  • Guest User Log In Issue

Hello, I hope this is an easy fix...I would like to add a guest user account on my macbook. I did everything correctly in the step by step support page. When I power up it shows two login options, myself (admin) and guest. When I click on guest the screen just shakes, assuming it's telling me that I cannot log in as a guest.
Everything thing works fine when I log in as my user.
Any suggestions? I think it might be some kind of security setting or something that I did.
    Thank you, JJ

Thank you for your reply and yes I tried that several times. I ended up disabling the guest account and just created a new user named "guest user"...quick fix.
And yes it sure does seem very simple, just click the box to enable guest...not in my case tho :-D

  • Guest Users Log out.

I am using WLC 2504 with the software ver 7.4.121.0 and i am facing the problem with the guest user account it log out after connecting for a while. I am not understanding how to fix this issue.

Using the GUI to Configure a Session Timeout
To configure a session timeout for wireless clients on a WLAN using the controller GUI, follow these steps:
Step 1 Choose WLANs to open the WLANs page.
Step 2 Click the ID number of the WLAN for which you want to assign a session timeout.
Step 3 When the WLANs > Edit page appears, choose the Advanced tab. The WLANs > Edit (Advanced) page appears.
Step 4 Select the Enable Session Timeout check box to configure a session timeout for this WLAN. Otherwise, unselect the check box. The default value is selected.
In the Session Timeout text box, enter a value between 300 and 86400 seconds to specify the duration of the client session. The default value is 1800 seconds for the following Layer 2 security types: 802.1X, Static WEP+802.1X, WPA+WPA2 with 802.1X, CCKM, or 802.1X+CCKM authentication key management and 0 seconds for all other Layer 2 security types (Open WLAN/CKIP/Static WEP). A value of 0 is equivalent to no timeout.
Step 5 Click Apply to commit your changes.
Step 6 Click Save Configuration to save your changes.

  • All agents were logged of automatically from agent dekstop

    Hello,
We had an issue last week where all agents where logged of automatically.  By the way we have UCCE version 8, CTIOS agent desktop 8, Call manager 8, and 7961 Cisco phones. Agents were able to log back in and everything seems to be working fine.  We are running duplex mode in call center. on the CTIOS server it show in call manger the agent destkop unregister, however the call manager and switch logs doesnt show unregister. It is really weird and on the switch there isnt any errors that indicate that packets were loss, does any UCCE expert out there know what could of been the root cause.  The error on the CTIOS server says cucm faulire for all those phones but phones werent unregistered.
    Any Suggestion please help.
    Thanks,

All agents logged off, not just half? Typically when you run in duplex, half of those CTI OS Agent Desktops should connect to your secondary CTIOS server (50% chance at login). Are the effected agents all in the same location? To me this points to perhaps being a network issue if everyone was effected.
Can you run a report on the Logout codes for the effected agents? What logout codes were recorded for this event?

  • Is there any way to log off automatically from a WIFI connection every time the device is turned off or goes into sleep mode.

I have a bunch of Apple devices in my house (kids) and don't like the idea of all these devices (iPads, iPod touches, iPhones) always being connected to my home WIFI.  Ideally, I would prefer the devices connect automatically when they are in use by a human and log off the network when they (the devices) go to sleep mode or are turned off.

This is not an answer, more of a question.  I know that when a pad goes to sleep, it drops the connection. We all remember the thousands of posts from folks who had trouble re establishing the connection after waking up in the early days.  What is different now is the use of push, and notifications.  If you have these enabled, doesn't that mean that the wifi needs to stay active?
I notice that I have notifications on the screen that came in while asleep, and I can only believe that the wifi saw them.  This is different from the old behavior or re grabbing the wifi.
So, to Pam, on one the devices you are concerned about, turn off notifications, fetch and push, put it to sleep, and see if it drops off the network.  I am kind of curious.
By the way, having the wifi active has not shown me any battery usage. The router certainly does not care.  Security is at the router end, so if somebody wants to hijack my signal, it does not matter if the pad is active or not.  So I guess I am not clear either on what your issue might be.

  • How to dump guest user database from 4402 to 5508

    Hi Everyone,
Currently all our guest user accounts are created on a 4402WLC that is running on code 4.2.61.0. This WLC will be replaced by a 5508WLC that is running on 7.0.116.0. Is there a way to export all the guest user accounts and password from 4402 and import them to 5508? I can only get account name from "show running-config" and password is not showing there.

