Fixing a 'line' in a VHS transfer

I have a VHS I need to transfer to DVD and it has a white line running through parts of it (drop out or crease or something of that ilk). I'm wondering what the best way to fix it is. A search has come up with a few filters (such as one in the TMTS Free series), but as this is for a client, I'm wondering if anybody has suggestions as to the best way to restore (or at least highly diminish) this flaw.

A crease or a serious dropout does not manifest as a white line. If you can get the video on a scope, check it carefully. I think you'll see the white line is baked into the video. Or we need more precise information like is it white or is it snowy, does it move or is it in the same place when it appears?
A crease travels from top to bottom and distorts the audio when it hits the edge. Drop out indicates missing oxide.
There are many possible approaches but which one you choose largely depends on the nature of the line.
You can waste days on this: place two copies on top of each other and use a soft edge matte to cut a hole where the lines appear. Apply a bit of blur to the underlying copy so it shoes through the hole.

Fixed telephone lines and names

Hi,
The recent updates to Skype have wiped all the names from my list of contacts to fixed land lines only. Skype contacts are still shown.
The telephone numbers are still there but the names have gone. Now I have lots of numbers in my list but don't know how to put a name to the number. When I click on the number it comes up as an unnamed contact.
Does this mean I have to phone all the numbers one by one to find out who the contact is.

Can't get BT to fix a line at new property, how to...

Since we moved address on the 7th March we have not had a working phone line, just a series of BT mistakes and delays.
Series of events:
We booked a house move 3 weeks prior to moving on the 7th March
7th March we got a text saying your line has moved, but clearly hadn't as no dial tone
7th March contacted BT, who said yes your line has moved, and no we cant record a fault until midnight in case it hasnt been moved, the sort of twisted logic you have to fight through
8th March, finally got fault registered after arguing with a very unhelpful Indian call centre, who wouldn't believe we didnt have a line because it was showing as engaged - the fault as it turned out.
11th March - order BT infinity with a delivery date of the 26th March thinking is a simple problem.
13th March - Diagnostic shows it is a fault with the BT network, two BT openreach engineers turn up, who detect the fault is in an underground cable 100 yards up the road, mark up the road and tell us they will report it to the dig team, should be later that week, early next week.
22nd March - After much chasing through the Indian call centre, who after explaining that we need to know when they are going to dig and fix the cable, are getting told such unhelpful things as have you tried a different phone in the socket. Finally get a call back to say the hole has been dug today to fix the trunking, the cable guys will arrive Monday. I explained that no digging had happened, to which she said she would get back to us.
25th March - Another phone call to tell us quite bluntly that the digging team had more important jobs, and as we are just a residental line the digging won't now happen until the 5th April. We ask if there is any point in sending the Infinity engineer out, and they want to do so anyway.
25th March - Cable guys turn up and point out the digging hadn't happened so they can't do anything. Nice to see they don't talk to each other either.
26th March - Infinity engineer turns up at our old address, and needs re-directing to us, says he needs a working phone line, but he will do what he can. Plugs in the box that did arrive at the new address, disappears for an hour and comes back to tell us the exchange equipment has been installed in the local exchange for the old address.
27th March - BT phone, no apology, just blame the engineer, re-arrange infinity for 12th April.
30th March - Talking to new neighbour he tells us that the cable was crushed by some digging work at the beginning of December 2012 and they had no phone line for December, until BT realised there were some working pairs in the crushed cable and switched them, then didn't bother to repair the cable. Leaving a nice little time bomb until we asked for a line.
5th April - As expected nothing happens.
8th April - No contact as yet.
I would like to cancel the whole lot and go with someone else, knowing they will still need to get Openreach to fix the line, but hopefully another provider that doesn't consider residental lines to be unimportant, and don't use hopeless Indian call centres. As BT have never delivered a working service from the beginning of the new contract they insist on when moving, how do I go about doing this?

