Geocoding support

I am trying to use Oracle Spatial to geocode addresses. Is it possible to geocode an address through a PL/SQL routine ?

Oracle Spatial doesn't geocode addresses.
You will need other software or a service to provide that capability,
and the results of that process can be stored in Oracle Spatial
or be used in Oracle Spatial queries.

  • Geocoder supported countries

    Hi,
The Spatial User's Guide and Reference states the following "The GC_PARSER_PROFILES and GC_PARSER_PROFILEAFS tables store address format definitions of all supported counties."
I would like to know if South Africa is or can be one of these supported countries. If it is not currently supported, what is needed to enable the support of the geocoding engine.

    Hi,
I did some work earlier in the year where we used the 10g (R1) Geocoder with some UK data. I have to say it wasn't the easiest project i've ever worked on. The main issues I had were that the supplied data not was necessarily in an easy format to convert to the fairly strict requirements of the geocoder, and, as you point out, the GC_PARSER_PROFILES and GC_PARSER_PROFILEAFS tables don't have non-US configurations in them (or didn't). I copied the US one and made what I thought were reasonable equivalents for the the UK but it wasn't ideal. Configuring these tables is central to getting it all working and many countries aren't as simple to configure as the USA!
I had spoke to someone at Oracle about wether Oracle are "supposed" to supply these tables pre-populated with all supported configurations (i.e it's a bug) or wether we're on our own if we're outside the US. (I didn't get a reply alas).
Good luck - it's hard work, but can be done!

  • LR4 Plug-in Compatibility

I am using LR3 with some of J Friedl's great plug-ins - JF Facebook, JF Geocoding Support, JF Metadata Presets, JF Picasaweb and a few others.  How painless is the upfrade to LR4?  Do these all have to be reloaded and re-configured?
    Thanks,

There are plenty of forum threads here that will answer your question.

  • GPS tag when exporting

I searched for this problem, but what I found was in the context of Geosetter, whereas I'm using Jeffrey's plugin ... plus I don't believe the problem as entirely resolved ... but hopefully since.
If I Geotag an RAW file using Jeffrey's plugin, it all shows up properly as displayed by Lr (v.2.4) in a "Geocoding support" metadata block, but exported JPGs do not show the same GPS metadata as did the original(??)  Previous messages implied it might work if I first converted my Oly ORF to DNG, but I tried that as well.  I have "write minimal metadata" disabled, and Jeffrey's "Geocoding support" enabled.
    Anyone have a clue?
    TIA
Message was edited for clarification by: michael shaffer

I really like using Jeffrey's Geoencoding plug-in because it fits much more neatly into my lightroom workflow but the limitations of the Lightroom API mean that getting GPS data into the correct place is a little convoluted.
    1) The Geoencoding plug-in puts GPS data into an additional field in the lightroom database, not into the "correct" EXIF field.
    2) I have not used Geosetter but I am sure it adds the GPS data into that correct EXIF field
    3) Enabling Jeffrey's Shadow GPS injector on export adds the GPS data correctly but only to the exported file. The exported file should match the Geosetter file but the file in your main photo library will not have any GPS data even if the lightroom option to write back metadata changes to the original file is enabled.
    4) Importing a Geosetter encoded file into lightroom should put GPS data in the normal GPS position in the lightroom right side metadata panel. It will not show up in the shadow GPS field.
    5) Moving "shadow GPS data" encoded in the Geoencoding plug-in into the "correct" EXIF field is done using the "Write Back" function in Jeffrey's geoencoding support plug-in. This is where the Lightroom API limitation kicks in. GPS data from the shadow field has to be written back to the original file in your library, then read back into the lightroom database. Only after this has been done will the "GS" and "GE" file versions look the same with regard to geoencoding. This operation is explained pretty well in the geoencoding plug-in itself, under write back. I have not found a good explanation on Jeffrey's blog.
I hope this helps make sense of what you are seeing on the files. I have not managed to download your examples to verify what you see on my system (I use Lightroom 2.4 on an Intel based MAC running OS 10.5.7) but if you like to email me the files I can take a look.

  • What countries are supported by the Oracle Spatial Geocoder (10g 2)?

    hi @ all,
can anybody tell me which countries are supported (especially in east-europe[turkey,georgia,...]) ?
    Denmark
    France
    Germany
    Ireland
    Italy
    Regards,
    greq

    Hi Luc,
our data supplier deliver us the geodata as shape-files, so we migrate them in 'Oracle Spatial geocoding' tables.
For some countries (west europe: germany, france,... ) a geocoding-Parser already exists, but not for all countries. We get now some new data from turkey, ukraina, ..., but we don't know if a parser for this countries exists.

