Estimate Cost on Split Valuation Materials

Dear Experts,
We have split valuation on MM for almost 2 years. But we have since then the following problem:
We have this split valuations:
For finished products (FERT) we have 01 and 02 for valuation types
For semi-finished products (HALB) we have 03 and 04 for valuation type
The problem is that when we try to calculate the estimated cost with CK11N and CK40N, the cost only is assigned to the material itself but not to the valuation types. I don't know if I made myself clear, this is an example:
*Material * ----- root ------ valuation type 1 ----- valuation type 2
Cost       --------  X   --------------   no -------------  no
With this we are force to use Tx. MR21 to asign cost.
Please anyone help.

HI,
When you run the cost estimate, only the base material price will get updated.. you cannot expect the price of valuation types to get updated..
because the valuation type prices will be changing as per the wish of the plant....

How can i maintain different prices for split valuated materials
For Eg.  I have a material split valuated based on its Quality vendor supplies two diff quality materials with different prices
how to maintain the prices in inforecords or any alternative to maintain both the prices.
    With regards,

    hi..
Split valuation is for Valuation Purpose only...
SAP does not support....Procuring same material with Diff. Split Valuation Type from Single Vendor is not allowed by SAP standard..
You cannot Maintain Purchase Info for Material which is having 2 Split Valuation type......with One Vendor......
Because For One vendor and One material combination, you can maintain One split valuation type only....
    Hope it works..

  • Transfer posting of split valuated materials

    Hi guys,
During transfer posting (mvt type 311,313 and 315 )of split valuated materials valuvation type should not be changed by user , please suggest how to do this?
    thanks and regards

    I am curious.
Is you material batch managed or do you use split valuation without batch management?
What happens if the user changes the valuation type?  I expect a warning or even an error message.
do you get accoutning documents then?

  • How do I update standard cost for split valuation material?

We are using split valuation on our maintenance material.  Maintenance material is held in an inventory account separate from our production material.  We have materials that are set up with a Parent material as variable, and child materials  which are NEW or REFURBISHED or CORE.
The Child materials are set as standard cost.  Some of the standards are old.  Unlike our production materials, which have their cost standards on the Costing 2 tab of the material master, split valuation child parts have their costing on the Accounting 1 tab.
I attempted to update a cost standard by loading a future price manually in the material master.   I was able to load a future price, but could not get it to release in CK24.
I have been unsuccessful in finding a process or procedure that tells me how to update a child standard once is already exists.  There was one blog that said that the standards could only be released using CK24N if the quantity is zero.  I attemped to update costs on part with zero quantity on hand. This was also unsuccessful.
I am looking for a process- ie 1) load a future cost using tcode XYZ, 2) Mark and release cost using tcode XYZ, 3) validate changed inventory value using tcode XYZ.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

    Hi Govind
If your valuation variant reads MAP as the strategy sequence - Then average MAP will be taken... i.e. the MAP in the parent accounting view of the material will be taken
However, if your strategy sequence is intended to look for info records, then follow the link given in the earlier reply

  • Vendor Consignment for Split Valuated Materials

    Dear All,
We have a scenario where in our material is split valuated,we have 2 valuation type import and Domestic, both the valuation type is being supplied by a single distributor, the price of the import valuation type is different from the price of domestic valuation type.
We are trying to configure consiginment process for split valuted material. While maintianing consignment info record, we are not able to maintian separate info record for import and domestic valuation type (since material /vendor/plant/purchase organization are same).Hence while doing goods issue using 201 K, the system is taking the price from the info record. Is there any solution available, to post the  goods issue for import valuation type at a different price and domestic valuation type at different price.
    Thanks,
    Vairavan.

How system will pick the info record price for movement type 201 K ?
As of my knowledge, system will create accounting entry as per the material price (MM03 - Accounting 1 view for the valuation type)
It may create problem for 411 K movement type, but not for movement type 201 K.
If you need to pick different price as per valuation type, then you can do this via condition table.
Have a look into the discussion Info record Price on the basis of Valuation type

    HI
I have changed the material price for the material whcih are maintained with split valuation ie. in MR21 i could able to change the price for valuation types only.. i'm not able to change the main material price , its asking to enter the val type?? how to change the the price ?
Ex . Mat code : MAT 123, having val types as IN and OV, which has price control of S, here i have changed the price for the val types IN & OV, but i'm not able to change the  price for the main material MAT123, which has price control V?? how to change it

    hi Samuel,
    We have a similar case, need your help;
Case: Split valuation is activated but parent has price control "V" and child i.e. diff valuation types have "S". We want to make std prices of all valuation types "0". It is done but the parent still shows value in MAP.
    a. How do we make MAP of parent as "0" (price control "V")
    b. Will it impact and how e.g. MB5L
    c. Is it ok if we ignore the valuation of parent
    d. All valuation types under parent are made "0"

  • Physical inventory document creation for split valuated material

    Hi
We are doing stock count in our company. We are using split valuation for some of the materials. When I tried to create a PID for split valuated material which are not in stock, system issued a standard error message. What I understood from that error message, we can create a PID for split valuated materials which are in stock. Is it so? If so, then how can we count split valuated material?
Let me know if you need any info.
    Thanks in advance..
    Jeny...

