ESS Roadmap Translations

Dear All,
I was trying to do translations for ESS Roadmap Banks.
However, I've modified the Message Pool XLF files and it still doesn't reflect with my change.
Can anyone let me know where is the right place to make the changes of translations of the roadmap (Overview --> Edit --> Review and Save --> Confirmation)?
Sincerely,
SE

Thanks very much for the information about VC FC CC types.  I'll check and find out the details.  Can I please confirm with you guys is my below coding right
I'm setting context attribute values on the Dropdown onSelect method as follows
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setCom01("HOME");
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setNum01("12345678");
The above coding is fine, but there are other 2 com and num fields which are not getting updated in the backend.  I must say here that this is standard implementation and these fields are not introduced by me.  This is Sweden Addresses screen.  The standard screen is not working for other 2 communication subtypes.  The other 2 subtypes I'm trying to update is
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setCom02("XXXXX");
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setNum02("12345678");
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setCom03("YYYYY");
this.wdContext.currentSelectedInfotypeElement().setNum03("abdscdc");
so I'm just trying to track if portal is passing all the values correctly to the backend function.
Thanks
Praveen

  • ESS Roadmap - Remove stage

    Hello All,
Is it possible to remove a stage from the ESS roadmaps? i.e. in create travel expense, I need to remove the third stage 'Record Expense Receipt'.  Is this posible without coding?
    Thanks,
    Nick.

Even though if you use FPM framework editor via Self Service Administrator Role, the system throws RFC Dump after making the 2 or 1 step roadmap.
By searching on the sdn forums, SAP says that they are going to fix this bug with next release of ESS version.
Still need to search notes if there is such any for this RFC dump of removing road map stages.

  • Translation of English content into another language in Life an work events

    Gurus,
I am trying to setup life and work events for various countries. We have "before you start" HTML pages for all the different countries we are implementing the life and work events and each country has its own language. Now, my question is to find out if the content should be manually coded in each country's native language or is there any translation mechanism that can be used within the life and work events of the ESS to translate the English content to another language?
I also noticed "Add translated resource" inside the "Create Content Package object". I dont know, if this can serve my purpose. Could anybody please suggest how the translation of content can be achieved?
    Thanks,

What is the best practice or approach for copying the standard portal ESS content and home page config for various countries that SAP does not deliver as a standard?
    Refer to SAP note 936179
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPHCM/HowtoReuseCountryspecificapplicationsforMolga99

No you will have to manually create iViews for new countries....
    Maria...it works like this..
1.. First to select which country structure suits most your requirement...
2... You reuse that country structure and create services specific for your country...
e.g. You reused structure of US Address Data to create a service for Polland Address Data....
3... Now if required you can create an application specific to your needs in NWDI specific to your service...(If enhancements are required)
4... Create an iview in PCD....for this you can copy the existing iview for the country that you reused in step 1...
i.e. Copy US address data service and paste it with name Poland address data....Update its "application name" property with new web dynpro application name you defined in step 3...
Wotever above is written is not specific to LWE....
For LWE you need to go through an additional step :

  • How to change the ESS objects, iViews and Pages, translation in the portal?

    Hello everyone,
I'd like to change the standard SAP translation for iView and Pages in the Portal level. Does anybody knows how to do this?
My landscape is NW2004s and  ESS  for  ECC 6.0
    Regards
    Luciano

you can change the standard SAP iViews and Pages using the Portal Content Translation feature of the Portal ( go to Content Administration->Portal Content Translation. Follow the instructions at
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/25/08174082fe1961e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
all ESS iviews and pages have their content "ready for translation" and you can use the instructions above to translate that content.

  • Translation text for ESS MSS

    Hi  ,
I am having issues with translation in the WD Java files ,in the ESS MSS Business package.
After transport , some of the texts are coming in English and soome in German.
    e.g
in personal information - some texts are coming in english and some in German .. Can anyone let me know what can be the issue .
    Best Regards
    Siddharth

    Hi Siddharth,
can you check if the language properties of the "german" iviews have the value default .
they might have changed back to the initial setting,
Or : when you created the translation files, what was the content of the default textfile ?
Was that changed as well ?

  • Is it possible to translate MSS/ESS WDJ content without using NWDS?

