Flash DVD issue

I've authored a simple, auto-start DVD. It burns to disk perfectly. When I try to build a Flash version, check program shows no issues. First play is set to Chapter 1 on the timeline, there are no menus, the flow chart looks hunky dory. When Encore builds the folder, clicking on index.html produces...nothing, just a blank window. I've made plenty of these before. Any ideas what's wrong with this one?

>controls that appear at the bottom of the presentation can not be accessed
Does that mean you can't even SEE the controls at the bottom of the screen?
If yes, what is the screen resolution of the "bad" computers versus the "good" computers?

  • Customizing (or fixing) the Flash DVD encoding presets

The Flash DVD export from Encore is actually pretty cool--a great way to build a nice web-deployable video player without having to dink around in Flash (which is something I'm likely to never do). However, the video encoding presets have some issues, and I've not found a way to fix, modify, or add presets.
In particular, when building a Web DVD using widescreen assets, the widescreen encoding presets (both FLV and F4V) encode black lines at the top and bottom of the frame. At first, I thought this was just a problem with the HTML code and that by changing the code, the player would be resized vertically to cover up the black lines (e.g. I thought the black was just the background of the player and the video was "floating" in the player pane). However, when looking at the FLV and F4V files after this didn't work, I realized that the black lines are actually part of the videos. This looks really bad in what would otherwise be a slick presentation.
A little more testing led me to realize that the original assets are not being cropped as they would need to be in order to have the encoded video be properly scaled. I noticed there is no way to modify or add encoding presets from within Encore, so I attempted to edit the EPR (encoding preset) files found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Encore CS5\Presets\Internal (Win 7). The EPR files are basically just XML documents, and one of the first entries is for crop. I tried changing the <CropRect> values to "8,0,8,0" to cut off 8 pixels from the sides, which would allow the video to scale vertically correctly, but this didn't have the desired effect. While it DID crop off 8 pixels on both sides, it didn't scale the video.
Next, I tried opening one of the Web DVD presets in AME and editing it there, thinking it would establish the proper values, and then saving it back to the Internal folder. This didn't work, either; comparing the content of this preset and one of the original ones revealed a few differences--enough to obviously make the tweaked preset not functional.
Now, I've found that I can encode files to the correct cropping and dimensions directly from AME, and drop them in place in the resulting Web DVD folder, and it works fine--but for projects with a lot of assets, this is a pain, especially since I have animated DVD menus (which also need to be separately encoded and replaced) and all of the selection overlays need to be recreated too. This is a huge pain, and while it would be OK for a smaller project, I have about 50 such assets that would have to be recreated. It would be far simpler to just use a custom preset, but I can't figure out how to make that happen.
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction--this is a great feature of Encore that's rendered unusable because of this silly little oversight. Please help!

Oh, now I see... it seems I had misread the item under:
"About Flash video - Additional applications, servers, and
video service features - Adobe Dreamweaver CS3"
    at the following link:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_guide.html
So, I'm back to finding the most practical, affordable,
user-friendly way to do the encoding. Maybe a free or low-cost
third-party program (I swear, someone in TS for Premiere CS3 Pro
told me to search for a free FLV encoder on the web)... and maybe
I'm also back to reconsidering if Flash is even best for my needs
versus QuickTime or WMV format. Now that I think about it, I'm
guessing a lot of those more professional-looking promotional and
educational videos I see a lot on the web these days that use just
a little video box with a very simple player right on the web page
are using QuickTime, not Flash. Does that seem perhaps accurate? Or
are the probably Flash? (Is there a way to look into the properties
or source of such a page and find out?)
    Thanks again.

  • Exported Flash IIS issue

    Hi,
I have exported an Encore project to Flash and it works ok locally.
When i copy the all the exported files onto a Webserver, then create a virtual directory pointing to it, the main menu appears yet none of the video plays.
The source folder etc has been copied over, as i see that has been an issue in previous posts.
The server is Win2003 and the virtual directory is added to the default web site.
I am making no amendments to the exported files except moving them to a webserver.
    Can anyone please help?

