HELP!!!! New iPod

Just got my new 30g iPod. Let it charge. sync with iTunes. Went to play music and there's all this static wonky noise. Then iPod shuts off. What's the deal? Should I send it back?

Most iPod issues can be cured by trying these troubleshooting steps one at a time.

  • Urgent, please help, new Ipod 30 GB Video!!

    Dear community,
I have a problem with a 30 GB new ipod video that I bought 6 weeks ago. I used it with no problems yesterday, and today when I started it, it is hanging forever with a dark screen and little small white box in the top left of the screen. When I connect it to the PC, it is recognized as a new hardware found, but cannot access the content.
    Any recommendations please??
    Thanks in advance.

Did you install the hardware drivers that came with your iPod onto your PC. That may help. It usually comes in a CD with the iPod.
I can't help with the iPod screen. If it continues...maybe you should call Apple at 1800-My-Apple or visit your local apple store.
    Good Luck!

  • HELP, new ipod shuts down computer in the middle of updating.........

We have a new ipod, that when I connect to our computer, begins the downloading process but shuts down our whole system half way through. Anybody know what is happening. I have tried everything I know how to do, but this only happens when I connect the new ipod. I've even exchanged the ipod, but the same result. I've tried to reinstall the software, but I think I've got a mess now. Any ideas?

First do some scanning. Scan the system with your antivirus program. Scan the system with a malware program like ewido http://www.ewido.com. Use windows chkdsk to scan the system and the registry (if you need help with this just say so)
Goto the PC makers site and install all the updates for your system, especailly BIOs Chipset IDE controller and USB updates.

  • Please Help - New Ipod

    Hi,
I got an ipod with 30gb for Christmas - it came pre-loaded with 100 songs from the person who gave it to me. They created a playlist of all my favorite songs... which I love!!! However - when I come to hook it up to my pc/itunes it keeps asking me to delete everything on my ipod in order to put new songs on it... What do I do?????
    Please Help!

Well, this is just guess but iPods are very ,uhm, protective about who can use what music, etc. Your fiend synched the pod to his/her computer to load the music that is what is causing the issue. I'd ask said friend to burn you a DVD of the playlist in question (not a back-up), wipe your pod on your computer, load the DVD ,and reinstall the music on to the pod via your computer. Hope that helps.
    Cheers,
    Chris
P.S. I say DVD because to get everything to work the music will be in AIFF format which takes up a lot of room. You could also break the play lists into more manageable sized chunks and use regualr CD's.

  • Help, new Ipod corrupted

I have a brand new 30gig Ipod. My pc is running XP. When I try to sync the Ipod with Itunes and I get a message that states that "Itunes has detected an Ipod that my be corrupted" I've tried to restore it, but no luck. I've sent it back to Apple for service and they sent me back the same Ipod and all they did was erase all the data. The same problem persists. Here's another problem. On the apple service page that asks you to "describe your issue" you have to "select an issue which describes the reason for service". The problem this Ipod is having is not listed. You can describe in detail later on in the questionaire, however, since I described the problem before, I feel like they don't even read this part. Any suggestions?

Update... reconnected, reformatted after reading more ideas and still can't get past the errors.
Now I have it connected to the computer, no back lighting (kinda lame), which shows a "do not disconnect" message, there's a little icon up in the upper left screen spinning around.
I do not have iTunes running at this point so I'm not sure what it's doing. In a loop of some kind perhaps?? Not sure.
I've also checked in with Amazon.com to make sure I can return this product... I can... thank god.....
Still very open to help if someone has any other ideas. I see quite a few views but no responses.
It's a Nano by the way...

  • PLEASE HELP NEW IPOD IN TROUBLE

i had no trouble uploading songs or videos, but all of a sudden my music stopped playing and i couldn't do anything to fix this. i didn't drop the ipod or anything, the files show up, games work, everthyings there but the timer on the song stands still and no song will play. this ipod was only 4 days old? whats going on please help! it'n not paused either, the osngs just don't play!

    Yehlena,
I am glad we could help, but your not done yet;) I think you should award King the solved points for informing you about the restoring feature.
One of the responsibilities of the original poster (sometimes referred to as OP) is to award points to the "solver" as well as the most helpful. The reason being, not only does it show how the problem was fixed, but it 5-10 points (depending on helpful or solved) to those who helped the most. I like to think of it as paying them back with Monopoly money. It doesn't count anywhere else, but here. The reason for these points (I believe) is to show a rough estimate someone has been helpful as well as reduce the number of slipshod responses (the idea that someone will put the extra effort to try solve/help the problem). It has become proper etiquette when posting in the forums to issue these post (my opinion). I am not an Apple host/moderator, nor do I have any authority/say in this forum. I am "just another brick in the wall". It's up to you; I just thought it was something worth mentioning.
    Thanks,

iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
Only the Apple logo appears when turned on.

  • Help, new ipod classic won't display english. Initially booted up in an Asian language (maybe Japanese?).

Settings are set to English.  Reset several times, changed usb port, rebooted computer, followed all troubleshooting directions.  Only thing I haven't done is remove itunes and reinstalled.  Registered successfully online, Apple site obtained serial # through computer's internet connection.
Initially booted up in Asian language and won't change.  Also, won't go past first menu.  Got it at Best Buy yesterday 2/7/2012.  Should I return and get another?