Hi there, is it possible to translate MSS/ESS WDJ content without using NWDS? CTRL+Right Click allows only to hide the text element, portal content translation doesn't allow to translate Web Dynpro Java content.

    Hi,
Using CtrlRight click you can modify the names, hide the text . on the ESS/MSS ivew's preview  and cTrlright cllick.
then you will get options to hide, change the text . etc.
For deploying, changing  the WDJ files you need NWDS. without NWDS it's not possible

  • ESS and MSS objects translation and localization

    Hello,
we are implementing ESS on our ERP system and I have problem with translation of standard objects in ESS (pages, worksets, iviews). If I copy standard objects into new map, change default language on user to english, I can edit and rename objects and it looks fine. But when I change language to Slovenian (localization), I don't see anymore previously edited names but it gives default translation. I have even tried to translate objects in Slovenian language but the filed to chage name is closed and can't be edited.
Does anybody have the same problem and maybe solution for this?
    Thank you,
    David

    Hi,
what do you mean with ess?
are you working on netweaver developer studio with web dynpro or in abap workbench?
    regards.

  • ESS Translation - Mixed Languages

    Hi,
ESS Standard Applications are rendered as a mix of ENGLISH and FRENCH (eg Road Map / certain Fields), where as the language of the user is set to FRENCH.
User sets the language via Change Language drop down in the masthead - custom feature (where UME API is used to update the language of the user). Our Portal datasource is AD LDAP. Where as in the same system (Development Portal) all standard MSS applications gets translated properly in French in the same Portal session. So issue is only with ESS.
We checked the JCO and it is set to BLANK.
    Any inputs please?

Yes - these are standard iViews (directly tested from SAP ESS Role).
Verified below : Please see -
    1) JCO is NOT maintained blank (Mantained blank is the ideal to get the browser language) - JCO is set BLANK already ie
    SAP_R3_HumanResources
    SAP_R3_HumanResources_MetaData
    2) Iview property Forced language is wrongly maintained; - As in SAP Standard iViews.
    3) User has incorrect language settings; - User language is set to FR using UME API. MSS standard iView Translates fully in FR.
    4) Browser has incorrect language settings; - Browser had US-EN and CA-FR in that order. I had tried with CA-FR only. Still loads with a mix of EN and FR.
    5) Particular language is not installed on portal; - How to check this?
    6) Wrong customizing in IMG; - Standard (doesnt need additional IMG customizing). Custom ESS Role (Services, XSS Menu
area Descriptions etc are successfully getting translated in FR) -> Issue is only from standard WDJ applications (mixed language behaviour). Home page framework is getting translated successfully.

  • ESS - Translations management

    Hi everybody,
I have installed ESS into SAP Portal. ESS works fine with any languages (EN IT FR )
The standard interface displays messages like :
"Employee Self-Service applications provide you with
easy access to information and services for employees.
This page gives you an overview of the entire offering."
This is a standard text displayed into the framework page.
I would like to change this kind of text for languages EN IT FR.
I know there is a way to do this under the IMG menu :
Cross-Application Components -> Homepage Framework (Overview) -> Resources -> Define Resources
    and
Cross-Application Components -> Homepage Framework (Overview) -> Header and Area Group Pages -> Define Area Group Pages
But It seems that is not the best practice.
I looked at the SE63 but all translations doesn't seems to be there (into table T7XSSSERSTRLAN there are only EN and DE texts)
Where can I change texts translation for any languages according the best practice ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Christopher,
    Thanks for your answer.
Actually, my standard translations works fine. By example when my browser's language is set to "English", message is :
"Employee Self-Service applications provide you with
easy access to information and services for employees.
This page gives you an overview of the entire offering."
But when my browser's language is set to "French", the message became :
"Les applications de l'Employee Self-Service vous permettent
d'accéder facilement aux informations et aux services destinés aux salariés.
Cette page présente une synthèse de l'ensemble de l'offre."
My problem is I can't find translations into R/3 (by example the french text) although I'm logged with FR language. And theses translations are existing (because my browser displays the relevant translation according to the language).
I would like to know where are stored theses SAP standard translations for ESS in order to modify them.
Are they stored into the java Package (portal side) ?
    Thanks in advance