The only Encore/Flash related issue that could be going on is that you haven't copied ALL of the items used (the source folder, the .html, the .swf). But, since you said you did all that, then I don't know why that wouldn't work for you.
In the URL, do you have a trailing "/" at the end? That can play a role. Also, check case-sensitivity (type in the URL exactly as the folder is listed).
I'm sure you've got your own reasons for using virtual directory...however, have you tried setting up the Flash DVD on the site any other way to at least determine whether or not your virtual directory setup is the source of the problem? Try setting it up some other way....if it works, then you at least have a better idea where the problem lies. If it still doesn't work, then....something may well be missing, despite your best efforts to ensure a 100% transfer.
    Good luck!

  • Flash Player Issue with Windows 8.1 Professional

    Hi guys,
I'm currently having issues with Flash Player on Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1. It seems that the Flash Player has been disabled when I access http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html.
However, when I logged off the my domain account and use my local account, I'm able to test Flash Player.
Therefore, the only thing I can think of is the Group Policy that is blocking the Flash Player as I've resetted IE settings on my domain account.
Hopefully you guys are able to solve this mystery.
    Thanks!!

Go to control panel and go to program and features and uninstall existing adobe player
and adobe flash player activex both....
Then select windows 8 and flash player  from here http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
    Install and check..

  • Flash DVD... Motion menus are coming out black

I have previously used the flash output in Encore in CS3 and CS4. First time using it in CS5. I like to use video clips as menu backgrounds and have done it many times before. I link both the video and the audio to the menu in the motion properties window. In CS5, it appears that this function works for DVDs, but not for Flash. When I do the Flash export, the menus are just a black screen with the audio I linked to.

Hey, I figured out a fix. Turns out it wasn't the clip format. Turns out that you must have a button on a motion menu, AND, you gotta have the buttons image eyeball poked out. So in this case, what I'm doing is trying to create a web site using this Flash DVD option. It's a web site that works like a DVD in a Flash player. So that means it's a web site with a full-screen option and a volume control. It allows me to take my motion graphics skills and apply them to web design without needing to know anything about Flash. • Installing Flash Player Issues

I have a Windows 8 Operating Sysytem and I use IE version 8. I have downloaded the latest flash player numerous times and it continues not to work. So can someone please help me install it?????? Thanks in advance

If you have Windows 8, you CANNOT use IE 8, because Windows 8 comes with IE 10 preinstalled and it WON'T accept a lower version.
In addition, Flash Player for IE in Windows 8 is modified and embedded by Microsoft. It's "their baby" so to speak. It can ONLY be updated through Windows Update (in your Control Panel under System and Security).
Microsoft released a "Tuesday patch" November 12 to update Flash Player for IE10 and IE11 in Windows 8 and 8.1.
If you run the update and still have problems, see: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html for more steps to take.

  • Toshiba Satellite L3** CD/DVD issue !!! Here is my solution. How about you?

Hello everyone. Nowadays, I see on this forum people are discussing about the CD/DVD issues on L30/L300/L350. I would like to share my experience on this issue and hope everyone shares your experience as well.
My laptop are Toshiba L30 PSL33 and Toshiba L300 PSLB2E. I am lucky that I have no problem with CD/DVD discs/drives as I can read/write/play CD/DVD smoothly. However, I used to have some problems with CD/DVD drive on my notebook. Here is my experience.
    1) Make sure there is no other CD/DVD softwares on your computer (except the orginal software from Toshiba). Especially to those who have been used to using Nero. If you have problems, try to remove Nero and test with the one supported by Windows
    2) If you still have problems, try to update the firmware of the DVD drive. It can be done by visiting the Toshiba Support Driver site (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/). Check what drive you have by looking at the Device Manager. Download the newest firmware from there and update your drive.
    3) My last solution. If you have Vista pre-installed, try to get a XP version on your computer and do not install any other software. Test/copy a CD by using windows writing tool to see whether the problem is solved or not.
In my opinion. the main reasons you may encournter are: there are CD/DVD drives have XP firmware base and need to be updated so that they can be used in Vista; or there are software like Nero and PowerDVD are causing the conflict between the ACPI controllers (real and simulated).
Hope this may help you all. If you have other experiences, please share with everyone.
PS: Please excuse my language as I am not an English speaker.

  • Would flash player issues cahnge desktop icons?