i fully understand your frustration. it will not be a quick solution
on the 1ST OCT i ordered, from BT, a phone line connection together with there broadband package. This was to be re-installed into a farmhouse that i have been renovating. I ran a underground service duct from the existing pole into the house. It was my simplistic view that bt would simply send an engineer to run a line through my service duct and connect either end, SIMPLES!
At the end of Nov, and after a series of engineer no-shows, we get an engineer. Hooray this must be it. This engineer persuaded my wife to help him feed the wire through the duct, he then made the connection and declared that he would have to travel 6 miles to our local exchange to turn the line live. An hour later he returned and announced that he could not find any fault but that the line was not working.
I then made a series of phone calls to eventually get another engineer out in December. When he turned up he did not have a clue as to what he was to do. He thought he was there to simply connect the line. Eventually i managed to make him understand that the last engineer just gave up. This engineer did make some effort to problem solve. He dis-appeared in his van to climb some poles and look in some boxes. after a couple of hours he returned to announce that he thought there was a break in the line 500m away. he could not do anything about this and he would get someone to contact me with a solution
In February i then recieved a letter from BT saying that they were sorry that i had cancelled my order and that they would be refunding my money that i had already paid. I called them immediately to explain that i did not to cancel anything i just wanted a phone line.
Hey presto another engineer turned up. This guy seemed to be on the ball. After just 1 hour he had located the break in the line. He then marked on the road surface "BT DIG HERE" and left us saying that things would now get sorted
Weeks came and went and still no sign of action until i found they had refunded the cost of the installation directly back into my bank account!
So i called BT today. Apparently because i had not been using the phone line they had cancelled the order!
I am getting to the point where i am considering forgetting the phoneline. Satellite internet connection may be expensive but it seems that the speed is consistant and i do not have the painful experience of trying to deal with BT

VHS Transfer quality

I transfer my VHS tapes through my camcorder to my computer. What can i do to get good quality when it's time to burn the VHS transfer to a DVD-R.

I captured the VHS footage to DV tapes first, and then imported them to computer. I thought the quality was better that way. Some of my VHS tapes are over 20 years old, and I was surprised that they looked better on DV tape.
My DVDs were the same quality as the DV tapes.
You will probably find that your DVDs look better that the footage in computer. I found that iMovies from my VHS footage looked darker and blurrier than the DV or DVD.
But, as pointed out, VHS tapes are just not good quality.

MRP - Unfix Fixed Schedule Lines with partial receipt

Dear Experts,
I am facing a problem that I haven't been able to solve using previous postings in the forum nor reading OSS notes.
I have a Factory PL01 that needs some raw materials that are bought and received in a distribution center DC01 located in another city.
Procurement data in material master MRP views:
In PL01, this Raw materials have external procurement with special procurement key "transfer from DC01"
In DC01 this Raw materials have external procurement witho no special procurement key (standar purchase order)
To make things easier we have an LU Scheduling Agreement and also maintained source list to generate automatic schedule lines after running MRP.
This is working ok.
My problem comes here:
When I create the delivery for schedule line (VL10G) the receipt becomes fixed in PL01. Lets say theorical quantity is 20.000 on schedule line but finally supplier can only deliver 18.000 to DC01 and DC01 can only transfer 18.000 to PL01.
in MD04, plant PL01 There will be a fixed pending quantity of 2.000 for the schedule line that will not be overwritten by MRP runs.
I would like to "Unfix" this fixed quantity but I can't. I read previous postings and many people say it's not possible and that quantity should be adjusted manually in schedule line to delete the fixed receipt.
Does anybody knows how to manage this? Can the remaining quantity of schedule line be unfixed? If not: Is there a more efficient way than adjust one-by-one the schedule lines ?
Please throw me a light about this.

Sorry I cant help you in your question but, i think you can help me in my.
I need to use MRP to creade the schedule lines for an schedule agreement LU but even when the Info record is set, plants are set witht the vendor and customers, MRP is not creating the Schedule lines automaticaly.
Do you remenber what things are required to do it?
I also set the source list with the Schedule Agreement and put it as relevant to MRP (2).
Any help will be great thanks.

Number of the Open PO and Fixed Schedule line

I need a report which show us how many open Purchase Order line do we have in the system..
And also I need another report which show us How many fixed schedules do we have in the system.
Is it possible to get theese information by using standart transection or do I need any speacil report for that?

Use the T-Code ME2N.U will get all open POs in particulat plant orporg or mat or vendor .if u know any one of these u will get all po list with that combination.

Zero Qty line elimination in Stock Transfer Proforma Invoice

Hello all,
We are making Stock Transfer Order between two plants within the same co code (ME21N). We are having automatic bacth determination at delivery level (VL10B). Automatic batch determination generates one header line without qty and others with qty. During Proforma invoice creation, all the rows (including zero qty row of header level batch) from delivery are getting copied into the proforma invoice. I want the system to copy only those rows having qty greater than zero from delivery in to proforma invoice.
In case of normal sales invoice this problem is not occuring.
I need your advice on the above mentioned problem.

