connecting it to ECC or other non-SAP systems.
Just buying ECC 6.0 will not result in XI component delivery to you. Its a separate instance. Latest XI version is PI 7.0

  • ECC6 and PI integration design question

    Hello experts,
    We have a customer that is going for ECC6 and going to use PI to integrate with external systems. We are designing the way to design the logic for distributing materials so two options are on the desk and I wanted to ask which one you consider the best one and also if you can mention some documentation about the topic. The options are:
    Option one: To distribute master data like Materials, the Materials are classified under a class using the classifcation for each of the external systems and then using these classes on the distribution model. So whenever a material needs to go for a external systems, it is classified on the corresponding class. The main Con we see with this is that we generate an idoc for each of the external systems.
    Option two: All materials are sent to PI using a unique idoc and the we put the logic for distribution on PI, using data like Plant, Sales organization, material type and so on it is possible to derive the system that they need to be distributed to. This way only one idoc per material is sent to PI and the PI will send the messages wherever they are needed.
    I hope I have explained it ok

    as we don't know your context and your complete business scenario, it's difficult to say "THE" solution is ...
    Else by what you say, I would prefer the option 1, because:
    - you can managed easily different scheduled job (time of extraction) depending on your different Legacy needs (perhaps your legacies are localized in different countries, so different timezones). You can use the same extraction program with different variants.
    - you limit the risk to only one legacy sending if something is wrong with your idoc. If you have only one big idoc to split, the risk of a pi mapping dump will be for all your legacies. is it in compliance with your business ?
    - If you have only one idoc, and do the split in PI based on plant, sales areas, material type, etc... that means when you will change one of this structural data , you (in fact business or functional) have also to think that you have this data also hard-coded in PI mapping and/or in a receiver dertemination condition, so somewhere in the 'technical' side (e.g middleware). Well could be a real nightmare and 100% of chance that you will have an issue. And see previous point, issue could be global.
    - with only one idoc split in several messages for several legacies, when you will have a new legacy or have to remove one, that means you will have also to change the spliting mapping, and so in theory you should do regression tests for ALL your legacies, and not only the new one.
    there are probably other points of view, but here mine with what you explained us.

    I have found an exmaple on the web of using javascript (it opens a child window that polls the parent window, and invalidates the session if the parent window is closed). I agree there always appears to be loop holes around most of th e solutions i've come across.
    I had the same idea about invalidating any previously known session for the same userid, I'm pretty new to the java/web app world so I'm struggling with finding the information I need. I couldn't find any methods to call to invalidate another session, I only came accross example where the current session invalidated its own session via call to the session object, do you have any idea how I would do that for other sessions.

  • ECC6 and display of PO

    hello all.
    we are migrating to ECC6 from 4.6C and one of the issues we encountered, is not crucial but it is annoying.
    when creating a Purchase order and/or a purchase requisition, after saving and switching to the "change" /"display" transaction, we do not get the last displayed/created Preq/PO.
    what needs to be done in order for this to happen? in 4.6C it worked .....

    Following are the basic differences as far as MM Module is concerned;
    Pickup list - Batch where-used list display in transaction MB56
    u2022 Until release 4.7, the top-down and bottom-up analyses in the function pickup list for batch where-used list (transaction MB5C) were displayed only in the form of simple output lists. As of release 6.00 of SAP ERP Central Component, the function pickup list for batch where-used list branches to the batch where-used list itself (transaction MB56).
    u2022 In addition, user can define how the data in the batch where-used list is displayed, in the initial screen.
    u2022 User can use all the settings available in the batch where-used list. For example, he can expand transfer posting or display vendor batch. However, it is not possible to limit the selection to valid plants in the initial screen of the pickup list.
    Usability enhancements for transaction MIGO for the posting of goods movements
    u2022 For goods movements that refer to purchase orders as reference documents (for example, goods receipt, goods issue, subsequent adjustment), user can specify the ordering plant as an additional selection criterion directly next to the purchase order number and the item number.
    u2022 There is a new default value: "copy account assignment fields." When entering other goods receipts, user can copy existing account assignment data from the previous item to use as the default values for a new item. To do this, user has to set the copy account assignment fields indicator in the default values.
    u2022 User changes the default values in the menu path "Settings -> Default Values."
    u2022 Goods movement is monitored with reference to a material document. When you enter the following goods movements, it is possible to specify a material document, such as the following, as the reference document:

    New report : display list of invoice documents (MIR5)

    u2022 The software determines the relevant requirement priority (overall priority) of a material requisition from the combination of requirement urgency group and organizational priority.
    Mass maintenance of outline agreements
    The following two transactions available:
    u2022 Mass maintenance for contracts: transaction code MEMASSCONTRACT
    u2022 Mass maintenance for scheduling agreements: transaction code MEMASSSA
    Commitment plan for purchase contracts
    u2022 With the function of the commitment plan for purchase contracts, it is possible to pre plan value consumption for a purchase contract.
    u2022 To this end, a commitment plan is generated for each document item of the relevant contract.
    u2022 This commitment plan itself can have any number of items.
    u2022 User can define a value and a validity date for each commitment plan item.
    u2022 This enables user to pre plan different values for different periods of time.

    Availability check in "Enjoy purchase order and requisition"
    u2022 Display and checking of availability are invokable separately in the "Enjoy purchase order and requisition" function, in line with the software behavior on the sales side.
    u2022 User invoke the display and checking of availability in the "Enjoy purchase order" function (transaction code ME21N) and the "Enjoy purchase requisition" function (transaction code ME51N) as follows:

    Customizing transactions OX18 replaced by view
    The assigned customizing transactions have been replaced by the following view in the following implementation guide activity in customizing for the enterprise structure: Assign plant to company code: transaction OX18 replaced by view V_T001K_Assign. One will find this activity in the implementation guide under the menu path "Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Logistics General -> Assign Plant to Company Code."
    Goods receipt: new movement types in inventory management
    The following new movement types are available in inventory management:
    107: Goods receipt to valuated goods receipt blocked stock
    109: Goods receipt from valuated goods receipt blocked stock
    Prepayment of invoices
    This functionality is characterized as follows:
    u2022 User can trigger prepayment of vendor invoices in logistics invoice verification.
    u2022 User use the prepayment function for vendors with whom organisation has a good, long-standing relationship.
    u2022 The function enables payment soon after issue of the invoice and full exploitation of the date of required payment and existing cash discounts, by posting the vendor liabilities, taxes, and cash discounts in financial accounting in advance.
    u2022 The software executes the payment of the invoice regardless of the relevant goods receipt and the outcome of the invoice verification check.
    u2022 Most logistics invoice verification standard functions are not affected by the prepayment function.
    u2022 When the software posts invoices, it continues to execute the standard checks.
    u2022 If the software has already posted the prepayment document, user can make only restricted changes to the header fields of the invoice.
    u2022 To ensure adequate and orderly financial accounting postings, a prepayment clearing account has been added to SAP ERP Central Component.

    Purchasing accounting information to the former SAP Business Information Warehouse
    u2022 With the transfer of the purchasing account information to the former SAP Business Information Warehouse component (whose functionality is now part of SAP Net Weaver), it is now possible to maintain Info Cubes, reports, and queries that can determine how and where the costs from purchasing documents have been assigned and controlled.
    u2022 As part of the software, a new data source (2LIS_02_ACC) has been created and the purchasing extraction process extended to cover the account information for purchasing orders, schedule agreements, and contracts.
    Automatic settlement of planned delivery costs with evaluated receipt settlement (MRDC)
    u2022 A new report (RMMR1MDC), available within the logistics invoice verification, can be used to automatically settle planned delivery costs.
    u2022 To invoke the report, from the SAP easy access screen, choose the menu path "Logistics -> Materials Management -> Logistics Invoice Verification -> Automatic Settlement -> Automatic Delivery Cost Settlement" (transaction code MRDC).

    u2022 This functionality is not available in Release 4.7.
    Stock Transfer Between Storage Locations
    u2022 Function of stock transport orders between storage locations is available from ECC 6.0 onwards.
    u2022 As a result of which user can input issuing storage location with supplying plant.
    u2022 Facility of using different delivery types for different issuing storage locations is available.
    u2022 Shipping Point data can also be determined based on the issuing storage location

    Is the Treasury and Risk management product delivered as a standard part of ECC6 or is it an add on component. I have been searching and cannot find the answer to this question. Also, is there a portal business package for treasury available.

    In ECC 6 it is delivered as part of mySAP licence. There is no additional charge.

  • SP66 import - after this Upgrade 4.7 ECC6 and UC - SPAU only once?

    we have the following scenario for a SAP Enterprise 4.7 that should be put to ECC6 Unicode by CU&UC:
    1. we need to apply SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA support packages to 4.7 from 56 to 66
    2. normally you have to do a SPDD and SPAU during this procedure
    3. we do an CU&UC after the application of the support packages
    4. SPDD during and SPAU after the CU&UC is needed
    My QUESTION is: Can we omit the first SPAU (point 2.) and do a single SPAU after the CU&UC ?

