HighDiscardRate dfm 3.2.0

Dfm send us absurd information about HighDiscardRate Value for a 3750G switch. Here below:
EVENT ID = 00025JJ
ALERT ID = 0000IGS
TIME = Thu 31-Dec-2009 08:21:37 CET
STATUS = Active
SEVERITY = Critical
MANAGED OBJECT = AXE-C3750G-08
MANAGED OBJECT TYPE = Switches and Hubs
EVENT DESCRIPTION = HighDiscardRate::Component=PORT-AXE-C3750G-08/10112 [Gi1/0/12] ["Lien 1000SX vers C3750G-09 port G1/0/12"];ComponentClass=Port;ComponentEventCode=1048;Type=ETHERNETCSMACD;OutputPacketDiscardRate=1.7821442E7 PPS;MaxSpeed=1000000000;InputPacketRate=47
I wrote in previous Discussion this bug was solve in LMS 3.2. Any ideas?
Thanks.

DFM usually just says what it sees.
Make sure the IOS image on the switch is not deferred on the cisco site.
I've come across this type of switch where the SNMP MIB value for discard packets :
Did not match with the values in the show interface command
Bounced between 2 values from time to time causing the events
Try to upgrade one switch to the latest IOS in that train.
Cheers,
Michel

  • DFM 3.2 email notifications have stopped

    Good day.
We're running LMS 3.2 with DFM 3.2, and at some point within the last month, email notifications from DFM have stopped flowing.  DFM is trapping events as they occur and these are viewable through the portal, but notifications that should be going out as email and SMS messages have stopped.
I can view "Notification Customization" and "Event Sets" within the LMS DFM portal (running on Windows), but...
      - accessing "Notification Groups" returns an "HTTP Status 500" error
      - accessing "SNMP Trap Notifications" returns "Problem with File /WEB-INF/screens/Notification/newtrapSubscription.jsp!!!Cannot find bean NewSubscription in scope null"
    - accessing "E-mail Configuration" --> "E-mail Notificatin" returns "Problem with File /WEB-INF/screens/Notification/NewEmailSubscription.jsp!!!Cannot find bean NewSUbscription in scope null"
    - accessing "SNMP Trap Notification"  returns "Problem with File /WEB-INF/screens/Notification/newtrapSubscription.jsp!!!Cannot find bean NewSubscription in scope null"
Backups going back beyond when this is believed to have stopped working are available if something needs to be restored.  If that's the direction I need to go, how do I restore just the DFM portion of the database?  If backup restore is not the way to proceed, what other advice can be provided.
    Thanks.

Never mind...I just restored the entire LMS database using a backup dated prior to when the notifications stopped.
    Problem solved.

  • DFM device discovery issue "Devices stuck in Questioned state"

    Hi
We have LMS 3.0.1 installed with DFM 3.0.4 The devices are showing Questioned with Error code "SNMP timeout" with no specific reason. The snmpwalk is coming for the device as I checked with snmpwalk command. The only device discovered as"known" has ICMP permitted from Server to device and no other device has. They only have SNMP permit. Can this affect the dicovery?? or what else can I try....Please suggest!!
    Rgds

Yes. DFM requires that all devices be both SNMP and ICMP reachable. DFM uses ICMP to verify reachability to all IP addresses on the device. However, at the very least, the address by which you manage the device MUST be ICMP reachable.

  • DFM Alerts for B-channel backup on Fax

Hi, every time a fax gets sent, this alert is coming from LMS, as the router b-channel interfaces come up.
LMS is complaining that a backup interface had to kick in on the gateway router, and clears after about 5 minutes. I see the router up/up for this duration, then up/down and status cleared.
I have no experience with voice yet, but am assuming this is normal behaviour for call setup and teardown when a fax is sent, right? Should I ignore this and turn off the DFM alert?

    Thanks for any help.

By default, DFM classifies ISDN interfaces as dial backup.  Obviously this is not the case for this fax interface.  You can configure one of the DFM customizable interface groups to match this particular ISDN interface, and then prioritize that group so that it comes before the built-in Dial Backup group.  After applying the changes, this event should stop being generated.

  • Tomcat error in DFM 3.0.5

    Hi,
On a LMS 3.0.1, DFM 3.0.5, I've got a Tomcat error, when I want to see the "Alerts and Activity" (see attachement)
Trying to solve the problem, i've made several try:
    1. I purged the dfm database (CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmInv dmprefix=INV, CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH,
    CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmEpm dmprefix=EPM)
    2. Import devices from DCR (almost 400 devices). I can see all the devices in "Device Management/Device summary"
    3. re-install DFM 3.0.5
and this doesn't solve the problem
I attach the "pdshow", if it can help.
Which log file can help you ?
    thanks

    I add:
As the post (https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/1328737#1328737), I do this:
    "NMSROOT/objects/db/win32/dbsrv9 -f NMSROOT/databases/dfmEpm/dfmEpm.db"
    and restore the database by
    "NMSROOT/bin/perl NMSROOT/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=epm dmprefix=EPM"
in attachement, the new pdshow (the EPMDbEngine is started, but the EPMServer is down)
    And still "tomcat error"...
    If you have an idea...

