Filtering union report

Hi,
I've built a union report with 2 criteria.
1st Criteria : Contact Relationship Subject Area
Contact ID | '' | Related Contact Relationship | Related Contact ID
Filter 1 : Contact ID belonging to user(filtered using a separate report)
Filter 2 : Related Contact ID belonging to user(filtered using a separate report)
2nd Criteria : Contact Subject Area
Contact ID | Contact State | '' | ''
Joined using Union Set.
I created a pivot table to get the Contact State for each Contact ID.
Problem im facing is that for each Contact ID there is a blank row. How do I remove this row?
Also the results I get show me all the Related Contacts even those not belonging to the user.
If I filter the 2nd Criteria Column Contact ID to show the records only belonging to the user, then i get results showing all the Related Contact IDs including those not belonging to the user however the rows which do not belong to the user show up as blank.
How can i remove the blank rows of data?

    Hi All
    Can we apply saved filters to union reports in obiee 11g?
    I am able to apply saved filters for normal reports but not for union reports.
    The catalog pane is blank, when i click on result columns or each criteria.
    The only option i see is to manually create the filters for each criteria, dont i have any choice to use a saved filter for union report?
    Is this a bug or something i am unaware of , Please guide me.

    I get the same issue. I thought that it's a problem in a security - the catalog pane is clear in a union report. But saved filters work in 11g. I migrated catalog from 10g to 11g and I see saved filters in the conditions. But you may add saved filters directly into xml. Go on Tab Advanced and edit Analysis XML. You have to add code like this
    <sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:savedFilter" path="/shared/FOLDER/_filters/FOLDER/FILTER_NAME" name="FILTER_NAME"/> in a right place.

  • Creating Union Report using 3 different reports in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0

    Hi Gurus,
    This is my first time where I am creating a union report, I have a urgent requirement to create a union report using 3 different reports and it has 3 common dimension columns and each report has 3 measures and a measure label, and 1st report measures has to show $ amounts with column names ,2nd report measures has to show % with column names and 3rd units with column names, the result should be in pivot with all columns and measures ,can someone please help me with steps to approach,I am really confusing with the results when i tried, I really appreciate your inputs.

    Addendum: I've tried it with CSV instead of XLS. Again, the repository appears to work just fine, but in Answers I get this message, similar to the Excel error:

    Did one any of you started development work on 11g? If so have you created Union reports in 11g?
    I am facing two issues afte creating Union reports.
    1.I am unable to sort the columns. (Report is automatically sorted according to alphabatical order)
    2. I am unable to create New calculation Item.

  • Union report in obiee 11g problem

    HI,
        I build union report in obiee 11g.In that report i have one column i.e Financial month.I have excluded Financial month column in table view.
        Now my requirement is I have to show results based Financial month at dashboard.For example if i select particular month in dashboard prompt,that month data has to reflect on dashboard.
        For getting results I created one dashboard prompt i.e Financial month and kept 'is prompted' at report level.But am not getting results means if i select any value from Financial month prompt then the report on         dashboard will not reflect.Please help me how to get data based on Financial month.

    you said about writing query in DB.......whether U meant of trying checking the query in toad..or something else..........
    Since im giving only one join from dim to fact in the physical diagram........
    But more than one join exist between those dim and fact, but im giving only one join mainly the primary key column of the dimension table to the fact table....Whether i need to give all the joins that exist(even if it has 2 or 3 joins between those fact and dim) tables....
    If i give count distinct means it is giving count for every nation as 1....like i mentioned below
    NATIONALITY<----------------------------------------------------->NATION COUNT

    Since you said to check about depts of the particular column....i couldn't able to understand about "depts" that you meant????

    In Crystal Reports, to prevent the ability to drill down into a subreport when published on the Web, add a text object that is filled with blank spaces, created by pressing the 'Space Bar' and 'Enter' for line returns, to eclipse the subreport.
    This workaround is applicable only to subreports that does not grow in size. For example, subreports that display only a chart or graph.
    Steps to Add a Text Object over a Subreport
    1. In the Crystal Reports Designer of the main report, insert a text object over the subreport.
    2. Resize the text object to be the same size or a little larger than the subreport object on the main report.
    3. Fill the text object with blank spaces created by pressing the 'Space Bar' and 'Enter'. This is necessary because resizing a text object without
    the blank spaces will not maintain its size when it has been published on the Web.

