Epson scan documents but cant select area!

I can scan some pages but but some pages the software that comes with snow leopard selects an area and only scans that. I turned off detect area and makes no difference. If I go to the show details page It says there was an error. It still allows me to make adjustments in the like select area or scan black and white but it stills selects whatever area it wants to and wont let me simply scan a whole page most of the time.
I plugged the printer into my wifes brand new macbookpro and it does exactly as described above and that uses the snow leopard drivers the system auto installs as well so it can be a problem with the computer

For any generic Apple driver problem, this is the procedure to sort things out :
Found the solution though :
1 - Reinitialize Printers
2 - Re-install all drivers from Epson
3 - Reconfigure printer by clicking "+" in the System Preferences > Printers and Fax.
4 - Be VERY careful to choose your printer in the menu, as it will appear under Apple driver
and under Epson name. For mine, Epson name ended with TCP/IP (even though I was configuring in Wifi).
5 - Click and it's done. I have again the draft options and so on.
I did it for one Epson Multifunction and one Samsung laser printer. It works.

My documents on pages have been deleted from my ipad. I have logged into icloud from a windows computer and can see all my lost documents, but cant seem to get them back on my ipad. HELP!

I opened up my pages app and the document i needed opened up automatically, i turned away from my ipad to log onto my computer only to find when i look back at my ipad that ALL my documents have been deleted!! It is very important i get these back as i have an assignment to hand in tomorrow and ALL my revision is on their for my exam in 4 days time. please please please help me get my documents back onto my ipad? I have logged into icloud on my computer and can see the documents but cant work out how to get them back on my ipad???

I am unable to attach scanned documents or Pictures to eamils. The size of the scanned documents and the pictures are well below the 20MB limit. I can connect Exl and Word documents with not problem

When trying to attach a scanned document or picture to and email, the process goes not forever and there is no end, it just keeps working and tries to attache these documents/pictures. In the lower left hand corner of the screen it says "waiting for mail. yahoo. com"

In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

Scanned document but it doesn't show up anywhere...

Everything seems to connect and work but after the scanning is done both computer and scanner (Brother MFC 7820n) just sit there...nothing loaded Preview or anywhere else.
Any suggestions???

I think I am using brother control center but I just see a "scanning" dialog box on my screen during the process.
Based on what you wrote, I gather that you invoke scanning on the Brother machine. That is fine, but to set preferences...
1. Is there a Control Center icon on your menu row? It looks like a mini version of the following:
If no, you can launch the app from HD/Library/Printers/Brothers/Utilities
If yes, click the menu icon and select Open
2. In the Control Center window, click the button Configuration, then the popout option SCAN, and then the popout option File.
3. In the Scan to File window, you should see parameters for setting File name file, File type, and Destination Folder. There is also a check box for "Show Save As window" which would allow you to customize the destination for each scan. Click image below to see larger version.
Note: The above is based on OS 10.5.8 and although my memory is rusty, it is very similar in OS 10.4.x

Scanner scans document but refuses to load the file into photoshopo 9

After scanning and saving over 60 documents and pictures into a tagged folder in Photoshop 9 the program stopped allowing the saving of new files as the on screen instructions said the image already existed and that it was not a supported file. The image was saved as a jpg.
Please could someone advise me as to how to correct this problem?
The scanner will copy any document. The scanner will preview and scan any document via - file - get photos and videos - from scanner but, after agreeing the quality of the file and being told photoshop is transfering the image, the on screen message is shown and nothing can be saved.

to be more specific, on OTN (and in the 11g doc library) there is a small manual about how to install the examples media - called "Examples Installation Guide" (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/install.111/e10402/toc.htm). this manual includes the URL and instructions for downloading the examples.

Scanner scanning documents but showing Blank white screen

When I click on scan,The status is showing as in progress,then the preview is not showing any image just showing blank white color.

Hi Avinashaaaa,
Try and make a copy to see if you get a blank page.
Were you trying to scan from the ADF or the glass?
Make sure there isn't a paper on the ADF and the glass at the same time.
Try scanning from the other one to see if you have the same results.
I would do a hard reset if you are still having issues.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
The scanner mechanism bulb might not turn on when trying to scan, copy, or fax.
There are two main causes for this issue:
It could be the scanner bulb temperature is too low or there is an internal or external electrical malfunction.
Please keep the scanner lid open and then press the copy button.
Check if the scanner bulb glows.
Also to see if the scanner moves freely across the glass.

Need Help - Acrobat 9.4 won't open scanned documents

I have a computer in my office that will not open scanned documents in Acrobat 9.4. Acrobat opens but is just a grey screen. Documents that were converted to PDF from Word/Excel/etc. will open just fine.
Adobe Reader 10X is also installed on the computer and will open scanned documents, but user needs to be able to go in and edit documents, so Reader is not enough for him.
Any troubleshooting ideas greatly appreciated.

Since scans are images you need to go to Edit > Preferences > Page Display and put a checkmark in the box for "Show large images" This should allow you to see the scans.

How can I make Acrobat stop shrinking scanned documents??

ustrated in the fact that every time I scan a document for various purposes, the end result has been shrunk
so that only certain areas of the document are seen in the .pdf file. It seems to happen
especially with documents with alot of lines. My goal is to scan a document, and have it look exactly like the document with no shrinkage. Please help!

