Every time I upgrade to a newer version from 3.6 it takes Firefox a long time to start from my desk top, why?

The newer versions such as 4.0 and 5.0 run fine AFTER they launch, but they take a long time to launch when I click on the icon on my desktop. All other browsers including Firefox 3.6 launch immediately, I have had my PC checked it is not the problem. Is there a patch that I need to download?

The iPhoto version that is currently available at the App Store os 9.5.1 and requires the Mavericks OS X. The early 2008 24" iMac can run Mavericks. Once you have Mavericks installed (it's free) you can purchase iPhoto 9.5.1 from the App Store.
If you don't want to upgrade to Mavericks you can purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com and install iPhoto 9. Then up trade it to 9.4.3 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads website: Apple - Support - Search

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

I upgraded to itunes 10.7.0.21 and now every time itunes starts it crashes within a few seconds!

The error window sais the fault is " KERNELBASE.dll". I also installed on a test PC that has a trail version of Windows Web Server 2008 R2 and the exact same thing happens...
Now I have no PC to sync to and no music/movies.... Any ideads??

I had the same problem. New iPhone 5, had to install iTunes 10.7 on windows 7 64 bit. The install worked, but it crashed immediatly after startup (no window, nothing.) I tried repairing the install, and still nothing. When I read the post above, I saw that it was Quicktime related, and remembered I was also prompted to upgrade Quicktime too, which I chose NOT to do. So I went back and upgraded quicktime.. and VOILA.. it WORKS. iTunes now runs, and I'm in the middle of restoring my old iPhone to my new one. (fingers crossed)

Sounds like some software application is started when you restart your computer. So, we need to find out just what is automatically attempting to log in when you do a restart, go to:
System Preferences > Accounts >
Click on your account
Click on Login Items

Is this normal every time I start up DW and a new site?

Every time I start DW it wants to update its location, when I first installed it I moved it to a different folder but only once. Is that normal? Also, when I start a new DW site it tells me that "the root folder you have chosen is inside the folder for site "other site name". This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly. Proceed anyway?" It says this even though the file that I choose for it is alone on my desktop, not in another folder. Thanks for your help!

The welcome screen is loading every time I start up Firefox (version 5)

Every time I start Firefox up, the "welcome to Firefox" screen is loaded in a second tab. I don't want it to load every time. The first time I launched the program was enough.

If you have a 2006 or 2007 model you can upgrade it to Lion - 10.7.x. If it's a 2008 or later model you can upgrade to the current version of Mountain Lion. Doing so requires Snow Leopard 10.6.8:

TD, LN - You guys make great points and I will take you at your word. Normally, I would not hesitate to update. I have a lot at stake here with a large vacation coming up with a great many new pictures anticipated. I don't know enough to understand what is meant by "verifying my library." Please give me some insight there and I will start the upgrade process tonight! Seriously, I have wanted to do this for some time, but have been scared away by reading too many situations on these forums.
TD - you have a good sense of humor. I know all versions eventually need to be left to die away. Support is not eternal. I am sure I missed the announcement that certain versions of iPhoto would no longer offer the ability to conveniently make cards, calendars, books, etc. Like the original poster, I was surprised to learn my version did not offer that functionality only by requesting it and getting denied. Sort of frosted me at the time, as you can tell by my original reply here.

I have just upgraded to the new version of itunes on windows 7. I have just added 8 albums (Mp3 format) to my itunes library, synced with my Ipod classic and my wifes ipod nano, the albums have transferred to the devices but wont play when selected. Yet they will play in itunes.
When I select the album on the ipod, it opens up as normal but when you press play nothing happens other than a wining sound from the hard drive of the ipod.
My itunes library is a mix of itune purchases and mp3 purchases and this is the first time I have experienced this issue

On both of my laptops that upgraded to the new version of Firefox, chat feature doesn't work anymore. It still works on my 3rd laptop that I didn't upgrade.

I have 3 laptops. On 2 of them I upgraded to the new version of Firefox recently when I was prompted to do so. Both of those laptops now have trouble with chat . My 3rd laptop I have not upgraded to latest version and the chat still works. Either fix this or I have to use a different browser. I need to chat for my work. Is it a USB hard drive? USB hard drives have the problem of not giving full speed if they are hooked up on the same bus as keyboards and mice. Double check your profiler to make sure that is not a problem. If it is Firewire, make sure there aren't other firewire devices in use at the same time. I recommend not only keeping a Time Machine backup, but also a clone, and if you do use Time Machine, to make sure the Time Machine drive or partition is at least twice the size of the original drive.

Actually, there seems to be a bit of a bug. Encountered this with a couple of files my wife made. The files were set to "open with" the new Keynote, but clicking the file brought up this error. Right-clicking and selecting "open with..." worked correctly. I can only assume the OS was attempting to open the file with Keynote '09 despite the file property setting.
Probably requires a Launch Services DB reset (although I haven't actually tried it on my wife's MBA yet...since she's still "working on stuff". So I can't confirm if it will solve the problem).

SSIS 2014 Custom Component: "The component metadata could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component."

I recently upgraded my set of custom data flow components to use the SQL 2014 SDK as we are upgrading to SQL Server 2014 RTM. The only change I made to my custom components was to change the references to the following DLLs from version 11.0 to version
12.0:
Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap
Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap
Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS
Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost
After rebuilding my assembly, adding it to the GAC, and placing it in the appropriate directory structure (the 120\DTS\PipelineComponents directory for both the x86 and x64 versions), my components no longer display in the SSIS toolbox in SSDT. In
addition, whether loading up my packages in SSDT or executing them via the SSIS catalog (in SQL 2014), I get the series of error messages below. I do have a PerformUpgrade method implemented in my packages that has worked successfully through previous
component upgrades. I also found this seemingly relevant thread (Custom
SSIS Connection Manager error message in SSIS 2014 (RTM): The connection manager '' is not properly installed on this computer.) and tried modifying the extensions.xml script, but I was unsuccessful with this approach (though I could have done so
incorrectly).
Validation error. DFT Process Changes: DFT Process Changes: The component metadata for "xxx, clsid {874F7595-FB5F-40FF-96AF-FBFF8250E3EF}" could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.

Please also update the reference to the SSIS assembly Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\120\SDK\Assemblies folder to the version 12.0.0.0. Besides, rename IDTSxxxx110 objects to IDTSxxxx120.
It may also be the factor that the custom mapping file is not created correctly. You can make a copy of the built-in mapping.xml.sample file, rename its extension to XML, and then edit its <ExtensionMapping> attribute:
