First article -Inspection lot issues

We maintained 0101 inspection type and 04 inspection type in the material master. we maintained the Quality info-record with the profile and we maintained usage as 5 ( Good receipt ) in the inspection plan ..Inspection lot is creating for the production process , but not for the first article and it is directly receiving in to unrestricted type . Any input will be highly appreciated

Inspection lot is creating for the production process
Because you set up the inspection type '04' in the material master, an inspection lot is created when you make GR for production order.
but not for the first article
SAP does not support any inspection type for the first article of production order.
The inspection type '0101' is relevant to purchasing process only, not production.
it is directly receiving in to unrestricted type
Check the inspection set up in material master and select check box of 'Post to inspection stock' for inspection type '04'.

Has anyone successfully implemented first artlicle inspection during manufacturing ?
Also during purchase order receipt we can have first article inspection via the Q info record. This workss fine to have the 0101 inspection type for teh first article. However if the first article inspection lot is not dispositioned, the system does not allow me to receive subsequent lots.It says "No inspection lot can be opened for vendor and material". Is it possible to allow the system to allow subsequent receipts to take place though the first article is open ?

You create first production order for a material (SFG/FG) and completes the production order make the GR..stock goes in to quality with inspection lot generation..Now till the time this first inspection lot is cleared system should not allow create/release the second production order for the same material..
is this the requirement ????..
if yes... then it is not possible in standard SAP...you need to go for some enhancement...

Flag for First Article Inspection report

Hi
My client wants a report to flag the part number for First Article Inspection which was lapsed in production for 2 years.
Historic data is coming from SAP Complex assembly manufacturing solution ( CAMS) and can be extracted using BODS and data is coming from SAP ECC too.
The requirement is to pull the Part number, Part description, Revision and Date manufactured from CAMS and ECC to BW on Hana database and flag the part number which was lapsed 2 years for production.
Please advise me how I should go ahead for this requirement .

I've been hearing about FAI.Does anyone know what is First Article Inspection?Which Industries use FAI?Is it something like a Source Inspection?

First article inspection as I understand it means that you set up an agreement with a vendor to produce a specific part. You have such trust in the vendors ability to perform that you only inspect the first shipment of the material. If the material meets all requirements of the contract, you are assuming that all future shipments will be similar and you do no more inspections.
I think the standard SAP process for this would be Dynamic modification where you up the rule to inspect once and then have like 9999 skip lots. Some places set it up with a time limit, like 365 days. So that you inspect at least one shipment a year.

In SAP is there any standard functionality for First Article Inspection. It is
better to have all the transaction and inspection reports in

First Article Inspection is similar to first part appoval that is inspection of new part which is first time received from supplier. Can we record the result of this inspection ? Is there any standard functinality. I understand we maintain Q info record. But then we can not enter inspection results for first part and not even track rejections and approvals.

QM inspection lot issue

hi,
I am learning the QM module and initially i intregate all QM setting (from material creation to inspection plan )and also make an inspection lot mannually, later i know that it generate automatically after good reciept.
but again i do after making PO and Good Reciept then i go to QA11 transection but the inspection lot is not generated yet
Please suggest and guide me how i get it automatically or what i change in previous configuration

Hello Maashish,
The cycle is to GR -> Inspection lot CRTD -> Release the lot if required in QA02 (optional) -> Record the results (QE51N) --> Usage decision (QA11)
Now the lot might have been created but not released because you have not assigned an inspection plant with a task list to inspect the material. So you need to get your master data ready first i.e Master inspection characteristics, Sampling procedure, Sampling scheme, then task list and Inspection plan.
Once this is done and when you do GR the Lot will get created and sample calculated based on the inspection plan assigned. you then follow the cycle I mentioned above.