  • Why no RAW support for the Fuji FinePix HS10?

This camera is well over a year old.  Why is there no support for the RAW file?

It is definitely not only Fuji. I used a Panasonic Lumix FX-150 before that has been supported by Adobe Camera Raw for quite some time now. I replaced that camera by a Lumix LX5, but I see that the FX-150 is still not supported by Apple Camera Raw and probably never will.
If you want wide range RAW support, use Lightroom. (Not to say that Aperture doesn't have its strengths, e.g. support for geocoding.)

    Hello,
We are in the process of impementing payroll in our R12.0.6 environment. We have applied HRMS RUP9, "US & Canada End of Year 2011 Statutory Update Phase 1 for R12.0 " patches as they are mandaotory for R12.0.X payroll implentation for US and Canada.
A post patch step for Patch "US & Canada End of Year 2011 Statutory Update Phase 1 for R12.0 " is to run "Geocode Upgrade Manager" Program.
We are trying to run this program from CA HRMS Manager or CA Payroll Manager responsibility.
When we hit the Submit button to submit the request. It throws the following error:
"APP-FND-00874: Routine FDFBDF found no rows in table FND_DESCRIPTIVE_FLEXS. Please contact your system administrator or support representative."
Please let us know how to troubleshoot this....

I am thinking of compiling all flexfields through adadmin once.
Please provide anymore pointers if possible ....Please do and see if it helps.
Also, run the compile flexfield concurrent program from the application -- How To Re Compile A Concurrent Program Parameter Descriptive Flexfield ( DFF ) [ID 1209897.1]
By the way, do you have any invalid objects in the database?

  • Stubborn geocoded photos

    Hello!
I have some places recorded in My Places (menu > Window > Manage My Places).
Geocoded photos won't show up on the geocoded coordinates, but are showing up on the nearest My Places point.
I deleted all recorded My Places and some pictures jump to other places.
If on Get Info I click on "Photo place", click on the "X" and then Done, the picture shows up on the right place. But the next time I load iPhoto, pictures go back to its wrong places.
Anyone knows how to solve this?
By the way, Rescan for Location does not solve the problem.
Many thanks for your time and support!

Geocoded photos won't show up on the geocoded coordinates, but are showing up on the nearest My Places point.
This sounds like they are within the "blue circle" of your "nearest My Place" - try reducing the size of one of the circles and see if that eliminates this

  • Oracle.spatial.geocoder.metadata

I am trying to Enable a Third party Geo-coder using the Sagent Centrus Real-Time Java API. The Oracle doc section 3.4 states that "Oracle offers a sample class, oracle.spatial.geocoder.Metadata to allow easy access..."
But - I cannot find it in the database, or on the file system, or in Technet.
Anyone have any additional information on the sample class provided? Or ideas on how to best "enable a third party geocoder".
Has anyone by chance already written the interface for Sagent's Java client?
    Thanks.

From Oracle documentation it mentions that "
"The GC_PARSER_PROFILES and GC_PARSER_PROFILEAFS tables store address format definitions of all supported counties. These tables are used by the internal address parser in parsing postal addresses into addressing fields. The data for these two tables is provided by Oracle."
However, I am not seeing "GC_PARSER_PROFILES" in my schema.
    Am I missing something?
    Thank you,

  • SAP DSD - geocoding for customers - field format does not fit to examples

    Hello to all,
We have a customer requirement behind this. We intend to use the DSD-Addon for several issues. One of these issues is to store geocoding information for our customer data within SAP. The SAP-Release is 4.7 with the DSD-Addon active. I checked all threads within the network and also checked SAP-Help and OSS-messages. Now our issue:
When I look at the fields for storing the geocode (Longitude and Latitude) they do not fit to the testdata I got from our customers. The data look like this:
    customer:       x-Coord           y-Coord_
    10001             744264,3384   6657823,32
    10002             813368,6494   6699051,344
    10003             790475,8379   6702787,298
    10004             862729,1893   6690792,612
The fields in the DSD-Customerdata have the format "123.123456789012". So I wonder how my data could fit into these fields. Is there anybody who has experience with this? I did not find any information or examples in the SAP-Help for this. What is wrong the format of the fields or the format of the x/y-Coordinates?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Srinivas ,
Let me confirm which version of SAP your using
    As per your post -
    1. Table total does not fit into window
Check your table is fit in the window or not (window will be main window)
2.Error occured while sending mail SO_OBJECT_SEND, return code L (message type: warning)
Check your parameters that passing to the SO_OBJECT_SEND
3.Page format with orientation unknown (message type: warning)
Check your styles that are using  in the form
4.Form TOTALS has wrong page format (message type: error)
Chekc your page format that is going to to support printer what your using - check the printer settings.
I think your are using the u r own z page format
Let me know if any concerns...