Please refer to SAP note 30254 and it should help.
    Symptom
If you create a physical inventory document for a material in a storage
location without existing storage location segment, error message M7006
is displayed: 'Material & (material number) & (plant) & (storage
location) does not exist'. Thus, a storage location segment is not
    created automatically for this material.
The same also applies to the batch segment. The batch segment is also
not created automatically but, if a batch is specified for a material
when creating a physical inventory document, that is not yet created for
this material, error message M7042 is generated: 'Batch & & & & does not
    exist'.
The same applies to the special stock segments which are also not
created automatically. Different error messages are generated here
depending on the special stock (see also Note 64448).
    Additional key words
    MI01, MI09, MI10, M7076, M7183, M7184, M7185, MARD, MCHA, MCHB, MSKA,
    MKOL, MSKU, MSPR, MSLB
    Cause and prerequisites
If no storage location segment or batch segment or special stock segment
exists to a material, this then means that a goods movement did never
occur before in the system to this material (batch) to this storage
location (special stock), that is that the material (batch) never had a
stock to this storage location (special stock) in the system before and
that it was never posted before on this segment. It is therefore not
possible to carry out a physical inventory for such a material (batch).
It is different, if a goods movement has already occurred to a material
(batch) to this segment and if only the present stock is zero. A
physical inventory is then necessary and also feasible for this material
(batch) since the different segments are not deleted automatically in
the moment in which the stock becomes zero.
    Solution
For a material for that no storage location segment, batch segment or
special stock segment exists, it is not necessary, to carry out a
physical inventory on this storage location or for this batch or this
special stock. If, however, a quantity is physically found to such a
material, the corresponding segment must be created before the physical
    inventory.
There are 3 options to create storage location data:
           -  maintain the 'Storage' view in the material master for the
              material and storage location or
                                                                      Page 2
           -  use the 'Enter storage locations' function in the material
              master or
           -  post the first goods receipt (providing, the automatic
creation of storage location data is permitted in the plant
              and for the movement type).
There are 2 options to create batch data}:
           -  create the batches in the material master manually via
              function 'Create batch'.
           -  post the first goods receipt for the batches to the respective
              material.
You can only post the various special stock segments via posting a goods
receipt. An exception is special stock 'K' (vendor consignment). You
must define a consignment price in the material master for this special
stock using the 'Create vendor consignment' function before a goods
receipt can be posted for this special stock.

  • More than one standard price in case of split valuated Material

    Hi Experts,
I have came across one requirement , where one plant is doing trading as well manufacturing of the same material.
So this material is Split valuated . In case of own production , no problem in costing i have made the production valuation type as default in OMWB so price is getting release based on Qty strcuture.
For the purchased material , i need to read the cost component of the producing plant ( consequently in COPA the break of the cost of the material)  and there will be certain overhead cost that needs to be added to come to the total cost of the purchased inventory . The cost of the purchased inventory will be used for inventory valuation.
    So my question is :
Is it possible to do the costing run based on two method - in case of valuation type -produced based on own Qty structure and valuation type Purchased -read the cost of the selling plant + additive cost ( for own cost) and relased to Material.
or any other better approach ?
    Thanks

Yes, you can achieve that with mixed costing, by maintaining a procurement alternative for each of the valuation types.
Take a look at these links for all the details:

  • Raw materials on MAP with split valuation used in standard cost estimate

We have a few raw materials which are purchased from different vendors and of different brands. We have opened split valuations for these raw materials. These raw materials are later used in manufacture of different finished goods. We use MAP for raw materials and Std. for finished goods. What configuration and processing steps will be required to run standards cost estimate and what will be standard price for a finished good considering the following example:
    Material X is finished good
Raw Material A with split valuation @ USD 5 (brand aplha)   &   USD  10 (brand beta)
Raw Material B without split valuation @ USD 1
It is expected that we used brand aplha 60% of the time and brand beta 40% of the time and production batch size is usually 100 Kg.