  • LMS 3.2/4.0.1 - DFM and OSPF messages?

Does LMS 3.2 DFM support OSPF traps? Else, does LMS 4.0.1 DFM support OSPF traps?
If not, is the only way still to use RME automated action on a syslog event for OSPF the only way to get notifications?
    -David

Unfortunately it wont, it would list as unidentified messages.  Here is the list of supported traps by DFM: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_device_fault_manager/3.2/user/guide/TrapFwd.html
RME automated actions is your best bet by defining the Syslog messages that OSPF generates.

  • LMS 3.2 on Solaris 10 - DFM 3.2 Shows VIP as Duplicate IP

    Hi,
I have a few alerts created by DFM regarding duplicate ip addresses. It happens that those duplicate ips are in reality virtual ip addresses configured on our load balancers.
Is there a way to resolve this issue?
    Thanks
    Jose Ribeiro

This is a known issue (CSCee02681).  The only workaround is to unmanage those IP addresses that are being reported as duplicates.  This can be done under DFM > Device Management > Device Details.  Expand the details tree, and select the IPs that are showing up as duplicates and set their management states to false.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM Event Summary problem

    Hi all,
I have two issues, and one question:
    Issues:
    1)
In the DFM portlet, under DFM Evnets Summary I see a list stating that I have 2 devices that have Event Name as Duplicate. When I click on the number 2, it opens up Device Fault Manager - Alerts and Activities, but it's show with no records. This has been like this for quite some time now... Any ideas on how to fix this?
    2)
I've got 5 devices in DFM that are in the DFM Device Status as Questioned. They don't exist in CS, RME nor any other place. I went to DFM Device Management and under Rediscover/Delete, and was going to delete the devices from DFM, but the delete button is grayed out. How can I remove the devices from DFM?
    And now for the Question:
I sometimes get an event in DFM Alerts and Activities that looks like this:
    Name                                                          Value
    Event_Description:               InformAlarm
Component:                         [FQDN DEVICE NAME REMOVED]: Cisco Configuration Management Trap
Description:                         Cisco Command Monitoring -> Event Command Source: SNMP, Event Config Source: Running, Event Config Destination: Network TFTP
Sometimes it gets cleared by it self... So I'm a bit interested to find out what does this event mean? and how to get rid of it?
    Any help is appreciated
    Gudvardur

It sounds like your DFM databases may have gotten out of sync with the rest of LMS.  You can clear the first two problems by following the steps in https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-8796 to reinitialize the dfmEpm, dfmInv, dfmFh, DFM.rps, and DFM1.rps databases.  Do not reinitialize the others.
As for the delete button being grayed out, this is expected when DFM is in auto-manage mode.  To activate this button, go to DFM > Device Management > Device Import and disable auto-manage mode.
The config management trap you're seeing will occur whenever the config changes on the device.  This event should clear on its own.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM email notification problem

    Hi,
I got a problem in a newly installed LMS 3.2 with the DFM email notification.
I can see the alerts appering on Alerts&Activities, but DFM would not send any emails.
I can get emails from other moduls of LMS. CS sends me emails from successfully backups.
The SNMP Server works fine. The settings are ok.
    I already reinstalled DFM.
I have seen a thread exists on supportforum.cisco.com with the same problem.
Maybe anyone have the answer to this problem.
    Thanks,
    C8-Netzwerk

This looks like an issue I am currently tracking.  I have written a patch which should correct this.  You can get the patch by opening a TAC service request, and having your engineer contact me directly.

  • LMS 3.2 DFM Import of Devices Failed

    Hi,
My name is Ashley. I have recently installed LMS 3.2. Everything is working fine, CM, CS,HUM, RME,IPM. However, I am not able to import devices from DCR to DFM.
On Auto Allocation Window, I get the following error:
Error in getting instance of TreeGenerator class
    com.cisco.nm.trx.kdm.utils.DcrGroupSelectorTreeGenerator
    Root Cause:com.cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!
On Manual Allocation, I cannot see any device in the DCR.
I have seen in a post how to reset the DFM database, but still does not work.
    net stop crmdmgtd
    cd CSCOpx\bin
    del NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/repos/icf/DFM.rps
    del NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/repos/icf/DFM1.rps
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmEpm dmprefix=EPM
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmInv dmprefix=INV
    perl dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=dfmFh dmprefix=FH
    net start crmdmgtd
    perl dbaccess.pl install
Could you please help, I am running out of ideas.

