i am using e71
Somehow my key file was missing. i guess it was due to my formatting several times and not aware the encryption was turn on.
Anyway to recover this and not having to buy a new memory card.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to get your key file back if you accidently deleted it. So everything on your memory card is now unaccessible since it was encrypted. You won't have to buy a new memory card.. just need to reformat it. You WILL LOSE anything that is on the memory card by reformating it.

Help finding files for SSO

We're trying to setup SSO at my company using this article (we're on Apex 3.1.2):

Everything is going smoothly so far, but we're now caught at Step 5:
Step 5 - (only necessary if SSO SDK was installed after installing Application Express)
a. Locate the custom_auth_sso source files for your Application Express installation.
b. Connect as SYS and from the location of the files run:
alter session set current_schema = flows_xxxxxx;
@custom_auth_sso.sql
@custom_auth_sso.plb
grant execute on wwv_flow_custom_auth_sso to public;
The problem is very simple - we're not sure where to find the "custom_auth_sso" source files and unfortunately, I am not a DBA, so my understanding of this is limited. Unfortunately, the DBA I am working with - his knowledge is seemingly equally as limited... So, my hunch is that these files should be somewhere on the db server where ApEx is installed, but the DBA is telling me they are not there. So, in order to get these two files, do I need to re-install ApEx somewhere or is there an easier way?
Please excuse my ignorance on this matter, thank you in advance for your help!

[HELP] my files accidentally encrypted to .rem

one day, my friend formatted his blackberry smartphone device,
but after finished format, the important files in the media card accidentally encrypted to .rem.
We have already did googling to find the solutions,
but any solutions that's suggested is nothing work (like disable the encryiption setting, copy files to other folder, upload or send the files to email, etc etc..) , the .rem files still cannot be decrypted
The main problem that the device had been formated, so the solutions did not give any effect.
So, anyone here know how to restore the encryoted .rem files to their original files, if the device had already got format ??

Have you tried upgrading the BlackBerry Desktop Software and using this software to transfer the media files to a computer? This may allow you to remove the encryption on the transferred files so they can be viewed from the PC. http://bbry.lv/mhWyOJ

Sidecar file for DNG missing?

Currently I'm a little bit confused about what is happening to my LR cat.
After I have detected VCs with out of sync metadata in my LR catalog - see http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc4bbeb
now it shows up a DNG-image with the question mark on top right of the thumbnail in grid view. Moving up the mouse over the icon gives me the hint that the sidecar file is missing!
The DNG has modified develop settings and metadata (after import). So far so good. In metadata panel it says that I (should) have an .xmp sidecar for this DNG.
My problem: I thought that I have read that DNG get all develop-settings and metadata written as xmp directly into the DNG-file - not into sidecar xmp.
LR1.1 on WinXP SP2.

I just recognized that LR seems to maintain 2 classes of DNGs.
a) DNGs I converted from CR2 upon import process are marked as "Digital Negative (DNG)" in metadata field for file format.
b) DNGs which I previously converted from CR2 to DNG using ACR converter some time ago are marked as file format "RAW".
The DNG which causes the trouble as mentioned above is one of the category b, so it is converted by ACR converter before import into LR.
Does LR behave as intended by design? Is Adobe even aware of this behavior?

Need help compressing files for transmission?

I want to move a number of files by compressing them. I had been using Stuffit Expender but for some reason I don't understand, it compresses not just the files I select but others on my desktop as well. So I'm looking to fix this or find alternative.

There is a free 30 day trial version. Might help you figure out if it is a version problem. But I don't bother since the Mac OS provides the ability both to compress built in.
By the way, Stuffit Expander is free. I try to keep that updated. Althugh even that may not be necessary with the Mac OS doing its magic.

Plug-in for Mime files for QuickTime missing.

I've been trying to view certain videos and listen to streaming music and sometimes it works (never that well) and other times it doesn't. I'm using QT not WM and when it works the videos don't play in the viewer. They usually download to the desktop and then have to be manually played. When it doesn't work I get a small blue box with a question mark and the following statement:
The page has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:

I can't find the correct plug-in(s) on the website. What should I do?

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2, but please see my footnote).
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:

In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

If you are running Leopard:
Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:

JRE8 U20: CAB file for MSI missing

Hello @all,
we deploy JRE by extracting the setup to gain the MSI file. In former versions, we got the following files:
jre_1.8.0_11.msi
jre1031.MST
Data1.cab
With Update 20, there is only the MSI file in the folder. When we run the MSI file we get the error message that "one part of the file is corrupt or missing" during the Installation.
Is this by design? If so, which possibilities to we have now to deploy Java by MSI? We do not have a software deployment system, we use Active Directory software Installation which only works with MSI files.

I figured this out - the error appears, when you start the MSI file directly per double click. When you install it per command line (msiexec /i ...) it works.

Luks encrypted key file as key for luks partition (two-factor auth)

I'm trying to implement "two-factor" authentication (possession of a keyfile and knowledge of a passphrase required) using dm-crypt in order to open an encrypted root filesystem. In the past I used gpg and later openssl to decrypt a keyfile using a passphrase, which then was used by cryptsetup using --key-file to decrypt the actual data device. I'd like to ditch gpg/openssl and use only cryptsetup.
So the idea is to create a luksFormatted key file (loop device) which, when opened using a passphrase, will be used as the key (using --key-file) to open a luksFormatted hard drive partition.
To illustrate:
# create and luksFormat the key container file
dd if=/dev/urandom of=key_container bs=1M count=4
cryptsetup luksFormat key_container
# open the container and create a random "key" by directly writing pseudo random data to it
cryptsetup luksOpen key_container key_device
dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/mapper/key_device

My questions:
1. Is this a valid approach or am I making a mistake/do you see a problem somewhere?
2. How much data from the loop device will cryptsetup use as key to format/open the data device? Everything? Is there a limit?
3. Is there a difference between doing a
cat /dev/mapper/key | cryptsetup -d -
and
cryptsetup -d /dev/mapper/key?