How do you fix colored lines on Macbook Pro with Retina Display?

I have had my Macbook Pro 13" Retina display for over a year now, I recently opened it up and there were several green and blue lines running down the screen. When I apply pressure to the bottom of the screen, where the black border is, some of the lines disappear. It is progressively getting worse. I don't believe it suffered any trauma. It is a problem with the screen, not the GPU or anything else. I was hoping there is a way to fix it without have to spend over $300 to get the screen replaced. It is not under warranty. Any advice?

That's why Apple no longer sells disks. All its software is now available on the App Store. So you can either purchase/download the iWork components from there, or, if you have access to another Mac with an optical drive, share the DVD from that across the network (System Preferences - Sharing - turn CD/DVD sharing on) and install that way.

How can I fix this line please

Hello Everyone,
I have in a form the following line

When I hit apply the words champs and obligatoires break on two different lines. There is space for them to be displayed next to each other.
I cannot see how to fix it. Would someone be kind enough to tell me what I am missing?

The whole form is a subscription form and it is quite long that is why I did not put it all here. This is the end of the form and while the word was in English it worked fine I translate it but it takes 2 words instead of one and they split.
There is no asterisk in the code I just put it there so I could display the code it kept changing on me while posting.

How to fix scan lines

Hi,
I have dozens of scanned images (from 35mm prints) that have a thin line running all the way across the width at the center.
The 35mm print is fine , does not have the thin line , and the scanner is no longer available to re-scan the 35mm print.
Is there a tool / technique in iphoto that can fix/remove the thin line in the scanned images ?

It really depends in the amount of damage but you could experiment with most serious editors.
In order of price here are some suggestions:
Seashore (free)
The Gimp (free)
Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
Acorn ($50 approx)
Pixelmator ($50 approx)
Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

I want a free upgrade to Intel To fix the line problem

i have the line problem and the new intel MacBook has (i think) a bigger screen but less pizels than the old one so i guessing it will not have the line problem and i want a free upgrade.
do you think apple will do it?

Update: After 2 hours on the freeking on with apple care... i got nothing, every person i talked to acted like they have never even heard of the line problem. So yeah there was no way of me getting a MacBook.
They did say i could send my PB in to see if i could get the screen fixed. I really dont want to because i cant live a long long time with out my powerbook and then get it back weeks later and NOTHING fixed.
BTW - it was a little funny with every one using the term MacBook, They would mess it up and stuff and even when one of the person was talking about it i was thinking "Mac Book" as in a book the people look in to look up specs and problems and stuff.
Also one person said they have allready sold over 100,000 and im like "wow they only went on sale a few hours ago and its not shipping for another month.

Troubles setting up appointment to fix phone line.

My home-phone/land-line service has been out for two days, and I do not have a cell phone/alternative phone - Following the steps provided on the Verizon website setting up a repair ticket to fix my phone line, it requires me to answer a phone call to approve that the appointment is correct, giving me no other options such as email to acknowledge the appointment. Is there an alternative way I can get this set up? Going through the verizon website I was unable to find the ability to contact a human in customer support, I need this back up and running as early as possible, and this is causing a major delay if I have no way to approve the appointment.

Anything NEW in "bridge" devices for VHS transfer to digital?

I still digitize a lot of old family VHS tapes -- the hard way. I take a LINE OUT out from the VCR deck and INTO my Sony digital cam. Once it's digitized on Sony Hi8 tape, I can then out the tape INTO the Mac and iMovie. Works fine, butt one step too many. Awhile back there companies selling "bridge" devices that claimed to skip the middleman and let you output from VHS directly into the Mac. Most of them sucked. (Dazzle, anyone?) Anyone know of new devices that do the job? A friend told me he's been able to use his digitalcam as such a bridge, but I can't figure out how to do it on Sonycam (it has RCA inputs and an S-video input). I connect the VCR to the Mac via the Sonycam camera as the bridge. No luck. The videocam display instantly goes into "DV-IN" mode -- as if it thinks it's supposed to bring the video in from the Mac instead of from the VHS. (The Sonycam's DV firewire port is labeled "DV In-Out") Any help out there? Surely by now there's an easier, quicker way to convert from analog tape to digital..? -- David C

My Sony 520 has a "DV Out" soft switch which I assume is the same as the "Pass through" setting mentioned by other users. In any case, with this option selected the RCA/Mini-jack audio is applied directly to the FW output without having to "record" to tape as it appears you are doing. Not sure if this might be your problem here or not.