Inspection lot per HU instead of batch in inter company stock transfers

We are testing intercompany stock transfers and we face the following problem when we check inspection lots created at the receiving plant: one inspection lot is created for each HU, while we want one per batch.
We multiplied tests with many combination on material settings on inspection type 01 (which is inspection type used on inspection lot):
u2022     with or w/o u201CInsp. for HUu201D
u2022     u201CControl inspLotu201D: blank, 1, 2 or X
without success!
Letu2019s me precise that inbound delivery is created automatically from goods issue at issuing plant because we activated SPED functionality (then Hus numbers are directly taken from outbound delivery to inbound delivery).
Also we noticed something that could help understand the problem:
1.     when issuing plant picks HUs into the warehouse, they confirm TO via RF transaction (LM61). As a result, outbound delivery as a main item and there is a split by several sub items, as many as HUs confirmed
2.     when we test the picking confirmation out of a non RF transaction (LT12), there is a main item but only sub items per batch (qty is then aggregated)
What is maybe interesting to notice is in the first case, inspection lot at receiving plant is created per HU while in the second case, it is created per batch!
Second behavior is what we require but RF pick confirmation is mandatory for us!
Is there any chance to change QM behavior in that case?

thanks for your replay. It is very helpful.
Option A
1) The finish goods would be are already release and that does not go with our Q-policy.
2) Does this mean, I have an inspection lot at the point of time of GR from production to warehouse and another inspection lot at the time of delivery. That would mean I double my work? And the time of delivery happens one day after GR from production but the Q-results still need some more days. I do not see how this should work.
Option B
1) What do you mean by multiple GR to the warehouse storage location?
Where do I have to activate the copying option for the inspection lot?
Here I see the problem still existing. The result of the MIC has not been found out yet, the UD can not be done and I do multiple goods movement to the warehouse. What is the lelp? If I could make several stock transfer from the q-stock within the inspection lot that would be the best.
May I am thinking wrongly but the best would be to keep the stock in the q-stock. Does a suitable BAPI exist where I could program a logic to it or what do you think?

Sap qm first article process?

We are trying to implement the first article process, does anybody know the process in sap to flag(identify first article) for the parts newly received into sap? Is there any t-code or existing process in sap?

Thanks very much for your kind response, I feel very lucky to know someone has implemented similar First Article process before.
I have some questions to clarify:
1). How to deal with scenario of receiving material from different suppliers? Our first article inspection should be the combination of material and supplier(e.g. supplier A's first article got accepted does not mean for the same part we do not do FA from vendor 2, vendor 2 still requires first article)
2). I treid the exact steps you suggested, but could not get vendor populated in inspection lot, we do not need to do the level of characteristics for inspection, simply a sampling procedure will work for us, but I am missing the vendor info, this will defeat the whole purpose. Can you please explain more in detail how can we link vendor info for material to show in inspection lot, inspection plan is at material master level(mm02), but we want supplier/vendor combination.
3). We also need to meet the requirement for buyer/quality people to manually update/change the FAIR, any suggestion on this?

Issue in inspection lot creation

Hi All,
We have to map the following scenario and we are finding it difficult to MAP this in Standatrd SAP
The scenario is as follows,
We have distribution center defined as plant where we purchase materials from our manufacturing plant or other vendors. We have activated quality management with inspection Type u201801u2019 (GR from purchase order) for some materials. Due to capacity constraints at our manufacturing plant sometimes we are not able to fulfill our customer demands. So, we purchase this material from our other vendors. We use drop shipment process for this. We ask our vendors to supply the materials to our customers directly. We create a third party sales order and for that sales order, purchase order having item category u2018Su2019 (Third party) and account assignment u2018Xu2019 () is created.
Vendor directly supplies the material to our customer but we have to make logical GR for this purchase order. When we make GR for this drop shipped PO (item category S) system creates inspection lot as quality is activated for this material. As we donu2019t receive any material to inspect (item category S) system should not create inspection lot for this type of purchase order.
We receive a large number of POs everyday and it is very hectic for us to make GR for this inspection lot.
However, we need inspection lot should be created when we receive the material from our manufacturing plant or any other vendor which donu2019t have drop shipped purchase order(account assignment X and item category S).
We have tried with deactivating quality inspection for movement type 01 and consumption indicator u2018Vu2019 but it affects inspection type 0130.
Can you please look into this issue and advice.

