Flashing Apple Problem Fixed...Try This.....worked for me!

Thanks.
I took it to the apple Store, and they told me the hard drive crashed. They said ,“End of Story, and get over it. It’s a hard drive and they do go Bad., You need a new Ipod”
I could trade mine in for another reburbished one for $150.00. I called Apple and was persistent in that after only a year and three months, this 400.00 ipod simply stopped working. The telephone apple tech told me some things to do BEFORE I hit the RESTORE in Itunes.
1) First of all, make sure you update both the Quicktime and Itunes software.
2) Slide the hold switch back and forth a few times. Keeping the middle button and the top Menu button depressed, Until the apple icon appears, then keeping the Middle button depressed, hold down the bottom Pause/Play button until you see a check mark, and at the top is you will see the DISK MODE appear.
3) Let charge awhile. Open Itunes, then do a RESTORE to factory settings. Create your play lists and load up your music. So far so good.

I was experiencing the same issue and tried the standard install/re-install steps. I also played around a bit with the msconfig soultion but unfortunatley this didn't work for me.
On one of my other machines I just finished configuring a Shuffle for my kids. It required me to install a later IPod updater (iPod Updater 2005-11-17). You can find it at http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
This seemed to do the trick for me. Goodluck

  • Ipod not recognised in ITunes. My solution (try this - worked for me!)

Hello. i had IPOD 30GB vid for Xmas and have spent 3 days surfing through info trying to find out why itunes did not recognise it!
I could see it in my computer but not itunes. I tried everything - and I mean EVERYTHING. I reinstalled, rebooted, restored reset etc etc! We had 2 IPODs to install so we knew it couldnt be a total hardware failure as both were doing the same thing.
Sorry if this is too basic for the techie people but I needed these instructions!
My problem was that Ipod was recognised as the C drive. Im not sure why this caused such a huge problem but there was a simple solution.
Following installation of software (inc new version from website) open Itunes. If your IPOD is not showing up in Itunes, (be patient though - it sometimes takes a few minutes) please try this first!
Open MY COMPUTER and wait until IPOD is showing in there (again - it sometimes takes an inexplicable amount of time - but be patient)
    Click on START icon,
    Right click on MY COMPUTER,
    MANAGE,
    STORAGE
    right click DISK MANAGEMENT
    ALL TASKS
    CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND PATHS
Now change the IPOD drive to a letter after L (I used Z for one of the IPOD and X for the other to be on the safe side!) You need to do this for EACH IPOD you want to plug in.
Now close this down - reboot your machine and start again.
Open Itunes and be patient. It sometimes takes the system up to 2 or 3 minutes to recognise the IPOD is connected.
    Good Luck!

  • Possible LR CC Instability Fix - This worked for me...

For those who have upgraded to LR CC and are finding the software to be unstable, are getting gray boxes instead of pictures when filtering images or are finding LR CC is slowing down your computer to a crawl this worked for me....
    1) Go to Pictures/Lightroom/  (or where you have designated your catalog files are stored)
Rename LR 5 .Irdata file and catalog as .old or any earlier version of LR-if there
Delete any catalogs and temporary files created by LR CC - yes if you have any work in those files it will be lost, this is the unfortunate trade off to have a working copy of LR CC
    2) Run LR CC as administrator (I haven't tried running it normally, it may work), when if first starts a dialogue box will pop up stating the default catalog cannot be found and ask if you want to create a new one or try to find an existing one - create a new blank default catalog
That's it.  (Of course I found this after spending 90 minutes waiting for chat help and 2 hours with chat, and uninstalling both LR CC and PS CC2014 in hopes of fixing the issues I was having.)  I've been able to reprocess the images I was working on when I upgraded and converted the catalog...I don't know if this is an upgrade issue or if I did something wrong in the upgrade, but I had a frustrating 3 days of being unable to process a client's family pics and computer crashes.
Briefly, LR CC would start and open, no hangs or crashes on the splash screen, it would kind of work for a few minutes then the pictures would turn into gray boxes, then the software would just stop working, no error, nothing just unresponsive.  My laptop would slow to a crawl and I would be forced to restart and my laptop would have to be hard booted to be shut down.  If I left LR CC open and my screensaver would start and my laptop would sleep on "waking up" I would have nothing on the screen - no task bar or desktop icons - just a picture and a mouse that moved but did nothing else.
    I hope this helps.
I wish you luck and virtual chocolate,
    Nonnie

Thanks for this! I tried doing it a different way and completely ruined my sound all together to the point that there weren't even any audio outputs detected! Fortunately this fix got me back on track and it's working again.