    Why do you need to apply support packages from 56 to 66. Club them all in upgrade. Then you have to do single SPDD and SPAU. SPDD you can do during upgrade. And SPAU after unicode conversion.

  • Upgrade to ECC6 and Unicode: Passing HTML

    We are experiencing new issues related output on our Web page URL.
    Iu2019d like to convert the internal text table, t_html (now in Unicode-I assume utf-16), to contain the old hex values(I assume utf-8), before the Unicode upgrade. Or, convert the text table from utf-16 to utf-8.
    First, and most importantu2026.Is this possible?
    If so, I assume these are the steps I need to do, and am asking for suggestions::
    step 1) Transform internal table t_html to hex (so I can covert it from utf-16 to utf-8?)
    step 2) Convert the utf-16 hex values (Unicode) to utf-8 (old hex, non-unicode).
    step 3) Transform the converted t_html back to text so I can pass it out in its usual fashion.
    What would be the easiest approach (or not easiest approach, if necessary) to do this?
           I am open to any and all suggestions, this has been a struggleu2026.Thank-You

    Please try to the Refreshing the User Caches in the UME from System Administration > System Configuration > UME Configuration > Support. Refer to the SAP Note 1118873 - UME Cache settings for Netweaver
    Also look for default trace log file for more details about old user issue. May be Old users are not synchronized in UME.

  • DataSource for FAGLFLEXT and BSEG, or New Table in ECC6?

    need to create an extractor to have all the information of FAGLFLEXT, because we need to keep the ledger information and the split of the information. However, we need to add 13 fields contained in BSEG.
    Therefore we thought to reads the line items table FAGLFLEXA, and then enhace it throught BSEG table.
    However, since we are using ECC6 and BI7. It is not support the creation of DataSources for FAGLFLEXA throught FAGLBW03.
    Is it an option to incorporate all fields into FAGLFLEXT.
    Can we creat a new table group based on FAGLFLEXT, and then adding the coding block extensions to that table -
    how does new g/l and the new table group work in parallel? Which is the procedure to do it?
    Documentation says we can create a new table group based on FAGLFLEXT --- its the how does it work in conjuction part...for example...the new g/l handles document splitting and one other thing georg referenced last night...will the split documents go into our new table group?
    BSEG does not have the document splitter information that we need (it's incomplete data). It's missing profit centers on many items, it's missing the proper split of transactions.

    Client situation:  Our client is implementing ECC 6 and is using the "New-GL" features.  Because of business requirements, the coding block has been extended (not insignificantly - 18 extra fields at the moment) to accommodate legal, regulatory and management reporting.  The reporting solution includes standard ECC reporting (e.g. report writer, report painter reports) as well as feeds to BW (BI 7).
    The Challenge:  Our understanding is that adding all of the coding block extensions to the New-GL tables (ie. FAGLFLEXA and FAGLFLEXT) may lead to performance degradation in the ECC system.  However, we still need to accommodate the requirement to report by the additional dimensions that are not currently included in the New-GL, so our challenge has been to find a solution that minimizes performance issues, while still allowing us to have all the necessary dimensions with which to do the required reporting.
    What we would like to know:  How have you handled this in similar situations?
    Have you added to the New-GL tables? How many fields? Performance issues encountered?
    Have you created additional table group(s) based on the New-GL and then modified that structure to have the new fields?  How does the additional table group work co-incident with New-GL (e.g. does the additional table group receive document splitting information?)?
    Have you created custom extractors for BW?  On what basis (we understand that FAGFLEXA cannot be created as a datasource to feed BW)?

    At our client side some are using  ECC 6 and few are on EHP7.We need to define the release strategy in a such a way that both the user can approve the PR in cross system.For example- user A is  using ECC6 and he created PR ,now he need to take approval from his manager and manager is using the system EHP7 in such scenario-
    how does the system understand who is the approver?
    How to maintain the same user in both the system? so that approval process can not be disturb .
    What about the release code ? how to define release code in both system for single release strategy

    We have ECC 6.0 as live system but getting used in only A & B country.We bought new fresh,blank system EHP7 for C county. We defined release strategy in EHP7 but we have HR module in ECC6 .So all portions are defined in ECC 6.
    For example- I am creating PR in EHP7 & last level approver is in ECC 6 .
    The issue is, in the ECC 6 system  how will he get the email notification of approval mail.?in EHP7 there is no HR module configured.