I'm starting a seperate discussion on this issue as it is truly different than my other postings
    I use Vista Home premium
I have many icons on my desk top, mostly shortcuts to program. Yesterday I had to reboot several times when trying to update to ne flash player.
Then upon one reboot, I noticed that some, just like 3, Icons changed.
    Example
icon for the shortcut to itunes looked like the icon picture for the game dinerdash
icon for shortcut to the game Bakerydash looked like the icon for spider solitaire
now when I would right click on these shortcuts, they would show the proper data for the shortcut they truely were Whe I would right click on the icon and then select change icon, the only option there was the actual correct icon. I'd hit apply, but it did not good.
I ran virus/spyware scans and all were clean.
Could it be because of flash player issues? or because  I had rebooted several times in a row and did not allow the system to fully reboot before trying the next reboot??
Like I would reboot and then 7 minutes later reboot again. Could that cause the icons to screw up a little?

I don't know what changed the desktop icons, but it is one of these things that just happen sometimes.
Windows XP had a great tool, TweakUI (from Windows Power Toys), that has a 'Repair Icons' function.  Microsoft never released a TweakUI version for Vista, but I know that a 3rd-party version of TweakUI for Vista can be found on the Internet (Google will find it for you).
I would try to use this to repair your desktop icons.
P.S. since this TweakUI is not a Microsoft tool, I recommend to make a System Restore point before running it; just in case...

  • New External DVD Issues

New Computer:  HP Envy m6 Notebook PC
New External DVD Drive:  LG SP60
    System:  Windows 8
Issue:  I place a DVD movie into external drive and there is no "auto play" function and no queue for me to start or play the DVD movie.
I have properly installed the external drive.  I have used the drive to install other items including my printer.  So it is not a mechanical or core function issue with the drive.
I was "forced" to download Cyberlink Media Suite; however, there is no button or queue to click to watch the DVD in the drive.  All items are related to burning a DVD.
I have tried several other DVDs that are in excellent condition on a totally separate device.  So I know it is not a DVD issue.
In the "my computer" it shows that there is a movie but it also shows that there are 3 main files, all with additional subfiles.  None look like they are "clickable" to play the movie.
I am searching for a simple one to two click process to play a DVD--not a process that requires several subscreen maneuvers.
Windows Media Player does not recognize the DVD movie either.
    Help please . . . .

    Hi,
I would not allow external USB devices to run Auto Play because virus can come in to play. For Windows 8, WMP is not a good product to play DVD. The DVD Player on CyberLink suite should play DVD's for you. You can also use a free product called vlc, which can play nearly all video formats.

  • Is there a solution or work around for flash player issues?

Is there a solution, app or work around for flash player issues w/ iPad 2? Maybe even something in development?

Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so you could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app). But flash itself is unlikely to ever be supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ , and Adobe have failed to create a version of flash that works on iOS

  • HD to Pal SD 16:9 DVD issues

    Hi all,
I have searched the forums for days and can’t find the best solution; I’m having trouble creating a Good PAL 16:9 SD DVD from a HD Source. The issues I’m having is the DVD looks washed out and very soft, also the graphics look bad with lines through them like they are not resolved properly.
I have being making DVD’s with compressor for about 5 years and I would be happy if I could get the same quality as when we used to shoot in DV.
    Below is my process:
    Shoot
    Sony EX3 Camera 1920x1080i50,
    Edit Timeline
    1920x1080i
    Prores 422,
    Pixel aspect ratio: Square pixels
    Field dominance: Upper
I have tried all solutions on the forums such as turning on Frame control(combination of different setting), down converting in FCP first, down converting in Compressor first, tried CB instead of VBR.
After days of testing, the best result I have had so far is to out put HD from fcp then get MPEG Streamclip to do the down convert then use compressor to make the DVD. This fixes the problem with the titles but not the soft focus issue.
Also I’m checking these DVD’s on a full def Sony LCD and SD CRT. It does look better on the SD CRT but most of my clients have LCD’s.
One thought I had is that my original footage uses square pixels but compressor changes it to 0.7031 Pal 601(16:9) I’m not sure what affect this is having on the quality of the DVD?
    I'm using FCP 7.02 and Compressor 3.5.2
I would appreciate any help.(Plus I can’t wait til my clients get Blu-ray!)