  • Microsoft Calendar – BB Z30 Fix – Well it worked for me!

I am an avid MS Outlook user on my home PC and where I am based at work (I'm freelance). I chose my Z30 because I have owned BB’s before and they were excellent with synchronising to Outlook, but had strayed to Apple then Samsung but found my way back to BB because the calendars wouldn't work as I needed them! So think of what I felt when my brand shining new Z30, would no longer do what my previous BB’s did for breakfast! Since that fatal day I have literally tried every fix I could read from these and many other blogs, but to no avail. I was about to launch this Z30 out of an open window, when a light bulb inside my head suddenly got switched on.
Could MS Outlook.com be the answer? It was a similar plan to one I had already tried using my Easily,co.uk calendar with an Open exchange server (recommended and downloadable from Easily.co.uk), but one which had completely and utterly failed; and Easily.co.uk to my horror were less than useless in trying to resolve all the issues I had trying to employ this solution!
Anyway, I registered for a MS Outlook.com email account. I already have my own personal domain and email (let’s call this mydomain.co.uk) account with Easily.co.uk which I forwarded direct to my new outlook.com account. My initial fear was that by using Outlook.com all my emails would be addressed outlook.com. But MS in their infinite wisdom provide options to add email accounts and for the user to be able to promote your chosen one to be the default primary. So the first issue out of the way!
The next thing was to create a new email account in my MS Outlook using [email protected] via MS’s very own Exchange ActiveSync! All I had to do was to:
Goto E-mail Accounts; New; chose E-Mail Account; [Next]; then enter: Your Name; email address ([email protected]); password (my outlook.com password); retype password (as before); (Next) and away it goes and creates your new exchange account!
Now your new account includes your email, calendar and contacts!!! It will show up at the top of your folder list (left hand side) possible named [email protected] (or whatever your email address is). SIMPLES!
But here comes the tricky part, as much as you are attached to the safety of the bosom of your PST/IMAP outlook, it’s time to say goodbye and go out into the big wide world of exchange services! BUT FIRST LOCATE AND MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT PST or OST and ARCHIVE FILES. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Next is to delete your PST/IMAP email (NOT YOUR DATA FILES): WARNING Do not delete your data files if asked (as you will lose any emails contained in there)!!!!
Goto E-mail Accounts; highlight your pst or imap email account; chose [Remove]! You should be left at minimum with your new outlook.com account! Then go to the Data Files tab and you should see your new data file [email protected] and possibly your pst/imap data files! If you can’t see these and you wish to keep these in operation, you can add them by clicking add; then navigating to where your pst/ost file was and click on it. There it should be loaded and all your old folders should reappear, once again in the left hand folder list possibly named ‘Mailbox’ but whatever your pst/imap file was named.
Now as the calendar was my biggest issue, the thing you need to do now is make your new outlook.com calendar the primary (in fact I no longer use my pst version – it’s still there for prosperity but no longer used). I did a combination of copying the entries from old to new (do this by showing both calendars side by side and literally moving an event from old to new) however, for everything to sync properly I would recommend that you resend any work events from your work pc again (as not all behaved as expected when I originally copied them over) and any local events redo in the new calendar. I know it’s frustrating and ball-aching but the results will far outweigh this!
Now its time for the BB Z30! Goto Settings; accounts; [Add Account]; [Advanced} [outlook.com]; fill in the relevant blanks. If outlook.com does not appear on the advanced page, return to add account; enter your outlook.com email address; [Next]; enter your outlook.com password; [Next] and the email app should go away and find all the correct settings and that should be that, you should be set up with your new account.
Once it was all complete and I knew my emails were all working I deleted my old account. I then crossed my fingers, my toes and even my eyes, and went to calendar, ticked the show calendar box and there she was! Brilliant, I hear you say, but NO! Only a few of the events eventually started to show! Disaster and quite a few expletives burst from my mouth! I was extremely gutted!
However I decided to persevere and so the next day I sent myself a new invite from my work PC and it was delivered to my BB. I opened it and pressed [Accept] and it placed the invite exactly where it should. Success! I then altered my event on my work PC and sent an update and once again success, it was delivered and I accepted and it updated! I then cancelled the event on the PC, and received the cancel notice opened it and hit [Remove] and it did it! Absolutely brilliant and exactly what I needed it do! This type of thing isn't rocket science, but it had taken nearly 4 months to get here!!!!
So then I noticed one or two more events had appeared in my calendar! Strange or what and over the next few days they all turned up! So do be patient! Now my home PC calendar and my Z30 are in full sync, emails and calendar and even contacts!
All I will add is that this worked for me, I hope it works for you but I can’t accept any blame if it causes any of your pc’s or phones any harm, damage or loss of critical data. ALWAYS BACK THINGS UP FIRST! Good Luck!

