How to Get Accurate Canon Colors in photoshop

The Colours in RAW  file in CS6 and comparing it to colours in  RAW file opened in DPP (Canon Software) they will not look the same, even when I use the camera profile in Photoshop is not giving exact colour, I'm using Canon 5D mark III, any help?

There is no such thing as “accurate Canon colors”.
There is a Canon rendering using camera settings and an Adobe rendering using Adobe settings, both starting with the raw sensor data.
Canon settings are only applicable to the Canon software not Adobe’s, and vice versa.

    How to get accurate photo printouts using  FlexScan S1932 screen, Photoshop CS3 and Canon MX925 ? ALL ARE calibrated with i1Pro . WHO SHOULD GOVERN THE PRINTOUT , THE CS3 OR THE PRINTER ?

    You need to work with the calibration parameters to get a good match from screen to print. There are no fixed values - basically whatever settings produce a match are the right ones.
    First, set the white point - luminance and color - so that screen white is a visual equivalent to paper white. You can be very specific about this, with a viewing booth right next to the display and a particular paper as target. Or you can take a more generalistic approach. That too will usually work well, as long as you keep the aim in sight: screen white = paper white.
    Don't trust the white point presets. You will usually have to adjust to compensate for your working environment. Make sure you can adjust both along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale and the green/magenta axis. Any given Kelvin value may well be wrong on the green/magenta axis.
    Next set a realistic black point. This is important. Monitor manufacturers throw about completely unrealistic contrast ranges that you will never see on paper. A good glossy inkjet paper will be in the vicinity of 250-300:1, or a black point around 0.4 - 0.5 cd/m² if your white point is at 120. If you have a monitor that goes down to, say, 0.2, which most monitors today will, you're in for an unpleasant surprise.
    Leave gamma at 2.2. Gamma is remapped from profile to profile and is "invisible" - the net result is always linear. You just want to stay close to native so that the monitor behaves at its best.
    If you have a wide gamut monitor soft proofing in Photoshop can be useful. With a standard gamut monitor it's mostly a waste of time since monitor gamut is the limiting one.
    Oh, and let Photoshop manage color. Make sure you have the right paper/ink profile and also make sure you have the right paper selected in the printer driver. This controls the total amount of ink.

  • How to get the "CMYK" Color percentages?

    Could you please advise me how to get the "CMYK" Color percentages of every pixel via scripting.

    You have to be patched to the 10.0.2 version of FM and you must use the CMYK option with SaveAsPDF. If thee colour is defined as Spot in the FM file, it should remain as a spot colour in th PDF. However, that being said, the CMYK route is still a bit wonky (even in FM12) and you may get odd results in your PDF.
    Alternatives are to make the fix in Acrobat with the Print Production tools (or even better to use a third-party tool like Enfocus Pro) or to use GrafikHuset's (now freebie) PubliPDF to convert FM's RGB postscript output to CMYK+Spot PDFs. Download at: http://design.grafikhuset.dk/index.php/kontakt/downloads/grafikhuset-publi-pdf and more details available at: http://www.grafikhuset.net/PubliPDF/

  • How to get name of color from Color class

    Hi there,
    I'm just starting my adventure with java and just on the beginning of this trip I found some issue.
    How to get something like this:
    String getColorName(Color var) { ??? }
    String test = getColorName(Color.RED); // test = "red"; or test = "RED";Thank in advance for some constructive ideas

    profidancer wrote:
    dcminter, would You say it in other words, because I'm not following You.
    Do You mean by that to create class like below with some connection inside ??
    public class ColorMap {
         private String name;
         private Color color;
    public String toString() {
         return name;
    I suppose that's one way to do it. Or you could just use the [Map |http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/collections/interfaces/map.html] interface.
    Another option is to simply make the JButton the color it represents, instead of displaying some String with a color name. That way you could support any color pretty easily.

  • How to get accurate results of RGB adjustment layer Shadows in CMYK?