Assuming that the answer to 1 is "no mistake/problem" and 2 is "everything there is" or even "the first x bytes", is it possible that the actual contents of the loop device may change in the future because of different loop device implementations or somethings else I didn't think of? I'd like to avoid bad surprises in the future..
4. What would you recommend as size for the key container file, knowing that the luks header requires some space too?

--key-file=- should be equivalent, but it's meant for grabbing a key from gpg output or whatever; since you can specify it directly here, no need to involve anything else like cat etc.
without --key-file=- it would stop reading at newlines or something. this behaviour is quite dangerous as it may cause people who believe they're using a long random key, to use only a very short (or even empty) key instead. one way to avoid such ambiguousness is to make sure there are no newline bytes in your keyfile, so it would use the whole thing in either interpretation.
as for the key length, a key is essentially a passphrase. So it does not have to be very long at all; 8 truly random bytes would require up to 256^8 tries to break after all and with LUKS, each try takes ~1 second per physical CPU... but the smallest unit that LUKS allows is 512 bytes (1 sector) so you could just as well use the whole thing. If you use 4096 bytes, you're confusing bytes with bits somewhere... and as for bits, even 128bit AES is still considered secure...
You could save some bytes in the initrd.gz if you initialize the container file with zeroes instead of random, so it can be compressed. The key will still be random as the random cipher key will turn the zeroes to something else after all...

As you see this code snippet is a xml format private key. at .net platform,which can use encrypt or dencrypt.
i have try the Extension Crypt RSA ( http://pear.php.net/reference/Crypt_RSA-1.0.0/elementindex_Crypt_RSA.html ) to help me encrypt data by php.but it haven't return a currect result. the data encrypted by php cann't dencrypt by c#.
does the RSA algorithm provider by Crypt_RSA can give a stand result as c#?

Need help with an AU instrument install w/Key File

hey guys, i have a problem. i bought a new AU called Filterbank3 from Tone2. It uses a "Key File" which i have but i don't know where to "put" it. i don't think i have ever purchased and AU that has one. most are serial number type you know, when you open the plugin for the first time the screen pops up you type in the number and you are good to go. i have downloaded the plugin and it shows up in the availible list but when i try to open it it says "key file missing copy (the key file) to Library/audio units/plug ins. i have the key file as sent to me by the publisher and have done this but it doesn't seem to work. i really need some "hand holding" with this one. could anyone give me a walk through of what i should do? thanx-gospel

Yeah Sampleconstruct thats the FIRST thing i did. The plug-in is there and i put the keyfile in as well. Maybe i wasn't really clear in earlier posts the problem i am having is with the Key File copy protection. In addition to the plug in Componenet File there is a .cfg file (which i don't know what that is) and the t2k. file (which is the key file). I have put all of them in the what i think is the correct place. Since it ran off an installer it is in Program HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins and thats where i put the .cfg and t2k.files. I tried to create a sub folder for just Filterbank in the Components folder and put all the stuff in there but it didn't help. i even tried to set up Application Support Folder in Program HD/Library/Application Supportfor FilterBank this did not help either. I do not know what to do the keyfile at all. maybe Tone2 will get back to me. but as always any help from true Mac heads is appreciated.-gos

Best method for encrypting/decrypting large XML files ( 100MB)

I am in need of encrypting XML for large part files that can get upwards of 100Mb+.
I found some articles and code, but the only example I was successful in getting to work used XMLCipher, which takes a Document, parses it, and then encrypts it.
Obviously, 100Mb files do not cooperate well with DOM, so I want to find a better method for encryption/decryption of these files.
I found some articles using a CipherInputStream and CipherOutputStreams, but am not clear if this is the way to go and if this will avoid memory errors.

I can give some general guidelines that might help, having done much similar work:
You have 2 different issues, at least from my reading of your problem:
1) How to deal with large XML docs that most parsers will not handle without memory issues
2) Where to hide or "black box" the encrypt/decrypt routines
#1: Check into XPP3/XMLPull. Yes, it's different that the other XML parsers you are used to using, and more work is involved, but it is blazing fast and can be used to parse a stream as it is being read. You can populate beans and process as needed since there is really not much "inversion of control" involved compared to parsers that go on to finish the entire document or load it all into memory.
#2: Extend Serializable and write your own readObject/writeObject methods. Place the encrypt/decrypt in there as appropriate. That will "hide" the implementation and should be what any persistence manager can deal with.

The manual mentions several key commands for selecting objects in the part box, that would make this a very efficient step time input program, but they don't exist in the key command list.

Thanks for this reply. You are correct I am actually running 10.9 and fully up to date on software updates for August 2014. My bad, thought I had taken the most recent option from the drop down menu.
I have been able to fix the issue but going into Library/ApplicationSupport/Logic and removing the 'drummer' folder. I also went into the plugins folder and removed 'drum presets'. I put all removed files onto a new folder on my desktop.
When I tried to open a drummer track Logic detected that the files were missing and prompted me to download the missing 'drummer files' once the download was complete, drummer operated correctly with all drummers available again.
I went back into the file system again and moved some of the drum presets that I had initially moved out (I had originally acquired these when I first installed Logic and did a lengthy additional content download) that had not re-downloaded back into 'drum presets'. All drumkits were now available too.
If the issue occurs again I'll take a look at Spotlight file reindexing - would be worth a try and probably quicker. It would make sense that the underlying issue here is one around the drummer sampler code having issues around indexing the sample data.