  • APPLE PLEASE FIX MY IPOD SHUFFLE FOR ME !!!!

Ok i am starting to really get annoyed.
Every single time i have connected my iPod Shuffle to my computer (and i have own two computers within the last year) so i have switched to the newer one, so basically its not my PC's fault.
Every time i connect it, it messes something up. last time i tried to charge it, it froze my pc. I tried again, it kept on ejecting and reconnecting magically without even moving about. And i always connect the iPod to the REAR USB 2.0 ports that i have, and i have 6 of them.
So anyways, after RE-installing the latest software updater, and iTunes, and restarting, and trying a thousand times, i somehow managed to get songs on to the shuffle.
But now we have another problem. When put my ipod in SHUFFLE mode it goes alphabetically from A to B to C (artist wise), and when i put it in Normal mode which is supposed to go alphabetically, it goes randomly from A to D to Z to F, etc.
Also i have 68 songs on it, and somehow it managed to play the same 10 songs over and over and over, without me even turing it off... acting as if i only have 10 songs on the thing.
Its been less than a year i have own this, and i dont think i have AppleCare on it, since my Uncle bought this for me around April/May 2005.
PLEASE HELP, or APPLE PLEASE FIX MY IPOD SHUFFLE FOR ME!

<sarcasm>Here's a deal ... mail your iPod to me and I'll get it going again or, more likely, confirm that there's nothing wrong with the shuffle itself. That will take ........ ohh, I'm estimating a few minutes. Eventually, when I can find time in my busy schedule, I'll mail it back to you. Be sure to remind me to do that.</sarcasm>
Seriously, though — do I understand you correctly? You want everyone else to do your homework for you? Okay, fine ...
You've noticed the 101 Class .... but no, too busy for that. You could just go to the Troubleshooting page, I suppose, and get your question answered directly and who knows? Maybe that would have been more productive than writing up your three separate posts today. You will have to click one or two more times and read a little bit, granted, but I just did all of that in the middle of writing this reply to you.
Oh, right, I forgot .... too busy to find it. Here you go
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipodshuffle/
The one you'd be interested in would be the one that talks about green lights and no music and yadda yadda yadda ...

Is it true that apple will fix your products once for free ?
    No.
my iphone  just turned off last night and wont turn back on...
    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.  If still under warranty, take it in to Apple for a potnetial warranty replacement.  If not, you may be able to get an out-of-warranty replacement for $149.

  • TS4268 what apple write here is now work for me. If anyone know how to activate imessage on iPhone 5 ios 7.1.1 please kindly share how?

Since i upgarde my iPhone 5 to the latest ios 7.1.1, it doesn't work on iMessage. I've tried to follow the instruction posted by Apple but it still not work for me. It appear " iMessage unsuccessful activation" after i waiting for activation for a while. If anyone know how to get it successful please kindly share, HOW ?

I should also add: There's no pending downloads in the iTunes store on my device or App store. There are some pending downloads linked to my account, but they have been there for quite a while and have never been a problem before. Additionally, if these apps WERE the issue, I figure they would've begun to download on my device after I succesfully typed my password in.

  • Flash Player 10 for IE (will not install, FIX Try this)

OK Everyone here is how to fix Flash Player 10 Install problem
I had the problem that Flash Player activex would not complete the install.
    I tried everything, I reinstall windows XP sp3, I reinstall IE 8
I cleaned, uninstalled and even a tried a reg cleaner (waste of money)
I used all the troubleshooting information from Adobe . (did not work)
I was just about to reinstall XP and then I tried.
Danger do not try this unless you are comfortable updating and using the registry files.
Make back up before trying .
This is what worked for me.
I went to run regedit , went to HKEY_Classes_ROOT, Right Mouse click to show menu,Click on permissions
Add the Administrator Group, then give it full rights , then Advance in same window,  Clicked the box replace permission on all child object ect. Then clicked Apply.
This will add the Administrator group and give rights to all items in the HKEY_Classes_ROOT, which looks like what Flash Player installer is looking for.
After that, Use the Flash uninstaller from Adobe restart computer the install Flash Player ActiveX from Adobe
    Good Luck

Could you put all of that in an icon please ???
They said to look at permissions.