If the problem persists after a full server reboot, then you are probably not seeing this bug.  Post the NMSROOT/objects/smarts/local/logs/DFM.log and DFM1.log as well as the brcontrol output after the full reboot.

What is causing these Problem? A corrupt database or some invalid setting??
    Does anybody has an idea?

    Hi Joe,
    thanks for your fast reply.
    The corresponding SR is 614309645.
These are the TAC provided files and sizes.

    05/06/2010 10:46 AM 7,112  ProcessEPMDataManager.class
    The setup instruction from TAC:
    1- Stop the  daemon manager:
                 net stop crmdmgtd
    2- Go  to:
    $NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/triveni/WEB-INF/classes/com/cisco/nm/trx/nos/server
and backup  the original files (either copy them to another safe directory or rename them to  something like . Please don't retain the  original extension when renaming the files.
3- Make  sure that the patch files have the following MD5s:
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem$epmAlarmHistory.class) =  08851732b0b3aac5bb0636cc3e8e3c10

    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager$EpmDataQueueItem.class) =  a70f49f8eab6bdea007b4ddd79e3809f
    MD5  (ProcessEPMDataManager.class) =  a6ec024955bb638d8fec47694816a82a3-
4- Replace  the originals in the above mentioned directory with these  versions.
    5 Start the  Daemon manager:
                 net start crmdmgtd
I followed these instructions and still facing the problem.
I also searched for the libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll, i found them, but in a path not included in the Windows PATH variable. Therefore these files should not influence LMS.
In the NOS Log i still see these messages:
    10-May-2010|15:01:10.027|ERROR|NOS|Process EPM Data Thread:Pooled  Thread:1|EpmDataQueueItem|processEPMData()|.|Caught Exception in  processEPMData():  java.util.NoSuchElementException

    10-May-2010|15:01:39.747|DEBUG|NOS|Thread-5|EPMPoller|pollEPM_Wash()|.|No  DB Exception in  polling
Since these Messages depends on EPM Data i had a look into the EPMServer.log and EPM.log
The EPMServer.log is shortened and showing all entries from the last dmgtd start. After the usual urn_not_found messages and the init of the Groups the following entry is generated:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
        at com.cisco.nm.trx.epm.providers.alarm.AlarmUpdateListener.processUpdatedAlarm(Unknown Source)
        at com.cisco.nm.trx.epm.providers.alarm.AlarmUpdateListener.run(Unknown Source)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:595)
After that i changerd the logging of EPM to debug and attached the file as EPM_Debug.zip to this post.
Thanks a lot for your valuable support so far.
    Cheers Frank

  • LMS 3.2 DFM error "URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!"

    Hi Joseph,
one of our client is using lms 3.2 and getting the following error in DFM -> device import -> Auto Allocation mode configuration.
Error in getting instance of TreeGenerator class
    com.cisco.nm.trx.kdm.utils.DcrGroupSelectorTreeGenerator
    Root Cause:com.cisco.nm.xms.ctm.common.CTMException: URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!
I have gone through all documents available in netpro and done all tests mentioned for trouble shooting
following is the result of command " pearl resolver.pl "
    D:\CSCOpx\bin>perl resolver.pl hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com
    Original name: hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com
    Hostnames/IP Addresses:
            hyd-wbpo-cwks.wipro.com/10.120.232.143
    Here with I have attched the dfmserver.log, dfmserver1.log, dfmOGSserver.log , netstat -a -n -o -b, and output of PDshow.
One thing I observed when I am running the command "brcontrol"  under "D:\CSCOpx\objects\smarts\bin>" it is not returning me any output.
All the devices in dfm are stacked in learning state at 10%. The SNMP RO string used in DCR is alos ok.

  • DFM.log ISSUE

    Hello,
I'm running Ciscoworks LMS 2.6 on win2k3 server.
Recently C:\ is running out of space, and investigating on this I've found a big DFM.log.030 (about 5 GB) in folder C:\Program Files\CSCOpx\objects\smarts\local\logs.
Logrot or Logbackup didn't help to reduce the file. I've tried to reboot the server but nothing happens.
    DFM version is 2.0.10.
Could anyone suggest how to reduce the file? Can I just simply delete it?
    Thanks for your support.
    Ciao,
    Massimiliano.

    Hi ,
Logrot should work  if not then  Yes you can simply Truncate the log fie :
    Go to : NMSROOT\CSCOpx\log>logrot_trunc
    e.g :c:\program files\CSCOpx\log>logrot_trunc DFM.log.030
    Thanks--
    Afroj

  • DFM alert for shutting down a port?

I am using LMS 3.2, and when are shutting down a port, I don't receive any alerts. Is there any alert for administratively shutting down a port of a device?

DFM criteria for a interface down is
ifOperStatus = down and ifAdminStatus = up.  If you down the interface then ifAdminStatus will be down and not up, so DFM does not treat this an alarmed event.
