Header  Item Vs Line Item

What is the difference between Header Item and Line Item.Plz explain with example.

Header Means the Header details which are common to all the items such as Sold to, Shipto party , Ref Po No date and Total value and currency etc for a sales order.
Item data means all the materials(product) related data with material, description,qty, unit, Plant, st locn etc. there may be multiple items for a single header.
Schedules lines means on what dates we are going to deliver the items.
so for example for a Item qty is 20, so we can delivery it in 3 times on 3 different dates. so these 3 dates are mentioned as 3 different lines.
I will try to explain in the Sales Scenario.
Say, u have created a Sales Order. S.O. is the document in which you specify what all things are sold by you to the customer.
Then Every S.O will have a unique number.
A S.O. can have multiple items sold in it. Every Item in a Sales Order corresponds to a Line-Item. Now, there will be some characteristics which will be associated with a Order as a whole like S.O. Type, Creation Date, created by etc. These details are called Header details.
Now, a Sales Order needs to be delivered to the customer. That delivery can be scheduled. Say, 50% of Part A is to be sent today and rest is to be sent tomorrow. So, this is the schedule line for that Sales Order Item.
Hierarchy goes like this :
S.O. --> Multiple Line Items --> Each Line Item can have multiple schedule lines.

  • Head office customer line item display FBL5N

    Hi Gurus,
                  I have assigned head office (customer number) in the customer master of Brach office and i have also maintained sort key as 004. But when i execute FBL5N by entering the head office code in the dynamic selection of FBL5N report i am only getting Brach line items the report is not displaying the head office line items, can any one explain is it a standard behaviour or am i missing anything here?
    My system environment is ECC6.

    Hi. as far as I remember FBL5N is using DDF database. So go SE36,structure DDF.Then extracts-Dynamic selection and check if there is the same field which you are entered.If not,then add required.

  • IDOC posting for distinct PO records(as header) and article(line item)

    It would give me your valuable suggestions and help me with developing the mapping below:
    I have a file to IDOC scenario, which has about 10 fields and two of these fields are PO and article no.
    I need to post IDOC for each distinct PO number(header) and then article number under these PO should post as line items.For exmaple:
    consider sample records having the following PO and artcile number:
    PO|article_no
    123456|abc123
    123456|abc456
    123456|abc678                                    
    These 3 records should post only as one IDOC, having the header PO 123456 and line items(abc123,abc456,abc678)
    On the target side, PO is mapped to the parent segment and artcile is in the child segment.

    I think solution is simple...while creating recordset from file create recordset for every occurance of Header..
    I think your File structure would be something like this in FCC..
    header,1,Line_Item,*...hence it wull create recordset for every occurance of header and you can map Line Items to idoc line items...Also specify recordset per messages = *.
    I have done something like this...

  • Procedure for creating Recording in  LSMW with header data and line item

    Hello Friends,
    I have to do the Initial Upload of Model Service specification using LSMW ( Recording).
    Transaction : ML10
    The problem i am facing is that i have been given 2 files one with HEADER data and the other with LINE ITEM(Service data).
    Can we use the RECORDING method to upload 2 files?
    If not possible how do we proceed.

    Step-by-Step Procedure:
    Details of the BAPI used in this scenario:
    Business Object: BUS2012
    Method: CreateFromData
    Details of Message Type and Basic IDoc Type:
    Message Type: PORDCR
    Basic IDoc Type: PORDCR02
    Letu2019s have a look at the BAPI first, before proceeding to the LSMW:
    1.     Go to Transaction BAPI
    2.     Click on Search Button
    3.     Enter the value u201CBUS2012u201D and select u201CObj.type(Technical Object Nameu201D
    4.     Press ENTER
    5.     Following screen appears:
    6.     On the left side of the screen, Expand the u201CPurchaseOrderu201D.
    7.     Select u201CPurchaseOrderu201D and double-click on the same for details.
    Building LSMW using BAPI:
    1. Go to Transaction LSMW.
    2. Enter the Project, Subproject and Object information and click on CREATE.
    3. Enter the descriptions for Project, Subproject and Object as prompted.
    4. Now select Settings à IDoc Inbound Processing
    5. u201CIDoc Inbound Processingu201D screen appears. Enter the required details as shown below:
    6. Click on u201CActivate IDoc Inbound Processingu201D.
    7. Click on u201CYesu201D when prompted for u201CActivate IDoc Inbound?u201D
    8. Hit on u201CBacku201D to return to the main screen.
    9. Click on Continue (F8). Following Screen appears:

    Select u201CLower Levelu201D and click on Continue. Enter the Item data structure name.
    Click Save and hit BACK button to go to the main screen.

    17. Click SAVE and return to main screen.

    Save and return to main screen.

    Assign the file provided to the source structure. Here the same file is provided for both the structures.
    Save and return to the main screen.
    22. Select the step u201CRead Datau201D and click on Execute.
    Click on Execute.
    Return to the main screen.
    23. Select the step u201CDisplay read datau201D and click on execute.
    Click on the structure name to get the field level values.
    24. Return to main screen and now select u201CConvert Datau201D.
    25. Return to the main screen and select u201CDisplay Converted datau201D.
    26. Return to main screen and select u201CStart IDoc generationu201D.
    27. Now select the step u201CStart IDoc Processingu201D on the main screen.
    28. Return to main screen and click on u201CCreate IDoc overviewu201D. Here the data record and status records of the IDoc could be viewed:

  • Open Item and Line Items are not matching

    Hi Gurus,
    I ran the EFT for vendor #1600109 for payment on 10/18/07.  If I run the vendor open items report (ZFI019) for today, it shows the balance net of the EFT that is $203,466 ( $263869 - EFT Value is $60,403). 
    When I ran the vendor line items display (FBL1N), it shows all the invoices including the invoices paid on the Oct 18 EFT $263,869 which is (2034,66+60,403). 
    User wants the open item report should tally the line item display.

    Hi Gurus,
    EFT is working fine. But the Vendor Open item Report (Custom Report) and Vendor line item report (FBL1N) is different.
    We are looking a balance for a vendor as on 15th where the balances are not matching between the reports but if i run FBL1N on 18th the balances are matching.
    Clearning date is 18th
    Posting Date is 15th.

    Pls Check in the Line item Ur using the syntax properly or not..In SAP if it ios syntax error it won show..Pls chk the syntax properly ...POr try to debug the script and see whether item text is coming or not.
    If it is not coming check me23n whether tat PO has item text or not..if it is there Problem is in ur Include text.

  • Total of line items in line item file not the same as in statement file

    Can anyone give an idea about this error?
    I analysed teh multicash file for the totals and line items total ties out with the statement total and formats of the file also seem to be fine.

    You should give the exact message, with message number.
    If it is FB 777, "DTAUS: Number of line items not equal to control total; see long text", you should see the long text. I think it contains sufficient information:
    Text

    data records of record type 'C' were handed over in the file you    
        imported. There must be  data records according to the control total 
        from the fourth field of record type 'E'.

        postings were generated.                                                                               
    Procedure                                                                               
    Inform your credit institution about the error which has occurred and
        let them give you a correct DTAUS file.                                                                               
    No actions are necessary in the SAP System.

  • General Ledger - Open Item Mgt/Line Item Display

    Hello Experts,
    GL Account was created with no tick in open item mgt and line item display.  Business users posted few entries and now realised that the accunt type should be open item manageable and display should be at line item level.  Going through the SDN forums, few experts suggested the workaround  as follows:
    1. Block for posting GL master
    2. Make it zero balance in the account(clear existing trans)
    3. Run program(SE38) RFSEPA01
    4. Check Open Item Check box/Line Item Display
    5. Unblock the GL master
    6. Continue posting as normal.
    However the above solution was recommended for 4.7 or earlier versions and for ECC 6, the recommendation was to open a totally new GL master with correct attributes and block the old GL master. 
    My client is running ECC 6.2 but requires this corrected asap and I wonder if anyone can suggest a better solution than creating a totally new GL master.