  • Can someone please try this and see if this works for them...

    Hi there
I cannot get the following to work but according to the mainstage manual this should work. Could someone please try this and see if this works:
    a. Create a new concert based on any template. Delete all patches except one (lets call this remaining patch X).
    b. Add a Bass instrument channel strip at the Concert level (by selecting the Concert in the patch list and then hitting the '+' button on the right within the Channel strips and selecting Software Instrument).
    c. Set the Concert level Bass instrument channel strip to play only on the first 2 octaves or so, by setting the Key Range parameters appropriately.
    d. Click on the remaining patch X. You should see that it automatically has your bass instrument as a split on the left hand octaves on the Mainstage keyboard displayed. So everything good so far.
    d. Now save the concert with any name.
    e. Close the concert.
    f. Re-open the same concert again. Click on the patch X. At this point I would expect the Bass instrument to be showing on the lower octaves. This does not happen for me.
I've spent a couple of days trying to see if I'm doing something wrong, but cannot figure this out. Please please someone let me know the outcome of trying the above. And if I'm doing something wrong to get this to work, kindly let me know.
    thanks
    Ziggy

Thank you all for your suggestions and taking the time to try this out. I think I've sussed out what the problem is.
If you create them like Thor mentions that always seems to work. Thor, I don't understand what you mean by hitting the "+" in the channel strip area. Doing this creates an additional channel strip and not a new patch.
What I was trying to do before was to include all patches in a set as well. So I have my Concert, then a Set, then patches within my Set. If I added a Bass at the concert level, it looks like this was then propagated to all my patches in my set. But when I closed Mainstage and re-opened, the bass wasn't there at the Set or patch level.
I really think there is a bug with Mainstage, where if you have Sets and patches within sets, any instruments at Concert level do not get inherited by the Set, patches in the set. I've tried this a few times and tried without using Sets. It always seems to work without Sets.
So the lesson is not to use Sets, if you want to share concert level intruments.
Once again, thank you guys for trying this out.
    Ziggy

  • "Home Directory Full" message "fix doesn't work for me

Often (no, not always, it's not consistent), I get the dreaded "Home Directory full" message when I launch mail. Mail then quits when I click OK. Normally, if I launch it again right away, it works.
I tried to use the standard fix (e.g., removing the "Envelope Index" file to the desktop and launching Mail). This did cause a dialog to pup up informing me that I needed to re-index my mail file. I did that, and the process stopped with the progress indicator about two thirds through. I quit Mail and replaced the Mail folder in Library with the backup I had made before getting started.
Next, I tried the Hoover method (running the vacuum command from the Terminal. My machine grinded away for some time. I don't know how far it got (there is no progress indicator nor any other feedback of any kind), but since nothing happened for a good half hour (with no more disk activity for a long time), I quit that process, too. Get info revealed that the "Envelope Index" file had not been modified at all by this. Again, just to be on the safe side, I replaced the Mail file again with the backup copy.
Because the re-indexing in my first attempt had stopped while processing my sent items folder, I suspected that this one was the culprit. I therefore attempted to rebuild it (via the menu command in Mail). Much to my surprise, the process actually finished without an error message. However, my sent items folder now contained some 5,200 emails as opposed to the 7,00 or so it should have.
Then I saved my Mail preferences file to the desktop, made a backup copy of my Mail backup file, and launched Mail. This made the application believe that it was being launched for the first time. I used the Import command and imported only the contents of the Sent Items mailbox, specifying "Other" as the type. This imported 5,225 items; at that point, the progress indicator was showed a fully completed process, even though the "messages" folder contained 7,900 items. Checking things, I found that there was a discrepancy of 9 items (i.e., the last item that showed as having been imported was not the 5,225th item in the "messages" folder, but rather the 5,216th). I thus moved the first 5,216 items from the messages folder into a different folder and tried to import the rest. Much to my surprise, Mail imported the same 5,216 items all over again. This is when I noticed that it does not import from the "messages" folder but rather from the file called "mbox".
And this is where things stand. I still get the "Home Directory Full" message about once out of two launches of Mail (but never once Mail is up and running). I desperately need to get this fixed as I fear I'm on the brink of a disaster with my mail file.
One more clue: I cannot be 100% sure, but it seems to me that the problem began when I added a second dot mac email account to my Mail setup (we have a family pack; I always managed the main account and have more recently added one of the sub-accounts to my configuration). I also noticed that sometimes, this second dot Mac account shows up in my list of mailboxes on the left side of the screen, and sometimes it doesn't. Both these accounts are configured to be checked automatically. In addition to these IMAP accounts, I have a half dozen POP3 accounts and some 40 or 50 local mailboxes configured.
Does anyone know of a utility I can use to rebuild my entire email file instead of just the index? Or does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can manually fix things? I did do the usual stuff already (using disk utility to check the disk, fixing permissions, and so on) without detecting any problems.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.
    Daniel