I've been having similar problems, and it appears as if us in PAL world seem to get hit harder with this, leading me to think that the problem is in the Upper Field Dominance of HD being sloppily converted to Lower Field Dominance of PAL DVD. Those in NTSC world start in upper and finish in upper field dominance.
For the record, I'm using HDV 1080i 50 footage from our Z5's recording to flash card, ingested using Log and Transfer (with the Sony memory unit plug for FCP installed).
Many people have put forward their suggestions for HD to DVD workflow. Almost all of them are from the US and don't have to worry about moving from one format to another with different field dominance. No one has been able to tell me where the change takes place... they just know it happens somehow. If you are going from FCP to Compressor to DVD SP, I think DVD SP is changing the dominance as it preps for PAL DVD. I don't know how hard the conversion is, but I don't like the idea of DVD SP doing it.
I tried changing Compressor's settings to output in lower field dominance, btu all I got was unwatchable flicker.
I tried a demo version of BitVice and it yielded the same results as Compressor (just poor quality when field dominance set to "Same as source" and unwatchable flicker when set to lower). This adds weight to my theory that the problem is in the field dominance conversion which I think is being done by DVD SP. Maybe if an expert on this field dominance can confirm or rule out my theory, I can move past this bump in the road.
Has anyone tried moving projects over to the Adove suite and outputted via Encore?
    Cheers
    Dav

  • Mac Mini DVD issues with 3rd party player software

New to the forum. I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM and 256 SSD (Crucial) fitted and the latest version Yosemite OS. I get a slight jerkiness when playing DVDs from an external Panasonic UJ265 USB3 Blu-ray drive using either Aurora or Macgo software, however Blu-rays play fine and the jerkiness disappears with Apple's native DVD player. Any ideas what might be going on? Many thanks.

I'm having a similar issue as well with my Mac Mini (Macmini 4,1) connected to an HP LP3065 via the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adaptor. I also have a Dell 2407WFP connected via the the HDMI->DVI connector:
    Summary:
When the Mac Mini wakes from sleep, the display for the Dual-Link DVI connection is set to the wrong resolution and cannot be modified in System preferences.
    Details:
In my case, this manifests as a blank screen and flashing green power led on the HP, which is how the it indicates the display resolution is set to something other than 2560x1600. The Dell still wakes up, but is now in Mirroring mode. At this point, Displays system preference shows a generic "Display" with a resolution of "640x480", plus the HP2407, with no option to change the resolution for the generic Display)
The only thing that seems to fix the problem is restarting the Mac Mini.
This seems to happen about 30% of the time the Mac Mini wakes from sleep. The rest of the time, everything works fine. It's extremely annoying.

  • ID CS4 to Flash XFL issues

Not sure whether this goes here or the Flash forum. My issue is that I am trying to design a print-size document, export to XFL, and import to Flash with editable text etc (as advertised).
But when I open the XFL I get the first few items pulled in OK, but everything else in the whole doc looks like it has been corrupted or something. Missing text, images, and tables that are half missing. I've done about all I can think of to remedy the problem. Re-exporting, making a completely new ID file and copying stuff over, making a new file and starting from scratch, deleting things off the page and re-exporting to see if it was one particular object as the culprit, etc.
I also tried it on my Mac at home with the same results. odd thing is, every once in a blue moon, on export, it will be perfect. Only ever got that on a 1 page test export, though. Never an entire doc.
We'd been hoping to implement this new tech into our work flow, but with this issue, that is nigh impossible. I'm hoping it's something as simple as a check box I have somehow unchecked. Haven't seen anything like this in the first few pages of this forum, so I was wondering if I was the only one.
The document is really not at all complex. Just a few placed images and paragraph styles and 1 vector asset.
XFL Export settings are as follows:
    Size: Scale: 100%
    Pages: All
Text: InDesign Text to Flash text
    System specs are:
    Windows Vista 32 bit
CS4 Design Premium (all available updates applied)
    3.5 GB ram
    2.41 GHz AMD Opteron
Mac I used is the late 2008 unibody Macbook 2.0 GHz model, also running fully patched CS4
    Thanks!

Pull out the table and try again. I don't do this much (really just
demos) and I've seen problems with files that contain tables.