    Hi Guys,
    This is regarding RGB shadows to CMYK shadows. Most of the times we get the shadows from adjustment layers, when we converting to CMYK shadow as a separate layer it's really difficult to get the results as it in RGB.
    In this process we won't get accurate results since we are creating manually. So I would like to know your opinions that how we can get the accurate results?
    You can see the following image.
    Regards
    HARI

    I really need to convert to CMYK since I use for packaging.
    Am I right to assume that you print in-house then?
    So might you not be able to obtain the correct profile for the respective press and just correct the RGB-file as necessary and separate a flattened file at the end?
    If you have to to maintain vector- and type-elements you could separate on pdf-creation and subsequently correct those vector elements in Illustrator (if necessary).
    Though I have to admit this would hardly be an ideal process as a converted psd-pdf can be a bit complicated.
    Another option might be to convert all pertinent elements to a Smart Object in RGB (including the background), keep the vector-/type-elements separate and convert that file to the proper CMYK-space without flattening the SO.
    Anyway, handling material from many different sources can of course be quite a challenge depending on the providing parties.

  • How to get custom iCal colors to carry over to iPad or iPhone calendars

    How do I get custom calendar colors designated on my iMac to carry over to my iPad or iPhone?  It used to do so, and now it no longer does.

    Thanks Joe.  We have discovered from this forum, actually, that if you send the photos from the iPhone, if that's where they were taken, then you are asked what size.
    "If you send from the camera, then you get the option of reducing the size. If you send from your other photos synced from your computer, they don't have that option of reducing."
    I tested it by sending a couple of photos taken by my iPhone, and sure enough, was asked as to size.  Then sent the same two photos from my iPad (Photostream) and was not asked.  Interestingly though, the sizes were identical in both emails.

  • How can I match a color on photoshop to a real car paint color so when printed they will be the same color?

    I want my text to be the same color as a particular car. Is there a way to use the cars paint code for this?

    Depends on where the colour comes from.  The range that printers use are from the Pantone chart, and you can convert those colours to CMYK or RGB values.  Without that sort of reference, I'm not sure it can be done.  If you have a fully calibrated system, then you could scan the maker's chart and sample it, but I don't know how accurate that would be.
    Pantone colors. Convert Pantone colors to RAL, CMYK, RGB, Hex, HSL, HSB, JSON
    How did you hope to use the information? The vehicle below is painted with just one colour, but you'd be hard pressed to get an RGB value because it looks so different depending on the angle.

  • How to get the same colored labels as in the gmail web interface?

    Hi,
    I would like to get the same preview in Mail.app (with different colored labels) as in Gmail. Currently, my Gmail account in synced with Mail.app, hence I have access to all my mailboxes (hence all my labels). I would like to add a rule which reads as :
    if Message is in (gmail label mailbox)
    then Set color to (color)
    However, this feature doesn't seem to be here. Basically, how to automatically colored a message being in a given mailbox (to get a nice rainbow in my general Inbox).
    Thanks in advance!

    I'm pretty sure you can't do that in Mail. If you do find out, post back—I'd like to know too!

  • How to get illustrator to print like photoshop

    Currently running on CC, printing to HP z6800. Majority of the company uses ai files. however, when printing from illustrator, it will not match the colors, and becomes super saturated. however, if I import it to photoshop, it is true to color. Please help! I have matched color profiles and ideally it should all be the same when it comes out.

    Color settings are perceptual on both ai and ps since if we go relative color metric,and letting ai determine the colors,  it gets even more neon.

  • How do get a serial number for Photoshop elements 12 from my redemption code

    I recently purchased Photoshop Elements 12 from Office Max and I am trying to get the serial number from my redemption code.  I have followed the instructions from Adobe
    as well as those provided in the box and keep getting the message that "Something seems to be wrong on our end.  Please try again".  I have tried multiple times and still
    get the same answer.  What's wrong and how do i get myserial number so I can start using this product

    I was going through the same hassle with a Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere combination box from Office Max. The receipt said that it was activated, but the numbers on the receipt and on the box were the wrong length. I finally found the 24-digit Redemption Code on a card mixed in with the other printed materials inside the box. I activated the Redemption Code through my online Adobe account and received the Serial numbers for both Photoshop and Premiere with no more problems.