  • Retrive portal user logged from HttpServlet

    Hi all,
i've implemented an URL iview containing a Java application. I've to retrive the user logged on portal from the application's servlet contained into url iview.
    Please, any idea!?!?!
    help me!!!
    Andrea

    Hi,
Since the servlet is running in a different container I'm not sure there's a clean way.
What about passing in the user id on the url string?  http://<myurliview>?myuserid=<user> ?
    Your servlet would then have access to this via request.getParameter("myuserid").toString();
The application integrator can take care of parametizing this for you.  See here http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/70/5a3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
    Hope this helps,

  • How to unblock MacBook if stuck to guest user?

I Can't access my computer for about 3days now.heres what happened:I tried to shut it down as usual,so I pressed and held the power button, though it only went to "sleep".i activated the screen again and put my password, but the window with the power off options was already there ,and because I didn't notice it I pressed the power button again.the same thing happened 3times(password ,power button, sleep),till at some point it wouldn't take the password anymore,so I tried to enter as guest user to power off from there and that's where it blocked.now it's on sleep function and every time I activate the screen it shows that the computer is processing the guest option.i even tried to empty the battery completely but when I plugged it in it opened to the same thing.what should I do???

    Hello Gelitabell,
I'm not sure what you mean by "the computer is processing the guest option."  It sounds like it is booting to the guest user where you have limited control and you can't seem to get the login options to switch users.

  • Guest user account logged into while away from house/computer!!!

    Warning: I am not a tech-pro!
Okay, I have a 2011 Mac Book Pro running OS X LION 10.75 (11G63) unsure what those last numbers mean but they were there so I thought perhaps it might be helpful to add them.
Recently I moved into a granny flat and pay $10 a week to use their unlimited internet wifi. I log into my wifi through this device called a WiFi Repeater? It's plugged into the wall in my unit, as I warned I am not incredibly tech savvy so I am only guessing when I say I suppose this extends the main wifi signal from the actual home owners upstairs big modem? Any who.... A few times I have seen in the Finder Memu ot says 'Shared' and under that 'Wendys PC' (Wendy is the homeowner) then if you click on it it tries to connect but won't or there is a 'Connect As' option which brings up a little screen saying - connect as wendy, which requires a password or connect as guest which doesn't look like it requires a password- I'm not certain because I've never tried to connect any further, I only pressed that initial connect button when I had mentioned to Wendy I could see her PC & she asked me to press connect & prove I could not in fact connect (I'm starting to despise the word 'connect' since having to type this post about connection). So... We just kind of let it go. It did really worry me that Wendy (who worked in the tech field for years in particular with an Internet provider, could possibly connect to my computer and nosey through all my files- and to be honest, that would not actually suprise me. She is incredibly 'inquisitive'... And that's putting it mildly. I do have a password on my Mac Book Pro but I don't think that would be that hard to break through/hack if you have the knowledge/software. And yes, I do have confidential files on there! Banking/business/private photos (I'm trying to lose weight so take one nude photo per day to do a time lapse of myself in a year or two- obviously for myself not for others eyes lol and I would literally die in the *** if someone ever saw these). So basically I have good reason to protect my privacy. As does everyone! Anyway my first question is - Could she log in and how could I tell if she had? Now, the second part of this ridiculously long question (my apologies) is I was logged into my personal account all last night & this morning. As I stated- it IS password protected. The user account is not. Before I went out (and I can't actually recall if I closed the lid or not when I rushed out today... Usually I do but maybe I didnt... Whatevs) So, I get home and activate the screen by moving my finger on the touch pad and lo & behold I'm straight away looking at a totally different screen? It took me a few seconds to realise why my desktop looked completely different with none of my files etc... It was - as you've probably guessed- because I was in fact in the guest user account. Now, I didn't even have to click ON 'Guest User' as I normally have to. When you turn my Mac on it always comes up with - 'My Full Name' (one account login) and then 'Guest User' (the second account login option).... So you HAVE to choose which one you want! But my screen was straight away logged into the Guest Users desktop! I did NOT do this guys! So, of course now I'm extremely concerned that either she, her husband or their son whom is visiting for the weekend - have either a) logged in remotely on one of their computers or b) have come into my home and tried logging in & then forgot to log out of the guest account. I want to know if there is any way to find out what they did, what they opened if they did, how to stop it from both happening at all or if my suspicions are in fact happeninh AGAIN   And I guess on a more personal, less tech involved note - how would you all deal with such a situation? Let it go? Or be upfront about the fears/concerns I am experiencing since moving in just over a month ago. AND most importantly - IS there any other reason -other than someone physically logging into my guest user account & failing/forgetting to log back out so that when I got home & activated my screen I was actually looking at the guest user desktop's account instead of the Mail application screen in the 'My Full Name' password protected user account where I had actually left it before rushing out.... Like, is there ANY other possibly explanation for my user account being logged into when I'd left it on my own account t before I left that doesn't include someone in the house hacking/breaking into/snooping through my Mac? Also- you should understand that when I leave my Mac for just a few minutes I have it set up so that the computer screen 'sleeps' (I'm assuming that's the correct term) so that if for instance -exactly like this morning- I have to rush out and don't want to/don't have time to save work/quit applications/shut down etc... I can walk away leaving the laptop as is knowing within a few minutes the screen saver comes up (and if that's ledr for long enough it goes into sleep mode) and no one can actually enter my private account without my password. I feel safe knowing that.
    Sorry.... I FELT safe.
I'm truly sorry for how long-winded this question has become, I simply wanted to give anyone possibly willing to help me sort out this issue, as much information as possible. I think I have actually only posted here once before (I find these sort of forums quite intimidating) and I often see people getting bashed for not providing enough information. So, I'm pretty sure I'll get picked on for too many words if anything!!?! Lol
Thank you, in advance for your help!
    Olivia;-).