I have the same issue with my Xerox Documate 152. I'm trying to create a fillable form from a scanned document, but I need the user to print only the fields onto an original form.
When I scan the document -- and I've tried it as a .pdf and as a .tiff -- it is significantly different from the original. When you hold the two up together in light, you can see how the scanned one is completely misaligned. Looks like nearly a half inch vertically and maybe about 1/16th of an inch horizontally. That means that when I create the form from the scanned document, the fields do not print onto the original form in the right places.
This isn't an Acrobat issue given that the same problem occurs with a .tiff file, but does anyone have a solution? The scanned document simply doesn't match the original. I can't find an answer elsewhere online.

If I attach a scanned document to a mail, it's impossible for the persons receiving my mail to open the file

I'm a MacBook Pro user and scanning documents with an hp Officejet 7500A.
If I send a mail with an attached file, SCANNED document, the person receiving my mail will be totaly unable to open it.
If I send the very same mail, always with my Mac computer and attaching the very same scanned document but using my professional mailbox wich is NO MAC MAIL, things are working perfectly well.mail.

Try right clicking the file on your desktop, and compressing it, then send it to the intended recepient. Of course you will want to advise them to extract the document from the *.zip file afterwards. A ZIP file is sort of like a briefcase for other data, you put it inside and send that fully intact for the other person to open. Good luck, let me know if it fails.

Is there a way to have Adobe Acrobat run in the background while scanning documents?

This was working fine up until last week and then all of a sudden, the scanning program overrides anything else I'm doing on the computer (such as typing an email, etc). I'm not sure if a recent update removed that setting, but I'd like to be scanning documents, but not have to wait until it's done to have my computer back. Does anyone know how to change this?

My organization is having this same issue. Our scanners were using 9.2 Acrobat standardard to scan. While they were scanning, they could switch focus to another application and work while scanning continued in the background. Now, the twain driver grabs focus at the start of every page. This must have happened because of an upgrade. Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated considering this has affected our productivity.

Editting a scanned document

Hello everyone i am new to this forum. But i am going crazy trying to figure out how to make changes to the text of a scanned document but not change the background picture. is this possible with adobe acrobat? if not any suggestions?

Acrobat's OCR methods Formatted Text and Graphics (Acrobat 8) or Clear Scan (Acrobat 9) more readily lend themselves to editing.
With that said it is not always like falling off a log in the river.

Saved Selections are Black Not White

I was working on an image and made one selection, which I then saved as an alpha channel. It saved properly with the selection area white and the rest of the image black. I made another selection and saved it as an alpha channel, but the selected area was black, with the rest of the image white - which of course is the reverse of what it should be.
I tried some other images, made selections with various tools and each time I saved them as an alpha channel the selected area is black with the rest of the image white.
Why is this happening?

Thank you for your responses. I am able to invert the selection once it is made, but my query is to why my selection area initially was white (as it should be) and then suddenly all my subsequent selections are black.
I can invert them, as you point out, but isn't the selected area supposed to be white when I first make the selection, rather than having to invert the selection afterwards?

Does anyone know of a good A3 photo scanner compatable with OS 10.8 mountain lion? I need it to scan watercolour artwork. I was interested in Microtek scanmaker 9800XL and also Epson Expression 10000 but neither are compatible. Thanks :-)

How full is the hard drive that you are trying to save to? Not that it should matter, but have you tried scanning another document?
Is the scanner plugged directly into the Mac? Try it that way.
Disconnect all peripherals except keyboard, monitor, mouse and scanner and see if the problem goes away.

I want to delete the last 2 sheets in a Pages document. I select them in the thumbnails. But I can't delete them. The 1st pages, the ones I want to keep, are the ones that are deleted. What do I do?

Every page in a Pages word processing document is "in a section". It may be the only page in its section, or it may be in the same section as several other pages. From the behaviour you are describing, I'd suspect your document has two sections: section 1 contains only Page 1, section 2 contains pages 2 to 6.
When you click on the Page 6 icon in the sidebar to the left of the page, you'll see a yellow border around all or part of that page icon.
If the yellow border contains only page 6, then Page 6 is in a section by itself, and pressing delete will delete only page 6.
If the yellow border contains page 6 AND any other pages, then all of the pages within that yellow border are in the same section, and pressing delete (while the icons are selected) will delete all of the pages in that section.
To delete only page 6 (the last page in the document) you need to either:
Delete any text content (including invisible characters, and preferably including any other objects) on that page, following the suggestions by Peter above,
OR
Click immediately after the last text character on Page 5, then go Insert > Section Break to place Page 6 into a section of its own. Then click on the Page 6 icon in the sidebar, check that the yellow border encloses only page 6, and press delete.

PS: It's pretty easy to add extra pages to a document without seeing the invisible characters that cause the page to appear. Not as easy as it was in Appleworks, fortunately where the personal record for one of my Grade 5 students was a 3 page document with over 1000 extra blank pages sent to a printer. AppleWorks read the enter key as a column break (which acts like a page break on a single column document). On a keyboard with a number pad, enter is in a very convenient location to rest a book (or an arm) while thinking about your writing (or chatting with your neighbor).

Scanning a document but only offer in file names are image options

I am trying to scan a document but my only options in the file names are image file names (.jpeg, bitmat etc...) I tried running the HP fix I found in another forum answer, downloaded and ran it, ran a test scan and saw all sorts of options including pdf. My test scan ran great, and my document scanned in as a .pdf. I then tried to scan again but again my only options were as an image file names. I restarted my PC but still the same issue. I am running windows XP.

In the print dialog of Acrobat choose 'Form fields only'.