  • How to get a canon mp620 to work with mac wifi on os 10.5.6

    Hi y'all
    This is simply a summary of the steps outlined by PAHU and Kappy on the tiger print & fax page who are the big brains here that explained the steps that worked for me on Mac OS 10.5.6. Thanks and respect to those guys.
    First thing to understand is the printer doesnt create its own wifi signal for the mac to pick up ( which is what I was expecting) it hooks up via your home wifi set up for which you need a wireless router. If you don't have that you are in a no go situation and will probably want to kill someone.
    So here goes (this may take a while!!)
    1) Got to System Preferences>Internet&Network>Sharing
    check internet sharing
    2) Open Network Utilities in Applications when you are attached to your WiFi network, choose Info (the left most pane) and check what the IP address assigned to your wireless router for your home network. mine came up under Network Interface (en1) and was 192.168.0.1 for the router. You can also check this in System Preferences>Network>Airport>Advanced>TCP/IP. Check the subnet mask there too.
    3) Install the drivers for the Canon MP620 (i tried at first having used the Cd and then downloaded ones from he canon website. Now it works - this is probably relevant. PAHU says you need the Canon IJ Network tool v 2.66 to work!!
    4) Connect the switched on printer via USB.
    5) Go to System Preferences>Print & Fax
    and if no Canon MP620 shows up add the printer (click +) and choose Canon MP620 and then click on Open Print Queue. Click Utility in the top right hand quadrant.
    6) Choose the USB pane and the printer should show up in the window. Click on it and click Network Settings button. Now you are in Canon IJ Network Tool - whether you realised it or not.
    7) It should ask you to set up the printer for the network. Choose your home wifi name (SSID) from options and enter the password you normally use. I have a WPA and used TKIP (Basic Encryption).
    8) Now you need to manually set the IP address for the router and the printer. In the TCP /IP section of Canon IJ Network Tool set the Router address to be the same as you found in Network Utility - in my case 192.168.0.1. Set the subnet mask to be 255.255.255.0 (you can double check this by looking in System Preferences>Network>Airport>Advanced>TCP/IP). Still in the TCP /IP section of Canon IJ Network Tool set IP Address to something that is the same as your router address except change the last digit eg I put 192.168.0.10 instead of 192.168.0.1. This will be the IP address allocated to your printer. Click OK and it will tell you it is sending these settings to your printer.
    9) If you have been struggling with this for a while you may need to enter the printer Settings section choose Device Settings and then LAN settings and choose reset LAN settings to start again.
    10) You know you are winning when you chooses Wireless LAN settings list and things look similar to what you entered on the mac. So unplug the USB and on the printer choose change wireless/wired to wireless.
    11) Now go back to System Preferences>Print & Fax and delete the Canon MP620 entry by pressing -. Then press + choose More Printers, wait a while and select MP620 in Canon IJ Network when it shows up or choose Canon IJ Network if you get the option . The printer should be there as MP620 with a numerical address next to it. Choose that. You should be off. (NB Repeat step 11 for any other macs on the network after downloading and installing the printer driver to that mac)
    12) Now when you chooses Wireless LAN settings list on the printer it should say active.
    Print away.
    BTW Canon support had absolutely no idea at all to do this although endearingkly the guy admitted that the manual wasnt very helpful........they escalated me to a higher level enquiry and said someone should phone me back. When or if they do I will email them this post!!

    OK
    Scenario 1
    (assumes Mobile Me membership)
    Set up Apple Mail in your Mac Pro, iMac, ... and set preferences in Mobile Me to include email stuff
    Login to MacBook Pro, Air, ... other iMac, other Mac Pro > enter mobile me stuff there and Bongo! Apple Mail on the second machine synchronizes with stuff set in Apple Mail on first machine.
    Turn on the iPhone > Bongo! iPhone Mail will show the same email accounts as on the other two machines described above.
    One does not need to re-enter stuff for the sake of it. Mobile Me makes it easy.
    On the second machine create a new email account or add an existing one to Apple Mail > Bongo! Details updated on the first machine and also on iPhone.
    Scenario 2
    (assumes preferences set in Mobile Me for calendars and contacts)
    Create new contacts in each of the three machines (that is the first machine, the second machine and the iPhone) > Bongo! Details will be synched across all three machines (okay, iPhone calls them contacts and the other machines call it Address Book but ... )
    Create appointments in Calendar or iCal in ... well, they are synched as well.
    Scenario 3
    On a PC, away from each of the three machines detailed above. Need contacts and calendars (yes, iCal and iPhone calendar support multiple calendars with an overview summary of all, yep, ALL calendars.
    Fire up Safari on the PC (Safari 4 seems sweet) > go to www.me.com > enter username and password of Mobile Me account > Bongo!
    I suppose it may also be a time thing in sense that many people, self included, might recall a time when every calendar needed every detail keying in (other computer operating systems running different applications). Sure there were import/export utilities or thunks bet these tended to be at variance with each other regarding ordering of data fields, field parameters and in my own experience a bad import though swift was less reliable than re-keying in the details.