    Ouch.
Not easily. You could try data recovery software... maybe SubRosaSoft's File Salvage or the like.

  • Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options.

Why can I not disable the guest user in the 10.8.2 update? I have never enabled the guest user, but after the update, it was automatically enabled with a "managed" tag. It is not selectable even after entering my admin password to unlock the options. I was able to select the account under "parental controls", but again, could not delete it. Why Apple? Why?!!????

SOLVED Ok. I actually was able to disable it. I had to actually log in as the guest user to make it accessible in the preference window. Then I disabled it and logged out. Apologies if this was obvious for some people, but I have had some sort of issue with something every update since Snow Leopard.

  • I'm having a problem with logging into a FileVault-protected user account after restoring from Time Machine backup.

    Hi all,
My computer had been running really slowly for a while, so I decided to erase the whole hard drive and reinstall the operating system, and then I was going to restore the files I cared about from Time Machine. The main account, which had all my documents and photos, was FileVault-protected. The last thing I did before erasing the hard drive was to run one last Time Machine backup. As far as I remember, I always ran Time Machine backups with the FileVaulted user logged in.
I don't remember whether I was using FileVault 1 or 2. I had been using FileVault 1, but I installed Lion as soon as it came out and I thought I had migrated to FileVault 2 at that point.
Once I erased the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system, I browsed the Time Machine disk and, within the Users folder, there was no folder for the main user account. When I tried to reinstall everything by restoring from Time Machine backup, I'd get the option for all the user accounts, but when I tried to log in with the main one I'd get the dreaded "You are unable to log in to the FileVault user account "User" at this time. Log in failed because an error occurred." Finally, when attempting to restore from the Time Machine backup again, I noticed something strange: After the computer got to about 10% done restoring, it declared itself completed successfully and rebooted.
I've tried a number of tips that came up from questions about similar issues on the Apple support forum, but had no luck. Is there any way to get these files back? Did they ever even get backed up?
    Thanks.

    Hroodbwai wrote:
I can't find it! not sure what's going on but the only folder shown is the " Shared" folder.
Did you have only the one user account? If there were others, they should also be in the "Users" folder. You probably won't have access to the files inside them, but they should be there.
From what can make out, it looks like it's not backed up any of the files for the filevault account. Can't see user folder when looking through previous backups in Time Machine galaxy view.
Are you doing that from a Finder window set to your internal HD, or your computer name? It should look something like this (with the Finder in List view):
    |
    |
I'd been logging out and backing up manually on a regular basis.
Scheduled backups should run normally; but they won't back up the File Vault sparse bundle, nor will any run manually.
The only time it's backed-up is when you actually log out.
You should have seen this window on logout:
    |
    |
    followed by this one:
    |
    |
If you didn't see the second one, or cancelled it, the account wasn't backed-up.