    NOTE:
    You can format the text object with a hyperlink to another report, another file or a URL.
    ====================
    Now, when the Crystal report is previewed on the Web, the text object that fully eclipses the subreport will prevent the ability to drill down into it.

  • Query regarding drill down in Union reports in OBIEE

    I have a report which is the union of two reports coming from difft subject areas.
    I have a column A in both the reports.In the union report of these two reports I'm trying to apply drill down on column A.
    The drill should take me to another report which is again a union report.
    When I click on the drilled value say A1 it doesn't show me data careesponding to A1, but intead of it this drill report gives me data for all the values under A A1,A2 ,A3 etc.
    I'm not sure why the drill is not working.
    Any special steps to be follwed when applying drill on union reports?

  • How to supress zero values in a union report in obiee11g?

    I have a union report using two subject areas in obiee 11g.
    I have  added the price column from the first sector area and dummy column from the second sector area.
    I have  added the parity column from the second sector area and dummy column from the first sector area.
    Then i added result column to divide them.
    I need to calculate the avarage for each column, but because of the dummy columns that return zero, the calculation is wrong.

    I have created an union report which displays the Daily and Weekly count together. But i am confused on how to give a drill to this report.
    The problem i am facing is i need to distinguish between the dail and weekly report. I have creaetd an column as well but when i filter it out conditionally it gives me an error.

  • Bug: Prompt on Union Report

    I am using siebel analytics. there seems to be a bug with the dashboard prompt. I have YEAR and MONTHS_BETWEEN prompt, it works with individual report but when used with union report it doesnt work as required. Is this a documented bug or am I going wrong somewhere?

  • Rank function on Union reports

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement where i have 2 reports the first report is a single and simple report where i have to show top 10 countries based on a measure value and it should have a section break on country which i have achieved the same using a rank function.
    Another report which has got 20 union reports but rank function is not working the same way as a single and simple report, i couldn't get any possible solution for this. Any pointers would be much appreciated

    I did not get you, what exactly you mean keeping the rank in outer query? i have used rank function in each of the 20 union reports.

  • Union reporting involving null fields.

    Hello ALL;
    I'm new to OBIEE and the following is a query on 10g.
    I use the union reporting using dummy/null fields as the Subject areas are built in a way that they don't include all fields one report would need at my work place.
    (Let me know if I could work otherwise)
    Suppose I have a, b fields from S1 and c from S2, I implement the following approach:
    S1 a b 0
    S2 a 0 c
    What I expect to see is:
    Result a b c
    What I see is:
    Result a b 0
    a 0 c
    I see two records with one ID(feild a).
    Could anyone help me on this, please?

    Goto Table View in the answers, change result column formula to avg(saw_1 by saw_0).

    I want to restrict the records where A= 0 in the union report.

    In report1 let the column be as it is ,why are you changing the f(x) to case statement.Did you check is data there in that column of report1.
    In the union report make tat dummy column as 0 or 1 accordingly as per your requirement.So it would retrieve all the values of column of report1.
    Check the join conditions established and play with the joins like give a full outer join and check if the data is coming including 0's if so then you can pply filter on that column saying column not equal to 0,so the remaining values gets populated.

  • Sorting not happening in Union reports

    Experts, we upgraded from 10g to 11g. I have a union report on which Sorting was working in 10g but sorting is not happening in 11g. Is anybody aware of it how to solve or is there any parameter in any of the config files which can make it work?

    Give more extended information please. What is 11g version? Is it excluded column? Does column have an alternative sort column?

  • Drill Through on a Union Report

    Hi All,
    I have a report which is a union of similar requests . So the final report is a Code with amount ( the code name is derived from the union of 2 columns from 2 different tables). I am tryinbg to give a drill through on the amount to a detail report. Is there anyway i can pass the Code name to the detail report since its a union report.

    Hi,
    Drill through is not possible on the Union reports. To achieve the drill through functionality you have to create the logical column in the BMM layer and use the logical column in the presentation instead of making a union in the presentation. If you use the logical column from the BMM layer you can use the drill through function.
