Error on Bootup

Hi guys,
I have been having the same issue issued posted in a different section of these forums (Link to the post: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=187921) however, mine is slightly different. As you can see someone suggested in his post to post the result of the command "systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service" his status of the backlight service, he did and when I ran the same command we had different statuses. So I am guessing that we have different solutions to the problem. My command resulted in the following:
[vrajpatel@VArch ~]$ systemctl status systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service
● systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service - Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of backlight:acpi_video0
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/[email protected]; static; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: inactive (dead)
Docs: man:[email protected](8)
[vrajpatel@VArch ~]$ systemctl start systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service
Failed to start systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service: Access denied
Please help, I want to rid this error from boot up because it is annoying and extends the boot time.

Your command resulted in the following.
[vrajpatel@VArch ~]$ sudo systemctl --state=failed
UNIT LOAD ACTIVE SUB DESCRIPTION
● systemd-backlight@backlight:acpi_video0.service loaded failed failed Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of backlight:acpi_video0
LOAD = Reflects whether the unit definition was properly loaded.
ACTIVE = The high-level unit activation state, i.e. generalization of SUB.
SUB = The low-level unit activation state, values depend on unit type.
1 loaded units listed. Pass --all to see loaded but inactive units, too.
To show all installed unit files use 'systemctl list-unit-files'.
Also I am sure that something is wrong because before I posted this I looked through the journal using command "journalctl -xe." Here is proof:
Jan 12 17:00:23 VArch systemd-backlight[1478]: Failed to get backlight or LED device 'backlight:acpi_video0': No such file or directory

When I press F1 my laptop just continues booting with no problems and when I press F2 it just goes to bios. And sometimes on startup a window opens saying it needs to install a PCI device, I've pressed install but in the end it always ends up saying failed to install cause of unkown PCI Device. Other than those two problems/messages my laptop runs fine. But still I'd like to fix this problem just in case it might turn into a bigger problem in the future. I hope someone can help me out. I'm not really computer literate. Thanks

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has replied to you about this? I have the same problem and even though the computer still works, its just really annoying to hear the two loud beeps. Especially when I'm studying in a very quiet library!

  • [Athlon64] Serial ATA Drive Not found Error on bootup ATI Radeon RS480M2-IL

MSI "RS480M2-IL" ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Chipset Motherboard For AMD Socket 939
I have just built an Athlon 64 system using the motherboard stated above. When I boot the system up, I get an error message stating that the system can not boot up from the CD 95% of the time.  I then use Ctrl-Alt-Del and the system boots up just fine.  I have the BIOS set to search the hard disk first for boot up before looking at the CDROM and I still get this error. I believe it can not find the hard drive due to timing or what???
We did load the MS XP 64 bit operating system at first, but we found that there were ot enough drivers available. We then did a quick format and loaded the the MS XP Pro operating system after that.  Everything works fine except for this error message we get 95% of the time on bootup. We are using a serial ATA 80 GB Western Digital Hard drive and a Lite-On dual layer DVD burner(IDE).

    Hi,
until I was using BIOS 3.2, the system works very fine. After upgrading to BIOS 3.3, my system usually did not boot after cold restart (button) but then after warm restart (ctrl-alt-del) always started. It was not usable because I use scheduled starting of PC to record TV programs. Every cold restart SATA boot drive boot was not found but after warm restart everything OK. So I reflashed back bios 3.2 and the system works perfectly again.
    Any one similar experience?
p.s. With 3.2 BIOS I am very satisfied with this motherboard and its stability. But not sure about future upgrading BIOS :-(

  • Itunes dll errors, APPLE SYNC error on bootup, sync error.....solution!

One brilliant guy came up with this solution in this forum and has worked on 5 straight PC's. The thing is, I found another thread that helped also. In addition to this, if you are getting the Apple Sync Error, or still have problems after doing this procedure, go into uninstall programs and remove the MobileMe application. It is appearing to be a major contributor to the errors with Apple Sync! Thank you for your help guys!!!!!!
Okay, we're going to uninstall both iTunes and Apple Application Suppport this time. When we reinstall iTunes, that should reinstall Apple Application Support as well. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions along the way too. Best to print these instructions out, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
    Preliminaries
Download and save a fresh 64-bit iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line and don't start the iTunes install just yet.)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL925
Now, quit QuickTime (if you have that open) and Safari 4.0.4 (if you have that installed and open). Both applications use Apple Application Support, and they will interfere with the uninstall if you have them open.
    Uninstall phase
Head into your "Uninstall a Program" control panel. Uninstall iTunes. Uninstall Apple Application Support.
(From this point on until we reinstall Apple Application Support, neither QuickTime nor Safari 4.0.4 will be able to run.)
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
    (1) Open "Local Disk (C:)" or whichever drive your program files are stored on.
    (2) Open the "Program Files (x86)" folder.
    (3) Right-click on the iTunes folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
    (4) Staying in Program files (x86), find and open the "Common files" folder.
    (5) Open the "Apple" folder.
    (6) Right-click on the Apple Application Support folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Now empty your Recycle Bin and restart the PC.
    Reinstall Phase
After the PC restarts, do not open any other applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunes64Setup.exe file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.

Thanks to all on this thread..  same problem, same solution.
This time it was on Win 7, the setup worked fine for awhile, and then SWMBO "did something" and it stopped working.  Much debug later, found the log message and realized that there was a streaming problem, but could not figure out if it was the router, my wireless network (I'm using it tied to my existing wireless network) or what.  New hardware, fully up to date firmware..  Argh!
I finally found this post, found the offending file ( ..\Users\xxxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Preferences\com.apple.iTunes.plist ) and simply moved it to another folder.  Restart iTunes, and all is copacetic.
Clearly this is a software issue in iTunes, and is happening accross HW and SW platforms for better than 2 years now..
I love the device, but the only reason I have it is to drive the stereo.  They should fix this one...

    hello all.
I made my first raid and arch64 setup. everything is working and its fast
My laptop (asus g71v) suports raid, and i've managed to get it to work with windows and linux, using intel raid setup in bios.
I'm using dmraid to create the fakeraid devices in /dev/mapper and system boots. But I can see this errors. It looks that linux is trying to acess the discs directly and gives structure errors.

  • Nvidia Display Driver Error on Bootup

    Hello all,
I installed Boot Camp 3.1 and when I rebooted, after logging in on my windows drive, I get 2 display error pop-ups before my desktop appears. I uninstalled all the display drivers manually, used a driver cleaner, and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers from Nvidia's website, and I am still getting the error. The display looks correct on the screen, and I haven't noticed any issues with the display yet, but I was wondering if anyone else has this issue or knows of a fix. Thanks for the help!

Got this too. interested in answer.

If the router is working fine then the output of show version would help identify what code version it is running. The output of show flash would be helpful in establishing what IOS image files are present in flash. And the output of
    show run | include boot
would tell what images the router has been told to try to boot. One possible explanation for these symptoms is that the configuration has boot system statements for images that are no longer in flash. If that is the case then it would be easy to change the boot system commands to point to the images that do exist in flash and this error at boot time would be resolved.

  • Upgrade HDD using Time Machine, but no Snow Leopard DVD, only Leopard installation DVD = kernel error on startup

    Hi guys and girls.
    Background
I have a MacBook Pro (March 2009 vintage).  It was loaded with OS X Leopard on a 250GB HDD.  When Snow Leopard was released, I upgraded using a DVD bought from Apple.  In time, I added an external USB HDD to use for Time Machine Backups.  I am now, however, knocking up against the capacity limit of the original hard drive.
Given the above, plus the fact that I no longer appear to have the Snow Leopard DVD (upgrade version I believe) - what is the recommended way to get back to my old setup (files, OS, settings etc), but with my new, larger HDD?
    So far I have tried:
    1. Formatting new HDD as Mac OS Extended (journaled), GUID partition having booted using my original (Leopard) installation DVD.  I then selected the latest Time Machine (Snow Leopard) backup.  After a couple of hours of restoring from that backup, the system restarted, but had kernel errors on bootup.
    2. As above, but when formatting, chose to zero all data.  This had the same end result.
    Questions:
    1. Are the kernel errors I'm experiencing due to the mismatch of booting off Leopard and restoring a Snow Leopard backup?
    2. Would finding my (or even a) Snow Leopard upgrade DVD help?  If so, how?
    3. What am I doing wrong generally?  I do like to try to understand these things!
    4. As above, what is the recommended way of doing what I'm trying to do, given the limitations of release DVDs etc.
    Many thanks

Simplest thing would be to buy the retail SL installation disc ($20 USD) and use it to do the migration. There might be an issue trying to use a SL TM version with Leopard.

Smart Init is disabled. IOMEM set to: 10
    Using iomem percentage: 10

thank you sundar, I've loaded IOS version c3640-is-mz.121-27b.bin and the router booted up fine with the previous errors.
However...........upon bootup the router is trying to load "call rsvp-sync" and "dial-peer cor custom"

    How do I stop this???
Upon bootup I receive this message too.

Does the router still think 12.2 is in their somewhere?
Is that because I have this boot statement?

  • /Sbin/lilo -v error message(new kernel ..problem moot)

    The message:
         Setup length exceeds 31 maximum
Kernel setup will override boot loader.
Please advise as to what "setup length" is and I may get the problem solved.

This is the extent of the lilo entries which aren't that many.  I assume there is an error in the typing somewhere or my boot file is messed up.
    # /etc/lilo.conf

  • Satellite 1800-712 - CDRW/DVD Combo IDE#1 error

original SR-R2102 stopped reading discs, bought a new SD-R2102 on Ebay but the laptop won't recognise the drive. Shows IDE#1 error on bootup and drive does not show in hardware in Device Manager (the old faulty drive shows). The new drive has a Compaq sticker on it. Been reading other posts on forum, seems the drive is not compatible even though it appears to be an identical replacement. Any way of getting it to work? Hoping someone can help.

    Hi
Every CD or DVD drive can not work properly with every notebook model. It is the same drive model but it was used by another notebook producer. Normally it should be adjusted to be slave. Maybe is there some difference.
In my opinion you can try to make BIOS update. If the error occurs again than is drive not compatible and you can contact Service partner and ask them for some opinion.