  • Please Help - New IPod doesn't work

My wife has bought me a 60GB IPod off the Internet for my birthday this week but it doesn't seem to work. I've never used one B4 so I've followed the basic instructions.
I've installed the software on my PC as advised and then connected the Ipod to one of it's USB ports. The Ipod screen lights up with a dullish grey/green colour and it makes a buzzing noise but nothing else happens. There's no text on it the screen nor any no icons showing any charging activity. I've tried several of the USB ports on my PC but it doesn't make any difference.
The PC doesn't recognise the Ipod in My Computer or Device Manager.
I don't know what type of USB ports I have but the PC is only a couple of months old. Do I need a get a separate mains charger or a Powered USB charger.
    Anyone got any ideas?

I had a similar problem and resolved it by resetting the IPod.

  • HI!!!HELP?someone............new ipod 5th generation user here....pls

I bought a new ipod 5th generation (30gig)2 and a half months from now.
    Problems:
1.) I accidentally/i intended to reset my ipod while still connected to pc (windows xp->how stupid of me.
2.) After resetting all videos, songs etc... are gone but pic are still in my ipod-> where did they go?deleted perhaps?
3.) I deleted the itunes, restart my pc and reinstallitunes and again and restart my pc bec itunes no longer recognize my ipod->(itunes says:i need to have an ipod software updater to restore factory settings)
4.) I go to the apple website to download latest ipod updater then i saved it to: Save to disk
5.) Then in my pc desktop an icon for adobe:ipodsetup.exe->click it but it says:There was an error opening this document. The file is already open or in use by another application.-> cant understand what it implies...
6.) So because of that i deleted all the remaining files in my ipod which was MY PICS. so it leaves my ipod no songs etc as in empty as ever.
7.) I reset it twice and turned it ON->of course not connected to pc or anything-so i checked out the SETTINGS of my ipod, then to ABOUT, then discovered that -IPOD SONGS:0,VIDEOS:0,PHOTOS:0,CAPACITY:27.8(i have no questions about this i know why 2.2 was already consumed because of the menus/internal settins whatever), but AVAILABLE:23.5!!!!!!!!->WHY?I THOUGHT IT WILL GO BACK TO 27.8, does this mean my ipod has some defects or something?i took care of my ipod has a protective crystal casing, never fall of from my hands/while being use in short its my partner in life as of now.
8.) so if anyone who has a kind heart to hear my problems please help me..thank you

WOW, you have a big problem. My first suggestion is to restore your ipod, like btabz said. Other things you could do are 1). Send it in to a electronics store or apple.
2). Get a new ipod (LAST RESORT)
    3). 5 R's- See http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/

  • I cannot download my old itunes library to my new ipod - please help!!!!

Unfortunately in August 2006 someone nicked my Ipod mini - thanks! So my insurance co. replaced it with an ipod nano. I've installed the new software disk that came with my ipod nano and hooked up with the old itunes library to my new ipod nano. Simple huh? Not likely. It says I have too many tunes in my itunes library to download to my new ipod. However the mini and nano are both the same size -4G so why now is it telling my I have too many songs to download to my ipod nano? I have even deselected some from the library but no luck. My old ipod mini was not full to capacity anyway? any ideas?
It could be that my current pc is not logged to the internet - AOL fault currently being sorted but surely that should not stop me updating my ipod? The tunes are in the library the new 4g ipod (allbeit a nano and not a mini as was) is connected yet the **** thing says I have too many tunes selcted to download WHEN I KNOW I DONT! Help......... please does anyone have a clue where i'm going wrong its driving my nuts!

Why not?  What happens when  you try?
Is the content selected to sync?

  • Help Please - New iPod Classic will not sync with existing iTunes library

Please help, I have researched every forum I can find and all the suggested tips have not worked for me.  Here is my problem.....
I have a new laptop and a new iPod classic.  I have checked and both have the most up to date software.  I have logged into iTunes and all the music and films I had purchased previously is showing.
I thought I simply had to log into iTunes, authorise the laptop, plug in my Ipod and then sync the music and films from iTunes onto my iPod.
When I do the there is a message within seconds to say the iPod sync is completed but the iPod remains empty.  I can't figure out where I have gone wrong.
    All suggestions gratefully received

Problem solved.  It seems that iTunes archived my music to iCloud so once I downloaded all the files again they sync'd rght away

  • Need help to transfer itunes songs from older ipod to newer ipod

I have an older ipod (one of the first generations!?) that I have downloaded songs from itunes years ago; however, those songs are not in my itune library. I now have a 3rd generation nano 8GB that I would like to put these songs on. I have tried downloading them to my laptop and then transferring into library. The songs will transfer into itunes library, but I can't get them to transfer onto the ipod. I transfer manually (don't sync songs)because I also have two sons that also have ipod nano and shuffle. When I click and drag the song from my library to the desired folder on my ipod it tells me that my computer isn't authorized. I have authorized the computer repeatedly and I still get the same message! I noticed the songs are protected and wonder...does that have anything to do with not being able to transfer?
The songs were originally purchased on itunes store several years ago. I don't know why the 30 to 40 songs I have on the original ipod are NOT in the library, but I would really like them to be on my new ipod. (I have 200 plus songs that are on both ipods/library.) Can anyone help me? I feel I have tried everything and getting extremely frustrated! Are these songs a lost cause?