Edited by: Chris SAP on Sep 29, 2011 7:56 AM

    hi chris
Hope you have configured the material A for split valuation. while calculating standard cost estimate for the material C. through ck11n, the system will pick up the header price from material master.
But here you are saying that you have chances of using the material A, 60% of brand alpha and 40% brand beta
Instead of using split valuation use mixed costing concept. create the material A with separate Ids and create two boms one with alpha and the other with beta.
create procurement alternative in CK91N and mixed ratio with Ck94 and release the mixed cost estimate

  • Split Valuation Material Cost Estimate into COPA

    Hi all,
Is there any way how we can transfer the split valuation material cost estimate into COPA?
I checked the actual line items, there is no "valuation type / batch" characteristics there.
    Is this the main cause?
Please kindly suggest on the best way to solve this issue
    Thank you very much
    Regards, Erwin

    Hi, Ajay
Does this mean that, even though i manage to create the valuation type as characteristic in COPA, i won't be able to get 2 different cost estimate based on valuation type into COPA?
Hm, then, are there any solutions which can be done to solve this issue?
The client needs a COPA report which can show the breakdown of the sold materials cost estimates
As usual, thank you very much for your help

  • Split valuation-Preliminary Cost estimate

    Hello,
Is it possible to create a Prelimnary cost estimate for split valuated material.Relevant Proc alternaitves crtd
    Pls help

    Hi,
In the case of split valuation only header and not the valuation
    type is costed.
If one material has split valuation, standard price will be released
only for header segment (valution type blank). You have the possibility
to release standard price for in-house production segment, if you set
the 'Default'-flag in the customizing transaction for splitted val.
(OMWC) for the val. category 'X'.
Please check the note 552486 that contains information about
    this context. (Question 10).
Alternatively you might created mixed cost estimate to release prices
for each procurement alternative that is associated with an val. type.
The only way to mark and release a standard costing per valuation type
is by using the functionality of mixed costing. That means that you
have to define a quantity structure category and define a
procurement alternative based on a valuation type of your material.
Afterwards you have define a mixing ratio for your material and the
    defined quantity structure category.
Based on this mastr data (procurement alternatives and mixing ratios)
it is possible to carry out a mixed costing, one part of this
mixed costing should be a cost estimate based on your valuation type.
If you mark and release the mixed cost estimate the system will
set the standard price on valuation type level (prerequisite:
you have the define the procurement alternative based on the
    valuation level)
For more details please have a look in the R/3 documentation for
mixed costing or contact your consultant.
Please refer to NOTE 552486 (FAQ):
"Question 10: In the case of a split valuation, why can the prices only
be updated in the internal segment?
Answer:In the initial standard SAP System, only the header segment is
calculated and the price is updated only here. However, if the "Valuation
type 'in-house production' mandatory" flag is set for the categories in
Customizing (Transaction OMWC), it is also possible to update the price
in an internal segment. For external segments (procured externally) this
does not make any sense in general. However, mixed costings can also be created and updated for several segments via procurement alternatives."
Setting this flag will take impact on materials WITH split valuation
in the future. New prices will be released for the in-house segment
in addition to header segment in TA CK24.

  • We need to manage raw materials by vendors(makers).(about Split valuation)

    Hi all.
We just  started a project to install SAP system.
Our client need to valuate their raw materials by vendors(makers).
For example : raw01(3Cm*3Cm steel hot coil) is sold by VendorA, VendorB, and VendorC.
Raw01(from VendorA,  B, and C) are same materials but the price is largely different by vendors(makers),
just as raw01(VendorA)'s price is 1,000/EA,
           ,     raw01(VendorB)'s price is 1,500/EA
         ,and raw01(VendorC)'s price is 2,000/EA
So our clients , expecially finance dept and purchasing dept, want to manage them seperately.
Finally we consider about split valuation(batch valuation with valuation type).
But Our concern is as below:
    1. System Performance : The number of GR is 1,000 / per day.
It means that the batchs(1000EA) will be created everyday.
    2. In case of raw mat, we want split valution.
All material type use Batch : Our material types are raw mat, half finished good, finished good.
They will be managed Batch number.
But we just want to manage split valution in case of raw material.
Now we consider all cases which can be occured.
    Please give us good advice.
    Best.

  • Split valuation for Finished Goods - Target cost was not updated

    Hi,
We are following split valuation for 'Finished goods'.
Valuation typte 1 is for 'manufacture' and
Valuation type 2 is for 'External procurement'
For production orders with this material, we are not getting target costs. It is showing zero.
We have done release of standard cost estimate before creation of production orders and goods receipt for these orders. But still it is not updating.
    Pls guide me.
    Regards
    MadhuSekhar Gupta

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
At the time of variance calculation only the credit part of target cost will update and at the time of goods receipt debit part of the target cost will update.
Our client has done goods receipt but debit part of the target cost was not updated. and the order status is DLV.
I simulated the scenario in QAS by creating new finished goods materials (Industry-Construction) one is with split valuation and another is without split valuation, then the debit part of target cost was updated at the time of goods receipt and credit part was updated at the time of variance calculation for both the materials. So this problem was not arised because of split valuation.
Was this problem arising because of the material master data, because for one material it is updating and for another it is not for the same configuration?