  • I Love The Map Support

    Great Beta!
Would love to see KML/KMZ layer or pin support on map module. The I can see if images are out of place based on my Google Earth pin's which I can export from Google Earth, Import into LR4.
Also, when clicking on many images (orange button with a big number) metadata is = <mixed>. Would like to see this refect the image being show, and updating when going forward/backwards.
    Color customize. e.g: year 20101=orange, 2008=blue, 2007=red...etc..etc. User config.
Seems really stable for a beta. Running 64bit.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I basically use LR for validation of metadata (keywords and GPS). While Geocoding is possible, via a plugin or nativitly, its not really possible to do 10's of thousands of images. I use a special app for this which wiorks very well.
In in current state, LR4 offers a interesting map feature, which good for managing small catalogs (a few thousand). In my case it would not provide me much in terms of my workflow.
I will try to give an example.
Catalog contains 100K images (mine in much larger)
Lets say we filter by the keyword 'Stadiums"
    I'm presented with 15,000 images
I then move to my map view and see clusters of images on a map. They represent all the stadiums in USA.
What I need to do is zoom into each cluster and verify that the pictues are on top of satalite images of that stadium. Very slow.
If I had pins (and maybe rollover or click to see the text label) I could see various pins on a map and I would see the images always near a pin. If a set of images were nowhere near a pin, then I know something is out of place.
In Google Earth, you can organize pins into folders, and you can hide/display them by ticking and unticking a folder in "My Places". The same thing would be needed in LR4. So not all pins are displayed (Stadiums, shopping center's, parks, etc) and I could just select Stadium's to see stadium pins., for matching up with images.
When working with 100's of thousands of images, this would greatly speed up my workflow (validation).
    Thanks

  • Address Geocoding

Does Oracle Maps support Address geocoding ? Can it be used with the Oracle Geocoder?

Yes u can, look at this pic:
    For example:
    SELECT SDO_GCDR.GEOCODE('SPATIAL',
    SDO_KEYWORDARRAY('1350 Clay', 'San Francisco, CA'),
    'US', 'DEFAULT') GEO_ADDR
    FROM DUAL;
    response:
SDO_GEO_ADDR(0, SDO_KEYWORDARRAY(NULL), NULL, '*CLAY ST*', NULL,
NULL, 'SAN FRANCISCO', NULL, 'CA', 'US', '94109', NULL,
    '*94109*', NULL, '*1350*', 'CLAY', 'ST', 'F', 'F', NULL, NULL, 'L',
    .49, 23600696, '????#ENU??B281CP?', *2*, 'DEFAULT', -122.41522,
    37.7930729, '????0101410??004?')
MATCHCODE 2 = street type not matched
Match on the exact house number of Clay St
Postal code filled in, street address completed

  • 10g geocoding...

Is there a detail user guide of 10g geocoding? I have questions like what tables, views, data, etc... are needed. If you have time, you can build the above yourself from free us census data.
However, the 10g spatial user guide mentioned "To use the Oracle Spatial geocoding capabilities, you must use data provided by a geocoding vendor..."

    Hi, Siva,
I have been reseaching the Oracle Spatial Geocoder schema you have provided, and have come across a question that hopefully you can help with. We are in the process of procuring and massaging data for the Oracle GC schema to integrate Geocoding capabilities into our application.
We have a business need to geocode addresses down to the ZIP+4 level. I have noticed that the SDO_GEO_ADDR type that is returned by the SDO_GCDR.GEOCODE function has some attributes that appear to support this. Namely:
    POSTALCODE,
    POSTALADDONCODE, and
    FULLPOSTALCODE.
I've been unable to find in the GC_% tables where the postal addon code should be stored. Is this currently unsupported feature, or have I missed a field or two in the schema?
Thank you in advance for your help

  • Regions Supported

Have been using PowerMap for a short while now, but never with success using regions.
Is there a plan to support Postcode regions for Australia- for the life of me I can't get PowerMaps to display any areas of Australia using the regions chart. My guess is that it's not yet supported?
    Rgds

    Hi Rohan 1931,
Sorry to hear you are having issues with PowerMap. We looked into the issue, and based on what we found, here is our recommendation:
Zip codes in the north central part of Australia begin with a 0. It is a formatting issue and therefore we cannot geocode correctly. Insert an apostrophe  or a ‘ in front of all zip codes which have a  leading 0 and that will keep that column formatted
to string, and then try to geocode again. You may have to start over or delete the layer and recreate it again. We were successful in showing regions of Australia.
If the issue persists, please let us know, along with a copy of your data set, and a few snapshots.
Hope This Helps solving your problem!