    You’re welcome.
When I removed the preference file (com.apple.mail.plist), I also removed
the folder "Mail" so as to start from scratch completely.
Well, that’s not what you said in your first post...
I only use "Other" because I read in one of Apple's notes that one should
try "Other" in the event that the OS X Mail import failed (which it did).
This is wrong in the case of Mail 2.x. That has to be an old article. Could you please be more specific as to where exactly did you find it?
there is a way to actually export the contents of a mailbox as individual
items that can then be reimported.
Selected messages can be exported in standard mbox format by doing File > Save As in Mail and choosing Raw Message Source from the Format popup menu. Standard mbox files can be imported into most mail clients. In particular, they can be imported back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other as the data format. Using this format, however, would cause some status flags to be lost (e.g. whether a message has been replied to).
Locally stored mailboxes can be copied to the Desktop or anywhere else by just dragging them there from Mail itself (for server-stored IMAP mailboxes, copy the messages to locally stored “On My Mac” mailboxes in Mail first). These, however, are .mbox folders (not standard mbox files), where messages are stored in individual .emlx files that other mail clients don’t know or care about. They can be imported back into Mail doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Mail for Mac OS X as the data format.
It also explains why the import only brought in 5,200 items instead of the 7,900.
The question is: where are the others?
    In the Messages folder.
as I mentioned above, I used disk utility to check the disk and fix permissions, so I did
not just do the permissions stuff. In my experience, if checking the disk gives you an
OK result, then there is no point in booting from another disk to perform a repair disk.
Right. I missed that part of your first post. Sorry.
if the mbox files are no longer needed, can they be removed?
Yes. The only items within a mailbox (i.e. within an .mbox or an .imapmbox folder) used by Mail 2.x are Info.plist and the Messages folder. Any other files you may see there are almost certainly Mail 1.x files that Mail 2.x leaves there after the conversion. This is poorly explained in Mac OS X 10.4 Mail: Some mailbox files used by Mac OS X 10.3 are not deleted after importing. The article only talks about mailboxes in ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/, but the same can also be said about mailboxes in “POP-”, “IMAP-”, or “Mac-” account folders.
As long as you keep a backup copy of the old files for a while (at least, until you’re sure everything was converted properly), they can safely be removed from the Mail folder. OnyX has a Cleaning > Misc > Temporary and obsolete items option for getting rid of all those files.
Note that if you see strangely-named Messages-T0x... folders, these aren’t old files from previous versions of Mail, but rather an indication that there is something amiss. More specifically, these are temporary folders created by Mail 2.x during an import or a reindexing process (e.g. rebuilding a mailbox) that Mail should have deleted when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn’t work as expected.
    <hr>
Here’s the procedure I usually suggest to set up Mail again from scratch:
    1. If you have a .Mac account and .Mac synchronization of Mail data is enabled either in Mail > Preferences > General or in System Preferences > .Mac, disable it before proceeding.
    2. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/. Move (not copy) the entire Mail folder out of there, to the Desktop.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate com.apple.mail.plist and move it to the Desktop.
    5. Open Mail and set it up again from scratch. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don’t. Just enter the account information and check that everything works fine.
    6. You’ll have to re-configure all your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it’s enabled.
    7. If Mail works fine now and you had any messages stored in local mailboxes, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Mail for Mac OS X as the data format, and follow the instructions to import your mail from the old Mail folder that’s now on the Desktop. Import the Mailboxes folder first, then each of the POP-username@mailserver account folders, if any.
    8.