  • Want a particular item category line item not to print on form

    HI!
    We would like our smartform for invoice not to print the line item when that item category is "ZABC". I can easily do that by hard coding in the form mentioning when item category is 'ZABC' not to print it instead I was looking for a way using the configuration flag to  show whether a line item should show on the form or not . Is theer a way I can do it by this method instead of going staraight by hardcoding the item category? Is theer a way on the configuration side which I can use to indicate the line item with item category 'ZABC' not to print onto the form?
    KIndly indicate of it cane be done and how.

    Hi Aarav,
    Item category details are in table TVAP. For billable item category the Carry out pricing  indicator (Field PRSFD) will be checked (X) and for free item category the field is blank. Check the table entry for both free and valuated item category and there you will find the difference in the table entries.
    So based on the data in TVAP you can set the condition in Form for displaying the line item.

    Open Item Management
    If you set the "Open item management" indicator in the master record for an account, the line items in this account is marked as open or cleared.
    The balance of an account with open item management is equal to the balance of the open items. General ledger accounts are kept with open item management if you need to check whether there is an offsetting posting for a given business transaction.
    You should use open item management for bank clearing accounts, clearing accounts for goods receipt/invoice receipt, and salary clearing accounts.
    Bank accounts, however, do not use open item management.
    If you subsequently define open item management for a G/L account, this entry only applies to the items which are posted afterwards. At the date of the change, the account must display a zero balance.
    Also, when canceling this indicator, the balance must be zero. You therefore have to clear the remaining open items before making the change in the master record.
    Line Item Management
    If you set the "Line item display" indicator in the master record for an account, all line items that have been posted to this account are displayed if they have not been archived.
    You use line item display to display the document line items from the account. For line item display, the system lists all the line items for an account.
    In short, Open item management is to be selected for all types of clearing accounts like GR/IR, Check Recieved, Check Issued A/c, Check Deposits A/c etc.
    Where as Line item management is to be selected where the GL account is to be posted for more than one customers/vendors etc.
    For example: We have 10 customers. We have received checks from them and posted to the same GL (Checks Received A/c). IN this case Line item Management is must. Then only we can able to see the line items and able to identify our customers.
    However this field is not necessay for accounts with many transactions like Sales A/c, Reconciliation Accounts etc.

    This report can easily be written useing the tables EKKO and EKPO
    First get the PO's created in that date range.
    From there get the change document numbers with this extarct the date from CDHDR and CDPOS tables.

  • Sales order BOm with Both Header material and line item delivery

           We have one requirment   we have two products  Products  A  and B, when we are salling only product B we have some amount for that e.g 1000  rupees   but when we are salling product A  along with this product B is free of cost   so as in SO it is not accepting the 0 amount  thats why while making SO for product A  we reduce 1 rupee from product A   and that 1 rupee we are adding for the Free item B   but now every time we have to add both material in SO
      So is there any way  when we make the So for product A  automatically product B should come in So and price of product A is from VK11  but price of B should always be 1 and while creating delivery with VL01 both material we want to delivery and do the PGi  in the same way we required billing doucment for both the material and in case we are salling only product B price  should be from VK11.
      How to customize the system for above requirement.

    Hi Zafar,
    Free goods determination is not supported in SAP for structured material like BOM.
    For your requirement, you need not have to create a BOM materiall, simple free goods determination is suitable.
    You can create an Exclusive free goods condition record where material A will be the main item and material B will be the sub item (free of charge).
    So create the Condition record for Exclusive free goods in VBN1.
    When you will create the Sales order for material A, system will take the above materials "A" as Main item (Item category TAN) and "B" Sub-item (Item category TANN) respectively.
    When you will create DELIVERY , both the items will be delivered and you can do PGI.
    As and when required you can also sell material B separately.