Incase if you want to perform Quality inspection then do the following
set the Inspection type for the Material as 89
Create manual inspection lot maintain relevant Master data in the inspection plan keep usage as 9 and status as 4
and sampling Procedure and finish your testing
Come back if you have any doubts

Is it possible with standard SAP when it is create the first inspectio lot for material/vendor ( origin 01) that it takes an inspection plan, and for the next inspection lot that will be created for the same material/vendor ( origin 01) that system takes from another inspection plan ????
Or have i to user a badi/user-exit?? which?

Try this
1. In material master do not set the auto release indicator for 01 inspection type
2. Make inspection plant for material with group counter 2
3. Now you have two different inspection plans with group counter1 &2
4. Do the GR for same material for two times
5. Two inspection lots will be generated
6. Assign inspection plan manually for first inspection lot with first group counter
7. Assign inspection plan manually for first inspection lot with second group counter
Please let me know is it working or not

Inspection lot stock posting issue

My inspection lot for qty 23 no's was created after doing GR against PO. While doing Usage decsion for the same, I wanted to post 20 qty to unresticted and 3 qty to reurn to vendor .when I went to the ispection stock tab page in UD , and tried doing the same there was an error while saving the same.
However the ispection lot status changed to UD ICCO SPST.
The stock is still lying in QI stock.I can see that in the stock report MMBE
Now my issue is that I am not able to post the quantity to unresticted stock. While i try to change the inspecton lot in QA12 transaction , the system issues a message that UD is done and hence cannot change.
Please do suggest how I can over come this issue and post stocks to Unresticted stocks

What you don't tell us is what does your stock overview report show? The status SPST indicates that stock posting has been started which means that something has been posted somewhere.
Go and display the UD. Look at the stock posting screen and see what it says has been posted. Verify that it matches what you see in MMBE in the stock overview.
Did you access QA12 directly or via the QA32 worklist. Try using QA12 in the command line and see if you can get into it. Typically you should always be able go back and change the UD code.
Report back to use what you find.

Inspection lot is being created before good issue

Dear gurus.,
Here´s the scenario: a Fert Material has InspType 05 active and inspection plan is also created.
The users on SD are trying to post goods issue at VL01n returning this material to our stock. However the system show a message "Status of inspection lot 050000000242 / partial lot 000000 does not allow good issue".
This messages does not appear when they SAVE the "delivery" BEFORE posting the good issue. When that happens, a inspection lot is created at QA32 without movement type. So QM has to process this inspeciton lot before SD do the good issue. When the goods issue is carried out then another inspection lot is created on QM with a movement type 655.
I can´t figure out why the system is creating this inspection lot BEFORE posting the goods issue. I´ve check the "data for goods issue" at QA03 on those ispection lot and it says numbers of the costumer, sales order and delivery. Shouldn´t be only one inspection lot with movement type 655?
I kindly ask for your help.

It sounds like your system has maintained an inspection type for the return delivery type in the SD config and that you have QM activated for movement type 655 in config. Do one or the other.
When the inspection type is configured against the delivery type, the inspection lot is created when the delivery is created.
The config is found in QM, quality inspection, inspection lot creation, inspection at shipping.

Raw material issue for inspection from inspection lot

Hello friends,
My sample size is fixed i.e.75 gm for all raw material quality testing. I have defined sampling procedure with sampling type "fixed sample". I want that this amount should be decreased from total lot quantity when i am posting it to unrestricted use. i.e. for 10 kg inspection lot quantity, 9.925 kg quantity should be posted .Now, system propose whole quantity for stock transfer from quality to unrestricted after usage decision.

1) System doesnot take decimal in samples. if your basic unit is KG and you procure 10kg material system will consider sample amount as 1 kg. it will not take 0.075kg as the sample.
2) Other option is make the procurement in GMs but that will be difficult for purchaser to handle
3) or esle make use of this exit and do the posting based on that

MFPR - Processing Inspection Lots for Production versions issue

Hello,
User are not able to seeing line item to create inspection lot for a specific part number.
I checked inspection set up in material master, rate routing, and compared with similar part numbers.It all looks good to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

In REM Inspection lot for Inprocess is generated for header material for which you actually define "production version".
Line items can not be seen in MFPR.
